This area definitely needed a ramen spot so this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Walked in no reservation to grab dinner and was promptly seated inside. It's a nice restaurant with lots of seating inside and outside. We got a sparkling sake to share, veggie gyoza and 2 house ramen with pork. Veggie gyoza was the standout. Nice flavors, good texture and cooked well. I appreciated that its served with a lemon to squeeze over them. Loved the acidity being added. The actual ramen bowl itself though leaves much to be desired in flavor and depth. To me the broth was a bit bland and same with the pork. It was good but just okay. I wish it was actually spicy. I have been to their other locations and my favorite so far is the one on Clay. There wasn't much service either to comment on. As a food server for a decade, I truly understand and appreciate restaurant staff. As a result, I have been known to leave a 50% tip on many occasions. This dining experience on 7/16/26 was a frustrating evening of being ignored. We were seated on the patio without a smile and in a room of about 30 tables of which there was one other couple. In the hour, we were there our waiter had us and four other tables. After he took our order and then delivered our food without a word to us,he didn't return. We stopped him and asked for an item yet, he never asked if we needed anything or how our food was. There were four tables that he had seated after us and he walked past us at least 6 times to clear dirty plates off their tables. We were totally ignored on a small table with dirty plates stacked for a good 30 minutes. After clearing the party of four directly next to us and giving them their check, he looked at me and reached across the table over all the dirty dishes and motioned for me to give him my credit card. I asked him if he could take our dirty dishes away. He sneaked at me and removed my plate so, I could sign for the meal. Needless to say, I for probably the first time in my life out of total disarray and frustration pressed "no tip". I never heard a "thank you" or "was everything alright " from him. I felt totally disrespected. Therefore, the service was terrible. The food was cold and cafeteria quality. I would give this a 0 if I could. read more

I've never been to this location, but maybe I should come more! The service is outstanding and the waiter was so kind. He also gave us some matcha candies from Kyoto, which was so tasty! The first thing we noticed was the menu was slightly different, with special ramens not at other locations. I was planning to get the creamy vegan ramen I always get, but opted to try the Sukiyaki one since I was craving hot pot. The ramen broth tasty, not too sweet or too salty! The beef was delicious (some slices could've been thinner cuts of beef to make it more tender, but was still good). We also tried the crispy brussel sprouts, which were so delicious and umami forward with the bonito flakes! Not sure if other locations have that dish, but they absolutely should. We also got the hamaguri ramen which was clam based and came with plenty! Here's a tip, you can check in on doordash to earn points and discounts. We got to claim $5 off on our ramens. Used to be a fan of Hinodeya and visited many times. This time I ordered my usual Hinodeya house ramen. To my disappointment, it tastes different (worse actually). The noodles texture is bad - undercooked in the inside, mushy and slimy on the outside. Part of the noodles stick together in clumps. The soup has less flavor and even the bamboo tastes different. I like hinodeya's ramen a lot and have been back many times. Meanwhile I am a great fan of Tonkatsu in Japan but have never had a good one here in the U.S. When I saw it being offered in Hinodeya, I was elated. It turned out to be a great mistake: the pork Katsu was dryer than a discarded piece of shoe leather found in the Mojave desert. No amount of sauce was going to resuscitate it. I honestly don't know why they cannot get pork chops with a little bit of fat in the US (I can and do), and avoid compounding the problem by overcooking the crap out of it.
