Always great service at Hai Di Lao but we love this location in particular. It's spacious and have all the food options. My fave is their dumplings, Wagu beef, shrimp paste and mixed vegetables. I recently discovered their dessert bar, too so make sure you don't miss it before you leave. read more

Haidilao Arcadia is one of the most luxurious locations I've ever come across. Just wait til you see the inside of this place - it's gorgeous with a perfectly dim lit ambiance. The servers are very attentive and patient. They will teach you how to order from the iPad, especially if this is your first time. The meat, vegetables, soup, and drink selections are of top quality. I highly recommend the premium gold fish maw chicken soup base - it's the kind of soup will warm your soul and tantalize your taste buds simultaneously. Also the signature marinated beef tenderloin is delicious! It's one of the items that are often glanced past on the menu but I highly recommend it! The dancing noodle is also a must have, great for a nice little show and a reward of fresh hand pulled noodles seconds in your soup seconds after the show. There is also a DIY sauce, side dish, and dessert section with plenty of selections. I thought the add on charge of $3.99 for the DIY station a little steep though. Haidilao is one of those delicious "special occasion" dinners. We went here for an early dinner and were thoroughly satisfied! It was a bit pricey but I think it's worth it to go every once in a while. We got beef brisket, pork belly, lamb shoulder, tripe, fish tofu, and napa cabbage. For our soups we got the spicy beef tallow and tomato. The spicy beef tallow soup is so spicy I couldn't really eat more than a bite. But, I have a pretty weak spice tolerance. It was super flavorful though! My tomato soup base was delicious, sweet, and savory. It was thicker than a regular soup and coated the meat and vegetables nicely. The restaurant is clean and large inside with a lot of tables and space. I like how the gave us a little cart with any small things we might need like napkins, plates, hair ties, wipes, and even lens wipes. Haidilao's service really can't be beat. The staff is attentive and think of everything! They even gave us aprons so we didn't get food on our clothes. I am yet to see another restaurant who thinks of all the details like Haidilao. Also! Our server Enzo was so nice and he even gave us toys at the end of the meal when we asked. read more

I recently came here with my cousin, and there wasn't a wait at all during the weekday. I've had this spot bookmark for quite some time and I'm so glad we finally decided to have lunch here! We ordered fruit peach tea and a watermelon juice and it was so fresh! They have a self-serve bar that had ponzu, goma, chili oil, cabbage, kimchi, and some other little small sides to dip with your meat or protein. It was our first time and the menu was pretty confusing and it was all done on an iPad. My cousin and I ordered ala carte and I think it made our bill quite expensive lol. We spent $200 for two people. We ordered our soup base and not sure if it included veggies or not, but we ordered some on the side with a mushroom combo. For the meat, we ordered the ribeye and the short rib. Very high-quality meat. Super delicious and I wished they gave us more details about how the combos worked because I think we over spent what we should have. I didn't get a chance to order the dancing noodles, but that would be something, I am looking forward to the next time we come here! read more

My first hot pot experience. The food? Impressive. The menu features a wide variety of broths which was great, from spicy Sichuan to tomato and mushroom and you can split your pot to try multiple flavors. The ingredient list is extensive: thinly sliced beef, fresh seafood, tofu varieties, leafy greens, etc. Everything is fresh, high quality, and arrived quickly. You cook everything at your table, and the sauce bar is elite, when it's your first time you get to go for free to get dozens of ingredients to mix your own perfect dipping sauce. I did a sesame oil, garlic, and cilantro combo. Prices are on the higher side, but it's worth it for the quality, service, and experience. One of my favorite hot pop places in SGV for years. I always love the food in there. The meats are so fresh and tasty. Free snacks and fruits all the time. The service was excellent and I love our server Zizi. She's lovely and helpful. We asked for extra snacks and she gave us a big of snacks. Yummy I finally tried Haidilao with a group of friends, and it was such a fun experience. The moment we walked in, the staff greeted us like VIPs. There was a 20-minute wait, but they offered free drinks, snacks, and even let us play board games. Some people were getting free manicures - seriously, where else does that happen? We ordered the half-and-half broth: spicy Sichuan on one side and tomato on the other. The tomato broth was surprisingly delicious - rich and slightly sweet. For ingredients, we got the signature fatty beef, shrimp paste, lamb rolls, tripe, and hand-pulled noodles. Everything tasted fresh, especially the shrimp paste (so bouncy and flavorful). The noodle-pulling performance was entertaining - our server really put on a show! The sauce bar is overwhelming in a good way - about 20+ ingredients. I recommend their "secret sauce" with sesame paste, garlic, cilantro, and a spoon of spicy broth. Service was next-level. Staff kept filling our drinks, brought aprons and hair ties, and even gave us a complimentary fruit platter at the end. They also brought a small dessert and a cute note because it was my friend's birthday. read more

