Big fan of this place. The oysters are amazing! I can never seem to get happy hour down so my fiance and I keep coming back to try to get it right. We've had oysters Rockefeller and raw oysters as well. Both delicious. I think I'd get the raw, though. We tend to go with the Gulf Shore oysters most of the time. We got the crab and shrimp boil once too and it was a ton of food and so good! We must have been in the right place at the right time during one visit because we got to try the oyster nachos and a few soups. The nachos were amaze-balls. It sounds weird, but give them a try. You won't regret it. We had the crab cake appetizer and fish tacos on a recent visit. Again, outstanding. The fish tacos were sooo good! The service is quick and friendly. We really enjoy this place. It's an awesome spot for Oysters. If I had one critique, it'd be to expand the drink menu, but there's one or two choices for everyone as is. read more

THE worst service ever!!! I was looking at my menu and the server literally tap on my menu to rush me to place my order when they had 4 other person at the table. We had to wait over 25 min for our food order. If they don't have enough staff to serve food in a proper timeframe..just a courtesy heads up would be good. Went here on a Saturday night around 6-7 with my boyfriend and his family, it was extremely busy so we had to wait about 30 minutes before getting a table, which is understandable, especially since the restaurant itself is pretty small. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer, it was pretty bland but with the sauces they provided (sweet and sour and tartar) it wasn't bad at all. I ordered the fried catfish with hushpuppies and coleslaw. It took about 30 minutes to get our food, but mine was pretty good. The catfish tasted super fresh and was crisp and delicious. The hushpuppies were awesome and a little sweet! but the coleslaw was a total fail for me. There was so much apple cider vinegar in it i poured a huge amount of it onto my plate and it still was way too much. My boyfriends family seemed to really enjoy what they got and said they'll be back. My only complaint is that we barely saw our waiter the entire time, which I understand when it's busy but we probably only saw him 3-4 times tops and we were there for at least an hour and a half. Love me some Half Shells... Best scenario: *Seat and Eat at the Bar - The whole place is pretty intimate and all the servers are great. I like the action around the bar and almost always end up in a conversation with either a Louisiana native or someone legitimately passionate about Cajun cuisine. *Order from Specials Board - They keep a good rotation of new dishes and old favorites with a twist on the wall. Always good food. The only reason I hesitate going is the parking but once we are there I remember how good the food is. The chipotle shrimp tacos are my favorite. My husband loves the clam chowder. For kids, I like that they can make grilled tilapia, if you ask, instead of fries. read more

The food was pretty good. Loved the crab cake appetizer and enjoyed the Cod special. I just was disappointed with the service. Our server seemed less than happy to be taking care of our table for 2. My mother and I didn't expect fine dining service by any means but we didn't expect to be treated like an inconvenience. Our server was prompt but we had to ask for the specials, ask for an appetizer, and after our entrees ask for a dessert list. Nothing was offered. Talk about amazing service! So me and my fiancé went to have dinner here a couple of weeks ago and the owner came over and personally got us started. He had them bring out a smaller and we got to try everything! We decided on the oyster nachos, they were absolutely to die for! Just stopped in while in Plano for business. So glad I did. The crab bisque was so smooth and delicious, perfect balance of ingredients, with a nice sherry undertone. Coconut Shrimp salad was a special, and it was. Light, refreshing - ginger soy vinaigrette with piping hot delicious coconut shrimp. Best place to go for quality fish for an affordable price! I used to eat here almost every day. Theres always new and delicious specials with their fish and the service is fantastic! Came here yesterday and had a fantastic experience. Anastasia was amazing, friendly and everything you'd want in a waitress. She was attentive and helpful. Since we were first time customers, we got a sample of their fried oyster nachos. My husband hates oysters more than anything in the world, but they were so good he ordered them with his meal!!! They also gave us samples of all their soups which is really outstanding. The crab bisque was to die for. I got salmon, grilled shrimp and the fried oysters. i loved everything i got. I hate all things chipotle and all things tartar sauce. Yet their chipotle tartar sauce is extremely good!!!!!! They must really know what they're doing at this joint ;) My only request would be maybe a little lower prices. But i will be returning because the food is delicious and obviously fresh and expertly prepared. read more

Stopped there for a quick lunch before heading out to Angelika Theater nearby. The ambiance was amazing with bright and lively decor. We chose the high table for two near the bar area to avoid a wait. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who was knowledgeable about the food and the specials, he even offered us with samples of their famous Oyster nachos and an assortment of their soups. Finally we ended up ordering the honey seared shrimp tacos and crab cake sandwich. Both of them tasted awesome with the right amount of sauces to enhance the flavor. This is my favorite restaurant here in the Plano/Frisco area. It's hard to get good fried shrimp in north Texas, but I get it here!

Being a pescatrian, fish tacos are mostly my go to when ordering and the Serafin Fish Tacos are my go to when ordering from here. Not only is the food delicious but I love that the atmosphere is pretty laid back. I have dined here with co-workers on several occasions and no one has ever had complaints about the yumminess of their meal, it's one of our go to places to grab dinner. read more

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant today. I usually go to the fish city location on Dallas Pkwy. My waitress at fish city said half shells was the same as fish city. Boy was she wrong. On my visit the service was terrible and the oyster nachos were not as good as fish city. Needless to say I will never enter this establishment again. Iam sure the waitresses won't mind they seem to have lots of gossip to catch up with. See the thing about having an open area for the waitresses everyone notices what you are or are not doing. I ate at Half Shells for dinner. Getting to the restutant was a bit difficult as the traffic was really really busy on this Saturday night for a St. Patrick's Day concert. We finally got around to valet because there was no open parking anywhere. I ordered the shrimp Poboy with fried and blacken shrimp, no pickles or tomatoes. My plate arrived not even hot with both pickles and tomatoes. The waiter took it back and removed the tomatoes and left the pickles and this time it wasn't warm at all. I also had the gumbo, it was really really good. The venue is a little noisy and very causal. The waiter was really nice and could've been a little more attentive. Dining in The Shops of Legacy always makes me feel trendy and happen in' this experience was no different. The joint was packed to the gills with patrons cradling a variety of spirits. Parading through the tightly packed establishment were trays of the restaurant's namesake, oysters on a half shell. My mom and I specifically ventured out for oysters and were anxious to order a dozen. We were offered two options, gulf or coastal, being the Texans we are we went with what we know. . . Gulf. They were fresh tasting and satisfied our craving. We also ordered the house margarita which my mom described as being good, meaning they weren't stingy on the tequila. And the Bloody Mary. . . Can I just say, every Bloody Mary should come with a shrimp dangling off the side of the glass. The lump crab cake sandwich was slightly more wet than I would've preferred but had great flavor, I paired it with a salad instead of fries. The side salad had candied pecans and goat cheese which elevated this normally uneventful side. The service was average, Dave was busy, but drinks were never empty and food came out accurately and promptly, even if there wasn't a ton of warmth between us. read more
