I was in Egypt recently and has been looking for a place to make authentic baba ghanoush, tahini, and hummus the same way I had it in Egypt. I have found it at Haifa. The hummus was just devious, creamy, just melts away after one bite. The baba ghanoush was savory with a hint of lemon, similar to the ones we ate numerous times in Egypt. Also ordered the Israeli salad, it was so simple and healthy, chopped of small pieces cucumbers and tomatoes was perfect. Our server handed a sample taste of the Turkish salad and boy was it good, it also had a flaming taste to it, so beware. The falafel was crunchy on the outside and soft inside, so delightful, it almost transported me back to my time in Egypt. Thank you for making these authentic dishes. Can't wait to share these delightful food with my friends and family the staff was so nice and attentive. After a few hours of volunteering this is exactly the place we needed to be at

Hummus and falafel thanks to checking in here on Yelp!

The hidden gem of all hidden gems!!!! My friend and I just finished a 90 min dance class and we were HANGRY! Thanks to the great reviews on here we decided to give Haifa a try. Boy are we glad we did! This place is small and quaint but has a great menu selection. We were trying not to order the entire menu everything looked so good so we decided on matzo ball soup and then I got the chicken shawarma sandwich. Then I checked in on Yelp and discovered the great reward of a hummus and falafel plate! While we waited they brought us a whole bunch of sides (pictured) which we quickly nibbled on. Everything was great and flavorful. The hummus and falafel plate which was one of the BEST hummus and falafel combos I've ever tasted. Plus the pita was so fluffy and warm. Besides my mom's homemade recipe, their matzo ball soup is now my (second) fav! Carrots, zucchini, potato and onion in there plus the tastiest matzo balls. Omg. Truth be told, once our entrees arrived we were FULL!...but still managed to eat the fries that came with the sandwiches (which was a surprise that they were part of the order) so we boxed up our sandwiches which makes me so excited to eat it tomorrow. Our server was so incredibly attentive and nice. The prices were extremely reasonable plus we get two meals out of it! I will def be going back again...plus ordering delivery...plus dreaming about that hummus and falafel plate! Yummmmmm.....

Popped into my local Israeli restaurant on pico Boulevard near Robertson called Haifa. In the early 80s when I bought my first house in Beverlywood, my family used to hang out with the two brothers who ran this restaurant, Yosi and Benny. I've moved back into the hood, but Benny and Yosi are no longer operating the restaurant. However, the menu has really never changed, and I ordered the combination salad which consists of in my custom order: hummus, Tahina, baba ghanoush, Turkish salad, and the traditional tomato and cucumber salad. I am gluten intolerant, so I cannot have the pita bread and have to get gluten-free pita bread in order to enjoy this wonderful mix. I also on this occasion had the combination salad with falafel. Wasn't sure I was gonna like the falafel but they gave me eight pieces and the falafel was delicious. Throwing all the ingredients into a pita bread pocket creates an explosion of creamy, crunchy flavors blending in harmony. If only the world could get along in the same manner.

This place is open till 9pm... can someone on yelp please explain to me why this wasn't shown when I asked for "falafel near me"!?!? This place clearly sells not only falafel, but other Mediterranean food, a very wide variety, and I highly suggest coming here since everywhere else is closed!!!

They had utensils, napkins, and sauces with containers while you wait. I ordered the falafel bowl and pali salad in case the bowl itself wasn't enough. It did take longer than the other orders but once I got it, we sat outside where they had a few tables and chairs. The bowl looked fresh and vibrant, so many colors and a decent amount of falafel. I tried their white and mazbout sauces on the salad. I'm glad it had spinach as it helped reduce water from seeping out. The falafel was slightly spicy since I am terrible with spic r tolerance but the sauce made it very balanced. I also got to try someone's fries and it was super delicious, the spices they used on the fries were flavorful and the fried were very crispy and smooth inside. Overall, very nice quick lunch, we arrived before they opened right at 12pm and avoided the lunch rush! Very affordable prices as well.

