I really wanted to like this place since I live close by. I got an order of the caprese sandwich to go and it was $13.41, no drink. Attaching a picture here so you can see how sad it looks. This is not a place you'll want to hang out, it's loud inside and all the chairs are uncomfortable. It didn't help that some lady had four kids running around slamming the metal trash can lid up and down, then tilting the bar stools back and forth it. I realize the restaurant can't control people's kids but seriously this went on the whole 15 minutes I waited for my food and nobody did anything. After all that, the food was lackluster at best. My Italian grandparents would call it inauthentic, I would call it boring. I will not be back unfortunately. read more

SO SO SO GOOD. We have been ordering from them for years now. Both locations in SC are just as good. We have used them for catering for several parties we've had and our guests have all loved the food. It's always our go to for catering. Their chicken sandwiches are some of my favorite and their shrimp salad is literally the best salad I've been had. We have ordered atleast 30 or 40 times at the least and have always had the same great service and tasty food. They are also one of the few pick up restaurants that have never made a mistake on an order. Highly recommend trying this out if you haven't already! read more

I had come here a couple of times a few months ago and i enjoyed it. However this last time i was disappointed with my order of Fusilli. Not sure if they changed the recipe or just forgot the sauce. The last time it had a red sauce with the sausage and mushrooms. Otherwise The service was good and they were careful enough to double bag my food for leaks. read more

( sales tax is over 8% and if it raised 2% people would revolt). When I arrived I was asked to wait. Not a problem maybe they wanted to make sure it was fresh? 15 minute wait after 20 minute order ahead seemed wrong but they were busy. Asked to speak to manager told no one there in that capacity but told upcharge was because I paid ahead? " the chance that the credit card declines is worse on paid ahead orders. " uh~ what? Don't they have to physically pick up the food? Don't you get an authorization number prior? I was in the area and decided that I was starving and should give this place a shot. An Italian to go place? I was skeptical because I've had nothing but bad experiences with that type of thing. I ordered a chicken sandwich ( mostly because brie is everything to me right now) and my bf ordered the meatball. Both those items were excellent! Fresh ingredients and great flavor! I was leery of the chicken sandwich because it looked like it was served on ciabatta and usually I tire of it, but the bread ended up being lighter than it looked. What really blew me away about both the sandwiches were the little details. The sun dried tomato sweetness... how the cheese was melted just right... the flavor in the sauces. These are definitely not your throw it together for a quick buck variety, they take time (10-15 minutes). I heard a bunch of people calling in orders, so I can see this place being a nice option for takeaway food. Definitely a good place for the lunchtime munchies! Going back to try the pasta. read more

I love the food, been going for years. I work in a service industry as well, I do not ask clients to tip me before paying their bill. These businesses that guilt u into paying a tip have to stop. It's up to me to decide, and I don't think for putting food in a bag I should be put in an uncomfortable position, and asked to pay extra. Guichos has always been delicious. We have loved being so close to pick up dinner. My favorite is the lasagna, the sauce is perfect, the sausage awesome, and it has the perfect amount of cheese. My daughter's favorite is the meatball sandwich and creme brulee. All of the salads I have tried are great too. What inspired me to write the review today is how great they are handling COVID protocols. The set up made me feel safe (I have to be cautious) and was very streamlined. All of the employees are incredibly nice as a bonus. Heads up, they offer E-gift cards that you can order online and schedule to be delivered via email on the future date you choose. The food here is legit. It's not the greatest Italian ever, but it's not imposter "Italian" either. The ingredients are simple and the flavors are engaging. And the prices are very reasonable, particularly relative to the quality. My family picked up a large lunch order today to-go, and I was sent back to pick up a couple of their chicken Marsala dinner specials. Guichos for lunch and dinner makes us pretty big fans, I guess. With an open concept kitchen and no indoor dining per Covid-times, it's easy to see that that the 3-4 people behind the line, and several young ladies in the front are running this joint and working their tushies off. Understandably, this is a busy spot and their team are hustling to meet the demands. After placing my order and being quoted 30 minutes, I ordered a glass of wine to chill while I waited. 30 minutes came and went, as did my 1990s airline plastic cup of rosé, and I was told "10 more minutes." A woman ahead of me was starting to lose it. She was going on 45 minutes after being quoted a 25 minute wait. To be fair, having people over-wait in a place filled with wafts of garlic and carbs is somewhat akin to torture when the food smells so good and you're throttled into primal instincts. Eventually that lioness got her kill and left, and I was on deck... waiting now about 40 minutes. The thing that struck me wasn't that they were running late on their quotes, or that they were just really busy; it was that two middle-aged+, salt and pepper men were standing behind the bar this whole time, seemingly shooting the shizzle, neither backing-up their team or connecting with their waiting customers. Seems to me they should have been doing one or the other. I'm sure one man was the owner, maybe both were, or the other a manager, but while I went on 50 minutes of waiting, one left with food and a beer, and the other stood behind the bar sipping a glass of wine, scrolling on his phone. I brazenly asked this one for a top off of rosé while I continued to over-wait, and he gave me one hell of a look before saying "we're working hard here" - yeah, noted. They are working hard, but he actually seemed to be much more relaxed than his customers. This is a good place and this is a tough business. Not to mention, these times are really rough. The thing I felt was really unfortunate was that the two guys who appeared to be in charge couldn't have seemed more aloof or oblivious and that doesn't go unnoticed, nor is it easily forgotten. read more

Decided to give this place a shot and I'm glad we did. The food was fresh and flavorful. I had the farfalle with chicken and my girlfriend had the spagatini with eggplant. There was plenty of food for me and she was only able to eat about half of her dish. It came with 1 piece of garlic cheese bread. The order was ready on time and the staff was very friendly. The price was a few dollars more per order than the website showed but still fairly priced. read more

The owners have lost their way. The food is decent, fresh, and convenient for to-gos. But, they still have weird caution tape up to separate areas and don't seem to understand the area or San Clemente's demographic. My mom, who is in her seventies, needed an extra to-go box to take food to my dad, who is ninety and in a nursing home down the street recovering from surgery. It is now their policy to charge for an "extra" to-go box. That's ridiculous and gross. If things are that bad for this franchise, raise prices a bit. But don't penny-pinch in ways that make them look like misers. We'll never spend money there again and we are local family who has been here for generations. This place is mediocre . I personally didn't enjoy the food as much, and let me tell you, im big on pasta. The penne with Alfredo sauce was not only average but undercooked.
