The cake tasting was a great experience with Colleen, and my (now) husband and I were excited to have awesome cake on our wedding day. We selected vanilla cake with chocolate ganache and Oreo mousse for two of the layers, and the 3rd layer was strawberry shortcake. Our guests raved about the delicious cake, especially the chocolate ganache and Oreo mousse, and the decorations were exactly like the photo sample that I provided. We got this vendor through our venue, Wedgewood San Clemente. From our initial consultation to the week leading to the wedding, they've been very wonderful to work with. The flavors we chose were chocolate raspberry and vanilla lemon. We were able to have different flavors for the tiers we got. The cake was really delicious! We met with Diane and her daughter Alexandra - both of them are amazing and are very passionate about their work. We added a groom's cake to the 3-tier cake that was included. They made the tire look exactly like a dirtbike tire on a 'dirt/mud' cake. My husband was thrilled and all of our guests that know our hobbies, thought this cake was a perfect fit. We tried lots of different options. After being postponed due to Covid-19, we were finally able to hold our postponed wedding celebration and reception on June 12, 2021. We decided on cupcakes and mini cheesecake desserts for our wedding desserts. They were beautiful and this bakery did a great job providing the desserts for our reception. We went here on a Saturday for cake tasting for our upcoming wedding in 2018. Coleen greeted us and conducted our cake tasting. The cake tasting was great, but the service was very impersonal. We felt that the cake tasting experience could have been better, and could have been done by someone who could have cared a little more. She gave us our cakes to test, and stepped away a couple of times, each time, more than 10 minutes. Note: She wasn't rude or anything, and the designs were all very gorgeous. These guys did our cake and desserts for our wedding recently and did a wonderful job! We were referred to its all about the cake through our venue and we're so glad that we used them! This bakery/cafe is right across from the Dana Point Harbor. Its a cute place to have brunch and have a cake tasting after! We had a very pleasant cake testing months before our wedding and we worked with Colleen to create our masterpiece. We had a 4 tier banana cake with mixed in layers of Chocolate. In between each layer we had some of their heavenly raspberry filling and some of their other delectable selections. The only thing I would caution you is that you don't taste the outside layer of buttercreme at the tasting. On our actual wedding day, the frosting was way too sweet for my liking. But hey, the cake looked beautiful. We received compliments on our cake so perhaps our guests with a sweet tooth enjoyed themselves. We decided to add on mini cupcakes a month before the wedding and the bakery accommodated all of our questions without hesitation. They even gave us a tasting for our mini cupcakes! By the way, they inject their mini cupcakes with an infusion. We did a vanilla cupcake with pineapple cream infusion and chocolate cupcakes with an injection of raspberry and French pastry cream. We never got a taste of these at the wedding so they must have been delicious! Also, what's really cool about this bakery is that they will give you a free top layer of your wedding cake for your 1st anniversary!!! That's going to save me a lot of space in the freezer. Avoid on Sunday's. Avoid when hungry. Overrated. So hipster it hurts. I came here with so much enthusiasm -it was my first time and I had come with my best friends who I hadn't seen in forever. They chose the place and chose to treat me to a late birthday brunch.It was a gorgeous Sunday with a nice ocean breeze. I loved the grounds and landscaping....they had a guy playing guitar...it looked amazing. And then.... Firstly, The hostess "accidentally" crossed our name off the list. So forget being quoted 25 minutes-we waited 45. Then we got what I would call a very 'absent-minded' waiter. We got here at 11 and we're still waiting for food at 12:30. Let me sum up our waiter-although she was courteous.....; Slow service. Waiter replenished everyone's water except mine. Didn't offer any condiments with our meal. Didn't offer a 'to-go' box. Didn't bring or offer to-go silverware when brining my to-go box that I asked for.... .....which led to.... I stood at the counter for 4 minutes while workers and waiters passed by and a host was rolling silverware right in front of me avoiding eye contact and NO one offered me anything or help. Then a food runner walked up to the hostess facing me and they started having a casual non-work related conversation. I had to interrupt them after 3 times of saying "Hey guys.....Hey guys......" all I asked for was a plastic fork for my 'to-go' box and the flamboyant attitude I got back was unbelievable. I've dined all over the world and this place is by far the WORST experience I've had at an eating establishment. I would have been so eager to try the dessert and baked goods but the service had me sick and wanting to be anywhere but there. Pros; -decent parking -Great location -Beautiful relaxing atmosphere -outdoor and indoor seating -dog friendly -nice tables Cons; -slow service -bad service -log waits on Sunday's -super hipster and yet people bring their crying children in -the food is just ok Most importantly, the food was mediocre. NOTHING I would commend or come back for. I didn't get to try the dessert so I can't speak about that but....honestly this place made me wonder why they serve food.....just stick to cakes. So to sum it up 5 minutes of total cake tasting and a half hour of waiting. Needless to say we cancelled our plans to stay for brunch. After we were leaving I heard her say "that was so bad" to one of her colleagues who took a glance over at us when she said it. Not sure what could have been bad about it on our part. We arrived and were friendly greeted by multiple staff and told to take a seat wherever we please, they were somewhat busy and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. With much deliberation of their menu I couldn't find something that I could settle on it all looked yummy. Then, I saw a waitress bring a gentlemen sitting across from me what they call a B-dock sandwich with these little potatoes. I had to have it and in my pictures below you'll see why. I anxiously awaited my sandwich to arrive and couldn't be happier when I bit into it, everything was absolutely wonderful. Everything on their menu was well priced for their location, I was quite surprised to get a bill of just over 30 for the both of us considering I had a mimosa which itself was very well made.