We made a phone call at 6pm and left our name down. The worker said the wait is about 30min. We rushed to the restaurant and told them we arrived at 6:20. The hostess told us the wait time is around 25min from the time we arrived so that means 6:45. We went back in the restaurant at 6:50 to learn that we are not even close to getting a table. She said she cannot give me an estimate of how long the wait will be now. She is planning to seat the tables that made reservation at 7 before our turn so now our wait has moved to 5 more tables down. We ended up going somewhere else. We finally got a call back at 7:24pm. Which means it's almost 1.5 hr wait time from the time we called. They need a better system on giving us more realistic wait time. We wouldn't even have come if the wait is 1.5hr. read more

This is the closest HDL from me so this is my go-to. However, the only thing I don't like about it are the individual pots. Other than that, the food, service, and quality is still good. I do wish they switch up the cold dishes at the snack bar a bit more. read more

When I think about quality hot pot, I always crave Hidilao. The Arcadia location is beautiful! Service was amazing as always - May was our waitress and was very friendly and helpful. Food was great! So much variety to choose from, the options were endless. Everything was very fresh and I loved the side dishes and desserts they provided on the side carts. Service was great also. Our server was very attentive and made additions to our order when we needed to order more. Everyone is friendly and they smile a lot. It's been a while since I've been back to this location, but we happened to be at the mall when the hot pot cravings hit. For a weekday dinner, it wasn't overly busy, which was nice. Our server, Gabriel, did a great job taking care of us and making sure we had everything we needed. Some of the items we ordered were the A5 beef, fried dough (my must-get), handmade noodles, crab sticks, and a few others. The sauce bar was clean and always restocked. Overall, it was the solid hot pot experience I'd expect from Hai Di Lao. I'll definitely be coming back again. And don't forget to sign up for their points if you're a regular! read more

I like to give business benefit of the doubt but didn't feel that connection with this business.. meat quality ... super duper generous but fatty as fuck.. $24.99 is Ayce meat only $3.99 for sauce $7.99+ soup so basically AYCE 41.99 without Veggies ... We came here for dinner on a Thursday in early May 2025 via car. Parking was free since this restaurant was in the same plaza as the Santa Anita mall. We paid for AYCE but only 6 trays of meat came out. We had 5 very hungry people with us and 3 of us left hungry. We sat there for 30 minutes waiting for more meat to come out but none ever came out. Then our time ran out - we only had 2 hours. We ordered 2 drinks, 2 types of veggies, 3 sauce/dessert bar ($3.99 each), and 4 different types of unlimited meats, which was the discount after 9pm on Thursdays. It was such a waste of money. We ended up paying $54.34 (including tip) per person. When we asked the waitress about it, she told us that they only had one meat cutter in the back. We didn't even get a discount. We are never coming back. read more

The largest single table is a long high top with 12 pots that can seat 12 guests together. For larger parties we'd have to seat guests at two or more separate tables right next to each other.

