Enjoyed my time here at this restaurant, the outside patio area was a nice touch with all the lights and the servers were very nice. The food was good, they give you a lot of food for a reasonable price. I went during happy hour, and got seated right away. The restaurant has comfortable outdoor dining with nioce sunsets. The italian themed restaurant has excellent thin crust pizzas and classic pasta dishes. The salads are great. They have a nice selection of craft beers. The wine selection is limited but good. I tried the creamy homemade tomato soup today...delicious. The prices are reasonable. The service is always good. If you're looking for a cool hangout spot for a small group, this is the place. Unfortunately, we were trying to get a nice dinner with an infant. Most of the seating is outside, and while they have portable heaters, you don't want to come here when it's below 70. We only had one heater next to our table, so the other side was freezing cold. A great little gem, located within walking distance of the Tobin Center. I heard about this place on a local news station. They claim that the restaurant was haunted. But hey, the house the restaurant is in is 100 years old or so. My wife had the Ceaser Salad and King Guillermo Sandwich. I had the House Salad and the Manicotti. Everything was wonderful and our waitress was great. We split a piece of Key Lime Pie and were surprised when the manager stopped by our table to see how everything was. read more

Oh my goodness. Go! My fiancé and I went to Guillermo's yesterday evening to grab dinner. Normally restaurant menus are predictable, but we were surprised to find we couldn't pick what we wanted! So much variety and so well executed. We decided on two apps and a meal -- tequila lime wings (5/5, juicy and light but so flavorful), empanadas (the chipotle sauce was life changing), and the Chef Rafa (flatbread with shrimp, light and also flavorful). Outdoor atmosphere is so welcoming (but there are lots of flies)! Great for grabbing drinks and dinner with large groups! read more

So I'm no carb and I ordered to go. They used a lettuce wrap for my sandwich. I didn't even ask. I said just dump it in a bowl. They're prep was better. They also put my crunchy bacon on the side. Same as the dressings on oil. Okay guys. You truly don't know how could or bad a business is until there's a problem. If you buy your car at a dealership, you leave the lot happy. But the next day your battery is dead. That situation can go south in a second. That same person who sold you the car could tell you to go kick rocks. Well I left the restaurant and there was an issue. I called the restaurant to make them aware of the situation. They were so apologetic and immediately offered a fair and reasonable solution. Make that 5 star rating a 6 star rating. The staff is fabulous. I'll be taking my entire crew there. read more

