    Juicy Pork Dumplings(8)
    James L.

The Zha Zhang noodles are honestly my favorite thing on the menu... they're very fresh and mildly sweet and salty. I will have to say that everything on the menu is pretty exceptional. The beef roll, the dumplings, all of the protein entrees (yes... there is Orange Chicken... and yes it is very good). Generally Northern Cafe is one of my delivery favorites to Uber Eats/Doordash, but I've recently found out how much more affordable it is to dine in, and this location has plenty of seating, parking and friendly service. I will be back soon.

The rice cakes needed more flavor and sauce. String beans were really good! Street parking

Dishonest Tipping Practice I've been to this northern café in Beverly Hills before with my white husband and had a pleasant experience, so I decided to take my parents visiting from Beijing. Unfortunately, this time was very different. The waiter didn't greet us or offer any conversation. We didn't need his help for the self-service water, but he poured it for us anyway and then walked away. At other northern-style cafes, tipping isn't expected since it's mostly self-serve. Here, you scan a QR code to order, pack your own food, and check out at the counter. When it was time to pay, I noticed the waiter had already selected a tip for me without my consent. The only words he spoke were asking me to swipe, and when I questioned why the tip was already included, he seemed irritated and just told me to sign. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my parents, but this felt like tip fraud. Also the food tasted not great, you can see the dumplings were broken. I'd appreciate a response from the owner about whether this is standard practice and a partial refund of my tip. If it is, it's even more concerning.

Authentic Chinese food in LA. The interior is clean and modern. Service is very fast. Every dish was delicious. Overall had a great meal here! Beef cumin lamb: 10/10 Lamb meat was juicy and tender. The grilled onions were my favorite. So flavorful, can really taste all the spices. Pork xiao long bao: 9/10 Filled with warm pork soup, great with vinegar and chili oil. The shape is pointier than usual like a Hershey's kiss lol. Beef rolls: 9/10 Amazing! The onion pancake is flaky with a toasted crunch. The beef is soft and brushed with a sweet and salty hoisin sauce.

So today is my 5th day in a row eating at Northern Cafe. On my 1st visit I simply came in because of its location. It is like 100 steps from the hotel I'm staying. FOOD: On my second visit I truly came back because the food is DELICIOUS. Everything I have tried thus-far has a distinct natural flavor. Everything is fresh, with unique blends of aromatic herbs. SERVICE: OMG I looooove the servers! I've had the pleasure of interacting with 3 different young men, all kindhearted, super respectful and FUN! If you are in the area PLEASE come visit this restaurant. The dumplings are beyond delicious! TRUTH BE TOLD everything is AMAZING! I WILL BE BACK TOMORROW

This was the most amazing food I've ever eaten in my life. The spice wonton sauce was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The service was also very nice. Overall I rate it 1000000/10

The food is actually amazing and at first I thought why the price is a bit expensive but now I realize that the portions are pretty big. I would definitely recommend trying this place out

First time trying this place with an online order. When picking up the order, they could not find it. They said it was lost... Immediately I was panicking. The order was rather large, it was placed in advanced, and it was already paid. Eventually after a few swipes on their tablet they found the order. They told me not to order online and just call it in next time. Ok... your website says they take online orders, so is your system not connected? Initially not the best experience. Food wise it was ok. I ordered Shanghai noodles with chicken. Portion wise, it was not a lot of food and the chicken was really dry. I was hoping they would use leg meat for the noodles, but they used the breast meat, which usefully dries out when stir fried. Probably won't be going back to this location as the prices here are outrageously more expensive. The staff straight out told me to call in the order to save money because online orders are marked up by at least 18%.

This place was fairly busy when we stopped by for dinner. Most of their ordered online, but despite that we got our food fairly quick. I had their orange chicken ( totally to die for) Chrispy on the outside but soft on the Inside, the sause is homemade and has a pinch of salty and sweetness to it. Their dumplings are fresh to order. Their chicken was great but I probably would've preferred the Chicken slightly cooked more. Chicken wings: lemon pepper is the way to go. Totally an upgrade to wing stop.