Some are some aren't. They are all marked and labeled in the self serve bar and there's lots of waiters around always , so you can ask too :) I recommend doing the vinegar base with some of their garlic/chili/green onion and a splash of chili oil :)…

For the first three dishes, we clarified with the owner to make this vegetarian (also vegan), which she was able to do very easily and without question. We communicated with her in Chinese, but she also spoke English to us, when we discovered that our Chinese was likely not as fluent as native speakers. Everything was flavorful, without relying on just an overwhelming amount of salt, and we really enjoyed the green beans that seemed to be cooked in fermented bean paste. First off, the takoyaki octopus balls were full of flavor. I feel that this place does them really well. You don't feel overwhelmed by any seafood tastes and instead, you get well balanced flavor throughout every bite with the combination of the ball itself, the sauces and the flakes on top. Next is the omurice. The egg is cooked to perfection and tastes absolutely amazing. The curry, however, which was recommended by the waiter over the Demi glaze, tasted exactly like the Vermont curry cube you get in the grocery store, so I'm not sure why he recommended that over the Demi glaze. The fried rice within the omurice was alright too. Originally, I wanted to get the tonkatsu omurice but got it on the side as the choice wasn't available for the lunch menu. I would suggest doing without the tonkatsu because it was dry and there's a million and one places that can do tonkatsu better than this place. Honestly, I wish I had the opportunity to cut the omurice myself and choose how much curry I put on it, but the staff did that instead, which I guess made for a good video, but took away from my innate desires to cut the egg on my own haha. Next, the ramen tasted pretty basic like what you could get at any ramen shop. For the chicken wings, I've never had chicken wings in this flavor. They were really really good and I would definitely recommend the wings. For the desserts, I enjoyed both the matcha and the snow globe. I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, however. The snow globe is a gelatin and it doesn't really have too much flavor until you get to the parts with the flower. Plus the little clear balls have a nice flavor and texture. For the matcha, it has an interesting texture and then an interestingly light, yet deep matcha flavor. Oh the drinks. The Thai tea tastes exactly like how it does everywhere else. Now, let's talk about the culinary journey I embarked on: Hai Di Lao Coconut Chicken Broth: While the quality of the broth was undeniable, I personally found the infusion of coconut a tad unusual. The sweet undertones typically associated with coconut seemed intriguing in a hot broth, though it's not my usual preference. Ultimate Surf 'n' Turf Platter: This dish was a masterpiece, both visually and in terms of flavor. It featured a delectable selection of seafood and meat, including succulent beef slices, shrimp, abalone, oysters, and what I believe were baby squids. The presentation was as impressive as the taste. Shrimp Paste Wrapped in Bamboo Fungus: Among the offerings, this stood out as a favorite. If I only have one word to describe the restaurant, I will use "amazing". I think this is one of the most memorable hot pot restaurants I have ever eaten. The first time I tried the food here, I really enjoyed it. When I arrived, the smell of pepper was through the doors and attracted my senses. The most important thing is that the workers can speak Chinese when ordering. They made the communication much easier for me. They also can speak English if you don't speak Chinese. To start, I would like to say that they have a wonderful service for the customers. When I was sitting on the chair, the staff gave me an elastic band for my hair, which helped me to tie up my long hair. At the same time, the staff passed an apron to me, so the apron prevented the soup to spill out on my clothes. Basically, their service was impeccable. They also have enough parking places, so you don't have to worry about the parking. The parking didn't cost any money. All of the food was really fresh. You picked up the sauce by yourself. In this restaurant, I really like the sauce bar. They have different sauces. For example, the sauces bar has soy sauce, salt, vinegar, and spicy oil. It also has some pickled radishes and mushrooms, and it offers a lot of fruits. If you don't eat fiery food, I highly recommend the tomato soup. The soup was not hot, and it has a little bit sweetness. In contrast, if you like spicy food, you can try the spicy pork soup. For me, I always choose the sizzling soup because the soup was like Guangzhou local hot pot soup. I also recommend that you order the dumpling. The dumplings were succulent. The texture of the dumplings are very smooth. The glass of watermelon juice was a little bit sweet. Even though I do not like food that is too sweet, I still loved it. I really definitely recommend this restaurant. The hot pot was very tasty, but it cost a lot of money. Make sure to double check the prices because the food prices were so high. I was just here for their soft opening. Right now, they are only taking dinner reservations every night of the week from 6-10pm. I don't think you can walk in, better call ahead to make sure. They have a full bar, but it's not open during soft opening. This is my first Haidilao experience, never tried it in China, but I've heard many great things about it. I got to say it's way better than most of the pot hot places I've been to in SoCal in terms of service, food quality and ambience. I really like the decor and ambience of the restaurant, modern chic with a hint of Chinese influence. The restaurant is open, inviting and at the same time very intimate. They use individual pots where you can choose your own soup base, but share the food plates. How thoughtful! They have an all you can eat sides/sauce bar for $3 and soup base selections for $5-6. We had the spicy