I found Ian on Craigslist about 8 years ago and kept his number in my phone that whole time, just to call up whenever I needed to move something. I also kept it so I could recommend him to friends! That might sound crazy, but he's just that awesome. For example, I got a free couch from my boss, but she lived in Mid-Wilshire and I lived in Long Beach and had a Toyota Corolla. So, I needed someone to bring the couch (a huge sectional with a lounge) all the way to the LBC for me. Ian rented a trailer, got it down to LB for me, and even removed my old couch and put it on the curb, where it disappeared 20 minutes later. I didn't have to lift a finger or deal with any logistics. Yay! Even when my BF and I did a lot of our own moving and packing, I called Ian to help with unloading. He is super fast, comes with all the right equipment and supplies, and basically makes the whole transition less stressful. He knows exactly what he's doing. I just can't say enough about how efficient he is, and his personality and calm, positive demeanor help make moving not a total bitch. We finally said goodbye to LA recently and Ian and his friend helped us load up the truck for Oregon. He carefully wrapped all our furniture in moving blankets and plastic wrap, and our whole life got packed up, nice and neat, in a couple hours. When we got to OR, I hired a couple movers off Craigslist who turned out to be tweakers, and I sure missed and appreciated Ian's professionalism more than ever! I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH good things about IAN!!!! Moving to a new apartment I was told my refrigerator would fit. Wrong. I had just a few days to get my side-by-side Amana moved out of my old place... And on a holiday weekend. I opened YELP and searched "refrigerator movers." The first listing was "IAN" -- no "Acme Movers," or "The Appliance Movers" -- just a name "IAN." I couldn't help but laugh. Opened the listing and there's a guy with a couple of head shots. Even the reviews: "I called Ian, he brought a friend..." I thought this was very amusing. But I emailed him, he quoted me, we set a day, on a holiday weekend and a time. Ian showed up right on time. Had everything he needed to wrap the refrigerator up and totally protect it. He was professional, fun to talk to, really really nice guy. But MORE importantly, he did EXACTLY what he said he was going to do. He took the stress out of this entire moving process. Last month I bought a fridge off Craigslist and needed it moved from location to location. After a survey of appliance movers on Yelp, I found Ian. Ian was fantastic all the way around! He handled everything gracefully from start to finish. Everything was thoughtfully wrapped up, padded, and strapped down with his own supplies. The woman I bought the fridge from was so impressed with how considerate and helpful he was in her condo, that she asked for his info so she could use him in the future. In addition to packing up the fridge and transporting it to my apartment, he moved my old fridge out to the street corner, and then switched the door handle and hinges on my new fridge for me! I cannot say enough good things about Ian! Six months ago, I needed help moving a fridge and turned to Yelp. I found Ian and he was such a pleasure to work with. He answered my emails in a timely manner and did an excellent job moving my fridge from Los Feliz to deep in the Valley. Cut to 6 months later when I'm moving again (don't ask!). I bought a beautiful O'Keefe and Merrit stove off of Craig's List and immediately called Ian because I trusted that he would take care of my new-to-me baby. Now I understand why Ian has so many 5-star reviews. Ian and his buddy, Mike, moved some large furniture for me and did an excellent job! From day one Ian was very responsive and timely in his communications. On the day of the move, he was punctual, professional, and friendly. He and Mike were so careful with my furniture -- they treated it like it was their own. Not only was my furniture handled perfectly (not a scratch), Ian even gave me some hardware and room-arrangement suggestions! They charged me a very fair rate *and only for the labor performed* (not that B.S. method moving companies use in which they charge for 3 hours even if they're finished in 2). How do you spell professional? I-A-N. I have used Ian The Mover not once or twice but several times and I cannot recommend him enough! This is not just 'some guy with a truck and a piece of rope,' this is a professional mover with really good prices. First of all - he doesn't give you a window of time when he may or may not show up...he gives you AN ACTUAL APPOINTMENT TIME and then shows up EXACTLY WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. I was going to try and move a refrigerator I had purchased on Craigslist from Pasadena to my 2nd floor walk-up apartment in W Hollywood. Ian was recommended by Small Moving Company to move some shelves for me from Burbank to Los Feliz. Craigslist can be challenging when you are sharing a car that is probably too small for anything you find on Craigslist. Ian was awesome. He met me in Burbank (I took two buses there as well as a pitstop at one creepy-ass Starbucks), picked up my shelves, and gave me a ride back. And it wasn't even a weird ride with a stranger. He pointed out the good bike routes, told me all the ways to get into Griffith Park. I felt like an asshole when I didn't have enough for a tip. Not my style, but it was a weird day. The Starbucks experience really threw me off. And just being in Burbank on foot in general. Neither here nor there, but there were moments when I felt like I had walked into an "Unsolved Mysteries" reenactment. Bottom line, I loved Ian. He was so friendly and accommodating. Fantastic move! We had three desks at two different locations to move to a third office space, all outside Ian's normal service area. When he quoted us his very reasonable rate, we hired him. Ian handled the move with professionalism, skill and courtesy, despite the record breaking heat that left me exhausted just stepping outside. Not only did he carefully wrap each piece to protect them from damage, he