We were there on our anniversary on Monday, Mar. 11th, and were impressed! Decor is almost urban chic - gorgeous but cozy. Meals were very good, especially the almond crusted tilapia. Loved the sauce on it! Nice salad that came to the table very quickly. Our waiter, Paul, was friendly and very attentive. On the negative side... we sat in the middle section and it was FREEZING! The people next to us were complaining too. And finally, we had a problem with our reservation. We stopped in personally to make it on Friday. The man who took it wrote it on a Post-it. I was a little concerned and sure enough, when we got there they didn't have us down. But they seated us immediately, so no problem. We'll go back. If you make a reservation, confirm it. Was just here to celebrate my birthday. I had a delicious steak dinner with fresh green beans and fruit cup. The fruit cup was impressive because it was filled with delicious berries and not the cheaper more commonly used fruits such as grapes and melons. My husband was very happy with his scallops and my son loved the fried shrimp. The ambiance is very good and the wait staff was attentive and prompt. We will definitely be back! read more

We were in today for a large party...we had a reservation for 24....the party had to be split between two tables which we were not informed of that when we made the reservation. The drinks were ok but when the bartender brought out the vodka cranberry to one of the guests he told her "this is the best drink you have ever had" but didn't even have a lime on the drink..and she had to ask for one...our waitress was very nice and on point the entire time....she was the lone bright spot in the entire experience....the food was mediocre at best...I had the chicken parm which might have been the worst chicken parm I ever ate in my life....many of the other guests had similar experiences food wise....I did stay for awhile after the lunch and watched some football at the bar...the beer prices where very good and the bartender was great...Overall I wouldn't come back for the food and left disappointed that we chose this place to host our event. read more

Unless you have 2 hours to eat, avoid this place. It used to be okay. Never great but okay. However, over the last 18 months something changed. Service is awful and they always blame the kitchen. We have been here 6 times in the last 12 months and it is always the same - "kitchen is backed up." You would think someone could fix that in a year. Manager is always the same - "yes we know. Used to love this place but it's gone wayyyyyy downhill. It's saving grace is the service. During a recent visit I ordered the miso-glazed salmon services with quinoa salad and edamame. The salmon was terrible -- overcooked and dry dry dry. The quinoa salad, well, I wouldn't have known there was quinoa in it unless I'd read the menu. It was mostly a VERY bland cabbage and carrot mix. No flavor whatsoever. The edamame pods were shriveled and the beans mushy. They had either been streamed far too long, had been prepared hours earlier or had been previously frozen. My husband had the chicken parmesan, which was served over a bed of fettuccine alfredo. The alfredo sauce lacked salt and the chicken was so heavily breaded that you couldn't taste the chicken. We've had two other experiences here in the last six months that were similar (bland, poorly cooked). I will say that the service here is great, and our servers were always attentive and quick to fix issues, hence an extra star. However, I'd rather eat tasty food than get a free, mediocre meal. Ordered for pick up and was very disappointed. We ordered; the beet/quinoa salad, power salad with chicken, and a filet. The powered salad came without black berries, kale or toasted almonds and only a few small slices of chicken. Not $15 worth at all since I'm sure the menu price is figured based on the ingredients listed. The filet was ok but not melt in your mouth like most filets are supposed to be. The beet salad came without the beets, and without the walnuts,it was practically just a bunch of greens with 5 toothpick sized slivers of apple and one dollop of goat cheese, and the quinoa was not even cooked! It was crunchy! I basically paid $12 for a $3 bag of lettuce. They want to offer trendy up chargeable items but clearly do not know how to prepare/ cook them! My biggest frustration is that I paid almost $30 between the 2 salads and they were incomplete and just greens, that's RIDICULOUS! read more

Typically decent, but not last night. I guess they changed the happy hour menu. Only domestics (beer) on special and small plates are now just actually half the price for half the food. Not really a special. Ordered the Fish & Chips for lent and got what looked like two large fish sticks on top of fries... for $14. While the waitress had stated that the meal was $11, that still would have been too much for the small amount of food provided (She did graciously credit us $3). Had a delicious birthday dinner with a friend. She had the meatloaf and I had the stuffed chicken breast. The meatloaf was good, but the chicken was excellent! I remember my sister saying that it was one of their signature dishes years ago when the restaurant was located in the French Market. It lived up to her recommendation! The two side dishes, smashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, were also very good. Add a good bottle of wine and it was the perfect birthday dinner. We ate in the bar and it was a little loud (Friday night happy hour). If you prefer a quieter atmosphere I would definitely say to eat in the restaurant. Enjoy! read more

