This is one of my favorite places to go for dessert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the atmosphere of this place. It's very family oriented and just a great spot to take friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every time I have friends in town or someone who I hang with hasn't been, I bring them to Happy Ice. Lemeir, the owner is wonderful and always greets his patrons. The people who work at Happy Ice are always so kind. I love the pop ups too. Smoothest ice I've had!!! The flavor combos are so good . On my most recent visit I got a small cup of their soft serve and it was good for being plant-based and the portion size was good. This was sooo good!! So glad my brother and I randomly saw them featured in the news and decided to just get up and go support. It was cold out but we were committed to a good and sweet treat. It was absolutely worth the late night drive. It was easy to find street parking nearby but it was at night. The team was very friendly and made great suggestions for us. My girlfriend discovered this on IG and we had to come out there. I made us a day out in LA Monday and made time to go check this spot out. Its deep into the Melrose district and during the day, parking isn't a big deal. We seem to always show up when no one else is there, which we truly love. We both got ice cream and I went with the lemonade and cherry flavors. My girlfriend had a mix with gelato on top, but regretted not getting it on the bottom. After the taste test, it definitely tasted amazing for being vegan friendly. Im truly impressed and hope this isn't the only place they make here in LA. One down in the South Bay would really be a treat to have at least once a weekend. read more

BUSSIN. This ice cream is so good. It's as good as it looks on social media which is RARE but they got it right! I assumed you order either their combo of flavors or just one flavor in different sizes but the way it works is you can choose up to 3 of the flavors on their menu and make your own combination. We visited the Happy Ice truck at Downtown Disney on a particularly hot day. It was a very welcomed treat and went a long way towards cooling things down. It also tasted great. The consistency of the ice was smooth and easy to eat. Kudos go to the staff, who were extremely friendly and the truck has a very cool vibe. First time coming here and it was delicious! I heard about this place because Hart House had a special event with them going on that weekend. Would recommend checking this place out if you're in the area--its vegan too! The store is super cute and vibrantly decorated. The store is on the smaller side but they have a few tables inside and outside. There was a small line when we went but they service was quick so the line moved fast. You can pick from some set combos or choose to build you're own. I decided to create my own with Strawberry Lemon, Mango Tango, and Pineapple Potion. My friend got the All Star Combo. We both got it in the kids size with the oat milk soft top combo! The kid size was honestly pretty big, especially with the soft top--I'd say you could probably split it between two people and it'd be the perfect among. Out of the flavors we got, the Lucky lemon, mango, and strawberry lemon were the best! read more

Delicious shaved-ice style ice cream! It's perfectly soft and flavorful! I've visited the store on Melrose and their catering truck that visits different locations everyday and the quality is the same, though the truck doesn't offer the soft serve topping option. I always get the "Rainbow Rocket" flavor which has all of their flavors mixed and you can taste the individual flavors which is super cool! Went here after quite the disappointing retro experience primarily due to the thought of shaved ice and the relatively cute colors and was surprised to find it's an Italian ice place awhich sounded great. I got a build your own with cherry and pineapple and my girl got one of the predone combos that I forget since it's been over a month since we went but it's great. Everything came out fast and were plentiful on napkins I was surprised to find everything is organic vegan and quite clean compared to other offerings and it tastes delicious. I love how they have a van and cart for parties as well on offer and have a ton of seasonal flavors. Overall a solid place I'd definitely get it if it's still here for my future kids parties just wish they have more locations or ran the van in neighborhoods maybe they do idk but either way I'd come back if I'm in the area! read more

Very good Italian Ice. It's not the traditional Italian Ice that I am used to, this one tastes more like a sorbet, but it is still really good. They have a lot of great flavor options, although my favorite is the cherry. They also have a food truck that is usually at Smorgasbord and other places around LA, although this is their storefront. This time we ordered Cherry Bomb, Rainbow Rocket, and All-Star and all three of them were really refreshing and yummy. It really hits the spot on a warm day, especially, or even in the winter like it was last night when we wanted an after dinner treat. Parking in this part of town isn't that bad, usually there's a space available in the neighborhoods next to Melrose. I will be back in the future. read more

I want to preface this by saying I do not like fruit, ice cream, sorbet, gelato, sherbet, or anything fruity with ice but this place completely changed my outlook and tastebuds! Happy ice is a fully vegan, kosher, black business with delicious shaved ice and soft serve! They have many flavors, including mango, pineapple, watermelon, cherry, blueberry, lemonade, strawberry, lemonade, and sour apple! The decor is so colorful with rainbows clouds and even a mural on the wall outside! Even the tables have these cute little icebreakers, which fueled a fun conversation while we enjoyed our ice! The employees were so nice they gave us a free extra ice while they were closing up. Give this place a try it's definitely worth it! read more

