I've been here a couple of times, from family dinners to celebrations, and it's always solid! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is a classic, traditional steakhouse.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For apps, we get the Steamed clams or mussels, crab cakes, and a couple of salads. I always order the Harris steak because I love a NY strip. You have a choice of baked or scalloped potato and seasonal veggies (usually snap peas and carrots). My family loves the Prime rib! It's a huge portion, so my grandparents always split the steak! There's a difference between "Split" and "Shared". Split is when you're paying extra $10 for the sides and the kitchen will split the steak for you to share. Shared plates is when you don't get extra sides and the steak will not be split. For dessert, my favorite is the baked Alaska! They have the flavor of the baked Alaska depending on the season! Overall, the food is good, the service is solid, and most of the time I've had a great experience. One of my favorite classic American steak house! Can't go wrong!

Our group of four visited Harris' Restaurant for dinner, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. We had reservations and were seated promptly, which set the tone for the evening. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is consistently top-notch. The dining room features comfortable booths and well-spaced tables, creating a cozy yet private environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was outstanding, as always. Plates were cleared quickly between courses, water glasses were continually refilled, and the servers were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My husband and I shared the roasted peaches and goat cheese on endive lettuce leaves to start. It was amazing--sweet, juicy peaches paired perfectly with creamy goat cheese and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. For my main course, I ordered Steak Diane, which was prepared perfectly. The sauce was rich and flavorful. One of the highlights is that their dinners are not à la carte; my steak included a choice of potatoes, and my loaded baked potato was spot-on. The sautéed zucchini and carrots were cooked to perfection. Between the superb service, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere, Harris Steakhouse remains a favorite. We will definitely be returning.

Skipped appetizers and salad and went straight for the petite filet cooked medium rare with a baked potato and seasonal vegetables. The steak was cooked perfectly. They served the steak with garlic butter. The steak had a slight char on it and I wish there was more. The potato and seasonal vegetables were great complement to the steak. Kevin did an excellent job as our server. I got the crème brûlée for dessert and it was tasty. It would have been outstanding if the glaze on top would have been a little thicker. Vibe is upscale.

It's a Wednesday night and we had no reservation, we were greeted with a warm welcome, quickly seated and had a wonderful server. We had the prime rib, it was absolutely delicious. Every element on the plate was perfection, there is not one single thing I would change. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live music as a dinner accompaniment in a thoughtfully decorated cozy and not too loud atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Absolutely will be back next time I'm in town.

Was able to get a late Sunday evening dinner with my kids for a Mother's Day mini celebration. We showed up on time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The steak displace on the window was pretty fabulous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is an old school American restaurant feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got seated pretty quickly and the seats were very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bread here was pretty solid. Good crust on the outside and a big softness inside. My younger one loved it. Ordered a shrimp cocktail to start, prime rib for me, Harris cut steak for kiddos, got fries for kids and ordered extra mushroom. Shrimp cocktail was wonderful. Fresh, jumbo sized with some salad to go with. Ordered a glass of red. It was alright. My prime rib was wonderful. Temp was just right, good amount of salt, nice amount of options for my baked potatoes. I am not a huge fancy of creamed spinach. But it tastes alright. Liked my mushroom side but it was slightly greasy. Kids liked the steak. They precut the steak for little ones. Fries were okay. We couldn't finish the main meals and had a good amount to go. I ordered a baked Alaska and my older one got a strawberry shortcake. We both loved our desert. Service was great. Attentive and efficient. Overall, we all had a wonderful time! Would be back.

Had to do some research on a good steak house in sf to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and Harris' certainly met my expectations based on the reviews I read. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wanted a nice old school steak house where people put effort in their clothes (not just a t shirt and jeans) and I'd say this is definitely the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Compared to House of Prime Rib next door, I'd argue that I had a better experience with reservations, drinks, and our food here...!!! Arrived a bit early but luckily our table was ready which was great! I couldn't be any more satisfied with my filet mignon, side of potato and green beans, and two glasses of wine. For the dessert menu they have a variety of drinks and food. Because I was already so full I decided to go with the wine which was definitely a dessert itself from how sweet it was. If you're looking for a good steak house this is it! Pricey of course but worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]](They also had live music towards the back)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Opened in 1984, Harris' Restaurant is one of those San Francisco classic steakhouses. I came here with my friend after seeing a video on eating at the bar, but we opted for the dining room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant leans into old-school elegance, with plush booths, soaring ceilings, brass chandeliers, and live music adds to the timeless atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was excellent! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar has a darker, almost library-like vibe, while the dining room feels brighter, like a conservatory.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's giving 1950s charm--but with a twist, since the restaurant is only dating back to the '80s.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And it even has a legacy restaurant seal on the front of their building.

