The service. As in other reviews, the service here is really inexcusable for it being a table-service restaurant/bar in the Grand Californian. You will wait an unfathomable time for anything - drinks, food, I mean 30+ minutes before your first drink comes out, and 1+ hours AFTER ordering, your food will come. The drinks are great, the food is good, the ambiance is lovely. The service is unbelievably bad. They have got to increase their staffing, or fix whatever else the problem could be. Hidden gem in the Grand Californian hotel at Disney! Everywhere we tried to go in downtown Disney closed when the park closed, but we at least got to sit and hang out for a little bit more at this lounge to rest our feet before going back to hotel. Nanette was our server and she was our server the last time too! What are the chances? She's super helpful and friendly. Can't wait to keep seeing her when we come back again. The cute hostess made my husband and I two decorated Disney pins for our anniversary. We were celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary and she made our last night special by doing that. So sweet! We ate here in 2023 and it was great. Went on Saturday night and it was so very mediocre. I had the burger and it was cold. They bring the food in on carts as it's made elsewhere in the hotel and I think mine must have been made a few minutes ahead of my wife's and so it was allowed to get cold. Also - a small cup of coffee is $6 and when they ask if you'd like another - know they are going to hit you for another $6. I spent $12 on coffee!!! read more

We had dinner here after a day in the park. Our experience was similar to what others say in their reviews- took a while after our reservation time to get seated, slow service. We were seated at a corner table near a fixed closed window, which somehow had a very large draft coming through it and it was like an air conditioner was blowing on us when it was in the 50s outside. Love this gem of a place to relax within the Disney properties. It's a beautiful warmly decorated lounge inside the Disney Grand Californian. My husband and I come regularly (about every week or two) to visit Eleana and indulge in the rich flavorful menu. Ever since they added this place to Disney Dining reservations, wait times can be quite long. STAFF: Eleana was the first person we sat with here and we look for her every time. She's a sweetheart and will make sure you have a great experience. All the staff has been super friendly. We love the hostesses Aixa, Rachel, and Angela. Justin and Gus have been such helpful friendly runners(?) that we see regularly. FOOD: The menu has changed since we first started coming. The iconic garlic knots are sadly gone but the new menu is really good: French Onion Soup - Very salty but very good. Lots of melted cheese and I love it when the croutons are extra crisp inside so they retain some texture even when soaked Grilled cheese - This I my replacement for the Cafe Orleans Montecristo which has gone downhill. Visited this lounge located in the Disney Grand Californian Hotel and spa on a weekend evening for drinks and appetizers. Service was impeccable and our Server Jacob made many great recommendations. We enjoyed the classic margarita, cozy cabin, wide whiskey selection, truffle Mac n cheese and charcuterie board. Easily shareable portions and they were kind enough to bring us extra bread too! This place is open late and has a full menu. There is a bar area and plenty of seating. We easily were able to join the walk up list and get a last minute reservation. Varied seating options too. Decor/ambiance matched the craftsman/rustic style of the hotel. Quiet enough to carry on a conversation and relax after a day in the parks. Ok. This has been my favorite stop when visiting Disneyland for about 25 years. Never have I had such a horrible experience. What happened to the service here?! Service at the bar was absolutely dreadful! Came in for a cocktail, and sat at the bar. After being blatantly ignored by the 4 employees behind the bar (while they are complaining how slow it is) you can't help but feel a little rejected. But after the first drink I was hoping for a second. Sat there with my glass empty for 10 mins. Kept trying to get someone's attention but they literally kept ignoring me. Finally had to verbally call out to get someone's attention. Not to mention the water I had asked for 10 minutes before and never received. Ok. It happens. After I finally received my second drink I put my card down to pay. Seems as though a new shift started and had a new set of bsrtenders. And again everyone just walking by. Asking everyone around me if they need anything and ignoring me and the fact that I would like to pay. 10 minutes rolls by, and again..I have to verbally call out to someone to ask them to please close me out. A more grown up restaurant in Disney's Grand California Hotel. Came here while staying at the