soup base, seafood soup base and mushroom soup base. My favorite is the spicy one, the spiciness doesn't overpower its flavor, unlike many hot pot places where their soup base is just spicy but has no taste. When it comes to hot pot, I prefer my soup to be light so I can dip my food in sauces. The soup bases here are not as light as I like them to be, but it could be fixed with a cup of hot water. I would recommend ordering their Angus Prime ribeye, bone-in short rib, homemade scallop balls, homemade squid balls, homemade shrimp paste, tripe, specialty beef with egg yolk on top and specialty marinated chicken. The vegetables, mushroom and bean curd/tofu items are all pretty fresh. I didn't order any seafood item this time, but I should try them when I come back. Oh, don't forget the hand tossed noodle, they do a noodle dance and make it right at your table. It's both entertaining and yummy. Overall, great experience for a soft opening. So, after a long and prosperous Sunday morning attending church and such I want to spend my hard earned money somewhere worthwhile and high quality. I took my family to Hai di Lao and was a bit skeptical at first because it looked pretty pricey and there was no wait but because of the host, Alex Cheng we were convinced to spend our money here later in the nighttime (for dinner) Alex made it very clear he was proud to work behind this restaurant and was very hospitable towards my child because he was a father himself. So after a 45 minute wait in the nighttime, (When we came back, it's packed :0) we were sat down at a table very similar to other hot pot places only they have smaller pots and bigger portions of veggies! When we ordered we used the iPad to order! Technologically advanced in my opinion making our experience a lot less confusing than a person taking orders. So we ordered two orders of fried rice one egg and one shrimp and two Angus prime rib-eye (thinly sliced) these paired well with the many sauces they have made at the do it yourself section. This made an excellent eating experience for me and my wife but I'm more into Japanese Shabu so I just stuck with sesame and ponzu sauce. I also love how they have green onions and cilantro FRESH and desserts as well free and AYCE. Our bill came to about 65 with tip and at about 30 per person that seemed like a very steep price but behind those doors was a completely different experience! It's cool to see everyone hustling food everywhere and on top of that dancing noodles?! Outrageous! Thanks again Alex for showing me a good time, I appreciate your hard work and professionalism. Something is fishy about this place...I dont understand how its so expensive yet i hear they dont even pay the employees what they earn..guess thats what happens when most the workers cant speak or understand english. From the inside? I think not. Not for all the rice in china, from the outside, Beware of the hot pot, NOT ALL IS WHAT IT SEEMS! Check bank statements Make sure you are eating things in season..ever wonder why the servers seem to be so obedient? Maybe if not they go home, and not home like within the adjoining cities . But home, as in which way they were brought here. How you ask do they do this? CASH and COVER-UPS. Heres a suggestion when you google them and it sends you to yelp. Try checking their website the look and use will tell you how in order and on top of things they really are. It also looks very different from the China and Singapore ones. And franchise or corporation? I dont know but I think something besides the names could connect the U.S location to its brother and sisters so far from here. Considering this is the first born in western civilization, wouldnt the elders make sure the family name is secure? Or if they fail do they go home? its just one Hai Di Lao whats the harm it can do if No one finds out??? Oh and beware some of the employees arent as friendly as they seem. just keep looking at reviews, Maybe even the one not recommended. Ive seen how they harm people and punish those who dont obey their "rules" ha try HARASSMENT AND TORTURE! The staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic. They constantly check in, help with sauces, and explain menu items if needed. The highlight is the famous dancing noodle performance--a must-see. It's entertaining, interactive, and shows how much effort the staff puts into making the experience memorable. Food & Menu: This is not AYCE, but the menu has a strong variety of broths, meats, seafood, and vegetables, so it still feels customizable and worth it. the parking lot - why are the spaces nearest to lifts, escalators, stairways, entrances not for handicapped? the largest world population is old/handicapped - increase those spaces to reflect the need - kids don't have time to give parents rides ------------------ the open seating area of mall - got very dirty pads - yours & your kids feet & shoes shouldn't be on them - no smokers there too because all entrances are right there - no smoking on sidewalks too - anywhere people have to be you can't smoke them to horrible deaths ------------------ the restaurant - the food the portion the freshness the servers the interior ... all very nice - the soup is tasty - we got the mushroom (smell pleasantly mushroom) & the pork (wonderfully herbly) - the beef & lamb are fresh - the sauce bar is well stock - the appetizers are just great - beef hundred leaves & long green beans are our favorite - they were both crunchy - noodle is as it should be - a little on the hard side - rice is that way too - our server is the most efficient around - wendy - she can pack the left over vegetable pretty & neat inside plastic bag !! amazing - that night we got some tofu & meat & have another feast - if we live there we'll go to lunch there daily & dinner at least once a month - wendy is attentive, effieient, smart, eye pleasing, clean, not at all fake overly friendly - top best professional server they got many different types of seating - you can have "your" table, booth, long bench against wall, cage ... not just a sea of same table & chairs read more