Enjoyed a nice evening here last night for my husband's birthday and we really enjoyed it. We started off with oysters, the fried onion rings and mushroom combination and caesar salad. I don't eat oysters, but my husband said they were good. The fried onion rings and mushrooms were good. They weren't greasy at all and the sauce it came with (some sesame soy ginger sauce) complimented them really well. The caesar salad was delicious and they did not skimp on dressing it well (I hate when salads lack enough dressing!). My husband ordered the bone-in ribeye with a baked potato. We go to steakhouses a lot and I've never seen a steak so big. He was pretty excited to have a good amount leftover to take home and enjoy again the next day. There's some sort of table side service when you order a baked potato. A gentleman arrived and offered him butter, sour cream and chives. This was pretty neat. My husband said his dinner was delicious. I ordered the chicken with sherry sauce and scalloped potatoes. The chicken was moist and the sherry sauce was delicious! I wish I had a big gulp cup of it to drink (just kidding). The scalloped potatoes were also so good. Soft and buttery. Both our dinners came with snap peas which tasted fresh. I had ordered some spritz that had orange blossom in it and I must have told my husband like a million times how much I liked it. I really liked the flavors in it. I was also surprised to find a dessert cocktail on the menu that didn't have coffee in it (I dont like coffee). It was the Elysium I believe and it comes with Amaro liqueur, Kailua and Mexican chocolate bitters. It was very tasty and unlike anything I've ever tried. For dessert, we got the carrot cake. Not something you see often. It came with a scoop of ice cream and some sort of crunchy caramel topping. I don't usually like carrot cake, but the birthday boy picked it and I was pleasantly surprised. It was moist and I liked the gingeryness to it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didnt realize the music I heard was live music. It would've been cool to be seated with a view of them, but it was nice music playing in the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really enjoyed the natural light coming into the big dining area. Nice restaurants always seem to be dark inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The place also offers valet ($19) which we happily took up. Lovely steakhouse and I plan to come back to try the baked Alaska.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A classic steakhouse! Less crowded than house of prime rib nary a block away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service and ambiance feels like a time capsule, what I imagine the Ritz Carlton from the early 2000s nailed in having ceremonious hospitality feel normal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is not a flashy restaurant vying to capture the instagram crowd. This is an establishment weathering decades, though I will say Harris' carries the faint sterility and stiffness of a hotel lobby.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would probably choose a different cut from the porterhouse next time. This is a splurge meal for an occasion if you are looking to cosplay what millenials romanticize as old money.

I've been coming to Harris' for years now and have nothing but fantastic things to say about this restaurant. I hosted my birthday dinner here, date nights, dinner with friends and colleagues, etc. and the service has always been impeccable. The wait staff is incredibly kind and willing to accommodate any changes or requests. They are also more than happy to recommend some of their faves on the menu. My favorite dish to get is the New York steak (medium rare) with creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes. The steaks are always amazing and I stand by this being my favorite steak in the city! I highly recommend visiting Harris' for the best steak in the city. Reservations fill up fast but I typically haven't had issues getting a table within a week's notice. If you are willing to have a later dinner (after 8:30pm), you can probably get a same day table!

I don't know if they just messed up my meal but my steak was charred and dry despite being rare on the inside. Just an average experience for me. Valet was nice, 19$ flat rate. If you don't have cash you pay at the bar and leave a tip on the receipt. I was just disappointed with my steak. I ended up cutting off the burnt edges. Pricey place.

I want to give this place 100/10 for service!!! I want to start with they did a coat check, and unfortunately my coat got some sticky stuff stuck to my coat. Their restaurant manager immediately apologized and tried to use gin to wipe the glue off for me, and then he gave me his card and asked me to email him for compensation after I got my coat dry clean. Oh also before we left, he immediately recognized us and went to get our coat. He's seriously the most professional and sweetest person (and really good memories) I have ever met in a restaurant! Shout out to him! Agh I wish I remember his name!! But we went there on Dec 14,2025 around 7pm (I think)! I'm thankful for his amazing help! Now for the food, I'm loving every bit of it! I got a ribeye and my husband got a NY steak. They both cooked perfectly and seasoned so well! The scallops potatoes were so creamy and the sauce was soaked into the potatoes. The drinks were kinda strong and yummy! Didn't taste much of alcohol! I felt a little bit of buzzed but maybe I drank it so fast before the food came! Hehe! I love that they have live music there and the whole place decorated so Christmas vibe!!

    Crab cakes. $31. Very crabby.

Ask the Community - Harris' Restaurant

Is there a cake slicing fee if we bring in our own cake?

    Yes

Is there bar seating and can a seat be reserved for one?

Yes there is a bar and lounge area. Reservation for one may not be required, but they will certainly take it.

