I was in town for work and this place was recommended to me by a friend. I ordered over the phone and walked to pick it up. I ordered steamed pork dumplings and Walnut Shrimp. The restaurant is downtown so parking is a bit tough, you'd have to luck out for some street parking. I'm sure on a busy weekend it wouldn't be fun. ha Luckily I was within walking distance for this trip. :) When you walk in they have a little table set up and the hostess asks what your name is. She greeted me right away and checked on my order status. The dining room was packed..They didn't do a great deal of social distancing in there, unfortunately. When I got back to my hotel I couldn't wait to dig in. The dumplings were good, nothing special, a pretty normal dumpling. The walnut shrimp were very tasty. The sauce was excellent and it had a good soft crunch to the shrimp. The major bummer for me was not having a ton of shrimp and the portion was small portion the price being $22, not including the price of the dumpings. I was still a bit hungry once I had finished which is never fun when you spend that much on dinner. But again the sauce and how the cooked the shrimp was very good. read more

I don't normally go to Asian restaurants when I am traveling, but HSU's was highly recommended to me. We took a group of 5 and we all really loved our dinners. We were looking for a Chinese restaurant in the Atlanta area and came upon Hsu's Atlanta. The reviews were good, so we decided to give it a try. Food was very tasty and fresh! As a starter, the chicken corn soup was very yummy. For entree, ordered the pan fried noodles, Hong Kong style... so good! This dish had plenty of fresh protein, veggies, and the best sauce, noodles were very crispy too! My hubby had the house fried rice. Our son had General Tsu's chicken, which he loved. Since I've moved to Georgia I've yet to find good Chinese food. I work downtown so I decided to give this place a shot via door dash. Two veggie spring rolls & spicy basil chicken. I absolutely loved the spicy basil chicken . Great flavor, enough sauce & just the right amount of sauce. The only thing that annoyed me was the small portion. I'm not sure if that's due to it being lunch time or what. They definitely should give more for the money but it seems common in Georgia that Chinese is a bit higher but portions are small. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. The food was very good. The shrimp were very large, but there were more shrimp in shrimp fried rice than an actual shrimp dish. The food was lukewarm, but it was still good. The atmosphere was quiet and more formal. My brother took pics and I forgot to get, but he got the whole snapper(scary teeth and all lol). Chang C from Knoxville wrote a review about the pricing being unfair between the menu with Chinese descriptions and the one without Chinese writing... stating the menu with Chinese writing was higher priced. Please note the menus were different because one was a DINNER MENU (the higher priced one with Chinese descriptions while the other was a LUNCH MENU. It's not unusual at all for a restaurant to offer lower prices at lunch as portions are generally smaller. I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and know the owners to be genuinely kind and caring folks who would never knowingly rip-off any group of people. I find the food and service to be as excellent today as it was the first time I dined with them. BTW, if you don't love the food they bring out alert the wait staff immediately and they will make it right for you. That's been my experience. read more

First time here on my lunch break. Not sure about parking. But there are lots of parking structures and parking lots in the area. I treated my coworker here on her birthday and this was her restaurant of choice. Arrived at 1:00 on a Friday and we were seated right away. Ordered our food and served within 10 minutes. I ate a light lunch so I just had wonton soup and spring rolls. My coworker has coconut shrimp. Everything was delicious and light not heavy at all. read more

I stopped here for dinner a couple nights back around 6PM. The restaurant wasn't very busy initially but got crowded and noisy shortly thereafter. The staff was indifferent-not mean but not very friendly either. During our meal we were assisted by 3 different staff members. I ordered the duck dumplings for an app and the walnut chicken for my entree. I wasn't blow away by either but they were good. Perhaps it was a off night or service/food was lacking because they were so busy. If I am in the area again I would give them another shot. read more

