I ordered food through Uber eats. But that should not matter. I was the one to pick up my order physically and not a driver. The Tom's scramble is disgusting looking. It looks like they served me leftovers. Burnt potatoes and crumbs. I was told my order was not ready and waited an additional 10 minutes on top of the 30 I was already waiting. Only for the food to be room temperature/cold. Make it make sense. What was I waiting for? Cold food? I don't recommend ordering take out. What a joy to find something different around here! Southern cooking served in a fun ambiance. The bayou is magically transported to California. While we sat at our table enjoying the upbeat music and looking over the menu we were able to see some of the orders being taken out to other tables. Everything smelled good and looked delicious. We were so excited about all the food choices that we ordered a little more than we needed to but had no regrets afterwards. Fried Green Tomatoes - YUM! Served hot and crispy with a super tasty ranch that had just a small punch of spice to it. It was so good I plan to order a whole serving for myself next time. We were really tempted by the beignets but ultimately decided to get the French toast, Pancakes, and a waffle. We all tried bites of each to see which we liked the most. Each of us (4) decided the pancakes and french toast were the winners. The waffle had powdered sugar and strawberry fruit topping that made it overwhelmingly sweet for us. Just a heads up on the french toast - its made using sourdough. This may seem unappealing to those not accustomed to it but give it a chance. Its delicious. The soup and salad combo was perfectly proportioned. The Chicken Gumbo soup was just right. The salad was fresh and had a good basic mix of veggies and lettuce. Our two littles both ate more of their meals than they normally do and even made a lot of happy eating sounds. I recommend this for families with all ages. There's something tasty for everyone. How does this place have such great reviews? Did I come on a off day, was the main chef not working? The food was flavorless, I had to ask for seasoning like Cajun style or something for my food the waiter asked if I wanted cayenne pepper , should of been a red flag , if I knew the food was this bland I would not have waited 30 minutes to be seated or at least I definitely would of brought my own slap yo momma seasoning or Tony's creole seasoning... the gumbo was like swamp water the jambalaya rice was under cooked and dryer then sand... also from the time of placing our order it literally took 3 minutes to bring the food out... I should of known by that it was not fresh.... Honestly the best thing of the meal was the champagne. The children's meals were a steal so I guess I suggest if you dare to eat here just call it in get a kids meal for 7$ and call it a day don't waste 12-15$ on a overpriced small serving meal. Huckleberrys was my go to place on DoorDash. My family always finished their plates and I didn't break the bank buying breakfast all the time. Overall great experience with all their options. So this was my second time coming to Huckleberrys and I can tell you even though they're super busy Huckleberrys is not my cup of tea. Today I sat down and got seated right away and my food came out super quick. I had the following for today's MEH breakfast Hucks breakfast burrito 1/5 it was ok the sausage tasted like hotdogs to me. Hucks pancakes and sausage with scrambled eggs 2/5 tasted ok but I prefer the pancakes and sausage at Black Bear. Service 4/5 I got my food super quick, even though they were super busy. Servers was being attentive to check up on me. Water down OJ 1/5 come on even Denny's OJ is way better this is like the cheap cheap quality. I can make my own breakfast but all that cleaning up afterwards is a pain. Sorry Huckleberrys you guys let my tastebuds disappointed and I can have a better breakfast at Black Bear but their service sucks. If you're ready to throw down and eat a lot of heavy food and drink the wonderful concoction they have dubbed Swamp Tea, then look no further. They got breakfast/brunch/lunch ready to satisfy. The food was very good, tasted fresh and more than filling! The service was pretty fast and just friendly enough so you don't feel rushed or bothered. It was quite noisy in there but it was also a Sunday after church, and the place was packed! Get here early if you can but if not the wait time varies, so it can be 5-10 to more than 20+. Our server was 3 different people like they couldn't figure out our order we got served our door pretty quickly but with that the potato's tasted like they had been sitting there for a while they were cold, hard and very under cooked. We asked for new potato's and those took another 15-20 minutes to come out and well as the pancakes that had been ordered with another meal. The wait was only a few minutes, considering how many people were on the list to be seated. I was really happy with the variety on the menu. We started off with the beignets, a New Orleans sweet staple. The 3 doughnut-like pastries were warm and served on a bed of sweet cream and dusted with powdered sugar. So delightful, and just as good, if not better than the famous ones from Cafe Dumonde! I had the crab cakes Benedict. I loved the panko-fried cakes with Hollandaise sauce. My extra crispy Cajun-seasoned potatoes were so good, as they were seasoned well and fried perfect. My boyfriend had the chicken and waffle. The 3 chicken fingers were also battered with panko and were crispy and moist. My cousin ordered the pancake combo, and although the pancake looked great, she said it was just ok. We were all satisfied with our meals and had leftovers to take home. Service was pretty good, except our first server seemed a little overwhelmed and had a bit of an attitude. Came here for breakfast today (Sunday) after 11am. There was a crowd of people outside and inside waiting for a table. Was quoted about a 15 minute wait for a party of two. The staff was friendly, but they were so busy so service was as expected. I ordered the stuffed French Toast with strawberries. I prefer my french toast to be stuffed with the actual fruit, but here you pick a fruit topping between strawberries, huckleberries, peaches or bananas. I went with strawberries. They were fresh, real strawberries so that was nice. While I really like sourdough bread, I think the use of it in french toast here wasn't ideal. Maybe it was the sour taste combined with the sweet filling, fruit topping and whipped cream that just didn't pair well. I felt like my tongue got numb while eating this. I personally wouldn't order the French Toast (stuffed or not) here again. My companioned ordered a meal with pancakes, ham, eggs and potatoes as well as a huckleberry muffin. He enjoyed his food and I tried some of his pancakes and muffin and thought they were better tasting than my Stuffed French Toast If you don't mind waiting, or better yet try to eat during non peak days/ hours, you might like the food here. It's just crazy when it's busy. It's a hassle to get to the bathrooms as well since they're near the entrance and you have to fight through the crowd of people waiting for tables. read more
