I went to get some ice cream cause I was just dying in the heat so I walk into Haagen-Dazs and ordered a banana split. the service was just amazing and I loved going inside after 3 hours of directing movies. the ambiance was great for the kids and the guy who made our ice cream named Vir so shout out to Vir everybody cause he was very kind to every body there. It's hard to compare chain ice cream places like this to more unique non-mass produced flavors such as Bobboi, An's Dry Cleaning, and Stella Jean's, but when the prices still are just as much if not more I still expected slightly better. I got the cookies n creme sundae here and it was pretty decent. Its creaminess and milkiness really shine. There was a perfect amount of syrup for the sundae too. However, considering the price tag, I would have to give a 2 star. So many more quality ice cream places have better quality per dollar than this place. The service was great here during the Thanksgiving weekend. The server was polite, patient, and took time answering our questions. My friend and I ordered the same sundae made by two different people, my sundae was almost melted like a shake and everything mixed not layered like hers. They are very pricey for a mediocre sundae. Service is not the best. I originally wanted a fruit sherbet but it was so frozen you could see the ice in the sherbet so I opted for the melted ice cream instead. They serve Peets here, which is decent blend. The gentleman that prepared my order was very nice and accommodating. I would like to report a manager for this location Todays date is 01/28/22 and this took place between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm . My sons and I walked in to grab a few scoops of ice cream and a milkshake . Two employees on the floor , one manager , one server. The server ask me what I'd like , I asked for a scoop of strawberry ice cream on a cake cone , she hands me a kids cup with the strawberry ice cream, I ask for a scoop of vanilla in a medium cup, I was handed again a mini scoop in a cup . Which I wasn't going to complain about, the problem came when I asked for a strawberry banana milkshake. The server asked if I wanted the shake or the smoothie, I repeated the milkshake. She looks at the manager and the manager starts breaking down the difference between dairy and non dairy about 3 times in a row to the point where I couldn't tell her I know the difference, and I know what I'm asking for , I'd like a strawberry banana milkshake ... they walk away and talk in Spanish in front of me about the milkshake that I just asked for .... At this point I'm a tad furious. I'm being treated like I'm illiterate and I can't comprehend what I'm asking for. The manager walks to me again and ask me am I sure I want a milkshake ... a milkshake is dairy .. and I said yes , I'd like strawberry ice cream, and a banana, for a milkshake. She replied " well that's a topping " like I didn't order it correctly. So I walked out. The manager followed me to the parking garage , and accused me a stealing the two minis the server handed me. I left both on the counter . I told her I didn't take anything. She replied well they aren't there , and I replied check your cameras . She then tried to make up more excuses about me ordering a milkshake and how I was wrong about it , and I replied that had been to plenty of hagen daz locations and I've never had this problem . She walked away with nothing to say . I'd like to be contacted about this matter immediately. I'm not sure if the staff were on drugs or what but my kids had to witness me being disrespected and harassed. I felt unsafe and felt as though I was being accused of stealing , when I was treated as if I was a dumb and didn't now what I wanted and followed to me to my car and accused of stealing, and accused of not ordering what I wanted correctly. read more

Ran here on a much desperate need for ice cream the night before my cousins wedding. I had a long complicated list of ice cream cravings by 5 deprived girls. I was the one who was sent on the quest and the employees at this location helped me with everything. This location is in a prime spot in the downtown La Jolla area. The place itself is quite small as it is a petite ice cream shop. However, don't let size determine anything this place is amaaazzzing . I've always loved this ice cream but coming to the actual location is that much better. The employee who assisted me was patient with my multiple ordered and got everything together rapidly and efficiently. It would have been a non-issue but there was a cone stand and a plastic barrier between us and our beverages. Haagen Daz has been an iconic creamistry for as long as I can remember, but coming across their store front is a bit more elusive nowadays. I don't think I've heard much talk about them since I was 12, but tucked neatly in the heart of La Jolla is this joint, and coming back to it brought back child hood nostalgia. I picked up a single scoop Peanut Butter and Chocolate Fudge (vegan/nondairy) on a cone, and it was wonderful. It tasted like Rieces Pieces, and didn't have any wonky undertones or graininess, nor the use of bananas and coconut cream! (Which imparts too much flavor on some of the more confectioner-based flavors) They have another vegan option that's heavier in chocolate, and was also very good and rich, called Chocolate Salted Caramel Fudge Truffle. I usually buy this guy in the pint at grocery stores, so I wanted to try something new. Overall I would come back for such a delicious, sweet treat! The staff is friendly and their ice-cream are easily on my top 3 for conventional/grocery store icecreams (it's even better in store) I can't thankyou enough for being on the forefront of helping bees as well as dairy cows for providing healthier, sustainable, cruelty free , and equally delicious options. read more