I went here with a co worker after a long day, so we were pretty hungry. We knew that we were in the mood for noodles, and Asian noodles sounded like they'd hit the spot! This place was around the corner so we checked it out. (TIP: they will validate parking in the garage behind them, I wish I had known this instead of paying $8 for parking) We started off with the steamed dumpling appetizer, you could tell that they were freshly made and very yummy. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in all of Atlanta. I drive a long way to get here and I come here often and the food, service, ambiance, and friendly staff are always outstanding. I usually get the Hong Kong noodles and they are better than in Hong Kong. I've also tried the duck, salmon, shrimp and several other dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed. Tonight my favorite server, Hassib made the best peach martini I've ever had. Fabulous! I tried the San Shan Soup for the first time. It was a perfect prelude to a perfect dinner out alone. Maybe I was overly hungry (although I had a big lunch), maybe it was just the right amount of adult beverages but this place knocked me silly. I don't know about table service and wait times but Monday with Kenny tending the bar was a solid 5. First of all, Kenny is a nice dude. My friend goes there a lot so perhaps I had an advantage because he knows him but he definitely made the evening fantastically more enjoyable. Apparently the jjajangmyun is not on the menu but they sure do have it. It's a noodle dish in black bean sauce, typically found in Chinese restaurants with a Korean influence. It was quite possibly the best I have ever had and I have had a lot of them. Deep flavor, big pieces of beef, crazy good. Man oh man. Next was the hot and sour soup. Bonus was the inclusion of shrimp and scallops which isn't as common. This was spot on. Again, one of the best I have had. Not too watery, not overly sour, simply delicious. I don't even recall which scallop dish we had but if it was on the menu then it was probably the sea scallop in black pepper sauce. We just asked Kenny for a good scallop dish. This did not disappoint. Nice sized scallops with great texture and taste. We decided we wanted more food so we got the mapo tofu. Again, one of the best I have had if you can believe it! It doesn't normally come with shrimp as my pic shows but I was in a shrimpy mood so they threw some in there. There was good heat, a wonderful flavor, nice pieces of pork (and shrimp). Sometimes mapo can be a bit on the sour side but this was not. The pieces of water chestnut took it over the top! Man oh man. Not to disappoint but this was all complemented by some good sticky rice and some pretty good kimchi for a Chinese joint in downtown Atlanta. Man oh man. Placed an order for takeout and the food was prepared in the time given. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and the order was accurate. While waiting for the meal, the resistant was lively but not overly loud. The mood was energetic. The downside is there's lack of space to wait on the order. This was just what I was looking for. A cozy environment, delicious food, and fast service. Pros: the food was well seasoned and not too salty (as some takeout Chinese food can be.) The food came very fast and our server checked on us often. The restaurant was also very quiet, so an ideal place for a meeting or for having conversations. The table near us was a large group, so they can accommodate large parties as well. Also you get complimentary chocolate-dipped fortune cookies at the end of your meal! Cons: while tasty, the food was your average Chinese food and could probably be found cheaper. There are more adventurous options like a whole roasted fish, but if you're just wanting chicken lo mein, try somewhere else. Also, my fortune was completely inaccurate. read more

Very good service, I ordered the spicy basil chicken which was also very good. Prices a little high, but I'd still go back.

We got the curry chicken ($17.95) and the honey walnut shrimp ($20.23), both items were just okay. Just tastes like any other Chinese restaurant. Which is why I deducted a point because for this amount and average tastes, it is way over priced. These dishes would normally cost around $14.00. Although, downtown restaurants are always a little more expensive but I don't think i would come again unless I'm really really craving for Chinese! Service was great, we came there around 4:00pm so that's usually a time where there's not many customers. I do like the Chinese decorations! There's street parking as well as payed lots and garages that you could park around there. I'm unsure if they validate, most likely not but you could ask! read more

I was in town for a conference and decided to try Hsu's. Very impressed with the service and food. I had the spring rolls and they were great. I'm more of a spicy mustard guy and almost didn't try the sweet and sour sauce. It was the best I've ever had! Not to sweet and had a little kick to it. I ordered the Basil Beef and it was excellent! The beef was tender and wonderfully seasoned. I'm normally get Mongolian Beef but decided to try this and am glad I did. The atmosphere is a bit dated but it's easily overlooked after the food arrives. My compliments to the chef and the server. Excellent. This is a cool spot located on the corner of International Blvd & Peachtree Center Ave NE. I would consider it a well know touristy spot in view of all the celebrity photos that adorn the entrance wall. While there I couldn't help but notice a sea of white collar business professionals chopping it up over dinner. It seems like this might be the spot for dinner/networking after work. The staff is pretty friendly, when I sat down at the bar the owner was steadfast in making sure the bartender greeted me and asked for my order. Although the dinner menu seems a bit short, I did notice they carry items that you typically don't see on other chinese food menu's: such as duck. I went there thinking I would get a nice big ole plate of shrimp fried rice but I was fooled. This is an touristy upscale chinese restaurant so that is reflected in the pricing. read more
