Ordered two medium pizzas and appetizers for $130 on Doordash, waited 70 minutes, my family was starving. Dasher only showed up with one pizza. I told him there were two on the order, he told me to email Doordash for a refund. Didn't offer to go back to the store to get the missing pizza. No accountability. Called Happy Camper and told them the situation, said there was nothing they could do about it, said there was no way to send us the pizza. No accountability. These intermediary food delivey services/restaurant coordination botch these orders more often than not. You can bet that there is accountability when the delivery driver reports directly to the restaurant manager. What most of these restaurant operators don't realize is their commission on each order is around 30%. So they're overpaying on delivery to destroy their delivery customer base. Servers try to get you to leave before 2 hour limit. Other tables can stay more than 2 hours so I feel like there might just pick and choose who leaves. The tables in front of us stayed longer than 2 hours. The server crumbed up the paper in front of us when we tied to say we have 2 hours. read more

Pizza and DJ playing throwback music was the most perfect combination on a Saturday night. The ambience of this pizza place with their decorative lights and the wall signs set the tone that matched the age group of customers. With the jamming music, my cousins and I were dancing in our seats, waiting for our pizza. Each room in the pizza place is so unique with table benches in one room, twinkling lights in another, and tire swings near the bar! Everyone knows that pizza and beer is a fantastic combination, and this restaurant supplies a long list of unique beers. The waitress was extremely knowledgable about the different kind of beers and recommend their Happy Camper beer. My sister and I decided to order that, and my cousin opted for the Grapefruit beer. They brought out the drinks in cute glasses, and my cousin also got a free koozie to take home! I really enjoyed the beer which was more fruity and thought it complimented the pizza fantastically. My cousin and I shared the Linda which was to die for! At first, I did not think I would eat that much pizza but after one bite I could not stop. The pizza was loaded with vegetables including roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and spinach, and the white crust was delicious. All in all, the restaurant was extremely enjoyable with the bumping music, the fun ambience, and tasty food. A group of friends gathered this weekend after many months of remote socializing due to pandemic. We chose you as our first meal together post pandemic, and we did choose correctly. You have such an interesting menu of pizzas and else. We picked three of your pizzas: Linda, Mike and Dime Piece. The ingredients were fresh, their combination were strategic and the portions were generous. The dough was nicely baked and perfect soft/crunchiness. We were so very happy and our company, our choice of pizzas and we have you to thanks. We all agreed that Dime Piece was extraordinary, Linda was amazing, and Mike was the bomb!! Hands down my favorite restaurant I went to while visiting Chicago. Even though our server was terrible, the food, atmosphere, and drinks were amazing. First of all, tire swings to sit at while you wait for your drink at the bar. Perfect photo opportunity. Places to eat inside and outside. There was even a camper with a disco ball, but that was already taken when we got there. I got a 10 inch Ed, and a fruity pebble ice cream sandwich; I am so upset that we don't have this back in Tennessee. Prices were great! My meal was $25, and I had a pizza, a drink, and a dessert. This is also near a very nice part of town and we were a 7 minute walk from Second City. Make sure you plan to come here anytime you visit Chicago, it is definitely one of their hidden gems. read more

My friends and I had a bad experience today. The girl in a cardigan at the front desk was really short and unfriendly with me for no reason. Seriously, it was 12pm on a Sunday and you are the greeter - at least use your words and drop your frown. The the usher led me to the worst table possible - next to a loud compressor in the back corner with no direct sunlight at all. We had a reservation. There were many tables available. I declined and asked for a different table. He did lead me to a different one. My biggest problem was with our waitress. The waitress for our table was unreasonably pushy. She's a skinny girl with blonde hair in two buns. Her mask was blue with floral pattern on it. We ordered drinks, appetizers and a pizza to start. While we were only half into our appetizer and pizza and maybe 30min into our lunch, she started rushing us. She started to check on us every 5-10 minutes signaling us to leave. We were going to order more drinks but since she was unpleasant, we did not. Food and drinks are decent. Honestly, Old Town has so many options - I'm happy to vote with my dollars and take my business somewhere else from now on. read more

