Heavy Handed is one of my favorite smash burgers in LA - a lot of smash burgers are overrated here (in my opinion), but the Heavy Handed ones are the REAL DEAL! This location has both indoor and outdoor seating, and even a small parking lot (although it's a very cramped one that can be tricky getting in and out of....I usually just find street parking nearby when I come. Ordering is always quick and easy, even when it's busy (which it usually is!), and I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes for my food. As for the burgers themselves, the burgers HIT! Perfectly prepared, great buns, and a delicious sauce that complements the smash patties PERFECTLY. The fries here remind me of McDonald's fries, but a little bit thicker...I personally really like them...whether or not you do probably depends on personal preference. We had a few spots to hit afterwards so shared the double burger combo which came with a drink, their delicious fries fried in beef fat, and a side of sauce which is tangy and cuts through the heaviness. The burger was rich and topped with caramelized onions, picked, and their heavy sauce. The fries are my absolute favorite, fried perfectly, crisp, but still soft and chewy in the middle. A must is a side of their house made pickles which are a sweet bread and butter pickle, crisp, and refreshing. Their burger was good with a potato bun, cheese, caramelized onions, and their house made thousand island that had a kick of almost horseradish but a bit different from normal thousand island. I loved that they piled up the fries which were fluffy and perfectly tasty with their house sauce. The burger itself was a bit lacking. I think the meat was less tender and has more of a chew or maybe it was just the patty I got. Personally I like more sour pickles than buttered pickles so that for me is just a personal preference. I had the $15 beer flight and my choices were the 100 spires (Czech Lager), the Berry Shower (Raspberry Fruited Sour), the Rainbow Harbor (Blonde Ale), and the Tulum (Amber Lager).