Such a cute place! I love the way it's decorated both inside and out my favorite thing was the watermelon door handle. Ordering was very quick and easy especially with such an enthusiastic employee; she even walked my order over to me and gave me an extra spoon so I could share with my bf. I got the kids size rocket rainbow (all flavors in one) and it was honestly very good it definitely satisfied my craving. Id say it's similar to sherbet although different in texture. The price was not bad at $6 for the kids size with no add ons it was enough to share in my opinion. This makes a perfect treat for the summer time but even in the winter when I tried this it was still a great treat. Parking is very limited on the street so we just drove into the neighborhood and found a spot in front of a house then made a short walk over to the store, no biggie. Awhhhh what a lovely dessert place. I randomly came across this place and I'm really happy I did! For $6/bowl there is a hefty amount of this... sorbet? Soft serve? Shave ice? I'm not even sure what this count as lol. It's almost like a soft but shaved icey kind of popsicle if you could imagine that kind of texture. Happy Ice is amazing! I first tried them at Smorgasburg and loved everything about them from their story to the flavors and to the texture of the treat. It's a shame that it took me over a year to go to their Melrose location. It's such a cute and fun shop that automatically makes you happy when you walk in. Service was fantastic and the person who helped us was patient in explaining the sizing and flavor options. I got a kids size all star flavor combo. You get a generous amount so I think it can be enough to satisfy and adult. The all star kind of reminds me of those popsicles that we would get with our hot lunches in elementary school. The man behind the counter and a few other people, who I couldn't tell were employees or customers, all started shouting at me instead of speaking politely. I've never experienced such rude and disrespectful treatment. A simple, respectful conversation would have been enough. The staff showed no manners or professionalism, and it was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had in Hollywood.

Kobe beef is Wagyu beef from the Tajima strain of Japanese Black cattle, raised in Japan's Hyōgo Prefecture. If this is Kobe, which it isn't, then it's an injustice to the cow to be made as a patty melt; due to its scarcity, there are only 9 restaurants that serve Kobe beef as far as I'm aware of. It could be Wagyu, but it's not of quality like HiHo Cheeseburger, & my patty was overcooked... it might have tasted better at medium or medium-well. This patty melt didn't have any of the qualities of real Kobe beef, nor Wagyu beef, which I have had many times in different variations. The sharp cheddar provided a nice pungent flavor to the sandwich & the brioche toast held up well from start to finish, as it should since the meat was neither tender or juicy. It's a decent patty melt that needs to be renamed/named properly because calling this Kobe is a misnomer due to its scarcity. A touch of caramelized onions would also add some sweetness & texture to contrast the saltiness of the cheese. I felt the sandwich curbed my hunger pangs but didn't satisfy the foodie in me. With remarkably higher prices that most of the regular trucks, I do not find myself tempted to try their menu again. Recommended: Kobe Patty Melt that's not authentic Kobe.

By far the greatest place I've been to in all of California, I recommend this to everyone that plans to visit LA. The service is tremendous and the product was even better, the staff was happy, and even put a smile on my face. Prices aren't bad and easy on the pockets. This is one of my favorite places to go to when im craving something sweet. On top of that, their customer service is AMAZING. Im always greeted with a smile, which shows me that they are hospitality professionals. The fact that this places sells gluten free and dairy free ice makes it even better because I dont have any selections like that near me. I was walking by the happy ice food truck and decided to stop for a free sample. It wasn't even that hot of a day but the ice was an instant refresher. The flavor assortment is solid. Def try the fusion fish. It taste just like Swedish fish! read more

When my partner and I arrived at around 9:45 on a Sunday night, there were two gentlemen working and about eight people in line. While waiting our turn to order, I could already see that it was a fairly slow process due to the amount of work required to make each individual rolled ice cream serving. But, it looked interesting so we chose to wait knowing that it would probably not be very quick (but I would never have guessed that it would take a whole hour). It turned out that in addition to the 8 people in line, the online orders were coming in at the same time. The two workers were not enough to make all of the online orders plus the in person orders. While we sat there waiting for an hour, we watched multiple people walk in to pick up their online orders that were all being made ahead of ours. There was no way to know that there was going to be an hour wait to get two ice cream servings with only eight people ahead of us in line. There should either be some type of warning of the actual wait time or they need to add more workers. The two servers who were there were very nice and were certainly doing their best, but it's just not set up well. I would never have chosen to stay if I had known the actual number of orders that were ahead of us in line (it was a lot more than 8). Maybe that's why there is no warning. But as a result, I would never go back to Holy Roly nor would I recommend anyone else go there (unless they have a lot of time on their hands). I appreciate when businesses care about customer experience. That does not seem to be the case here.

The tiramisu flavor was really good - almost seemed like you were eating actual tiramisu. The pistachio hits well also. Would def recommend!
