We've been here before & I usually don't leave reviews unless the experience left me feeling very upset. Our party had a reservation for 4. When we arrived, hostess did not greet us. We stood around waited, while they were talking amongst themselves. Took 30 minutes past our reservation time to get seated. Once seated, waiter was quite dismissive of us but was very attentive to the tables surrounding. Food came out late, bread & water didn't come out until food arrived. While they checked in on the tables next to us multiple times. We went to dinner this evening, hoping to have a good night & celebrate an intimate birthday dinner. But everything from the moment we walked in, I felt very uncomfortable dinning here. I saw two tables next to us got complimentary birthday treatments, while I mentioned multiple times I wanted to surprise a member dinning with us with a birthday dessert. The hostess & waiter continued to ignore me... THREE different times. Mind you - the restaurant wasn't busy by the time we were seated. It felt like the whole night, the workers were selective of who they wanted to help. Don't waste your time here. I used to love this restaurant & will not be recommending it to family & friends moving forward after the treatment tonight. Have the decency to treat your customers with respect. read more

I would give this place 4.5 stars if half stars were allowed. First a HUGE shout out to our waitress, Jennifer, who was just amazing. She was just so, so lovely and kind and wonderful. We tried the Caesar salad and the Campagna salad. Both were very good. The Caesar was a tad overdressed for me but the taste was very good. My husband had the corn chowder - really tasty! The bread, served warm, was very good! Other dishes we tried were - the gnocchi, which was so, so good - the spaghettini, which was pretty good - the halibut, which was perfectly cooked and on a bed of corn stew; the whole dish was amazing - the salmon on the risotto was also perfectly cooked. We loved the fact that they offer small portions of the pasta dishes! We didn't have room for dessert, otherwise would have tried the creme brûlée! Great dining experience at Il Terrazzo Carmine! It's high end and you'll feel fancy, but the thing that sets it apart is that the food is actually quite excellent. I have to rave specifically about the gnocchi - it is a pillow-y dream. The sauce is vibrant and it was so good I got an extra order to take to go. The fettuccine with pesto is also pretty good. It comes with seafood but since we're vegetarian, we had veggies subbed in. The dessert was also really good and the espresso martini is a great night cap. My only wish was for the restaurant to have more vegetarian options. I would've loved a vegetarian stuffed pasta but sadly almost everything had meat. I will say whatever vegetarian items we could find were a hit and we will definitely return on a special occasion. read more

Made reservations for an Italian dinner on a Saturday night and it exceeded my expectations. Its located in the back of the lobby of Merrill Place. We arrived on time and stepped inside to the Host stand. They gave us the option of inside or outside and we opted to be seated outside since it was a beautiful, warm, summer evening. The patio has chandeliers, fire pit, white linens, candlelights and fresh flowers on the tables and pillows at my seat. It was beautiful. Service was very good and attentive. Water and bread was brought out quickly to the table. We started with Prosciutto con Melone. Cantaloup is in season and it was delivered ripe with imported parma prosciutto. Very Good. Ordered a 1/2 dozen of the oysters of the day. These were fresh and served at the perfect temperature and with a mignonette. The mignonette was all that was needed to balance the saltiness. For my entree, I ordered the Risotto of the Day. Served w/Wagyu and Gorgonzola. The wagyu was not as tender/buttery as I expected and the gorgonzola was mild. I had hoped for stronger flavors. However, the risotto was prepared well. We were too full to consider dessert. Good cocktail & wine selection; started with a cocktail and ended with a chianti. Service was attentive and spot on. Borderline 5 star experience; a repeat visit may bring it up to 5 stars. read more

THE BEST SERVICE! My family and I made reservations here a month in advance for my sisters 21st birthday dinner! And they did not disappoint! They followed up with us multiple times the week of, allowed us to bring our own cake and balloons, they were incredible! I used to recommend this place as one of my fave Italian spots. Something has changed in the last 6 months. Either the chefs, maybe the owner. Service is great still so no issue there. In fact their service was the only saving grace of the night. Food quality has gone down close to Olive Garden status. 1) Pesto fettuccine with prawns: Pasta was overcooked so it tasted like baby food and way too much pesto. Not enough salt, and I am not a big salt fan so the fact I had to overload on Parmesan and it still was bland says something. 2) Crab ravioli: the crab was either frozen or old because the moment you bite into it, it was watery and fishy tasting. 3) Rigatoni: bland, I seriously think they forgot to add salt to the water when they boiled all the pasta dishes. Or the sauce was diluted. The only thing worth eating was the steak and prawn dish they had, which isn't necessarily what I'd go to an Italian restaurant for. 3 out 8 dishes a fail. That is the reason for my 1 star. I did contact them but no response so customer service is lacking too. read more

