I've been craving some great Mediterranean food in Katy for a long time and stumbled upon Gyro King. After ordering some take out for my family this is what I thought of the food. THE GOOD: the rice plates came with wayyyy more meat than I expected which was a welcomed surprise! In addition, the meat was marinated to perfection and cooked just right to where it was tender and juicy! The meat paired well with their amazing rice and chickpeas and corn salad (something that you don't really find in a lot of Mediterranean rice plates but tasted amazing). The falafel gyro was very tasty and fried to perfection, it wasn't seeping with grease, like a lot of places falafels do! THE BAD: The white sauce was a little too creamy and ranch-like in my opinion. The garlic flavor was definitely there but it was masked by the overpowering cream flavor, which wasn't exactly to my liking. I ended up ordering the fries, but unfortunately they ended up being a little soggy (which could've been because of my drive home and the steam from the box causing it to get soggy) and they lacked a fair share of seasoning. Will I be back? YES! Most definitely, the meat and rice plates were cooked better than any other Mediterranean rice plate I've ever had and the falafel gyro would delight even the pickiest if vegetarian eaters! read more

I tried this place last night since I love gyros. They prepare their gyros differently than most gyros places I have been to. They put a spicy red sauce on it which they should put it on the side or ask me if I want it on my gyro. It basically made the gyro spicy. It wasn't a bad thing but just different. I prefer it without the red sauce. I got the lamb meat in my gyro and I noticed they chopped the lamb meat in pieces as opposed to them being in thin slices. I did not like the fact that you pay $2.50 for fries and a canned soda. So if you are dining in as I was, you cannot get refills since there isn't any soda water fountain. I do like the cleanliness of the establishment. The gyro was ok. I will try something else the next time I visit. read more

Falafel Gyro is my go-to and finished off with the Tiramisu. Three times already. The gyro is stuffed with healthy tomatoes, cucumber, onions and parsley in a pita. Falafel also comes in a salad and rice platter but I always stick with the gyro. Yummy. read more

Finally we have the Gyro King in Katy :) We had to drive to HW6 to get Gyros, but no more. It had a sift opening, the interiors are clean. With the Covid19 situation, it looks sanitized and all the employees were wearing masks and gloves. Got lamb gyro over rice with extra meat. The flavor tasted good!! The salads were fresh. The white and red sauce were awesome. Reducing one star for the customer service, as the associate was making my platter ready, the supervisor was clearly saying "that's enough" when she was adding for extra meat I had paid for. Dear Gyro King, I'm not going to dog you and give you 3 stars because I'm angry, but I'm hoping you will reach out to me to resolve the issue and give me a $20 credit for the food I just received via Uber Eats. I know your probably understaffed with Covid, or tired on a late Saturday night, or maybe I ordered at the wrong time. It's midnight, I'm a restaurant manager, and the last thing I wanna do when I get home after a 12 hr shift is cook, I saw your instagram which has amazing mouth watering photos, and I decided to try you guys out. I've been eating gyros all my life. I'm from Chicago. Up there (and anywhere I've ever ordered) gyro meat comes right off the rotating spit in long slices, which holds the flavor better and is how it's supposed to be prepared, on a spit. Served with tzatiki sauce, sliced onions, pita tomato. This was nothing comparable because you dice your meat in little pieces. I ordered the Combo meat platter of Lamb + chicken over rice. When I received it, there was no chicken, it looked like someone removed the chicken to correct an order. I paid for 2 sides of red sauce and received none, I paid for feta cheese and received none, (gyros ALWAYS COME WITH FETA CHEESE!) , I paid for 3 pitas and received two, (gyro platters should always come with pita! How you gonna eat it?) However I will say the tiny piece of lamb I tried was flavorful and tender but not comparable to the sliced method. I was so angry and pissed when I opened my order because it was nothing I expected. I know everyone has different expectations or maybe it's because I'm in a real restaurant that prepares food for quality, but come on. Diced onions? Diced onions hold no flavor. Diced lamb meat? Again, withholds the flavor. I'm missing my sauce, which I can't eat the food without, missing feta cheese which again you can't eat a gyro without! Maybe it's a Houston thing, but these are not how real gyros are prepared. Or gyro platters. I would appreciate a refund and reach out, or credit, to perhaps try your juices or other items to give you a second chance. read more

