I love this place very much. It is a great experience. When I entered this restaurant, I knew that I came to the right place. The walls were full of Korean menu. All other customers were Koreans. We ordered pork jowl, rib eye, ribs without bones and kim-chi & pork belly fried rice. It was fun to cook the meat ourselves. The small dishes were great and I loved the potato salad and the fish with walnut. It was kind of embarrassing. The waiter put down this dish. We just started scooping the rice. We ate, and also realized the waiter had brought us some bowls. He also stirred the rices and made it flat. We obviously did not need the bowl because we had starting eating with the soup bowl we had. Anyway the soup bowls were the same as the rice bowl. This place is ordinary Korean BBQ, nothing to rave about. My boyfriend and I ordered the beef and pork combo for ~$48 and we had leftovers. The combo came with soup, rice, and the side dishes. Good meat, bad service. We usually go to Gooyi Gooyi but could not get a reservation that night so we decided to try this place. It was empty when we arrived, maybe 1 other table was seated. I asked the guy what pork cheeks were because I have never had that before and asked if I could substitute that out with something else. He said that day was his first day working there and he didn't know. His brother is the owner and went to Korea. The meat quality was very good. The serving sizes were generous. The quality and quantity is much better than Gooyi Gooyi (and Tobang), and Ilbunjee is much cleaner, but it also is more expensive. If all you want to eat is meat and don't mind cooking your entire meal, then this is the place to come. If you want good ban chan and want duk bo sam, go somewhere else. The ban chan was underwhelming. Aside from the weird mashed potato salad dish which was surprisingly tasty, the ban chan was very minimal. In addition to the potato salad thing, we got kimchee, pickled/shredded daikon radish, some strange dried shrimp, salad, and lettuce. We also got a fish cake soup which was decent. I was very disappointed with the service, thus the 2 stars. They did not even turn on the burner for us. After sitting for a while waiting for the burner to be turned out, we figured that we had to turn it on ourselves. We also had to cook every list bit of meat ourselves. Not once did the waiter/waitress put meat on the grill for us.At Gooyi Gooyi and Tobang, the servers are very good at cooking and cutting all your meat. If I had never been to this type of restaurant before, I really would have had no idea what to do. I go out to eat so I don't have to cook myself. For this reason, I would not come back here. Lastly, if you like the seafood pancake, den jang jigee, and kimbchee bokum bap (mixed rice) that you can get at Gooyi Gooyi and Tobang, you don't get that here. They no longer offer kimchee bokum bap at all. All they have is an octopus bokum that is seasoned with hot pepper paste, which we chose not to try. read more

You know a korean restaurant is great if all you see is Koreans in here. This place is traditional korean bbq, no rice paper not all you can eat, but top notch meats! We ordered the beef and pork combo for 3 and ended up around 30 per person total. Super good pork jaws- chewy and crispy. The brisket was great too, all fresh. A bit pricey though if you are used to AYCE bbq. You do get extremely full at the end though! The sides and the fishcake soup were all very tasty. Went with a couple of friends for dinner and had an amazing time. Great atmosphere when it was half filled and even when all the seats were filled. The meat was delicious and the service was great. Definitely coming back with friends to enjoy this home-styled restaurant. I really felt like i was in another person's home and not in a restaurant. Best kbbq in south bay, one of the few reasons I'll come down here. No fooling around, gives you the essential banchan, the combination BBQ platters provide a wide array of meats for a fair price. You'll pay about the same as an ayce place, but you'll get far better quality meats. Highly recommend! read more

DON'T GO HERE!!! Came here for dinner. Ordered 5 meat combo for 11people. Space is very small. My cup of noodle would have been more satisfying. My 10 yrs old said" this is our 1st and will be our last time here.. agreed 100%!! Gave us 3 tiny side dishes, with one yes one leaf of lettuce for each person. They said they ran out of lettuce when we asked for more.. their meal doesn't include rice. Service was by far the worse ever encountered. If you want real high quality of meat, you should visit this place. They have real good pork and beef. they do not have special sauce for your meat, but I know it is their style to keep the original taste of the meat. My bf is Korean, and when we just started dating, he took me here... my first impression was like...are you kidding me? Out of all the good Korean restaurants in the South Bay, you take me to this little ghetto place? This is definitely not the best spot to take your date; imaging men crossed their legs on the chair with no shoes on, group of men smoking outside, room filled with business men, drunk men...etc. I immediately downed a few shots of soju so I can get myself buzzed. Maybe the soju worked or smell of the bbq or the sesame oil dipping sauce. I instantly fell in love with this place, and knew this guy (my bf) is a keeper. How can you not like a guy who can work the grill and fan away the smoke for you!? Good choice honey! Now that I like #1's non-marinated meat so much, I don't even eat Kalbi anymore. The meat is so fresh, tender, and you can "actually taste the meat rather than heavily marinated sauces"! Get the bbq meat combo here...it's a great deal! We ate Ilbunjee again and we are blown away by the quality of the meat. The meat is so soft and tender, it's the best quality Korean BBQ I have ever had. The meat is sourced from a farm that grass feeds their animals and you can definitely taste the difference in quality. Very friendly restaurant staff with pretty good meat. I had the pork and the beef and was pretty satisfied. The kimchi was a little too fermented, but not bad if you grilled it.
