I didn't realize I had walked into a tourist trap... After waiting several minutes to be acknowledged by three or four young servers, a young man finally sat us at our table... but not before another couple walked right in front of us and demanded a table (the table my group and I had been waiting for). The young man who sat us didn't even care that another group cut right in front of us. As we were waiting to be seated and my boyfriend, cousin and I had looked over one of the menus they had at the hostess stand. When we were seated at our table and handed new menus the prices were more expensive. When we asked why the prices were more expensive on the menu they had at the hostess stand, there was no response, no explanation- just deal with it. I ordered the tortellini, my boyfriend ordered the chicken parm and cousin ordered the lobster ravioli. The tortellini dish and lobster ravioli dish were amazing however, the chicken in the chicken parm was absolutely terrifying. The meat was cooked until it was rubber-like. My cousin asked to have his coca-cola refilled several times and it never happened. We had three servers throughout our meal, not sure where the first or second went? Word of advice - don't eat here. The only thing going here is the great location. My sisters and I ate here while visiting for the weekend. Since it looked busy, we thought it'd be a good place, but we were so wrong! I ordered a side garden salad, poured the dressing over it, and was about to eat it when my sister said there was a hair in it. Having served before, I know these things happen so I courteously asked for a new one. HOWEVER, when the new salad came out, it really seemed like all that was done was the server or whoever took the hair out since it was already dressed. My red flag instantly went up so I asked for a dry salad, knowing I risked more ire from the server but I wasn't about to eat that (I wasn't born yesterday)! If I was going to eat mishandled salad, I was going to enjoy it more without the knowledge because come on - ignorance is bliss. Anyways, we ordered two pizzas and the server didn't put the second pizza in since she heard some other order instead. We then had to wait for that to come after already finishing everything else. We were starving, all right! With two strikes already and no sense of apology for how our orders were mishandled, when we got the check, we still got charged the automatic 18% gratuity (and charged for my side salad) - I understand it may be a policy for parties above a certain number, but seriously? As a business, if you know you didn't fulfill your end of the deal to at least half-way acceptable, how can you be comfortable charging an automatic gratuity?! Bottom line: the food was less than average. The pasta was pasty and mushy, the spaghetti and pizza sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce; the only good thing was the red wine vinaigrette dressing, but even I question if there wasn't anything "special" added to it for my enjoyment LOL. So, eat here if you want low to mediocre service with a side of hair at an exorbitant price for the lack of quality. read more

To start there was no help to seat us at the hostess stand for 10 mins finally we just sat. Service was terrible our waiter wouldn't take our order when we asked. Another 10 mins.. I ordered the lobster pasta my wife ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce, the food came out 5 mins after we ordered it tasted pre frozen and microwaved my pasta had only 5 tiny pieces drowning in cold sauce. My wife's spaghetti had a spoonful of meat sauce and the spaghetti was soggy! Server never came back to check on us and our food had he done it I would have asked him to take it back! Will never go back I don't recommend you do. Would be the same to buy a frozen tv spaghetti dinner from the grocery a block away and eat it outside. Oh one last they say real Parmesan cheese. Service very slow!! Sat outside with my family. Took 15 minutes to get drinks, after waiting ten minutes to order them. All 3 kids ages 4,5,6 fell asleep before our food came. The food was terrific! The garlic cheesy bread was a great appetizer but a little much for 2 people. I had the hot turkey sandwich and my boyfriend had the caprese sandwich. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this cute little restaurant while looking for a place to eat for my birthday. Pasta and bread was exactly what I was looking for and it was delicious. Absolutely amazing! Came here after a long day of work on a weekend. And these people were here working still! That alone couldn't have asked for more... but I was given more believe it or not. I came in sat down and with in a few minutes I got my order in and after 10min if waiting I already had my food! It was quite exquisite far beyond any service I've received from other restaurants. But all that is atoned to my waiter he was quick easy to get along with made me feel right at home and got to know him some more. Turns out he works and goes and plays football! We spent the weekend in Coronado to celebrate my birthday and Island Pasta was right across the street from our hotel. I ordered the scallops with cream sauce, my sister ordered spaghetti and meatballs and a friend ordered the pizza. The food was bland and tasteless. The scallops looked like they had been cut in half and the cream sauce had no flavor. I thought it was just me but none of us liked our meal. With so many other great places on the island we will not be returning to this restaurant and I do not recommend it. read more