I went to this particular Gyro King for the first time last night to pick up three gyros, one for my husband, one for my Greek brother & one for myself. The woman behind the counter by the name of Monica was one of the friendliest people I have ever met. She was very kind and professional, and when I got home to eat, I couldn't believe how delicious the gyros that she made for us were!! My Greek brother who definitely need knows Greek food said it was one of the best gyros he has ever had. I am Mexican but I have definitely been to many many authentic Greek restaurants, in Connecticut and New York!! And I must agree with my brother, the gyro she made for me was hands-down the best gyro I have ever had! So if I could give my review more stars I would. I was excited to try Gyro King as I am a big fan of Halal Guys, but I was very disappointed. I ordered a platter and it was just okay. Fresh veggies, that's about it. The tzatziki sauce is basically ranch, and after leaving I still have a terrible aftertaste in my mouth. I do not recommend and will not return. Lunch Time. First time entering Gyro King after receiving a menu card in the mail. Only two other customers present. A very unattended unfriendly employee at the register did obviously not understand that we first looked at the card to see what is available. The Gyros Grill was not loaded and running. Should have been the first warning sign. After ordering, pita Gyros and large gyro fries, the employee started preparing the pita and rolling it into aluminium foil. Second warning sign The Gyro was taking out of a stainless steel bowl in the prepping area and brought back in the kitchen area. Third warning sign. Convection oven??? Finally we could pick up near the back kitchen. Not brought to the table. The final result? The Puta was totally crispy. The only fresh made part in the complete meal have been the fries. No mayonnaise available for the fries. The Gyros it self was not very warm, very dry and totally overrated. Honestly, I am a Gyros expert. I am very sad to say, you get more lettuce than lamb. The pita bread is hard and stale. I had to pay a little extra for Sauce. Total$8.66 with tax. No fries .27 extra for Taziki sauce. I was very disappointed. The Taziki sauce is watery, not that great! read more

The only reason I am giving this one star is because the french fries are good. This was my first time ordering from here and the lamb and chicken gyros were WAAAAY to spicy. There, unfortunately, was no indication that these would be spicy and no one in my family likes spicy food. We were not able to eat them. Traditional gyros have the white sauce which is delicious. Apparently they add an additional red sauce that makes them spicy. They should indicate this on their menu. My 2 year old loves gyros and I couldnt give her any! I stumbled across Gyro King in 2019 when I was doing low carb and hadn't carried lunch to work. I was on the Southwest side and when I googled low carb locations, this establishment came up. So, way before this Katy location opened up, I was a regular customer at the Bissonett location. And yes, I would drive more than 30 minutes from home to pick up. I liked the food. When the Katy location opened up I was ecstatic! My drive was halved for the same deal. Depending on how I'm feeling, I will order gyro fries, and sometImes add combo salad. I have been traveling for work the past 2 months and so since I am back, I couldn't wait to hit my fave spot. So I called in my order for large gyro-fries. I arrived to pick it up and lo and behold! Inflation has hit Gyro king! They have downsized to smaller containers BUT still charging the SAME PRICE! I was flabbergasted! I called the store and inquired about this. My question was, "if this is the large, are you serving the small in bowls??"!! The gentleman that answered proceeded to adamantly assure me that the measurements are the same, only the container has changed! I don't know what kind of uninformed people they are used to dealing with, but I wasn't fooled one bit. This is definitely NOT a large container, and the amount is definitely NOT the same. I have been eating their food consistently, going on 3 years! I would know. Also I am a serial take-out person. I know the difference. As evidenced by the accompanying pics (I was out of the large white one but found the black from the same batch). Also note that their 'large' has partitions. This matters. Not the best gyro I've had but it wasn't bad. I do like the fact that they open late. I guess the later in the evening you go they have the meat already cut up and stored because I'm used to it being carved. I just had the regular lamb gyro with fries. Finally! I am so happy this place finally opened the only time I was able to have it was to go OST and it was always a hassle but worth it! However, now it's super close to the house and flavor is as good as the first location! The good thing is they carry more variety of toppings for salad... What started off as a food truck off OST (and still there!) has grown into many locations throughout the Houston area and I couldn't be happier that they're here in Katy now as well!
