There were multiple tables of 4 open, both indoor and outdoor but he said that it was "important real estate" at busy times and they reserved those tables for groups of 4. Came here today with a group of three to celebrate my friend's birthday. Since I didn't want to worry about a long wait at brunch, I called a few days in advance to make a reservation and they were able to accommodate it without issue. Although the website says to use Resy to make a reservation, I didn't have any luck with that so was super happy calling worked just as well! When I arrived, the others were not yet there so I had to wait for the entire party to arrive to be seated, which I didn't mind. Although it was rainy out, the restaurant was busy. They seemed able to accommodate walk ins pretty well, but there was also some groups seated outside and it was a tad cold so I am glad we had the reservation and were able to be seated inside! The host was super friendly and warm. Our waiter took our orders promptly and remembered everything without writing anything down. We ordered a rice bowl with salmon, bacon benedict with salad, and farm eggs with turkey along with coffee. The food came quickly and portions were perfect, not obnoxiously big. We all enjoyed our food and were overall satisfied with the meal and service. We ended up chatting and catching up for another hour or so after finishing eating and there was no rush to get us out the door, which I really appreciated. Good service and vibes here! read more

Visited many times and always on point with the food. Great neighborhood joint but not worth visiting if you live elsewhere. Service and cocktails have always been solid except for tonight which prompted me to finally write a review. "What can I get you?" No hi, hello, how are you, but straight up, what can I get you!? Better service with, welcome to McDonald's, what can I get you?. Anyways, the martini was fine and the fish tacos okay but this waiter, spencer, or that's what the receipt said, needs a 101 on hospitality. I wanted to love this place, the menu is fantastic. The food was fine, not outstanding. We started with focaccia and the ricotta spread. 5 small squares of bread for two people...awkward! Why not an even number? Tasty, but unremarkable. I had the soba noodle salad and my friend had the roasted cauliflower and lettuce wraps. The noodle salad was good, but way over dressed. I adore all noodles, but could not get through more than half of this, just too salty and wet. The lettuce wraps were very good. The cauliflower was tasty, but a bit soft/mushy. That's what happens when roasted veggies sit around covered for too long. We had the crem brûlée for dessert. The lavender flavor was a bit soapy tasting. The coffee was good and they warmed the milk that accompanied it which is a very nice touch. As is typical in nyc, there was always a wait for the restroom, oh well. Prices were high for what you get. With so many other places, I would not rush back. read more

I am here on a Sunday brunch writing this review. I am here as a solo eater and not wowed. I ordered a black bean avocado burger with fries and a summer mimosa both mediocre. The service OK. I waited about 10 minutes before someone poured me water. I understand brunch is busy. But that's unacceptable. I also sat another several minutes after my food arrived for someone to come in close enough proximity for me to tell them I need hot sauce. That didn't happen. Rude and not baby friendly. My wife walked in asked for a table for 3. They said under 10 minutes. I came in shortly after and when they realized I had a stroller and my 19 month year old they changed it to a 40 minute wait... so 10 minutes became 40 minutes once they saw I came in with a toddler. Truth be told they said 40 mins because they wanted us to leave and no way in hell we planned to wait that long. When I asked them how does 10 min become 40 the manager was mumbling and making excuses. I live in the area and will boycott this place and NEVER recommend it to anyone. Strange that this attractive restaurant has changed menus and and names under the same owners twice in the last year. We actually liked the Flying Fisherman a lot. This menu is not so interesting, but the four of us had a good meal there today (Fish tacos kind of plain). This is a beautiful spot for brunch on the upper west side, a short walk from central park. We were a pretty large group, and arrived right when they opened. My daughter reminded me that this used to be the location of City Grille, a place we frequented ten years ago. The review covers brunch on a weekend. We booked a reservation for four on Open Table. For the weekends after the morning opening the restaurant fills within an hour. The menu is interesting with many variations on breakfast and brunch favorites. We choose the Country Breakfast with triple cured bacon on the side. Two pieces were deep with baconny goodness. The Breakfast Sandwich was generously proportioned and could easily have been shared. The remaining choices were variations on eggs Benedict and poached eggs. The service was quick and attentive. By 1130 the restaurant begins to shift to neighborhood families. It definitely is a favorite with the UWS. Not as precious as some others in the neighborhood. read more

Harvest Kitchen is a fitting name for a restaurant who's food is as pure and succulent as a fresh grown Midwest crop and it's atmosphere as cozy and cheerful as your mother's kitchen on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and had the perfect level of brightness on its lights. The predinner drinks at the bar were made with care and you could tell that there were some colorful interactions taking place between the bartenders and the local gathering the restaurant has won over since it's opening a few months ago. No, Yelp viewers, I haven't even gotten to the actual food yet. We ordered the kale potstickers and the brussel sprouts to start. Both were fantastic, especially the potstickers in which it's rich and salty base went perfectly with its tangy and sweet dipping sauce counterpart. For entrees we got the red snapper tacos and the kimchi fried rice. The tortillas on the tacos had that tortilla texture that only authentic taco joints know how to create. The fish tasted like I jumped off a boat in Mykonos and found dinner myself. Last, the rice had a nice soy base to it and the chicken and kimchi were like delicious cherrys on top. Would certainly go back to Harvest Kitchen on my next date night. My only hesitancy would be me looking too good too early and raising expectations for our future dates indefinitely. read more

Had dinner here yesterday with two others. Really was drawn in by the menu and the interior design and both did not fail to impress. The only thing I didn't love what that my steak was a little fatty but it was delicious and a pretty huge piece so even with the fatty parts, there was more than enough to fill me up. The other people dining with me enjoyed their meals as well (kimchi friend rice w/ steak and bacon cheeseburger). We also were admiring many of the amazing looking meals passing by our table. My partner and I decided to throw a Valentine's Day celebration for family and friends. And since I had just recently enjoyed a great meal at Harvest Kitchen and noticed they had a private room, we decided to have it there. We had had a similar celebration at another restaurant a few years back and although it was successful I prepared myself for the inevitable issues and glitches we had experienced. I'm writing this review because our experience with Harvest Kitchen was an absolute dream from start to finish. They were so responsive and helpful and accommodated our every request. And on the night, the room looked gorgeous, the food was delicious and best of all kept coming with perfect timing. Food just ok. Loud 80s rock music ruined the meal.. Guacamole was uneventful (the guy on the street who wrangled us in said their guac was voted "4th best in the city." Really?? Chips a bit stale, Greek salad was wilted and soggy and shrimp was a bit undercooked (but they were accommodating and seared it a bit more for me). When left 90% of it uneaten at the end of the meal and told the waitress I didn't like it, nothing was offered but a weak apology. Korean rice dish was very good... but a bit oversauced. Drinks were good. Honestly, my biggest complaint in this pretty restaurant was the MUSIC! (Motley Crue and Guns & Roses! Seriously?). I always want to like this place but I always leave feeling slightly disappointed. We were seated and brought water, and there was lipstick already on the cup. We ordered food and coffee, and the coffee didn't come out until after our food, and only after asking again. Also, one of the coffee orders was wrong, and both tasted literally like water. My mother and I tried this on a whim, and we were so glad we did! We were there for lunch (definitely want to return for dinner), and had the burger and the avocado toast. Both were delicious and the side salad was fresh and lightly tossed in vinaigrette. We ordered two of the zero-proof drinks, which were great. The service was fantastic and we noticed that all the other tables seemed happy and satisfied. We spoke with one of the owners and learned the restaurant has been open fourteen weeks, we hope it stays that way!