The available slots are narrow and best for motorcycles, not cars and trucks. Sababa is a fast casual concept but hold on there, not so fast, Mate, there is always a line out the door so let's make it a slow casual place. No matter, it's all worth the effort. I finally went in today and sadly, was not only disappointed, my fantasy of Falafel King was destroyed forever. I know Benito used to work for Falafel King, but this place is nothing like it. The service was horrible. The guy behind the little counter was not nice at all. In fact he was rude. And didn't like if you asked him questions. But that aside, sitting in this little tiny restaurant was not a good feeling. We were the only ones there. They have a seating area outside, I'm guessing for overflow - yet, the table and chairs were right there in the middle of the restaurant. Piled up. They didn't even bother to take it outside. Put all that aside - we get to the food. One of the best things Falafel King has were the "chips", which were battered slices of potatoes that were deep fried. These were slices of potato, they were potato chips. Thin. No "meat" on them, if you know what I mean. And sadly, they were fried either early this morning or last night. Terrible, cold, hard, no taste - not even salt. We move on the falafel - which tasted good. The taste of the falafel itself was good, but the oil dripping down my hand an face was not. I blame that on the oil not being hot enough when he put the falafel into the oil. Next, the actual shwarma is not really shwarma (like you all know it). There was no revolving slab of meat where the fat melts into the meat and makes it so so special. No. This was a little baggy of already cooked meat with no spices on it thrown on the plancha and heated up. Hard and tasteless. Very disappointing. I picked it out of my pita and ate the salad with tehina and spicy eggplant (which WAS tasty). The pita is also a thin hard pita - not the nice fluffy type. I didn't finish my food, and my friend didn't finish the food, as you can see in the pictures. Sorry to give it a 1 - but to say you have ANY connection to "Falafel King" is a disgrace. Also a side of the Za'atar/sumac fries. Fries came out first PIPING hot, crispy, seasoned perfectly nom nom. The entrees quickly followed. The lamb was so tender and juicy and bursting with flavor. And the fried chicken was AMAZING. Shwarma that is breaded with an amazing mixture and fried. Genius! The plates also came with hummus topped with whole chickpeas (YUM), dilled rice, a cabbage salad and other greens, grilled pita bread, olives and my personal favorite, pickled radishes. Many reviews describe them as beets (which I also love) but these are radishes and they pair so well with the rich meat. An umami bomb! Portions HUGE (we have a full meal waiting in the fridge) and prices very reasonable. Patio is a very fun hang with pretty lights. My only knock is on the chairs which are not exactly "comfy." Could be because it was Sunday and there was a Farmers Market nearby, but still something to consider. We ordered the Lamb Plate ($26). Portion was solid and the plate is actually pretty interesting -- lots of different sides (flatbread, greens, olives, pickled turnips, etc.), so it doesn't feel boring. That said, the lamb itself was just a few small pieces and it was ground. I would've preferred more actual meat Tried the rosemary lemonade too, but didn't really taste any rosemary. Just a regular lemonade, slightly sweet and sour. Also you pay upfront right after ordering. We sat outside on a small patio facing Glendale Blvd. It's a tight space, and at one point someone from the street was walking around nearby talking to themselves, which made the experience a bit less comfortable. Staff was friendly and service was quick though, no issues there. Also, no public restroom, so keep that in mind. Overall, not bad. Boyfriend loved his salmon plate and insisted we come back :) We also tried the cinnamon halva shakes (not pictured) which were interesting, but not what either of us expected. Very creamy and not too sweet, with the tahini flavor overpowering the cinnamon. The ambiance of this spot is great - love the intimate patio area with string lights. There was a fire going in the stove too which was super cozy. One of my go to classy-casual spots!

Dinner was delicious during my first visit to Mizlala. The Chicken Pargiyot was well seasoned and enough for two portions easily (in case you wanna share.) The rice...meh. Hummus and their fluffy pita...delightful. We also really enjoyed the Sumac fries and garlic sauce. Once you arrive, go inside to order and then back outside to seat yourself in the patio area. It's very cute with a garden'y feel. Wonderful for summer nights, but the flies and random gnats are OVERLY annoying while eating. They do not have inside seating. Service was lovely and they even made wine suggestions with my meal. Parking is potentially an issue, as the restaurant is in the heart of a residential neighborhood. Be aware of street signs.

I finally had the chance to stop in for a solo early dinner, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the Lule Kabob Combo ($22), which included skewers of minced beef and chicken, rice, veggies, pita, hummus, and a side salad. The highlights of the meal were definitely the salad and the grilled tomato; the pomegranate seeds in the rice were also a nice touch. However, the meats weren't to my taste--the chicken had an odd aftertaste, and while the beef was better, neither really worked for me. Adding the provided sumac and lemon helped, but I wouldn't order the kebabs again. Additionally, the hummus lacked creaminess, and the pita tasted like it was mass-produced rather than fresh. On the positive side, the portion sizes are very generous for the price point, and I left feeling full. I also have to mention that the patio is adorable and very "Instagrammable," so it's a great spot if you're looking for a photo-friendly environment. A quick note for future visitors: they are currently having issues with their card reader and are requesting cash or Zelle. It felt a little unusual to be rung up on a register only to pay via Zelle, but it wasn't a major deal. While I appreciated the atmosphere and value, the food itself just wasn't for me, so I likely won't be returning.
