The food was good but the service was dismal. We arrived for sit down on their patio and there was a table with four and two take out customers waiting. We were seated right away and the water was offered and brought out fairly quickly. We ordered the tofu appetizer. While we waited another customer was seated and at least two other take away orders came and left. Finally after about 25 minutes, we questioned where our appetizer was and were told they just started it!!! It took another 7-10 minutes for the tofu to arrive. This was okay. Decently fried although the dipping sauce was lacking in flavor. After finishing our appetizer we waited another 5-10 minutes before asking after our entrees. We were again told that she would tell the kitchen to start it!! Now when the food actually arrived it was quiet tasty. We had a salmon dish that had a nice piece of salmon and their brown rice was quiet nice. The eggplant beef had a right level of spice and good balance to meat and vegetable. It was also disappointing that even their sit down service was served in all disposable items. If you have leftovers your meal gets transferred to another plastic container. It looks like a small family operation but they were definitely overwhelmed and I feel that sit down customers need to be prioritized over take away since take away are given an estimated pick up time which can be adjusted depending on how busy it is. Also working on noticing your customers that food is in progress versus the customer having to repeatedly track down their food. I hope they can turn it around because the food was delicious. read more

Not a fan. Here's why... We ordered Tom Kha with chicken, fresh spring rolls with shrimp and red curry with beef. The soup was very watery, not much to it at all- tons of big onion chunks that were crunchy, overal bland. The spring rolls came out next, they were rolled really large and cut in half (4 pieces). They were stuffed full of an iceberg mix and had one shrimp per piece. That was it. The lettuce was fresh and so was the shrimp, but I've had better fresh rolls from to-go sections in grocery. The curry was our final act, and like the soup- it was very runny and not spiced well. The beef was decent, a bit chewy but with good flavor. There is seating for about 14 people inside, and there are a few tables outside as well. Would not recommend if you are a large group. The small venue does not seem to hurt their business. While we were there, a lot of takeout orders were being filled. The service was helpful and very friendly. We were pleased with most of the food as well. Here is what the three of us shared: Pad See Ew with beef. It was a good sized portion, and a flavorful entree. (4 stars) Papaya salad. None of us were too crazy about this choice. Not saying it was bad. Just that most other places we've tried are better. (2.5 stars) Massaman Curry with chicken. It was tasty, but more chicken would have been nicer. (3 stars) Crab fried rice. This is my favorite Thai food place in Poway! Decent prices, and great quality for the price too. None of the other Thai places in Poway even come close. The curries are always rich and creamy, and the noodles are on point. Staff is friendly and I haven't had any issues with them forgetting anything or getting an order wrong. I go for their drunken noodle dish normally, and it always hits the spot. Girlfriend goes for the curries. Last time I went, I tried their special that day which was a coconut shrimp curry which was very tasty, the coconut shrimp stayed pretty crunchy even with the curry, was glad it wasn't soggy. The way they keep their utensils hidden in a box on the table is interesting, they should probably put a few extra napkins in there but that's no big issue. The food here is awesome and authentic! The owners seem very passionate about the food they create in their kitchen. When I'm in the neighborhood, I'll stop by here for my thai fix. Sadly our first experience here will likely be our last. The food was just not good. The panang curry is so thin it could pass for a soup. They also put about 4 small slivers of chicken in it. Absolutely the most pitiful curry I've ever encountered. The Tom Ka soup was a disaster. It tasted sour or spoiled, and again also had very little meat in it. Another place with a different owner was in this spot. Since it's new we felt we would give it a whirl. Our typical base line for comparison is yellow curry with chicken. They offer 1-10 for spice level. Taking a chance, we ask for a 4. We also added chicken satay and fried rice with tofu. Driving it home in the car, it smells pretty good. Once we get it home, we open the containers. The portions seem generous. We silently take a bite. OMG! It's perfect! Absolutely delicious! Everyone is thrilled. Having lived in Poway for 3 years, I really appreciate that the town is getting more Asian flair. I came here with my friend, her husband, and their baby on a Tuesday night around 8:30PM. The restaurant closes at 9:00PM, but they were kind enough to seat us. As starters, we got a thai iced tea and tom yum soup. For entrees, I got the pad see ew, my friend got the yellow curry, and her husband got the salmon panang curry. Food: 5/5. My pad see ew was pretty good, but I really like the salmon panang curry. I've never been to a restaurant that served salmon curry, and this one was pretty good. However, the potatoes in the yellow curry were hard, but that did not ruin the taste of the curry. Service: 5/5. The waiter constantly checked on us to see how the food was. Overall, one of the few Asian restaurant in Poway that I think deserves a shoutout. The food was good but what really made me never want to come here again was that the sever mixed me and my boyfriends food up. Not the orders ok. He had some fried rice that has nuts in it. I got fried rice with shrimp. We didn't finish so we asked for to go boxes. Since moving to San Diego from the San Francisco Bay Area, where there is an abundance of Asian cuisine, we have had a difficult time finding an Asian restaurant to call our favorite... Until we tried Iron Pan! The food was delicious. The service was friendly, quick, and efficient. The space was quaint and clean. We went in for lunch on a weekday. The place was almost full but service was as good as if we were the only patrons. My husband had the Thai basil chicken which he liked so much he would order it again. I had yellow curry chicken and loved it. Lunch specials come with soup (dine in only) or salad and an egg roll. It was a filling amount of food but we couldn't resist the fried banana and ice cream for dessert. Save room for that because it was worth the calories! read more