We have been here multiple times when we are in the Pearl area and each time it's been great! The wait staff is incredible and so friendly. Devin was our most recent server and he was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us all his recommendations on food and drink, constantly checked in on us, and told us more about the area. The food is so yummy! Everything from pizzas and pastas to wings and other appetizers. Everything is delicious! Personally my favorite is the grilled pasta with spicy Italian sausage!! He just kept bringing her samples until she could decide on what to order. And the food, well... MUSTs: -House Salad: Spinach, bow tie pasta, banana peppers, pineapple, feta, tomatoes, almond slices, dried cranberries, and green olives. It comes with onions, which I just pick out. It's one of my favorite salads in SA. The dressing is light, and the tastes and textures of the salad make for the perfect bite of sweet and savory. -Pasta Tomato Alfredo add shrimp: If you like tomato basil soup, you will devour this dish. We asked for a thinner pasta, and added red pepper flakes. Oh, my gravy, this is a delicious dish. It's sizable portion even at lunch; you can easily share, and still have enough. -Chef Rafa Sandwich: Ask for this dish as is: Grilled shrimp, mango, avocado, and chipotle. You will not be disappointed. It's one of my go-to favorites, when I don't know what to order. -Calamari: It's delicious. The sauce is a chipotle marinara. They serve it with a few onion rings, which are a perfect onion to batter ratio (not to heavy on the batter or too thick on the onion). Only downfall of this dish is that we wished there was more calamari. Ask for lemon. It adds for that zesty touch. -Stromboli: My foodie partner said it best: "It's like a homemade hot pocket." Word if warning: It's big enough for two. It's a carnivore dream come true. Layers of meat: Ham, sausage, and pepperoni. -Passionfruit Tea & House Sweet Tea: Tastes house-made. I ordered a 16in gluten free pizza. First let me start buy saying the host was very knowable of the menu, and gluten free options (which I greatly appreciate) and very polite. This makes me sad to write because I have always loved Guillermo's. This was my second less than happy experience in a row. A few months ago I had came in for an early dinner with a friend and was seated in the front small section by the door. I ordered chicken alfredo. There were so many flies buzzing around my friend and I it was almost comical. The alfredo sauce was watery and the chicken was not anything special. Fast forward to last weekend on my birthday. I had been craving my favorite chicken and pepperoni lasagna dish. Enough time had passed from the chicken alfredo botched dinner and I chalked it up to a blip. So here I am with family hoping for the great Guillermo's experience I'm used to only to fall short again. We were seated in the tiny front section again. Luckily there were no flies buzzing this time. Our young waiter who was sweet kept forgetting that he had a table in the front secluded section. There was a long hair in our wrapped utensils. And mind you I'm trying to keep my cool and enjoy my lunch but things just kept getting worse. My favorite appetizer the spinach artichoke dip was barely warm if you can call it that. The bread pieces that came with it looked old and cold. A person at my table returned her whole dish because she was not happy with it even though she tried powering through despite it was not exactly as she ordered it. My chicken pepperoni dish was okay, but not as good as I remember it all the times before. I only had a few bites and brought the rest home. The only good part of my meal was the spinach pasta salad. I love a good patio! Who doesn't? It's always good to find that perfect spot where you can enjoy the perfect (and sometimes crazy) Texas weather and have good food and drinks with friends....and yes people! Guillermo's is that perfect place. I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of bread in general...I think is that kind of food, that just takes away too much space in your stomach and keeps you from eating other delicious stuff. BUT I've finally found the butter to my bread (or the other way around). The bread that they use in their subs is buttery and perfectly seasoned. They make it fresh EVERYDAY and use it for their sandwiches ...is totally mind blowing! And you have to try their Alfredo tomato pasta! It's so creamy and delicious....you gotta trust me on this one! But what really made my night, wasn't their delicious pasta or decadent bread...it was their salsa...yes! You heard me right I have to start by saying that all my friends know, that they key to my heart is... a good salsa. And ooohhh my!!! Guillermo's won my heart and soul! We came back to Guillermo's for lunch. It was a gorgeous day, so we sat on the patio. Our server, Joseph, was friendly and brought our drink order right away. We decided to order a pizza since we heard so much about it.. .and we weren't disappointed! We made our own and chose pepperoni, sausage, crushed garlic, sun dried tomatoes and bacon on a thin and crispy crust. The toppings were fresh and plentiful and the crust was crispy (although I prefer uber-crispy crusts) enough to give it a good crunch. I believe our servers name was Oscar. He made sure we had a great first experience! Me and my bf split the calzone with spinach, sausage and pepperoni and it was VERY good. Comes with some home made sauce on the side. He got a Cesar salad with anchovies to start and I got the pasta salad. . I also got a passion fruit margarita since it was happy hour (yay!) Went back today for late lunch early dinner on the patio.Everything was lovely. You could really see the team pull things together and doing their best to keep things running top notch. From the get go things were buzzing and everyone played their roll well. There was a gentle breeze blowing in the wind and it was a sunny day out in their beautiful patio. I had never been seated outside before and we were the first guest be seated out on the patio that early evening.All around it was a great experience eating there from the arrival to the close out and as always the food was superb. The waitress had suggested a few appetizers and then offered us a lovely drink menu with lots of great selection & on that day it was oh so welcomed. Everything was perfect on this day. I had had a couple of experiences prior to this visit that were less than desirable to say the least. However,I am writing this review to say that after trying another time and taking a chance coming here's again, I am glad I came back. Still some of the best Italian food around and I will certainly be back to enjoy the patio in the fall! read more

I found this restaurant while traveling near downtown. This restaurant's located on the north side of downtown area. I called in an order, ordering a 16 inch Chicago style pizza, and a bowtie pasta salad. My ordering experience was excellent. Once driving to this restaurant and parking in their own parking lot, signs as well as employee guidance me to an outdoor bar area were pick up orders are paid for and received. Again, service was excellent. I paid for my food, and was advised that there was a small wait time on my pizza. At that time, I was asked if I would like something to drink.Broken record time, but worth mentioning, excellent service. My food was brought out within 10 minutes of entering the restaurant. Once getting everything home, the bowtie pasta salad was on point (As a matter of fact, I'll try to replicate this recipe on my next barbecue, it was that good). Well worth trying. The pizza however, at that point, was a little over 30 minutes old. The soggy factor had set in. I'm guessing if we would've eaten this at the restaurant, we would have I had a different experience. Very poor reception when we walked in. We requested to sit inside and the hostess escorted to a table, placed our menus and silverware on the table and walked away. The table was sticky and wet. We asked to sit at a different table and the hostess's attitude was very inappropriate stated she would clean it. A few minutes later she returned with other customers and was intending to sit them where we asked to sit and started to to clean the our table. At this point we decided to leave. Horrible service and even worse pizza! We were sat inside due to there being a long wait for exterior seating. We saw our waitress twice when she took our order and brought us our drinks, that was it. There were also no other tables seated in the entire area where we were sat. A different server dropped off our pizza that took about 35 minutes to get to our table. We had no plates so we had to eat off of the pizza pan. Pizza was cold, tasted awful, and had an extremely soggy texture for the crust. It seemed as if it had been sitting a while before someone brought it to our table. Drinks were empty and no one ever came back to our table. We had to go to the host stand to get our check and pay. I would absolutely not recommend going here. read more
