Ordered Gumba's via DoorDash yesterday night. Once again, they never fail. Sometimes restaurants skimp out when the food is take out. Not Gumba's! I love their service whether I'm dinning in or ordering delivery. The food all came well packaged and there was no spillage. So you can say the ambiance was great with it being delivery.

Food is delicious! The prices are a little high, but the portion sizes are pretty big. I always have leftovers, so it makes the prices worth it.

The restaurant has a wonderful, authentic family-business vibe, and the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. However, the service left a bit to be desired - our waiter was somewhat rude, which put a damper on the experience.

My husband and I came here for the first time around 6pm on Thursday evening and were seated right away. All of the staff is really nice and the food was good! We ordered the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo with clam chowder and a large Stromboli pizza with garlic ranch sauce. I really liked the pizza crust. We got a tiramisu for dessert and they also gave complimentary chocolate ice cream! We really enjoyed our visit and I'm surprised the overall yelp rating isn't much higher. We definitely will be back!

Everytime I walk sunnyvale downtown and visit the weekly farmers market, I would always eat at this place. Things has changed since. It doesn't feel authentic anymore. Staff are loud. Speaking Spanish and loud. I thought I was in a Mexican restaurant. It's lost it ambience. Place is also a clutter.Clam chowders cold and taste like powder chowder.theyre short staff that they don't even bother to check on you. I was waiting for a box. They running back and forth.I think there's a new new owner. Big Chinese mix looking man. No free sourdough bread.

This place is a smaller restaurant in the strip of restaurants in downtown Sunnyvale and it's actually kinda meh. I came here with a friend and it was moderately empty, with slightly slower service and sadly the food was just kind of ok. I went there with a friend and ordered the: Veal Parmigiana - REALLY overcooked. I mean, really, tough and crunchy Linguine Seafood - the sauce was pretty good! Decent amount of scallops, small amount of calamari and shrimp Clam Chowder - oh man, this was one not great. Just flour based broth, that didn't really taste of clams and a few clams at the bottom. No veggies or anything At the end of the meal, we both received a free orange sherbet, which was actually really good, though most likely not made there either. The other bad part is the parking. Parking in downtown Sunnyvale is a nightmare. A literal nightmare that can take a while of searching for a spot, which made the food seem worse for the effort.

Artichoke Pizza! pair it with their garlic ranch

Really liked this place... easy 4 stars. It's not fancy, it's not cheap (but not expensive either). The food was good and the waiter was super friendly. Had the following: Arriabata Pasta Spaghetti and Meatballs Small Artichoke Pizza Minestrone Clam Chowder Fried sampler Clam Chowder was ok. It was elevated when I added some of their garlic ranch sauce to it. The garlic ranch sauce was offered with the pizza but it was ranch with fresh garlic in it. So basically, the clam chowder is amazing if you ask the wait for some fresh garlic to add to it :) Arrabbiata Pasta had good flavor. The waiter even brought out a more concentrated spicier sauce for me to try. Delicious. Actually added some that sauce to the clam chowder Wife really liked the meatballs in the spaghetti. Sauce good and home made. Pass on the fried sampler... it's a fried sampler. Minestrone was gluten free and had good flavor as well. I'm kinda curious what this place's tomato sauces would taste with fresh pasta. Artichoke pizza was delicious paired with garlic ranch. Overall, i'm a happy camper.

Wow like amazing For a person who's been living in the same area for more than 25 years walks into this place to find out how they have a "green " marked vegetarian section. The pastas pizzas and the sauces with no eggs or any meat content . The manager and the staff were totally helpful and kind. We ordered bruschetta for starters alongwith vegetarian calzone, spinach ravioli with arabiatta sauce, spaghetti with cheese ravioli combo, pesto gnocchi. They all come with a side of soup or salad . We ordered minestrone soup .. totally delicious!! The manager was so kind that he served us complimentary orange flavored sorbet yumm ;) since there was no eggless dessert. Watched Seahawks win over Rams ;) the place had nice Italian charm !! Out to go Italian place with mice downtown charm !!

    VEGAN Sandwich
    Grace X.

I had the vegan sandwich a la carte delivered for a work lunch. Sandwich was well filled and very tasty, had artichokes, mushrooms, eggplant, avocado. Nice that they had a designated vegan option, although it appears to be pretty much the only option on the entire menu. Sandwich was pretty big.

Went on a Sunday after church service. The staff was very nice. I was not super hungry and there were not many choices for small plates. I settled for the mini pizza, which is more like a small. I loved the crust, which was thin & the edges had a nice crunch. I was a little disappointed with the sauce. Not enough of it! They did end our meal with a complimentary dessert. I would give 3.5 Stars over all if I could.

Gumba's Italian Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Gumba's Italian Restaurant

Are the pastas homemade, or just the sauce?

    Homemade

Have they changed owners? Did they stop serving COMPLIMENTARY (aka Free) sourdough bread, soup and ice cream when ordering the regular entrees?

I went there for lunch and received complimentary sherbet after the meal. My friend had a Caesar’s salad and it came with bread; I think it was included with the price of the salad. I had a sandwich so I don’t know about the free sourdough bread.

I have a Groupon for your restaurant but with the new county restrictions for dining in, can my Groupon be used for takeout?

Hi Mr. David, yes you may use the GroupOn for Takeout. The only restrictions, when using GroupOn vouchers @ Gumbas, are the exclusions of steak, seafood, or veal ingredients. If you have any other questions, please call us at 408.737.8384

Are there any vegan options here? Thanks!

