My boyfriend and I went to Haiku for a night outing. While all other places in Westchester had an hour wait on a Saturday night, we only waited 15 min to be seated which was GREAT! The food was good and I have to say the drinks were just amazing. I had the BEST Coconut Mojito EVER. It even came with a special sugar rock candy on top which truly made my night; my boyfriend had a dirty Martini w/ extra olives...cant go wrong with that. Everything was great but throughout dinner I understood why we only had an initial 15 minute wait ..... they turn over tables FAST which really puts a damper on your meal. We had to continuously tell them we were still working on our meals. Apart from trying being rushed, all else was good. We love this place. The sushi is very good and so is the Chinese food. We usually get a noodle dish, general tso chicken, crispy beef, miso soup and various sushi rolls. The manager and hostess were so rude and refused to seat us until the my mom was in the restaurant. I work in a restaurant and I understand not seating incomplete parties but there is no need to be rude about it. My wife and I are very big Sushi fans and very particular in regards to the type of sushi we eat. We live in Philadelphia , yet my mom still lives in Eastchester where I grew up and hence I was visiting. . We have excellent sushi places in Philadelphia. So to find an excellent sushi place where I grew up was something I did not expect and ultimately a pleasant surprise. The sushi options are plentiful at Haiku and they are fresh and very tasty. The service is wonderful and the drinks that we had, particularly the martinis were poured properly and to the rim which is what we expect. The bar is small but considering the population that lives in this town the bar is usually open and available for business for customers like us. Every time I come home and want sushi this is the place that I go to and I would suggest it to anybody else who is looking for this type of food. Of course there is a lot of other things on the menu including basic Chinese food so this restaurant can service a lot of people with a lot of different tastes. The wait is certainly not worth it, nor is it accurate! Was told it would be 20 minutes for a table, and after waiting it out we decided to continue to wait because how much longer could it be? It was another 40 minutes, making it a one hour wait!!! After all that time waiting in the cramped bar area, we were finally seated and told they were only taking kitchen orders, no sushi, the sushi chefs were too backed up. What??? I waited an hour for a table in a sushi restaurant to be denied ordering sushi? No apologies, in fact, rather assertive and rude! They lost a local customer for life. The food was great and the service was fantastic. But what makes it a five star experience, was the extra attention to detail of the staff for our toddler. They brought out a side plate with fork and knife for me to cut up my son's food for him on the side (and keep his little hands away from the knife), they brought plasticware and a little plastic bowl for him to use. One thing to note is that they do not have a children's menu - this was not a problem, for us since our son eats pretty much anything.. but may be an issue for others. Food is always good here. Tasty and arrives in a timely manner. However the service at the bar can be hit on miss. Today is was a huge miss. The bartender was too busy chatting with what seemed family at the end of the bar and she ignored everyone who was sitting at the bar including myself. I'm impressed by the quality of their sushi and items I've had off the regular menu are always tasty. A much better alternative to your average Chinese take out. Their gyoza are delicious as well as their pad thai and sesame chicken. Also like their California rolls. Definitely recommend if you're looking for the perfect Asian cuisine in the area. read more

Admittedly I am SURE that their food has improved because I have been here dozens of times when visiting home months ago, and now that I'm back for good I can say for sure I am blown away by Haiku Scarsdale for the first time. Before the past few months they were only good, but now I will definitely say that they have some of the BEST sushi I have ever had! I have eaten sushi all over the world, at places on the water, places hundreds of miles inland, places where it cost five bucks and places where it cost me half a months rent. Haiku has some SERIOUSLY fresh fish. I come here about once a week with my family, and every time we all sit around gushing about how delicious our fish is. I think they also have some of the best sushi rice ever, which really enhances the food, but I get the sashimi... I know that the fish is top notch. Furthermore the service is SO fast, and SO attentive and always with a smile. You get your soup as quickly as you can say the word "miso". And it's not one of those places where if you can't get your server's attention you're out of luck. Anyone walking around the restaurant, whether it be a different server, a busser, a runner, a manager or chef would be happy to refill your glass of water for you. This is my second time at this restaurant and the food was delish. I had the hand rolled spicy tuna, California roll and hot sake. Great pairing. While eating I noticed that my cell phone got to 1%. I asked my waiter Tony, if he had a charger and he quickly went to his own personal belongings and found me one. TAKE OUT DINNER FROM HAIKU SCARSDALE - - Don't do it. My family has been to Haiku in White Plains, Mamaroneck and Scarsdale for 2 years now, quite regularly. Until recently, it's been pretty high on our list. The last two experiences we had there, however, can not go un-commented upon. A few months ago I ordered Chicken Teryaki to go--they gave me the ingredients in a bag with a little container of brown syrupy Teryaki sauce to dump on my dry chicken strips. it was laughable--and expensive. Last night's dinner, however, compels me to write. The Chinese food was so pedestrian, so gloppy and tasteless I may as well have ordered it from a window. Because my daughter is not an adventurous eater, I ordered chicken and broccoli--it was awful; even the Szechuan dumplings, usually a standout, were off. They were clumped together, and unrecognizable and firm. Our main dish, Vegetarian Pad Thai tasted like noodles--but nothing else. No sweetness, moisture, no flavor--nada! The veggies looked old. I will not be ordering take-out ever again from Haiku, and getting me back in the door to sit for a meal will not be easy. Do not get the seafood delight if you are expecting seafood. It should have been called bean sprout delight. Two pieces of shrimp, two small scallops, one stringy piece of crab meat or lobster , I could not tell. Decent wine selection, but for the amount of fish ( or lack thereof), I should have just gotten a fuller red wine instead of white trying to pair a non fish plate. I would have been fuller at least. My sister says her dish was pretty good. She had sushi, but I didn't try it so I didn't know if it was good as I was really busy trying to pick up my slippery vegetables with my chopsticks. I will definitely get my second lunch right after this meal as it felt more like an appetizer salad. Two stars and be grateful you got those Haiku. Point for one of the the cute Asian waitresses.