hotel, with reservations being the least competitive of the hotel options. Solid steakhouse menu. Old school adult vibes with a nice bar area. Definitely not meant for kids, without even a kids menu, but being Disney, they make it work. We were able to get a side fries for my kid and she loved them (probably since they were the thin steak frites- perfect for small hands) Their Cobb salad (with steak addition) was great. Came to have a late night birthday meal for my son after being in the park all day. The food is always amazing, however I noticed the prices have gotten sooooo much more expensive over the last few months for the same amount of food and food items. First to everyone else that has been here before they removed the garlic knots and raised the price of the steak from $42 to $77 my numbers might be off by a few. Two black eyes when I just a started ordering the steak over and over. They also turned this "lounge" into you need a reservation which has already resulted in me going to another place to eat. "Céntrico" read my review on that, amazing alternative. Now the good! Pasta with ribs has so much rib it's totally comfort/super value dish. Love it all around tasty and not dry each bite melting in your mouth. They also have a sea bass over Vegas that's so well made (ask for truffle sauce on the side) is flaky juicy and full of flavor. The charcuterie pizza is one of my all time favorites, the tomato sauce here is so good along with the fresh toppings. Chorizo and fries are good but warning it's huge you will want to share this lol. The ambiance of this location is like a old library with classy decor a corner extension of the magnificent but a bit overpriced Grand California Hotel. It's very resort feeling and very nice. If you are cold ask for blankets!! The hostess(s) and service is so amazing friendly here. My wife and I are officially regulars with Eleana which is so sweet and fun to chat with we absolutely love her! Axia and Ariel are beyond great and love that they already remember us and make us feel at home. Service matters a lot to me and this location has won my loyalty. I hate the reservation system ruined my ability to just find a table whenever I need a nice dinner and a break to another location I have to worry about reservations that I can't make from my phone and have to find a pc because the site never loads for my older phone. The Grand Californian has some of the best food locations on property. While GCH Craftsman Bar is great on a warm day, Hearthstone Lounge is the spot when the weather is less than desirable. It's cozy and relaxing inside. Getting a table for a weeknight dinner never seems to be an issue. Service here on multiple trips has always been great - waiters are friendly and personable, and have made multiple recommendations we've enjoyed. My wife and I are finishing a three day weekend at the Grand Californian. We visit at least once a year, sometimes more, and for many years Hearthstone Lounge has been one of our favorite spots. I am writing now because the service and food quality have noticeably declined. We first saw signs of this about a year ago and hoped it was a one time issue. After dining there twice on this trip, it feels like a trend. Night one: When we arrived a little early for our 8:00 pm reservation, the host told us it was unlikely we would be seated early and that we might not even be seated on time because they were very busy. I understand restaurants get busy, but the delivery came across as rude and condescending. We were eventually seated at 8:35. Our server was pleasant but inattentive. We waited quite a while before he came to the table, and both drinks and food took a long time to arrive. My wife's salad was fine, but my burger was barely warm and overloaded with condiments, making it a sloppy mess. We tried repeatedly to get someone's attention and were ignored by multiple staff members. When the server finally returned, he joked that the kitchen really loads up the burgers and did not acknowledge that it was cold. A manager did remove it from the bill after I asked. Night two: We kept our second reservation because it was already inside the cancellation window. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The same host checked us in. She was more pleasant this time, but we were placed in a corner that was noticeably colder than the rest of the restaurant and had a very bright spotlight overhead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our server said that area is known for being cold and offered blankets. We had a great time relaxing at Hearthstone, our server David was amazing! He was on top of everything and very knowledgeable regarding cocktails, even if they weren't on the menu. We sat in the little fireplace room with comfy couches, it felt very luxurious. We had a couple of brambles because they were so good and I had a Bees Knees as well, everything was made to perfection. However, my husband