Review is only for the bar environment for the weekend. Great service, the bartenders were very on top of their job and attentive to people coming up even though it was super packed. All we ordered was a couple of beers, but they were cold and not ridiculously priced. There was a solid DJ, that was playing a lot good 90's hip hop. The vibes were cool, mostly college kids that were drunk and dancing but we went there for the entertainment of drunk people, plus I wanted to catch the end of a baseball game on the many TV's they have to choose from. If I'm ever back in Chicago I may come back to try the pizza, seemed to be pretty good. read more

Food: top notch! I love the food here. That's why my household orders it for delivery and take-out. We've loved all of the food from Happy Camper but some of my recent favorites are the Tony and Josh pizzas. We don't care for the drinks (I think that they're overpriced for the amount of ice heaped into the small glasses) and the atmosphere just isn't our scene. It's fun and loud with lots of young adults sitting in booths, high tables and tire swings. Happy Camper has outdoor seating during nice weather and that might be a good option for people who prefer a less cacophonous environment. Service is cheerful and ready which is good considering they are serving a crowd of happy, hungry mouths. There is a guy scanning IDs at the door (no kiddos allowed) and about three people at the host stand. They have a well-oiled system for telling you how long the wait will be and sending a text message when your table is ready. Considering that I live within easy walking distance and I don't like loud, crowded places (unless it's a dance floor) it makes sense for me to enjoy food from Happy Camper at home. read more

I went to Happy Camper with a group of friends the other week on the second day they were open to the public...I believe it was a Tuesday. Our group started out as three people but quickly grew to five people, and they were very accommodating with seating and let us squeeze in extra seats at our table. This place is cuuuuuute. When you walk in, you immediately notice that the host stand is inside half of a camper. There is a huge neon sign of the Great Lakes on the wall, and there are two campers in the back of the venue that are decorated with lights that resemble stars. Just adorable. We were seated in the section closest to the neon Great Lakes sign, and I think I must've taken like 100 photos of it that all looked the same. Anyway...moving on...our server was very attentive throughout the night and gave us really great recommendations for pizza. My favorite was the Marti - sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, feta, garlic, and olive oil. OH MY GOD YUM. We all ordered personal sized pizzas (10") and shared. Shoot...I wish I could remember our server's name, because he was great. He was wearing flannel...although that probably doesn't narrow it down very much. I want to go back ASAP and try the goat stix, mozzarella bread stix, ALL THE STIX THEY HAVE TO OFFER and basically everything else on their menu. SIDENOTE: My friend and I tried to go to Happy Camper last Friday before seeing a show at UP Comedy Club down the street, and when she got there around 6:30pm it was PACKED. Like, she could barely get into the door - that's how many people were there. Non-traditional pizzas with a cool, trendy vibe. Happy Camper, I'm a fan! I'd been to their sister restaurant (Homeslice) and wasn't the world's biggest fan. But the memory had faded, and I decided to give the brand a second chance. The interior reminds me of a college bar on steroids -- cool neon signs adorn the walls and the drink menu is full of cocktails with raunchy names. There's even a DJ! And the food? It's kinda like bar food too, with a heavy emphasis on pizza. The pizza itself isn't anything to write home about. But their menu has more than 30 different pre-made varieties, with the option to also create your own. It's all super greasy and all super fluffy -- even the gluten free crust! But the real star of the show is the appetizers. I swear the gluten free mozzarella cheesy bread has changed my life. SO. GOOD. One bite and I felt like I was back in my pre-celiac days, eating Papa John's cheesy bread -- only these were better! Basically Homeslice's Cool Younger Brother. And I mean that in a good way. The décor was spunky and fun--loved the neon sign "Pizza is My Porn," and also the tire swings around the bar! The menu is almost, if not the exact same as Homeslice, which isn't a bad thing. They have good food! I had the Wells Street salad and the Gaurav pizza, and both were delicious. A friend I was with ordered the Breakfast calzone, and oh my was it a beauty. It was giant, and stuffed to the brim with all things breakfast. Definitely going to be trying that next time.
