I came here for their lunch buffet last week, we were so lucky to find parking right next door . There's seating both upstairs and downstairs, we chose to sit downstairs because there was a nice view of the street. The lunch buffet selection is rather small compared to other places I've been too, but if all you like eating is butter chicken and naan youre good . I wasn't impressed by the food because it was all way too salty. The only dish that wasn't that salty was the rice but that was all chewy and dried out. My favorite dishes were the fish pakora , and the mushroom marsala but those were really salty as well. read more

Takeout was delicious. Due to my inability to cook Indian food, I decided this was a good takeout choice for Yelp's Big Night In. Ordering on the phone was easy and the food was ready very quickly. The palak paneer, vegetable korma, and aloo gobi were all delicious. Medium level of spiciness was perfect. Heat you can feel and needs some rice or naan to balance, but not too overwhelming. It was just ok curry and for the price, we won't come back unless it's the only place in town open. Chicken tikka masala was just ok. It was kinda bland and we've had better. The garlic naan was amazing though! However it doesn't justify the bill at the end. $6 for 1 order of garlic naan and almost $20 for the curry?? Finding a parking spot to pick up my order was a big headache for me. It took me a while just to find parking which is one of the reasons why I probably won't plan on coming here to have dinner. The location of this place is great and from the outside it's a cute restaurant. When I entered it was tad bit dark and quiet inside which was not what I expected. With great reviews I thought it would be busy and even if they weren't they should play some music to set the mood. I don't enjoy eating at restaurants where I hear the kitchen including the sound of the refrigerator. I ordered through the phone and just got the chicken biryani and asked them to make it spicy. It was 16 dollars for their biryani which is expensive compared to other Indian restaurants. I have to say my biryani was really good and the raita that came with it was amazing. I was satisfied with the chicken biryani it had the right amount of spices and the chicken was also flavorful. Despite my struggle to find parking I'm glad I ordered from here because the food was wonderful. I'm taking a star off because of the parking! read more

Garlic naan was tough and stale - not ordering naan again. The food was delicious just priced which is why I took a star off. I haven't been able to find good Indian food in this area so I was very happy with my order as far as the taste goes. Ordered several dishes for takeout. Overall the food was solid. The Fish Pakora was overly salty and dry (-1 star). The worker who 'greeted' me at the entrance was less than welcoming and gave off the 'I'd rather be anywhere else in the world right now' vibe (-1 star). All the chicken dishes were solid. Naan was as good as you could expect takeout naan to be. Price is reasonable for the area. The Indian food scene in the Tri-Valley is pretty fierce, but India Garden seems to survive. We experienced authentic North Indian taste and fresh rotis. Paneer Tikka and Malai Kofta were awesome. Overall impressed with food quality and freshness. The food was one of the best we have had in the area! Veg pakoras were so-so with more taste of batter than actual vegetables which I would not recommend. Initial service and open containers of gravy is where they need to improve. We saw buckets of red and green gravy open at a place within the restaurant. This is a hygiene concern. We found initially table to be dirty and had to ask for help 2nd time to clean floor with food lying around. There was no reaction from the staff as they cleaned. In general staff could learn to interact better. I hope the manager/owner takes note of hygiene concern and instead of hiding open curry buckets away from customers' eyes, they actually cover them and store them hygienically. read more

When you find a spot within walking distance from home that's got a ton of vegetarian offerings, it's sorta like hitting the jackpot. Been here several times - each time for take-out. We came for the lunch buffet. Very affordable - $12. The restaurant is located right off of Main street in downtown Pleasanton. Same block as Starbucks. They have a small parking lot or you can just park on the street. The restaurant size is smaller-ish, older building, somewhat hole in the wall. The buffet is in their hallway area. The meat side had lamb bone in curry, chicken bone in curry, chicken tikka marsala, tandori chicken, & breaded fried fish. The vegatarian dishes included brocolli, cauliflower, chickpeas, mushrooms, and a few other items. They had the sweet donut balls for dessert and chai tea. They will bring out naan to your table. They also have a condiment area with yogurt, mango chutney, and a few other items. I did feel like I wanted the food to be a bit hotter in temperature. (@Cynthia S, whaaaaa? They're on Uber Eats? Gotta check that out!) I've come here twice for dinner and three times for lunch. All times were DE-LI-CIOUS. PARKING Street, and a few spots (3?) in a tiny parking lot adjacent to the resto. SEATING For lunch, they can suggest seating but usually let you sit wherever you want within 3 minutes of you arriving. Sometimes, dinner can be your proper 10-15 min wait. They have two sections that I've seen: this enclosed sunroom and the main dining room. LUNCH BUFFET You could order a la carte, or you could go for their awesome lunch buffet. Foods here rotate, but there's a buffet dedicated for vegetarians as well as a cart for the meat eaters. There's salad with three dressings, fried bread, and then a rotating assortment of most popular dishes (e.g., butter chicken, daal, pakora, masala). My newest discovery, three lunches in, was the chai that's part of the buffet. SCORE! DINNER A la carte, but don't forget your 10% Yelp discount when you check in! My go-to dish is Daal Makhani, because I can't get enough of it. I recommend getting it with a side of naan or rice. Also, I don't handle spicy at all but would suggest to just go for low-spicy at the very least. I ordered it "no spicy", and it was delicious. Certainly the ghee came out, but I think I could have handled just a little bit of a kick. SERVICE Very friendly, very forthcoming with their suggestions. Came here for dinner with my family. Service is great. Water and dining ware were brought almost immediately. The water was undrinkable in our opinion because it smelled too strongly of bleach, whether it's from the purification system or how they wash their cups. We drank our mango lassis instead. Ordered the following: -Palak paneer: I usually love this dish but not from here because it tasted burnt. All I could taste was the burnt taste and a overwhelming taste of ginger. 1/5 -Butter chicken: This was the best dish, it was very tasty and all of us enjoyed it. Sauce was rich and chicken was plentiful. 5/5 -Bread basket: Variety of naan including onion, garlic and plain. The naan was nicely made and packed with onions and garlic. Super delicious and loved that I was able to get a variety of flavors. 5/5 -Lamb curry: I didn't try this because I don't like lamb but it looked like my family was enjoying it. Food was amazing we ordered the tandoori fish tikka very flavorful and a good size portion. Chicken curry was great very well spiced and had hints of eggplant which I loved! The star of the show was a toss up between either the garlic naan or the butter chicken they used ghee on the naan and it was out of this world. We also had rice and a cucumber salad.