handled each desk with the care you would hope for from a mover, but so rarely see. When the largest desk, a three hundred pound monstrosity, wouldn't fit through the office doors, he took them off, got the desk through, and reattached all three doors in a matter of moments. To top it off, he was available ahead of schedule, and waited patiently to meet us while we finished preparations. I hired him to move a *very* long sofa from a friend's apartment to mine. The move was executed quickly and gracefully, despite there being a ton of obstructions and narrow passageways on both ends. From the first contact through to the placement of the sofa (which he was right-on about--man has a good eye!), Ian and his partner the very definition of professionalism. I had multiple issues with Ian's Movers: (TL;DR They scratched my floor during the move and refused to pay for repair or fix it.) 1. They did not tell us that their pricing was $117 per hour only if paid in cash - the day of, we were informed the day of the move that it was $127 per hour if paid via card. 2. The move itself was generally fine - they got the job done. They were careful to wrap the furniture nicely so it was protected. HOWEVER, they scratched the floor of my new apartment. While I was hanging around as they moved my stuff, I saw one mover drop a piece of furniture and say "Oh shoot!" After the chaos of the move, I examined the floor where it was dropped, and there was a scratch that couldn't be wiped away. There were additional scratches located on other parts of the floor. 3. I understand that accidents happen and damage can occur during a move. My biggest issue is what happened next. When I contacted the company about the scratches, I asked how it would be remedied. They insisted that the movers told them they did not scratch my floor. When I informed them that I was present and saw the scratch happen in the moment, they huffed and puffed and said they'd come back to me. They went radio silent until my boyfriend very firmly communicated to them days later that they needed to remedy the issue. Shortly after, they sent a handyman to look at the damage. The handyman attempted to wipe away the scratches, which could not be wiped away with water or chemicals. To add insult to injury, the handyman suggested that we simply tell our landlord that the scratches already existed when we moved in. We were offended that we were asked to lie, but also upset that this "solution" could result with us getting stuck with the bill upon moving out down the road. Despite emailing the company once more regarding the result of the handyman visit, I received no further communication from them. There has been no offer to fix or reimburse for the cost of repairing the scratched floor. read more

All I had to do was get a U-Haul and they took care of the rest! When looking for a moving service for items like this, I came across Ian. I was surprised to see someone so well reviewed on yelp; I hoped he would live up to the hype. He so totally did! Setting up an appointment was easy and was scheduled within a couple of days (I was worried that I should have scheduled it a month in advance or something). He was friendly and kind. His friend, Joe, who aided him with this move was nice too. Very down-to-earth, well-mannered guys. We had a nice conversation about Marvel movies too while they skillfully and gently wrapped my fridge up. The whole exchange was perfect! This review is only for my experience with the woman who answers the phone. Based on reviews and website, I am confused. I was looking to have an appliance moved. The woman who answered phone was less than friendly and said they only do full-service moves with a 3 hour minimum. Period. I explained that it seems possible based on the website and reviews. No explanation, just a rude "no" and quickly dismissed. Maybe they changed their services, which is fine, but it clearly states they will move appliances on their site and plenty of reviews here on yelp indicating they were successfully hired for just that. I was referred to Ian by my friends at Real Rock 'n Roll movers because my move was smaller then their minimum. I had not yet read the Yelp reviews, but figured they wouldn't steer me wrong. Oh.My.God. What can I add to the glowing reviews below?! My 5-star vote. Reviews are SO on target! Me: single, moving by myself because I was a) moving 2 months before I was ready b) then actual move pushed up 10 days. Super stressed out between crazy full time studio job and juggling freelance music pr work, waiting to get paid. Car needs repairs. Moving from a teeny tiny spot into a nicer studio spot with weird sizes. Panicked none my furniture would get in the door. How was I going go buy new stuff, while my stuff is still in storage in Chicago? Hottest temps of the summer, 3 digits. Ian shows up with Mark. They are so cool, calm, laid back but uber uber efficient. Ian was straight up about what the terms were re: the amount of stuff, what defined loads. He was so efficient before I even met him and I loved it. He followed through to the letter. Took a lot of care with my things with wrapping extra blanketing...everything. Rudy is the lead guy and he's amazing!!! I also have to say I moved from Encino to a step street in Highland park and it's not easy getting stuff down the stairs. But these guys...no complaints...talking, joking laughing. After I purchased our couch, I initially emailed him to see if he was available, and he responded promptly. I hired Ian to disconnect, move and reconnect my humongous LG Washer/Dryer as well as to dis/reassemble a somewhat complex CalKing platform bed frame - two jobs that many would consider a bit daunting. Ian and his buddy Mike came in and very confidently and carefully handled every detail even for someone like me who is particular about things. Ian even noticed that a bolt was missing on one of the feet and made a recommendation to balance it during reassembly - who bothers to do that? Ian did. As a woman responsible to receive several service calls during my move (and usually alone at home when the calls take place) hiring trust worthy people is important.