    What is acceptable dining attire?

Attire is nice or business casual. Nice jeans or khaki's dressed up on top are fine. Shorts, hats, flip-flops, and overly athletic wear are not permitted in the Main Dining Room. Our Piano Lounge walk-in tables are more casual.

If you show up at opening will they take walk ins? If so how long will you wait?

There are tables for dinner saved for walk-ins... No wait as long as a table is available.

Should I make a reservation if I plan to go on Fridays between 5pm-7pm?

    Yes.

Is proof of vaccination still required? 7/22

It was not required last time we were there.

Do you offer outdoor dining for non vaccinated people?

No, they don't have outdoor dining. All of San Francisco requires vaccination card (some need booster as well) for indoor dining. Not all have outdoor dining. Best to be vaccinated if you visit San Francisco!

Do they offer dine in as of Aug 2021?

Yes, they do. You must provide proof of vaccination to dine. We just had a fabulous dinner there last night, highly recommended.

    What is the corkage fee?

40$ for up to 2 bottles.

    Are they offering dine in?

No. They were open for awhile but then San Francisco shut down again. I got the opportunity to eat there on my Birthday in October. Great as always and they hadn't raised their prices

What do the take out Menu look like?

The whole menu is available for takeout. It can be found at Harrisrestaurant.com. Let me know if you have any questions about the menu.

The quality is always on point (you get what you pay for) and the process is easy to preorder. The main thing to plan for is the long wait in line to pick up your preorder. In prior years, I've usually picked up on Christmas Eve and the wait can exceed 90 mins to 2 hours depending on when you arrive - this is the case even when you doorbust at opening time. This year, we picked up on the 23rd and arrived around opening time, and it only took 30 minutes. It was uncomfortably warm in that area, and we were served lukewarm water, which made for a disappointing first impression. After being seated, it took about 15-20 minutes before our order was taken so it felt like we were maybe forgotten. Since there were seven of us, we decided to order family-style. We ordered the Butcher Board, braised short ribs, Brussels sprouts, truffle Mac and cheese, and the Salmon Provençal after learning they were already out of the branzino. Considering the restaurant had just opened for service, it was surprising that this menu item was unavailable. The food arrived much faster than expected, which initially seemed like a positive. However, after tasting everything, I questioned whether some items had been freshly prepared. The fried calamari on the Butcher Board was cold, and several cuts of meat were cooked closer to rare than the requested medium-rare. The other items were ok and didn't really impress the table. The Salmon Provençal was unfortunately overcooked, leaving the fish dry and dense. It ended up being the least enjoyed dish at the table and was barely touched until the end of the meal. The highlights of the evening were the truffle lobster mac and cheese and the braised short ribs both were well-seasoned, served piping hot, and easily the best dishes we ordered. The service was another disappointment. It was difficult to get a server's attention for water refills, additional orders, or even to request the check. While I appreciated that our waitress comped the birthday dessert, the overall level of attentiveness fell short, especially considering the restaurant appeared to be adequately staffed. Overall, both the food and service left my boyfriend and me disappointed. Aside from a couple of standout dishes, the experience did not meet our expectations, and unfortunately, it's not a restaurant we would return to.

I do think it would be feasible to show up with a small party (1 or 2) and attempt to be seated at the bar during off hours (if you're willing to risk it). I know some may say this place is overrated, but I've been twice and really enjoyed my meal both times. My order is the King Henry VIII cut (rare) with a sear, mash potatoes with the loaded toppings, and creamed spinach. When you order at HOPR, your options are pretty simple. 1. Which cut do you want? 2. Which 2 of the 3 sides would you like? 3. What do you want to drink? The meat here is excellent quality with great flavor. The jus they give you to accompany your order is a nice touch as well! My favorite side here is the creamed spinach which has a great flavor and consistency. I do have to say that the service quality can be mixed here. During my first trip we were paired with "JB" who pulled out all the stops to make sure we had a top tier experience. It truly felt like I was dining in a 50s/60s era steakhouse. In contrast, I was paired with a different waiter during my most recent visit who largely seemed to be going through the motions. She didn't really talk about the courses or offer any advice to my friends who were all first timers. Request JB if you can! All said, House of Prime Rib is an excellent experience for what it is. A tasty, indulgent meal that harkons back to an older era. If you are looking for a nice Prime rib joint to go to for a bday or anniversary dinner, then look no farther!

We did a walk-in and were lucky to get seats at the bar since it was just the two of us. I ordered both the English Cut and the House of Prime Rib Cut, and both were incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The signature au jus and creamy horseradish sauce made every bite even better. The portions were huge, filling, and definitely worth the price. A perfect birthday dinner and an experience I'll always remember. I'll definitely be back again next year!