If you MUST eat here, definitely stay away from the dark hair one who speaks w/ an accent. She's HORRIBLE. Rude and reluctant to serve. I was in San Diego over the weekend and decided to go to Coronado for some site-seeing. Toured around the streets near the Hotel Del Coronado and was looking for a decent place to eat. We stumbled on the Brigantine Seafood restaurant but it was between lunch and dinner time and the place was crowded so no room. Walked around some more and found Pasta Island. Since we were very hungry, decided to eat at this place which is on the street. It has a patio area. The waitress was very nice and accomodating. I ordered the shrimp scampi, $17.99. Several large prawns served on pasta. Not to flavorable pasta. would like more of a garliky flavor. Had a Ballast Ale which was one of my special finds on this trip. The wife had salmon which was ok and my son had the lobster ravioli in alfredo sauce which was consumed with gusto. The chessy garlic bread was the most flavorable items that I ordered. They are very limited on dessert, only cheesecake and a chocolate mousi type dessert. Not the greatest, but when hungry, do what you have to do. Funny. there is another Italian restaurant right next door which looks promising also. read more

My wife and I settled on this place after walking around looking for a good dinner spot, and we were very glad we did. The wait staff were all very nice and pleasant. We ordered the lobster ravioli and the bbq chicken pizza. The pizza was amazing, super fresh and house made crust. The ravioli's were amazing as well. I read other comments about cold dishes, but both meals were nice and hot. We finished off our meals with their cheesecake which was also so good! (They surprised us with this complementary cheesecake because they heard we were on our honeymoon!) We will come back again! read more

I ordered the Greek salad with no olives and my husband ordered a shrimp salad. Mine still came with olives and they gave him just a normal side salad. They have a great wine selection (not so much for beer) but that doesn't matter..let's talk about the food...THE FOOD! when they'll waiter said to order a sandwhich you cannot go wrong he was not lying! I'm talking home made bread here people..talking about bread and cheese and pasta salad made from scratch cooked to a perfect al dente! Who does not want that amazingness in your life! My review is much like the others. Stopped in for convenience sake, wait staff very courteous and friendly. Food however very mediocre. I had the tomato basil spaghettini it was plenty garlicky and that was about it. I had to shake on Parmesan cheese hot pepper flakes and finally salt to get any flavor. The noodles were soggy, like they were boiled early in the day and left in some warm water. My companions both had the baked rigatoni and said it was okay. A previous review said they have a full bar, not true. Wine and beer only. Everything is ala carte so salad and garlic bread is extra. The entrees do come with a slice of bread. Just moved to Coronado, and we came here twice while our kitchen was in boxes. First time was good- we sat at the bar, and the bartender treated us really well, including our 4 year old. The food was good. So we went back 2 days later. Mistake. First, the server gives the kid his lemonade in a giant adult glass, filled to the brim, and seems surprised when it's an imminent disaster. Then comes the food. How do you screw up spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce in a restaurant with the name "Pasta" right there in the title? I'll tell you: just dump a bottle of black pepper in it. Then serve it to a 4 year old. My husband was so hungry that he hoovered it right down without mentioning how spicy it was until he was done, eyes watering and nose running. When we mentioned it to the server, her response was, "so, we don't like it?" Um, no, WE didn't. Clearly. I got an $18 shrimp pizza with about 6 shrimp. At the end of this delightful meal, they reduced the check slightly (still no apology). We paid in cash, rounding up the tip substantially. When I handed her the money, telling her to keep the change, her response was, "perfect." Not thank you, but "perfect." You're fucking welcome. Not coming back. read more

The pasta was soggy and tasteless, the sauce can best be described as gasoline mixed with tomato paste, and the meatball had the consistency of hardened mortar. Name of the restaurant "island pasta" caught our attention. Craving for italian food, we gladly went into the place and order. Sadly, it was one of the worst pasta restaurant i've been to. I had chicken masalada (i think) and my friends had chicken parmesan, and pasta with vegetables, which i do not remember the name. Mine, chicken masalada, was supposed to have hint of wine, however, it was literally drenched in wine, and tasted very strong. I felt as if I was eating wine stew or something. Pasta wasn't cooked all the way, and had disgusting gooey tasting. For chicken parmesan, chicken was ok, but it wasn't the best, and pasta also wasn't cooked. Pasta dish with the vegetable was too bland and pasta, again, wasn't cooked throughly. After the lunch, we were wondering why it would have named island pasta when pasta was the worst we had in the restaurant. Sorry, but it was not good, and pasta tasted like one of those from cheap fast food restaurant. read more
