It's a very minimalistic cafe that's open decently late at 10 PM when we went. The bunny logo is quite cute, but wished they did a little bit more with the theming. However, I can see it as a great place to study or do some work. You can either order at the cashier or from the touch screen kiosk off to the side. The menu does have some snacks and bubble waffles, ice cream, and affogato as dessert options. However, in comparison to other boba places, especially in the 626, the options are a bit sparse. I got their white grape oolong cold brew tea with less ice and half sweet. Nice subtle grape taste and a light tea taste too. Refreshing for the hot weather. My friends got the Da Hong Pao milk tea and HOP milk tea, which I felt tasted just like any standard milk tea that's possible to get elsewhere. It is small though so there are chances there will not be any seating. 4/5 on atmosphere My wife ordered the matcha strawberry and it's a bit disappointing. Seems like they just drop a spoonful of strawberry jam in there mixed with some matcha. A 1.5/5 I ordered the I-love-hop milk tea at 75% sweetness. Their 75% sweetness is like a 45-50% elsewhere. There isn't much tea flavor either. A 1.5/5 We also go the waffle with match ice cream. Normal as expected, nothing great or horrible- just fine. This is a cute and lovely hidden gem. I was just in the area and stumbled upon this coffee shop. Typically I get food, but since I was going to lunch shortly after this, I didn't get anything. I am updating my review and also give Hop cafe solid 5 stars! It is quickly becoming one of my favorite drink places.I am in love with their Strawberry Matcha Latte! Not only this drink but also I have been trying many snacks from their menu and everything was delicious. Popcorn chicken is a must try! It is well seasoned and crispy from outside and juicy from inside. The egg waffle is so good. I haven't tried it yet with ice cream. I like the plain egg waffle. It is crispy and indulgent. They told me that they will add onion rings to their menu. For sure, I will try it next time. The service was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The girl, Elisha at the front was very nice and her soft spoken voice is nice. She helped me with a large order of 10 boba drinks. She handled herself well as other customers came in. I was pleasantly surprised to walk into a relaxed, smooth jazz music playing and feel. I expected loud K-pop music playing, but it was nice to have a cafe give me a mature feel and less teenager vibe. It's a very well layed out place and feels very welcoming. It's peaceful and a nice place to get work done on your laptop. They have yummy popcorn chicken and jasmine strawberry tea. Waffle bubbles are tasty too! Location is a bit away from the busy Arcadia by the mall or on Baldwin. But it's easy to get to and less crowded. Overall, I love the vibe!! Customer Feedback - Honest & Respectful I really enjoy coming to Hop Cafe for the music, environment, and overall vibe. It's an excellent place to study -- long tables, outlets, cables, games, comfortable chairs and couches, good music, and a clean space. The food and drinks (especially the coffee and matcha) are high quality, and the employees are always friendly and kind. That said, I do feel the prices have increased quite a bit. A $10 Strawberry Matcha Latte feels very expensive. Back then, popcorn chicken was $8 and the box was full. Now it's $12, and I can clearly see the bottom of the box. The quality is still very good -- I asked the owner and employees, and they told me everything is handmade, which I truly appreciate -- but the portion-to-price ratio feels less satisfying than before. Another small issue is staffing. There's usually only one employee on shift, which makes customers wait longer to order and receive drinks compared to other cafes. I want to be clear that this feedback is not meant to hurt anyone. I respect the owner and staff, and I love how much care goes into the cafe. Your matcha is top-tier -- I even asked which brand you use, and it's an expensive one. The color is incredibly green, honestly the greenest matcha I've ever seen. However, one area that really needs improvement is milk tea. Compared to other boba milk tea places, it's unfortunately not worth trying and doesn't compete well. The coffee is very good overall, but hot lattes need more consistency. Some employees clearly know how to make a proper latte, while others serve a drink that's latte-sized but foamy like a cappuccino. I understand this is a small business and I may sound picky, but as a customer, it can be confusing -- especially since Hop Cafe offers boba, coffee, and matcha, and it's not always clear which direction the café is aiming for. Consistency is also an issue with temperature. Sometimes my hot latte is too hot, sometimes it's not hot enough, and occasionally it's overly foamy. I think it would really help if employees supported each other more during drink preparation, especially for hot lattes. In terms of flavor: - Matcha is excellent quality, but at 100% sweetness it feels extremely sweet (around 125% for me). Ordering 50%-75% sweetness makes it much better. - Hojicha is EPIC -- easily the best hojicha I've had in LA -- but it's also best ordered at 75% sweetness or less. - Coffee: 4/5 -- good, but nothing especial. For example, I expected the tiramisu drink to include a cream top with cocoa powder, but it tasted more like syrup-based flavoring instead. - Milk tea: 0/5. Overall, Hop Cafe is a great place with an amazing atmosphere, high-quality drinks (especially coffee and matcha), and kind staff. It's just become a bit pricey, drink consistency could improve, and the milk tea needs work. Underrated! New shop that opened where the old Cha Time used to be. I chose to stop here instead of going to the usual places after an errand run. You can order at the front, but there is a kiosk next to the entrance. I ordered: popcorn chicken, strawberry jasmine tea with crystal boba, and tiramisu milk tea with boba for my sister. Tea quality for my strawberry jasmine was good. At 25 sweet, you can still taste the tea. It is pretty on par with Sunright's. Crystal boba is decent, nothing to hate. Popcorn chicken was pretty tasty. They use dark meat and the breading is so good. Wish they had sweet chili though. Tiramisu milk tea was pretty good as well. Boba was cooked perfectly and I liked the marzepone topping they used. There is ample seating with plenty of parking. I came when it was pretty empty, but I know it makes a really good study spot.
