Entire experience was outstanding! Super friendly staff who all understand customer service. We arrived and checked in, waited outside in their relaxing chairs and they brought us glasses of ice water while we waited. Tyler was our server and he was spectacular. We ordered our food and were pleasantly surprised by the "welcome train", which consisted of fried oysters (? Not sure...no one told us what was on the plate at all!), and four soups. All was tasty! As we enjoyed the "welcome train", our dozen oysters came, and we scarred them down! We also asked to split the Honey Chipotle Shrimp Tacos which were brought out on two plates, rice also split amongst the two plates (most places will bring you an extra plate but these guys actually took the extra time to split our meal for us!). It's located in a fun area that I could just wander around all evening (after the hot sun goes down, of course.) Daily specials are written up on the wall and most patrons seemed to flock to that wall to decide what they want to try. Our server pointed out a few items and gave some suggestions. After learning that this was our first time at the restaurant, he brought out a sampler dish of several soups and spicy shrimp. What?! That was cool. I ended up ordering trout-and it was amazing. I went here for the first time a few days ago. It was really just on a whim. We were in Plano and were looking for somewhere to eat, and none of us are super familiar with Plano, so we just kind of picked something, and I'm very glad we picked this place. We started with a half dozen half shell oysters (they had several varieties to choose from) and they were fresh and delicious. Then everybody enjoyed their entrees. I had the seared scallops and applewood bacon shrimp, and it was amazing. After we were all finished, we were very satisfied, but one member of my party decided the oysters were so good that he wanted more and we ordered a dozen more. I thought there was no way we would be able to eat a dozen more oysters, but we did. Every last one. Service was good, although I no longer recall the name of our server, but he was great. The food was most excellent. I'm already planning to go back on my birthday next month, and I think this may become my first choice restaurant for celebrations and special occasions (it's kind of far away from me, or I would probably eat there every week). Came here to use my anniversary certificate for a free app. All other locations allow you to use it on the oyster appetizers. This location; however, does not. I was given a barrage of excuses as to why they did not, which don't add up. For consistency sake, all locations should reflect the same rules. I ordered a mimosa.. it was riddled with pulp. I had never had crab bisque with alcohol before, so I googled it to see it they really use alcohol to make crab bisque. $4.95 for a very small cup. New England clam chowder: not bad 4/5. Still pricey at $4.95/very small cup Blackened Rainbow trout $17. Came with 2 sides. Picked french fries and steamed veggies. Food is always fresh and the dishes are cooked beautifully. Just delicious. However, when it gets very busy on Saturday night and there are lines waiting for a table, just go somewhere else. Their kitchen and wait staff can't handle it. Our appetizer never showed up, our main dishes were cold and had to be sent back. Very well liked restaurant. Very busy on a Friday night. I don't really appreciate when beer prices are unmarked. Any starting business is capable of marking their prices for individual fare. I don't know when an establishment reaches a degree when marking their prices is no longer necessary but that probably marks a degree of establishment that only expects its renown to carry its beer. Best. Experience. My mom and I ate here for lunch today and it by far exceeded our expectations. The food was fantastic but even the food was no comparison to our phenomenal server Jimmy. He was so very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested all of the best oysters and entrees. He even split our meal in half since we mentioned we wanted to share both our entrees. The ModelT and Kamata Bay oysters were sweet and delicious! Way better than any gulf or Galveston oyster. Definitely recommend them! The crab stuffed flounder was perfection with the little bites of capers and toasty cooked bottom. The cod Oscar was even more delicious. I had the Catfish first and last time! Very thin and not a nice flavor. It was prepared very nice just the quality was poor most likely frozen also. My wife and I found this place by accident about a year ago. We have been here several times. The fact they have New England oysters flown in fresh keeps us coming back. Sometimes, the food is a hit and miss because the combination of flavors doesn't really meld well. This being said, this food is really good. Normally, Yelp is pretty accurate but unfortunately, not in this case. My wife and I stopped in at Half Shells while shopping at Legacy. We ordered the calamari appetizer and were very surprised when we got it about 4 mins later. How can they cook it that quickly? Obviously, they pre-cooked it and warmed it up in the microwave or back into the fryer for a couple of mins. The calamari wasn't hot, wasn't freshly cooked and lacked flavor. Fortunately, the sauces were good so we doused the food in there. We ordered the shrimp stuffed Flounder which sounded delicious. The waitress put the food on the table, and then some guy from the kitchen came running over because he forgot to sprinkle some type of garnish on it. I think he added dill weed, or something similar but it was a bit awkward to have him finishing up the plate at our table. The fish didn't have any flavor at all. I'm not a picky eater, but I had trouble eating the food. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were excellent though. If I had to eat here again, I would probably just order mashed potatoes and broccolini because that was the only thing done right. They should change the name to Half Taste Seafood Grill. read more

Crab bisque was inedible, extremely sweet and had a chemical aftertaste. Almost like bisque mixed with Dawn, very odd. Left all of it and didn't take it to go, but we weren't really asked about it or asked how our food was. The fish taco/burritos were fine but cold, and the black beans it came with were unseasoned. The plating was also very messy. My husbands flounder was an oily mess with the flavor of an old deep fryer (his broccoli was also unseasoned.) Had the oysters in half shells (east coast). Delicious, medium sized (aww shucks has the biggest ever), not too salty. Then had the snow crab boil (old bay seasoning). Three crab clusters (huge chunks of gorgeous crab came out of their shells perfectly), fabulous shrimp (perfectly cooked, not rubbery at all), and I hate to say, but the seafood was so good barely paid attention to corn and potato. I was even brought over a sample of all of the soups and the smokin hot shrimp as a first timer and they were all delicious. I personally liked the clam chowder and jalapeño soups the most.