I'm only giving one star because I can't give zero, first we had a reservation for 10 at 630 and they couldn't even seat us so we ended up not even sitting with our party as we were scattered in different booths,secondly it took 20 min just to get our drinks and we were there for over an hour and a half before we got our food around 8 and some of our parties food was ICE cold and when the manager arrived his pants were hanging so low his whole butt and crack were showing some of our party members received food 20 min before the rest of us,it was an utter disaster from start to finish on Mother's Day of all days I will no longer be bringing my business here or recommend it to anyone else,stay home and save the headache,sad part is it wasn't even that busy read more

I've eaten here a few times and everything I have tried is delicious. The macaroni and cheese with brisket is probably my favorite dish. I love the fact that if you go for lunch you can get smaller portions and most of the time they bring you chocolate chip cookies with your bill. I have had a few bad servers that will forget items and are not very attentive to refilling drinks and such, their staff could use a little extra training. I'm only giving 3 stars because of the lack of training of the staff. read more

My family of vegans and meat eater went to Houlihans for the Impossible Burger. The second time the waitress came she actually heard us when we said we had a question- Was this vegan cheese, vegan sauce and vegan brioche on what was claimed by Houlihans as "Impossible Burger patty, cheddar, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, brioche bun, french fries $11.50 Made entirely from plants for people who love meat"? She said no, we'd have to order it without sauce and without cheese. She said maybe the gluten free bun was vegan. We asked her to verify. She said "we'd have to look at all the ingredients then". We said we'd appreciate it and she sighed and left. While we waited for the reply, we saw another guest get the wrong order and wait 10 minutes while his tablemate had to eat in front of him. It seemed no one was happy. She returned and said we'd have to buy the gluten free bun (making the 11.50 now 13.50 each and without cheese or sauce). I don't mind if it clearly states its not vegan but "entirely made from plants" is not true as there is no cheese plant. read more

Went there with a party of 5 adults and 2 kids. Table had the ahi tuna and pot sticker appetizers both very good. I had the filet, mashed potatoes, fries, and house salad with ranch and it was all excellent. The steak sauce was really yummy. Our whole group really liked everything we ordered. Our waiter was on top of it and very friendly, the rest of the staff was friendly as well. Prices seem reasonable. Like having a nice stand alone restaurant at Kingsdale and wish there were more. read more

What a pleasure it was to be warmly greeted, immediately seated, and then have an absolutely delightful young woman as our waitperson (Olivia is the BEST). I decided to write a review after googling (the act of using google) Houlihan's and I was very surprised by some of the negative comments. I have been at this location in Upper Arlington at least a dozen times since it opened up last year and I've never had a bad experience. The food is fantastic, always fresh and always delicious. I can go on and on about each entree but I would highly recommend the Stuffed Chicken Breast with yukon mashed potatoes. It is comfort food at its finest. The design and layout of the restaurant is upscale and refined, the fireplace adds character, and the lighting creates an ambiance that adds to the overall experience. Most importantly the people of Houlihan's are genuine, kind, and welcoming. read more

We went for dinner on a Friday night; we made reservations. We were seated promptly, and out food came fairly fast as well. It was cooked to satisfaction. Our waitress was busy, so didn't see her much, but not a real issue. I really like the mostly-booth seating accommodation, and because we live nearby, it's very convenient. Having eaten at this restaurant more than a dozen times since they opened, I have to state that recently their food and service have seriously gone downhill. Last week we waited, in a relatively empty restaurant, at least 10 minutes for a wait staff to even bring water. The manager apologized and we then had immediate service only to have my entree delivered not as ordered. Again, manager was apologetic. Today we went and I ordered a 6 oz filet and was told later " oops, sorry, the chef put a 9 oz porterhouse on the grill instead." So I was told I could wait another 15 mins for what I ordered or just take the porterhouse. They offered to give me the filet to take home in addition to the steak I had to eat that I did not order. When the manager stopped by he apologized and I explained this was the second time in a week that a mistake happened with an entree for me and he said only," hey at least you get to eat like a king tonight since we are giving you a filet." !! Really?? I ORDERED the filet and ended up eating an entree I did not order but paid for the filet. How is that eating like a king? My eating partner even commented on how snide the manager was. I have heavily supported this restaurant in my community but will NOT be returning or recommending it anymore. So disappointed in the decline of this restaurant.... read more