We dined at Hai Di Lao Hot Pot in Arcadia on 7/28/24, and the experience was extremely disappointing and concerning. My daughter has a severe shellfish allergy, so we were very cautious. She wanted to try the chips served at the bar, so I asked the male server behind us three times in both English and Mandarin if the chips were regular or shrimp chips. Each time, he assured me they were regular chips with no shrimp content. However, my husband tasted the chips and immediately suspected they were shrimp chips. When we raised the issue with the main server at our table, instead of addressing our concern with urgency or getting a manager, she casually told us in Mandarin that the chips might contain "very little shrimp" and suggested it might not trigger my daughter's allergy. This response was shockingly negligent. Does the staff not understand that a shellfish allergy can be life-threatening? Thankfully, my daughter hadn't fully consumed the chip, but we still had to give her a whole cup of water and meds immediately . She felt unwell for the rest of our meal and refused to eat anything else. We have always loved Hai Di Lao for their food and service, having dined at locations in other countries like Vietnam and Japan. However, this experience at the Arcadia location showed a serious lack of responsibility and understanding of food allergies. I'm very disappointed in the level of care and service we received. We went to Haidilao at the Arcadia mall last night for a hot pot meal. We started with a spicy chicken appetizer (see photo) that was supposed to be boneless. When we found bones in it, the manager immediately apologized and said that the appetizer was on the house. Now THAT is customer service! We then had beef and chicken for our separate hot pots (see photos), each of which had spicy broths. The meats seemed very fresh and they definitely tasted good cooked in the broths. The meats also came with various vegetables, tofu, and noodles. Haidilao also has a separate self-serve bar with several fresh vegetables and yummy sauces that you can use to dip your cooked meats after removing them from the hot pots. During our meal, we observed a Lucky Noodle Twirling at a table across the restaurant from us. (See photos.) Apparently, this twirling is a custom at Chinese restaurants. I do not know if people are expected to tip the twirler, but he did a good job, similar to a cowboy twirling a lasso. I got the split pot with sukiyaki and jelly golden chicken broth. The sukiyaki was slightly sweet and full of umami flavor. The jelly golden chicken was flavorful and comforting. You can tell they boil down chicken bones from the chicken fat in the soup. They have 3 meats on the prime menu that were wagyu. All 3 were super tender and required little to no chewing. The abalone were massive and firm yet tender. We got the shrimp paste as well which was flavorful and filled with chunks of shrimp. The veggies were fresh and I enjoyed the variety. My favorites were the crown daisy, spinach, enoki mushrooms and Napa. They even have the sweet potato wide rice noodles that are slimy and chewy. Not a lot of AYCE places have it so it's a rare find. The staff here speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English so ordering was not an issue. They have a small lot in the back with about a dozen spots which wasn't an issue on the week day.