Northern Cafe is a favorite dinner spot for my friend and me when we're in the area and craving Asian food. The menu is diverse with vegetarian dishes and meat dishes, which worked out well for my vegetarian friend. We often order a couple of entrees to share and a side dish to enjoy separately. Mapo Tofu (4/5)- Delicious silken tofu cubes in a tasty sauce. The entree comes with a bowl of rice. I do wish that the dish was spicier- heat and numbing. Sauteed Green Beans (5/5)- If you've never had Chinese sauteed green beans, you definitely need to try it. The green beans are garlicky and crisp. This entree also comes with a bowl of rice. Scallion Pancakes (3/5)- The pancake was pan-fried well, but this appetizer was nothing special. Shrimp Wontons in Spicy Sauce (4/5)- I love the plating and the spicy sauce these wontons come in. Each order comes with 6 wontons. There used to be a limited number of parking spaces available in the private parking lot across the street, but the most recent time I came here the lot was closed. The only option for parking is paid street parking. Overall, Northern Cafe offers delicious dishes. Note: If you're looking to order Northern Cafe for takeout, I would recommend calling the restaurant and picking it up yourself. All the third-party apps add $1-3 dollars to every dish.

No more cold appetizers :( they were my favorites!
    Hali Y.

Recently visiting this place again, I'm a little disappointed, as they seemed to have really skimmed down the menu. Of courses prices went up as it did everywhere but it was a bit steep. The cold appetizers were my favorite part and f the menu but they got rid of it :( and while the boiled dumplings were tasty, they were broken and watery which means they were not cooked well. The eggplant was good and I think the beef noodles are popular dishes here, but overall mediocre.

It was a but busy when we got there but luckily we got seared pretty shortly after arrival. We originally wanted to sit at the bar, but opted for a table for less wait time. When first looking at the menu we were shocked by the prices. I knew immediately i wanted to get the hui tou potstikers with pork and noodles. We ended up adding on the hongkong style wontons too. To my suprise the wontons arrived in a delicious and warm broth, keeping them perfectly moist and plump. The broth was so delicious even on a hot day, tasting faintly of sesame and scallion. Despite both dishes being pork they were so different and equally amazing in flavor. The pan fried potstikers which were CRISPED TO PERFECTION especially reminded me of black bean shortribs that you get from dimsum, fatty but hearty and had me wanting more and more each bite. The minced pork noodles were to no suprise, so good. Noodles tasted fresh, the sauce was umami with mushrooms and pork. While im not the biggest fan of mushrooms, i still ate it up. I feel it would be so good with some picked cabbage too to complement the saltiness. Most notable thing... THAT CHILI OIL. We probably used almost half the jar left at the table. It wasnt spicy at all, but it had this flavor that i genuinely have never tasted before. The texture of the chilli and sesame and the nutty flavor had me in awe. Enough to take two jars home... i would do it again. Servers were so quick, made sure everything we needed was at the table. Regardless of the crowd we were met with promptness and generosity. This that wonton place your girl tells you not to worry about forreal. Will be coming back despite the long drive from home.

Anything you can eat you any night you don't have to cook is usually a great night out. This evening was no exception. Our waitress was kind and accommodating. Positive energy, drinks filled and smile that felt genuine. The ambiance of the restaurant was bar like, but with adequate seating for dining in. Everything was prepared wonderfully and had tremendous flavor. I recommend trying their Hui Tou, stuffed with pork or beef, pork and leek pancakes, they also have vegetarian options. Their pork shumai was delicious, xiao long bao's soup dumplings were flavorful. Delicious. I definitely need a second trip here to try their soups and more of their variety of dumplings.

The braised pork belly was so incredibly soft and melt-in-your-mouth, and paired with the pickled carrots and cucumbers tucked into that steamed bao bun - so juicy. We also got the scallion pancakes which were crispy, chewy, and came with a soy ginger dipping sauce. The wood ear mushroom and bean curd stick salad was a nice lighter contrast to the heavier dishes too. We tried the beef noodles as well. The noodles were a bit on the tougher side, which is kind of expected with this style, but the flavors were solid overall. But do NOT sleep on dessert. I had to order the deep fried bao bun with ice cream scoop inside and it was delicious. Absolutely worth saving room for if you're looking to end your meal off with a sweet treat!