Outside of my restaurant--VONS1000spirits--this is the best restaurant in Seattle. Had dinner there last night. ALL good: decor/waiter/food and especially the assistant waiter who gave me a new napkin when mine dropped + butter when we were short, all w/o being asked. Nice italian restaurant with a great ambiance for any occasion that I was looking forward to try. Il Terrazzo Carmine offers a great variety of dishes that all looked amazing. I found our service that night to be just okay as service wasn't the best and came off rude. The plating and presentation of all their dishes looked very nice. The salmon in the Pennette Con Salmone was made very nicely, but I found the pasta, calamari, and Crème brûlée that I also ordered to just be okay. I might consider coming back here in the future, but not highly recommended as a must try. read more

Not so easy to find from the street as it is inside an office building but it is a gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated but very friendly. I sat outside on the patio which was lovely. Started with a small Caesar salad with the requisite anchovies. The shaved Parmesan cheese was a perfect touch. My entree was the rigatoni Bolognese which was also delicious. I highly recommend Il Terrazzo Carmine if you are ever in Pioneer Square. You won't regret it! read more

Carmine's is truly a beautiful restaurant. The service is excellent and this is definitely a go to spot for special occasions. The burata is literally the best I've ever had. Perfectly creamy in the middle as it should be. Our party shared appetizers and entrées. Even though the entrées aren't really meant to be shared family style, it was a great way to try a few different things. We asked for extra sauce on our pasta dishes and I'm very glad we did because otherwise they would've been too dry. The crab or ravioli was especially delicious. read more

There was nothing that wasn't excellent from the antipasti to pesto shrimp to the Osso Bucco, everything was just excellent. Amazing time here! Service was excellent, beautiful atmosphere for a get together or date night, and the food was amazing. The lighting was nice and decor made me feel like I was in Italy! We started with drinks and the recommended starter of their eggplant Parmesan which was delicious and very cheesy. Next I had the linguine Al vongle and I ordered the small which was plenty when I had the complementary bread dipped in it too. Lastly they presented our table with ALL the deserts on the tray. Which was very dangerous as we had no choice but to order desert which we chose red velvet. This was a pricey meal so I would come back for an occasion next time! read more

I had the most amazing lunch here today. I think it was the best Italian meal I've ever had. Started with a hot appetizer, calamari with capers, olives, in a tomato base. The calamari was fresh and cooked perfectly. The tart olives combined with capers and the savory yet also sweet but not too sweet broth was superb. I dipped some crusty bread into the broth to not waste any and soften up the bread, and it was a marriage in my mouth. The angel hair with two jumbo shrimp, clams and mussels in a tomato base was divine. My only criticism is I tasted some grit in one bite. The shrimp were large and a total match with the base. The waiter shaved some fresh Parmesan for me which was just right. I loved this dish. I would have wiped the bowl clean with more bread but wanted dessert. No dessert menu here; the waiter brought over the dessert tray. As soon as I saw my favorite dessert on the planet, cannoli, I asked for that. He explained that all desserts are completely house made except for the cannoli shells. The cannoli was served with two with berries and a dash of cream. They were dipped in a generous portion of crushed pistachios on either end. The filling has a great ricotta. The appetizer and entree were clearly made on the spot, served steaming hot. The cannoli was served on a cold plate and in perfect presentation. I want to note that the service was impeccable from start to finish. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in and offered to choose where to dine. My waiter, Libor, checked on me frequently, more than any other waiter I can recall. He kept the table clear between courses, keep the soda glass filled till I said I was good, and made sure I was happy at every turn. He disposed of the bowl of shells quickly. Another server whisked away a dish and cleared the crumbs. My water was filled three times. I was given a friendly thank you by the server at the door and by a second who held the door for me as I departed. I actually got tears in my eyes while eating the pasta. To begin we walked in from the neighboring winery, very inebriated and ready to inhale our dinner. We approached the hostess stand, where a manager Joele greeted us warmly. He said he would try really hard to get us seated within 10 min. He then hustled and grabbed us the next open seat. The level of effort and accommodation was outstanding. Went here for a birthday. Most of the food was mediocre. We got the calamari appetizer, but they served us squid that was not fresh and kinda gross , had to send it back then asked to change our squid entre for something else for fear of being served old seafood again. The only good dishes were the scallop risotto which I personally ordered and honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time , and the meat specials, but go figure the most expensive things on the menu. Wine was good! Deserts were so so. Espresso was good, but that's almost a given since it's Seattle. The wait staff was excellent!! Overall would not recommend. The place is over priced and and a bit pretentious, and the quality of the food is inconsistent. Really only two-and-a-half stars, but I'm rounding up to three to be generous. Il Terrazzo Carmine has been a long time favorite of mine in Seattle. You don't come here looking for the hip or swanky hipster foodie restaurant scene. Those culinary fads have a place of their own, but Seattle is also home to some great classic and traditional fine dining experiences. Being in the northwest, this isn't a stuffy upscale experience but holds its own to great restaurants while still maintaining a sense of comfort and familiarity. Having introduced a friend to this place a few months prior, we tentatively planned to come in for dinner sometime early in the new year and that time finally came around. We ordered the baked eggplant, and the Caeser salad to start while deciding on a bottle of wine. Both were great choices, and while I'm not going to deduct points here- I would like to point out to management that the eggplant dish could have come out more warm. If you're one to enjoy the creaminess of eggplant while it is still hot with a well-melted cheese, perhaps you can make that request. For dinner, we shared the gnocchi Sorrentina, the pesto prawn fettuccine, and the roasted free-range duck. The pesto was fresh and vibrant, with prawns cooked to perfection. The Gnocchi light and flavorful, and the duck was a great choice as well, despite being torn between that and the bone-in pork chop (next time..) Overall a fantastic experience brought to a perfect close with a couple of espressos and a creme brulee to share. Whether it is a special occasion, celebration, date night, or just another excuse for a nice dinner out- don't miss out on Il Terrazzo Carmine. Cheers! read more