Amazing and fast service! I went on Yelp to find out a local nearby Thai restaurant since I love to go shopping at the Home Goods nearby. My daughter is obsessed with crab fried rice so the Thai place would have to have just that so that's why we checked this place out! We came in and the waitress asked us if we wanted to be seated in doors or outdoors. Me being indecisive I said indoors but it's been really hot in San Diego so I asked her if we could switch and she was super patient with my daughter and I (which is a plus because we all know how hard it is to deal with toddlers and parents sometimes). The patio has a nice vibe and I would suggest everyone to eat outside since it's always beautiful out. I decided to try the special on the menu "Thai Drunken Spaghetti" and honestly it wasn't amazing it was mehhh but because the waitress described it to me and it came out just as is I'm sticking with my 5 Star Review. This is a new restaurant In the area and they are opened by Thai owners promising an authentic Thai dining experience. To start, the fried chicken wing hit that perfect balance of being crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and yet not overly greasy. It's also perfectly seasoned. Up next, the Tom yum soup is authentic. It's much more thicker and more flavorful than most Americanized Thai restaurant. It's pretty close to what I had in Bangkok. For the main dishes. The crab fried rice is moist and comes with a generous portion of real crab meat. Delicious. The pad Thai was another highlight. It's not the usual ketchup laden fair you'd find in Thai restaurants around here. The noodles are tangy, flavorful and have the right consistency of being just chewy enough but not undercooked. The meat and eggs are well flavored and peanuts are crunchy and fresh. Definitely one of the better pad Thai I have had in the US. Ask the owners about how they do it in Thailand and they will give you some great advice on how they usually eat the dishes and what sauces they put on the dishes. Just met Ace and Lala ( married couple ) and they just opened the place recently, so you know it's family owned. We ordered some dishes and decided to eat family style. The Spicy Eggplant Was delicious! We added chicken and rice. It's really hard for me to find that right type of eggplant in Asian places so thumbs up for that. I've been to many Thai places and this one is going to be one of my regulars for sure. The crab fried rice is booooooomb.com. Add some fish sauce and chilli for some heat and enjoy. The shrimp Pad Thai was great, although it could have been a little less sweeter, it was kept company with 8 big pieces of . Thai tea in a mason jar with the option of boba is available. Tip of the iceberg: Hot Sake was fantastic. I was expecting it to come in one of those boxes, but they used a specific one in a bottle. I didn't catch which one it was. Note: The appetizer sampler only includes two of each app and is great for couples. The cream cheese Rangoon was different, but so awesome it's hard to describe (a little spice). Newly opened restaurant! Today was their soft opening. A great addition to Poway. You can tell the owners definitely put a lot of thought into the decorations and menu. It's limited seating indoors since it's a small place, but there's plenty of outdoor seating too. I like that it's smaller because it's more intimate and it adds to the authenticity to the restaurant with the kitchen being so close. You can even peak inside the kitchen a bit from the register side :p We tried a variety of foods - there are a few items that you normally don't see at other Thai restaurants. 1. Iron pan chicken wings - try them! They're crispy and super moist with a hint of lemongrass. This serves 6 which is perfect! 2. Crab fried rice - this is probably their best dish. Huge portion and not too oily like other places. You can tell it's real crab :) 3. Pad woonsen - something I've never seen on other Thai restaurant menus and my favorite dish that we ordered. Glass noodles made with egg, onion, and veg. I could've eaten more! 4. Soy ginger fish - not my favorite but pretty good. Decent flavor. 5. Iron pan basket - all sea food. I didn't try it but everyone else liked it. Especially the sauce it came with. 6. Thai tea - really good! Some places just don't make it right but Iron Pan gets two thumbs up from me. 7. I must give credit where credit is due. My first review was three stars due to small portion size and inconsistent spice levels. HOWEVER, these folks have REALLY stepped up their game!!! Horrible! I got take out from here yesterday around 1230 pm and I paid almost $20 for a lunch special and an appetizer. The potstickers were burnt. Like bad.. couldn't get that burnt taste out of my mouth all day.. and the meal.. I got Panang chicken. It comes with a salad and egg roll, When I got back to my office, they didn't wrap the very creamy panang, and it was mixed in with the salad and egg roll. Which was soggy and inedible. I'm not one to complain and Thai food is my absolute favorite food on the planet and never have had bad Thai food and service until now. These guys showed me great service by seating me right away, promptly taking my order, and over all being friendly and attentive. I was in Poway, passing through, and came across this restaurant. I am glad I did. I would definitely go out if my way to come here again. I like how the Thai tea was served in a jar. I order the Crab Fried Rice, which has everything Fried Rice usually does, with crab and eggs. The taste was very satisfying; an excellent combination.