Hi Dan, thanks for your question. We do have about 8 different vegan options from our Vegetarian Menu. Some of these are: steamed veggie platter, Fettuccini arrabbiatti, Fettuccini Asparagus & Zucchini Primavera, Gnocchi Pomodoro, Penne Primavera,…

Could Gumba's handle 20 hungry 18 years olds? Need to feed a water polo team, and coach wants chicken, salad & pasta!

Yes. You’ll probably get the back room. I hosted a rehearsal dinner for a family members wedding years ago. I recall about 25 ppl during our visit. When you call for reservations, it helps them reserve the long table and they do have other tables…

However, after the incident, observation and order of food I received on 6/13/26, I cannot support this location. As mentioned we always had a pleasant experience at this location, with great service and great food. But this day the entire staff was off, and it was mainly due to the negative, micromanaging and rude manager/owner Partika. From the moment I walked in the establishment the vibe seemed completely off than what I was use to from past visits. It was scorching hot inside and the employees looked miserable. I quickly figured out why, as I placed my order with the gentleman upfront who was doing a great job, and here comes Partika hovering over him and reaching over him re-asking my order, although the employee had already entered it in and was simply trying to ask if I wanted to add anything else. Once done and paid, she then moves to the back counter and begins to holler over to the employees in the back about hurrying up with tickets, although they weren't very busy. I stood to the side as I had ordered a slice to grab now for my child, and then a full pizza and wings to go. Upon waiting, Partika approaches and tells me to sit down. I looked at her and told her it was not her discretion and I would await the slice to come right out as I already discussed with the employee. Once I obtain the slice i exit and wait in my vehicle in front of establishment. Out comes Partika harassing two men who had just finished up their pizza when I originally walked in and were still sitting at one of the table now having a refreshment from the adjoining establishment. She told them they could not sit at the tables they were reserved for her customers, and they told her they had just ate there and she begin to argue that now they had to move . Be advised there were many tables outside that any guest could choose from and her establishment was far from busy. Once my order was ready, I went back inside , and again she was arguing with another customer who stated the pizza she attempted to hand her was not hers if she could double check. Her rude comment was yes this is yours and the customer explained no her receipt clearly showed this was not her order. The gentleman apologized for the entire ordeal I had experienced and seen and gave me my order , in which I asked who she was and her name for reference. She then bolted towards me asking what the problem in which I told her the issue is she is very rude to very customer I had seen her interact with in the last 20 minutes. Fast forward to arriving home to now enjoy pizza and wings with my family. Open the box and the cheese is stuck to the top bc they failed to properly package it to avoid this mishap. Furthermore several of the winds were undercooked which could have created severe illness. I blame her presence, bad attitude and rushing her staff for these issues. I love the Tony Gemignani pizza brand but this Slice House in Mountain View has a terrible manager/ owner Partika who needs better customer service skills as well as management skills. I much rather have spent $100 with an establishment who had good customer interaction and treated their staff with respect.

I've had Detroit Pizza before and I must say I'm a fan! Given they were just in San Jose, I never really got a chance to try them over the last couple of years. Until they opened this pop up cloud kitchen in Sunnyvale! We had a party at our place so we had quite a decent crowd and needed a lot of pizza. Given the crowd had a fair few vegetarians, we decided to stay fully vegetarian, and to get some variety - ordered two of the Detroit Pizza's - the Margherita and the Greek, and one of the Sicilian - the Veggie on Evelyn (not on their original San Jose menu I believe). Friendly person taking the order on the phone - helped out with suggestions! It took around 30-35 minutes and was ready when I arrived. The Detroit Pizza was a HUGE hit, especially the Margherita. People (including me) loved the Detroit style pizza - many knew about Chicago style deep dish but not the Detroit style. So they were pleasantly surprised. The excess sauce/cheese went along just great, and the fact that it was simple in terms of the number of toppings (Margherita) allowed us to enjoy its flavor profile more. The Greek was a little salty because of the feta cheese I personally felt but still good overall. Personally, I wasn't as high on the Sicilian as after having the Detroit style Pizza probably because it was loaded in terms of toppings (lots of veggies). But the group enjoyed that as well and I must say we almost finished up all the Pizza. I'm not sure if the Pizza is cooked in Sunnyvale or in San Jose. But I know for sure I'll be getting more slice of homage soon. I hope they can open up an actual restaurant closer to where I am! I would rate it 4.5, but reducing it to 4 because I didn't enjoy the Sicilian as much, and I felt maybe it was slightly overpriced.

There's a good selection of vegetarian and vegan pizzas, not to mention a variety of other items, but I am generally here for pizza. The lunch slice deals are a great value for the Bay Area, and the large pizza and salad deal is also fantastic. I will sometimes get the large pizza and salad deal for lunch (their Arugula Salad is wonderful, and the Pear and Walnut salad is also great) and take most of the pizza to go for dinner with my husband later. Their Cajun fries aren't quite as good as Five Guys, but they're very good and when I go with my coworker we often split an order. I like the Tuscan Mushroom pizza best, but the Berkeley Vegan with the vegan sausage is also really good (as long as you're okay with vegan cheese, which I know some people are not since it has a different texture). I think my husband's favorite is the Greek pizza, and my usual lunch buddy likes the sweet and spicy vegan pizza. The interior hasn't changed since this used to be a Zpizza, but is clean and modern. There are two large TVs that typically have some sports game or other playing on them, so if you are looking for somewhere to eat that lets you keep an eye on the game, this could be a good spot (recently it's been soccer, probably World Cup stuff). There's a rewards club thing, but I have yet to successfully enter my reward coupon from it (the kiosk seems to log me out once I enter it...), so your mileage may vary with that.