There are quite a few 5 star reviews raving about the food, which, along with articles about great Seattle restaurants is why we went here. While this isn't a 5 star review, I can only speak to our experience. antipasto - cannellini beans were good, but the rest, including the eggplant, were bland. We should have gotten something else. gnocchi - I found this difficult to enjoy because with the red sauce it tasted like a can of spaghetti-o's to us. This is not intended as an insult, it's just how it tasted. The table next to us ordered the same, I wanted to ask them what they thought. It didn't work for us and the gnocchi itself we did not enjoy. beef tenderloin - The reduction sauce was good and the meat amazingly tender with lots of flavor. However we asked for medium and there was zero pink. This was the highlight of the dinner. The literally plain flavorless veggies however were disappointingly lacking creativity and any taste. risotto - cooked al dente but flavor too subtle to like. The cappuccino wasn't made correctly. For what is supposed to be one of the best Italian restaurants in town, the prices were lower than I expected, which is a plus. Service was great, but there appeared to be one waiter for the main room, so we waited a long time to order food. I assume this was due to everyone just getting back to full strength after the lockdown. Minor pet peeve - slices of cold hard un-spreadable butter from apparently a stick of butter is unimaginative and not of great use with the bread. Soft, spreadable, flavored butter would have been of more use. I spent a lot of time researching great Italian restaurants and it came down to this or Cafe Juanita. The staff were great and we tipped very well, however based on our experience with the food, not tempted to go back and try again. We will have to try Cafe Juanita next time. read more

It was a stormy night and we were less than prepared. We skipped the Lyft to save money and arrived wet. We shed our jackets, prayed for warmth, and were soon placed at the only table by the back door. Customers entered every five minutes and blasted our damp clothes with cold air all night! We never warmed up. That aside, the food was high-caliber, with fine appetizers and stellar entrees: - Appetizer taster: 4 stars - Crab bruschetta: 4 stars - Mushroom polenta: 4 stars - Seafood ravioli: 5 stars - Duck w/cherry: 5 stars We left our table for a while to avoid the cold and watch the chefs do their work over the counter of the open kitchen. It seems that many people here rave about the great service but our experience with it was absolutely terrible. The waiter was extremely slow and inattentive the entire night. We tried to be as patient as possible because we understand how busy it can get, but seeing how he seemed to be more attentive of certain tables just tipped it for us. It seemed he picked and chose "favorites". He took 45 mins to take our order, didn't check up on us a single time the entire night to ask how the food was, took forever to bring out our bottle of wine (and once he did, he just left it behind us on a table because he ran to the service of some other table instead of serving us first?), we had to ask for the check 4 times (not even from our waiter bc he never came by our table), and to top it off there wasn't a single apology from him when I brought it to the hostess' attention. Other than that, the food was average. I enjoyed the recommended pinot noir (santenay clos rousseau premier cru), carpaccio and rigatoni. The outdoor patio is beautiful to dine in. However I will never be coming back ever again and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
