By chance someone gave me a taste of their grilled breakfast burrito from Il Canto Cafe, and I finally got downtown to get my own (bacon, eggs, potatoes on mine....) a few weeks later! Really delicious. I forgot to tell them to not put the sauce on, because I usually don't like sauces, especially Mexican ones....but the sauce is terrific (albeit I could have used less of it) as was the whole place! It was busy on a Saturday morning in early June so expect about a 15 minute wait. Well worth it! It was really rich....took me all day to finish it!! Really fast takeout burrito spot in fidi! No seating inside; it's just an outside counter where you order. We ordered and got our burritos within minutes. The man working the cash register was very friendly. I wasn't a fan of the pesto spinach burrito (was soggy and pesto was very overpowering; I also added ham which was too salty) but the sausage avocado burrito was very good! The chipotle sauce is pretty decent, but the chicken I added to the burrito was bland. I feel like it definitely needs some sort of salsa or hot sauce to go with it. I was just expecting a bit more when considering how people have been hyping this place up. Grilled chipotle meatlover burrito with bacon, sausage, ham, homemade chipotle sauce, cheese, salsa, two eggs, red bell peppers, green onions, and a touch of hot sauce. Also added avocado for an extra charge. About a 20 min drive for delivery. Burrito arrived and it was heavy and dense. It had grill marks on it from what I believe to be toasting and sealing the burrito. The tortilla was soft, making it enjoyable to eat, but I do wish the texture from the grill marks added a touch of texture. I think the burrito being wrapped in aluminum for the 20 min drive trapped some heat and softened this part of the tortilla. I do also wish it was cut in half. That being said, the burrito was delicious. I mentioned it felt heavy and it was in fact densely loaded when I cut it open. Food: - chipotle breakfast burrito with bacon/sausage avocado - I highly recommend either bacon or sausage and add the avocado! They don't skimp on the avocado like other places. I tried it with potato too, but it was a little too dry in some spots. The fluffy eggs, meat, avocado, and sauce combo is perfect. The only odd thing is that sometimes I wish there was an extra side salsa since I am used to putting salsa on my breakfast burritos. I love how reasonable the burrito is. It usually takes me two days to finish, so I save half for another day and I feel pretty full both days. I usually order online before I walk over to the storefront and on the weekdays the food comes out quickly. This is a busy production shop. You will compete with delivery drivers, but they always manage to crank out an order in 10 minutes, sometimes in less than 5. This is regular old food, but it's done well and highly appetizing. Things are fresh as a result, b/c they do volume. Lots of cheese. They're consistently delicious and the coffee cup lids are saran wrapped to help with minimal spillage - something that happens a lot when I order drinks for delivery and the courier is on a bike vs driving a car. It was a warm bundle of chicken goodness, I loved how saucy and tender the chicken was. I did also like that it was grilled and kind of compressed in shape, which made it easier to eat. My biggest complaint though is that I don't know if it was worth the price given the small size of it, and adding any additional toppings cost a lot more than I expected.