Love this spot! A…read morefriend introduced me to this amazing distillery and restaurant. I had a flight of their amaros and loved them all, followed by some excellent cocktails that highlighted their products. Dinner menu is designed for sharing/family style. Everything was delicious and creative. We started with their crispy chicken skins, a bitter lettuce ceasar, octopus salad, and their duck confit with a surprising corn couscous. Our server was excellent, with full knowledge of their spirits and lots of guidance for tasting. Loved the bright comfortable dining room, with a bit of vintage flair.

Very much appreciated that accommodation. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and tasted even better. There was a special with homemade focaccia, ricotta, pesto, and eggplant + tomato tapenade. I could have eaten a bowl of every ingredient individually, and together they were even better than the sum of the parts. We also had the curry chicken croquettes, citrus caesar, confit octopus, and gnocchi - all fantastic. And the drinks - next level. I had the Sam Fernando and it was dangerously drinkable, I had to order a second. My partner's Bird of Paradise bamboozled us with its clarified coconut milk - so wild to drink something CLEAR that tasted so much like a piña colada! Our other two party members had NA drinks that were also nuanced and delicious. I will very eagerly come back whenever I have the opportunity!

I brought my mom on a day trip up to SF to watch The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX at the Metreon. We had…read morealready ate a nice brunch at Kantine before the show. I wanted to take her to one more nice place before heading back home. Chef Tyler Florence's Miller & Lux next to the Chase Center in Mission Bay seemed like the best option. Parking was a bit challenging, as the spots across the street from Miller & Lux were five minute passenger loading only after 6pm. So I had to park in the stadium garage, which took about 10 minutes to find a spot and walk all the way back to the restaurant. From the moment we were escorted upstairs from the bar area, the service was top notch. Very congenial and accommodating. More importantly, my mom felt well-taken care of by the staff. They gave us our choice of a central booth or smaller table next to the expansive window overlooking Mission Bay. As we are both light eaters, we decided to share an order of the Filet Mignon and Tableside Caesar. After the soufflé-like bread puff and butter appetizer, the salad specialist rolled up his cart next to our table. He got busy mixing together mustard, Worcestershire sauce, shaved Parmesan, and several other ingredients then tossed it with neatly trimmed lettuce. Finally, he topped each salad with candied Meyer lemon, more shaved Parmesan, thin croutons and plump anchovies. There was also lemon zest dashed around the rim of the plate. I ate each leaf while instead of cutting it. Seemed easier that way. It had a nice balanced taste and was one of the better Caesar salads that I've had. The Filet Mignon was a bit rarer than the medium rare we requested. It had almost an Akami tuna like texture inside, which is not what you'd expect from beef. Possibly some aging broke it down to make it that smooth. They were very accommodating to take it back and fire it on the grill a little longer. It came back with the perfect amount of doneness. The horseradish sauce we added gave each bite a nice cream and spicy kick. We had an ode to the now extinct Orange Julius' signature flavor, orange and cream in the form of a soft serve sundae topped with a sugary macaroon and tart tangerines. It definitely brought back some memories. Thanks to the staff for making dinner for me and my mom a pleasant and enjoyable experience with their hospitality. For an upscale steakhouse and seafood establishment with exceptional service, Miller & Lux is a great option in the City.

We were greeted by the sommelier who opened up the wine bottle we brought and also made some recommendations. She also brought over the champagne cart and I started the evening with a glass of the Collet Brut which was crisp and refreshing. A perfect palate cleanser to start off with the appetizers. The complimentary pop over is still one of the most delicious treats ever! It was brought over with a classic butter and a flavored butter that were just to die for. Now of course, the caesar salad is still a must here!! Prepared tableside this is part show, part experience, and full flavor bomb. I love watching the dressing come together and the freshness of every ingredient being used. Just the aroma of the olive oil and parmesan cheese is amazing. The Caesar salad was dressed to perfection and perfectly crisp! Also got the oysters, because they were an absolute knock out the last time we were here. And still one of the best! It is quite literally the cleanest and freshest oyster I've ever had. Our waitress did an amazing job of explaining the whole menu in great detail. For dinner entree, we went with the ribeye, served with bone marrow to split between 2 with a side of the mac & cheese and accompanied with creamed horseradish to give the steak an extra kick. To be honest, that steak needs nothing extra. It is "melt in your mouth" tender and extremely flavor. I love the addition of the bone marrow because it enhances the richness of the steak. The mac & cheese is also very indulgent and rich. We were way too full for dessert so we went with a ball of the espresso gelato and were given complimentary carrot cake bites which were soooo gooodddd. I wish I wasn't full because they're pastry chef is the best! Hands down the place for a 5-star lux dining experience!
