Ordered takeout for the first time on Saturday at about 2:30. Ordered The Royal Dinner for 2, Assorted Platter appetizer, side of Raita, and two Masala Teas. Pickup was quick and easy, they were quite busy at 3pm for lunch. Everything was hot and tasted fresh. The Royal Dinner for 2 comes with lamb curry, vegetable curry, chicken tikka, saag paneer, tandoori chicken and shrimp, boti kabob, naan, and rice. The lamb curry was tasty, albeit a bit fatty. Chicken Tikka was different...the sauce was creamier than we are used to. It was good, just different. Veggie curry was a bit bland but the mint sauce helped. My favorite was the Saag Paneer, delicious and flavorful. The tandoori meats and kabob were good as well. We received two large sides of rice but they forgot the Naan. We were very, very disappointed by that. The Assorted Platter was good and even better once reheated in the air fryer. The Masala tea was hot and sweet. We also received two sides of the mint sauce and tamarind sauce. Both are really good and went well with everything. Raita was delicious but on the watery side. Overall good first experience minus the missing naan. Will be back to try the buffet at some point. They have a server make your plate. Arrived for dinner on a weekday around 5:30pm. It was not crowded, but there were a few parties already seated. Upon siting down, I was immediately asked for a drink order and then given freedom to enjoy the buffet. The most amazing item in the buffet was the goat stew. I am not even usually a fan of goat, but the meat was soft and melt in your mouth delicious. I can't believe I wasted some stomach space on chicken masala, Saag paneer and meatballs! If only I knew this was so good, I would have dived for it first! I feel that the curries here are not as flavorful as some other restaurant's. Although, please remember that I am sampling their buffet and not their menu items. Saag paneer did not have much paneer, but perhaps it's because someone picked out all of it? The spiced roast chicken also tasted rather dry and unflavored. I ate here a few years ago and their weekend buffet tasted much better. Would I return? Probably not, there's several better places around the city that I would prefer to return to. After tax and tip, the price is about $16 per person. I would say that's a bit on the high end, as the quality was not exactly to the degree I would have preferred. Further, they didn't pass out fresh naan bread. I only go to the lunch time buffet so my review is based on that. It is open for dine-in, the tables are spaced out and everyone is wearing masks. Due to safety precautions, you go to the buffet area and tell a server what you want and they will make your plate, which is a great deal because you can still enjoy their amazing buffet. This place always rocks! Buffet has a large selection of delicious entrees, and two different types of rices to choose from. My faves are the samosas, saag paneer, butter chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, lamb korma, and mushroom matter masala. I have not had something here that I do not like. Their chutneys are sweet and spicy. Desserts are limited but just as delicious as the entrees. The place is a little small, but I've never waited on a table. Takeout is just as quick. The small displayed buffet packed a megadose of amazing flavors and tastes that left me stuffed like a thanksgiving Easter bunnied reindeer . Been craving Indian Food so we decided to eat at India Palace. Food was ok considering it was a buffet. Disappointing Customer Service. From the manager on down - workers don't acknowledge anything. I was craving Indian food sooo bad and really wanted to find an Indian buffet in NW San Antonio. My boyfriend's never had it before so I was excited to introduce him to all the curries and other deliciousness. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and the buffet price was about $11 a person including tax. Very reasonable price compared to the other ones I've been to. There's about 16 buffet items to choose from (2 of them were rice, 1 was naan, 1 was samosas, and 12 entrees). I didn't count the salad bar because I was there for Indian food alone. WOW. Everything was so flavorful and filling. The samosas were crispy, the naan was soft, the curries were creamy but not overwhelming, and the curries and masala were all delicious. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the food and service. We were satisfied with our meal but wish that there were more options. I came from Houston where the Indian buffets are huge so that's where I got the comparison from. Nonetheless, it was great and we'll be back if we're in the area again. My husband and I were craving Indian food and decided to check India Palace! I'm so glad we did because the lunch buffet had our favorite dishes. The place is pretty spacious inside. Everything is clean and the staffs were all very nice. We got seated right away (Monday lunch). My husband and I love their fresh naan. We've been coming here for years and it's always been consistently good. My fiancé is Indian and we cook a lot of Indian dishes at home, so we know a thing or two about how the food should taste. Spice level is good on the dishes that are meant to be spicy. Mint chutney is pretty spicy, which is great for dipping samosas! Buffet food is fresh and hot and there's a good variety of food for everyone: tandoori chicken, meatballs, curry chicken, chicken tikka, naan, vegetarian samosas, Chana masala, saag paneer, eggplant aloo, aloo & green beans, daal, two kinds of basmati rice, etc. There's a dessert bar with fruit, mango custard, salad, and a couple of other things. Our 5-year-old likes it. He eats the white rice, curry chicken, meatballs, samosas, and naan...and drinks lots of water! Haha. Kids are $6, so we appreciate that. We think it's a good value for the price. Service can sometimes be lackluster, but today it was great. Drinks stayed full and dirty plates were cleared quickly. Another reviewer mentioned that the place is small. I guess they didn't realize there's a second section that doubles the size of the restaurant. They open it when crowds warrant it - it's always been open on Sundays when we come and we've been seated back there before. As for the decor...who cares? Looks like India to me! AMAZING!! Food was great and so was the service and the proof is in their Blue Plate award!! The restaurant is a buffet style, but it's not a huge buffet line (about 3 tables)which is just fine because the entrees they have are plenty and very enjoyable. They offer like 4 or 5 vegetarian selections and they are all great. They also have a table for dessert and the mango pudding is super delicious. The restaurant has table and booth seating. It isn't a very big restaurant so you need to be careful when walking around to not bump into anyone. I really thought I world give them a 5 star review, but in the end there were just too many pieces of the lamb that were very and had an off taste. The portion sizes are huge, as I read in other reviews, however, that's just the rice. The amount of meat served with the dish is normal, but if you like rice, you'll have lots of leftovers. When we arrived home we experienced, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, headache, stomach ache and this was at during the nighttime the next morning we went to urgent care. The lab test results indicated that we had virus and bacteria. The dr asked us to go to ER the following night. I did call the restaurant and they said there had been no reports, I am posting this to see who else became food poisoning on this day. First time trying this Indian buffet I've heard of this place for years on Yelp. I usually go to the Indian buffet in Stone oak, which is pretty bland and the buffet is always cold Everything here was hot and very flavorful. Each dish stood on its own. The spinach dishes tasted like spinach, the chickpeas taste like chickpeas, each Curry had its own distinct flavor and popped with spices. The dal soup was extremely satisfying. The samosas or hot and lightly crispy with a very thin skin, a delicate puff pastry like consistency. The service was second to none. I tried the goat Curry and chicken tikka masala. I tried the egg Curry but I didn't like that. I didn't try any of the rice dishes except the jasmine rice I want to try the red rice next. The naan bread was cut up pretty small in two triangles and wasn't as garlickly as some other Indian places. For dessert I liked the milk balls, although the milk balls at the Stone oak Indian buffet more better. the lunch buffet is a much lower price even though they have the same items at night. I paid 14.99 for the dinner buffet. I find that a bit much, when I'm used to paying 9.99 in Stone oak for the same items basically on the menu. Roti bread of choice if you find that garlic paan is too garlicky. I choose their buffet which had so much variety even for the meat person as myself or the vegetarian diner. You can order of their menu too folks. A nice cold dolce beer with their food works for me. I ordered the goat paneer and the shrimp battered appetizers of the menu. for my dessert was the gulap jarmoon sweet flavored treat. Supposedly deep fried than soaked in a sugary sort of liquid. It was my first time having Authentic Indian Food but I have to say to my surprise it was actually very good and not overwhelming for the senses.