and I have over 15 years of combined hospitality experience and while I understand things happen, I was extremely disappointed with our experience this evening at Hearthstone. We are huge Disney enthusiasts and active customers at Hearthstone, but today's experience had us choosing not to return for a while. We booked a reservation at 7:10pm, but didn't get sat until 7:45pm while other families got sat immediately after arriving after us. We then put our drink & food order in immediately and were told the food was "taking longer than usual"; we didn't get our food for another 35 minutes only for the food to show up lukewarm/cold. While waiting for our reservation, we did have a great experience with Jessica & Jeremy at the bar, who have helped us multiple times and have always been awesome. After all of this, there was no apology, just a "thanks for your patience" and an offer for a dessert (that we didn't want after all of this). But no compensation or acknowledgement of the multiple lackluster elements of the night. It's deeply disappointing after being avid customers and Magic Key holders for multiple years. read more

I understand things happen but I expect a little bit more from a place that charges an arm and a leg for anything and everything offered at that location. It was nice inside, but everything seemed to take forever to get. So once I was seated at 8 o'clock, we didn't even leave until 10. That's how slow the service was. We loved our food!!! Surprisingly good. We had the habanero chicken wings, mushroom risotto, gem lettuce salad and a pepperoni pizza. All were exceptional! The mushroom risotto though really was a highlight to our meal. I'm normally a meat eater but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this vegetarian dish! The risotto is flavorful, savory and has a umami flavor and the portobello mushroom compliments it really well. The chicken wings definitely is spicy but if you love spicy food it's super addictive! Was waiting in the lobby of the Grand Californian getting hungry and didn't feel like wandering through Downtown Disney to figure out what I wanted. The service was great. I felt super taken care of, and the environment was so cozy. I ended up getting the parmesan crusted grilled cheese and now I'm going to be comparing every future grilled cheese to it. The arugula with the tomato really took it to the next level. So so good, even if a little overpriced. I really wanted the chocolate molten lava cake, but it was no longer available. We had: 1. Chocolate cheesecake - This was so decadent but satisfying. 2. Cookie butter crème brûlée - I always have a weak spot for crème brûlée. This does not disappoint. The cookies on top were crisp and not stale. 3. The decor is one of my favorite styles mission . The Mission style is a design that emphasizes simple horizontal and vertical lines and flat panels that accentuate the grain of the wood. This style of furniture was popular in the United States during the turn of the 20th century. So beautiful this is one of the restaurants inside the Disneyland hotel. So convenient and luxurious . The food was definitely five stars. Our waitress was extremely helpful. I had drinking a DayQuil in the morning on an empty stomach and it made my stomach not good the whole day. Hearthstone Lounge is our little slice of peaceful Disney. No visit to Disneyland would be complete without checking out the Grand California's displays, relaxing in their lobby listening to the piano, and having a refined cocktail at Hearthstone Lounge. On our last visit, we were overwhelmed with the Memorial Day weekend crowds. Normally, we are totally fine with the mass of people. But this weekend was unlike anything we've ever experienced. Maybe it was combination of Pixar Fest with Memorial Day weekend - we'll never know. But we are grateful for our mid-day reservations at Hearthstone. We were promptly seated in a lovely private corner. Hands down one of the most private and quiet spots. We loved it! Our server was an absolutely doll and treated us with so much kindness - I do wish I remember his name! One round of green tea shots and two rounds of dirty martinis plus a delicious plate of poutine fries, we were ready to vacate our quiet respite and take on the crowds. If you're looking for a real cocktail, and a decent whiskey and scotch list, Hearthstone is your spot. Don't have a reservation? The temperature is cool inside just the way i like it and we chilled out and relaxed to a professional piano player that made it very kick back and romantic. The rustic vibes of the lounge are perfect for having a hot meal with some drinks. Currently, they're having a Tea with Santa and Mrs Claus package ($84 for adults, $44 for children). We assumed the pizza would be at least a medium size but it was more of a personal pan pizza. The creme brulee was large enough to share at least. Mashed potatoes came out 15 minutes after his prime rib.
