Recent transplant for the west side to the east side and discovered this gem by mistake. They're my second favorite spring rolls in town, and my favorite wanton soup... omg the wanton soup is insane. Staff is extremely friendly, the kind that makes you want to be a better person. That hasn't happened for me yet but for that soup I'll be a really good boy like all afternoon. I've had a few other menu items over the last few months, the rice noodle bowls are full of flavor and was impressed with the claypot chicken. This is a pho review. I ordered the rare beef pho in a medium serving. The broth was aromatic and served hot, the medium serving was plentiful. The beef was not as thin as what is served in most local Vietnamese pho and seemed a little heavy eating with chop sticks. Sides were typical but the basil was not as fresh as one normally gets. Also, this bowl seemed light on noodles. With the level of pho available in the 505 area, the minor imperfections in their pho was enough to warrant a 3-star rating. Service was very good, as was the cleanliness of the place. If there's a standout here, their broth was strongly aromatic in comparison to their peers. read more

Delicious pho. The whole family had pho, my husband and I with rare beef, and the kids with meatballs. I give it five stars because it was fantastic, but I've had equally good elsewhere. However, I have nothing whatsoever to complain about. What was great, too, was the heaping plate of Thai basil and bean sprouts. And lots of lime and hot jalapenos. We were trying to go to Vietnam 2000 on Juan Tabo because we were up in that part of town, but it was closed (Sunday). So, we drove a little further south down Juan Tabo and came across this place, which was open. Really, very good and I'll go back if I'm in that area again. read more

I just moved to NM from Cali, so I'm always looking for Viet food in Albuquerque. I tried the sour soup and fried catfish and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious and flavorful they were!! When I first started eating pho I hated it, but as I ate it more I started to really enjoy it. The great thing about pho is you can customize your broth to taste however YOU want. My pho tastes completely different then my girlfriends I think that's so awesome. I eat here very often. I think they have the best pho in town, reason being I've tried lots of other pho places and I've noticed a lot of the broths are pretty oily and this one isn't that's what separates them from the rest in my opinion. It's family owned and operated and they treat us very well EVERY time we go in. The lady who I believe is the owner has our order memorized to the tee, she doesn't even bring us menus anymore. The name of the restaurant is a females name I was curious to know if it had meaning. I need to experience more of the menu but the pho is absolutely amazing along with the pork fried rolls we ALWAYS get. They come with a sauce that just elevates the flavors they are delicious i love them. They also come with a huge piece of lettuce and the trick is to wrap your roll in lettuce then dip and fall in love. Always wash it down with a Thai tea it's a perfect way to finish and is sort of like a dessert for me.Ahhhhmazing! read more

I got pho tofu with vegetables, it was alright. The noodles, veggies, and tofu were good, but the broth is probably the worst I've had. It didn't taste bad, but it barely had any flavor at all. ABQ has a ton of excellent Vietnamese food so I probably won't be returning to this place. First Vietnamese food I've tried in Albuquerque, and it's pretty decent. Their iced coffee is one of the best I've had-not too sweet or strong. I had the chicken pho for the meal, and I should have stuck with my usual tofu. The chicken looked ... odd. It was fatty, cut into weird "chunks," and it was super dark in some spots. BUT the flavor of the broth was amazing, and that's the most important part of the soup. I'll more than likely come back, even if it's just for coffee. read more

We have been coming here on & off for about 20-years with my crazy habit of going every week for a year or so then making the rounds of other Vietnamese Restaurants for another year or so. After all that Huong Thao remains our favorite. Once after we hadn't been there for a couple of years I commented to a waiter that I wished I could remember what I had last time & he told me what it was. Their business was hurt badly during the recent pandemic and hasn't really recovered but they have a lively carry out & delivery business. They really cut back on the menu but my favorites survived, the Mung Bean Crepe and the Papaya Salad. My warming wife usually orders some sort of chicken with noodles that I don't care for but as leftovers for breakfast mixes well with the Papaya Salad. read more

We eat here every time we fly in to Albuquerque to visit family. If only we had a place like this in our own neighborhood. Service and food are CONSISTENTLY great. The menu is extensive and we've done our best to sample many of the offerings. Some of our favorites include the New Mexico spring rolls, Buddha clay pot, chicken curry over rice, and spicy lemongrass soup. The Pho soup and lemongrass chicken vermicelli are also very tasty. First time ever going to this place, wanting to try out new Pho places since I'm new here and already had a bad experience. I had suck high hopes for this place too based on the ratings. I asked for a simple Shrimp Pho Togo. I get there...the staff is very friendly and the restraint is very cozy. When I get home, I open up all the containers and...there's no shrimp . The broth is good. I'm not going to call and get my money reimbursed. I understand restaurants make mistakes, but it was just disappointing. Might come back to this place to give it a second chance but next time I order Togo I WILL check to make sure the order is right! read more

I grew up in ABQ, and while having been to many numerous other Vietnamese restaurants, I still compare every new one I try to this place. I'm not sure if the family owning/operating is still the same or not, but looking at the photos, it doesn't look like the recipes have changed. I decided to try the Hung Thao restaurant for quick lunch this afternoon. The restaurant is located right next to a super cuts in a neon-green trimmed shopping center. I found the service to be good, and the food to be about the middle of the road. I had the chicken noodle bowl with some red chili paste on top. I found the noodles to be a bit greasy and the chicken to be a bit chewy. After trying the meats I think the quality, size and food portions you get at Huong Thao are good, but the food you get at nearby rival Pho #1 on Central and San Pedro is better. read more

Who knew you could find such good Vietnamese food in Albuquerque? I certainly had no clue, but thanks to other Yelpers, this came on our radar when we were looking for a lunch option outside of the New Mexican / Mexican / American categories. We came here for lunch. It's an unassuming spot in a strip mall, but people know it's there - it wasn't too busy, but it certainly wasn't desolate. I ordered the grilled pork over rice noodle cakes (just to try something new since I usually get vermicelli), and the bf ordered a beef noodle bowl. The consensus was that my dish was better than his, but overall, it was still really good. It certainly hit the spot. Portions are generous, and the prices are right. Would definitely come again if we're back in the Albuquerque area. Cilantro and basil is available upon request, so if you're fans of both like we are, make sure to ask for those! read more
