Went for a dinner with my 83-year-old mother, just to put up with a screaming 6-year-old girl two tables over. This went on for 10 minutes, and management did NOTHING. I finally told the kid to shut up. Her mother then came to our table and, WITHOUT A MASK, screamed at me and my mother for telling her kid to shut up. Again, management did NOTHING, so I guess now I have risked my mother's life by taking her to dinner at Redlands Grill. Dinner was ruined and the whole thing had no management by Redlands. The food was good, but the service sub par. We used Open Table to secure a table. We had to flag down someone walking by just to get our drinks. It took us an hour before we even got our salads which did not even come out at once. In the end, it took us 2 hours to be served everything. When I got home, I had an email from Open Table telling me basically that J. Alexander's reported me as a no show and that I need to be more considerate next time towards the restaurant. This affected my status with Open Table. Overall, the food was good but the service received killed it for me. read more

Excellent meal. Unfortunately my phone was acting up. I didn't get the photos I thought I took. My friend and I enjoyed everything...calamari app, shared salad...trout...crab cakes were meaty (minimal filler), Mac & cheese (shells with gruyere & buttered panko on top). The food was heavily salted but not disturbingly so. Though we were stuffed, we tried the warm, moist carrot cake (no raisins, thank God); extremely rich. I've eaten many meals at J Alexander's at Crosswoods (Redlands Grill) since they opened. It is our standard go-to restaurant for excellent food and exceptional service. My favorite salad is the GRILLED CHICKEN SALAD with Tortilla strips, Feta cheese with a white wine vinaigrette. I am a huge fan of their FILET MIGNON while my husband prefers the STEAK MAUI (a marinated ribeye). A friend of mine thinks their RATTLESNAKE pasta with Southwestern spices, peppers and chicken is the best. World's Very Best Chocolate Cake is delish! read more

I've had several good meals at J. Alexander's, and was not disappointed over the weekend when we went for dinner. I had the mixed grill (filet kabobs) and the veggies were as delicious as the steak! I added a side salad and it was a big portion with a tasty white wine vinaigrette. Boyfriend had the salmon and he was also very pleased. my husband and i have been j, alexanders customers for many years. we stop every sunday after church for an omelet and eat dinner there as often as we can. the food is remarkable and servers are very good with honest suggestions for what we might like to order that evening. service is always very good and managers always walk around restaurant to greet diners.and to see if everything meets their high standards for food and service. last sunday we stopped for our usual omelet and were saddened to learn they were not available that day. andrea, the manager on "duty" stopped by to chat a bit (as she always does) and we told her "nicely " that it didn't feel like sunday as we didn't get our weekly omelet. she asked us to wait before we ordered - went to talk with kitchen help and within a few minutes she personally delivered our omelet to our table. we did not ask her to do this - it's the way she always treats guests and it's obvious that she takes pride in meeting the needs of all. if you happen to stop in on an evening when catelyn is the greeter and eva is tending the bar you will realize why we take our out-of-town visitors for dinner at j. alexanders and they have never been disappointed. try the prime rib, their fish of the day and their deviled eggs. you will become a j. alexanders fan for life. read more

Went here on Mother's Day. It wasn't busy at first for brunch but it did fill up quickly. We were seated quickly and the server was prompt. We all could sense that the server did not want to be there. I can't really explain it other than the way server took our order - like we were a bother to even be there. Our drink order was messed up - I ordered an iced tea but was given water. No, I didn't point it out to the server because I was subconsciously hoping they would realize their mistake. The food was delicious and the other wait staff that brought out the meals were fabulous. Anywhere we drove the rest of the weekend, we kept pointing to restaurants that would have been better (including BW3). The food was overpriced for what you got, and half of our table got meals that didn't even look like that the menu was trying to describe. Our waitress was new and was trying to learn, but her inexperience probably wasn't a good fit for a Saturday night rush. She wasn't caught up on the menu or pricing. Came in looking for a steak dinner. All 4 of us ordered beef. 2 filets and 2 strips. They were excellent!! Prepared to perfection! Only 4 of 5 stars because of the over-whipped mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese. The mac had a strong onion taste in the crunchy top. Would go back for the steak! The wife and I recently stopped in for a quick bite. The house salad is excellent all the ingredients were very fresh. We ordered the Flatbread fennel seed pizza but they ran out. The manager apologized and brought us prime rib sandwiches free. This was shocking.... not only did he not need to apologize but didn't need to comp us free food. The manager here went above and beyond my expectations. We have been going here for years and will continue to do so. Never had a bad experience with service or food. I have been coming to restaurant for 10+ plus years and this was the worst service and food I have ever had. The waitress was polite but rather quick to leave before we could ask questions or for additional drinks. It seemed like she had somewhere else to be . I can forgive that, but the portions of foods have shrunk significantly. Ok I understand, price stays the same or higher less portions. I ordered the steak burger medium well, comes out less then medium. I informed Flash(our waitress) that the burger was undercooked , she had the burger cooked to temperature?!? I start to eat it and still undercooked. Ruined my meal!! When I expressed this to out waitress, all I received a pretty crappy sorry which was very obvious! Started with shared Deviled Egg app. Very tasty but overpriced. Best French Dip sandwich I've ever had, piled high with super tender & flavorful shaved prime rib. The accompanying au jus was not the overly salty bullion that many places use. My side was today's veggie of a variety of carrots sautéed in brown butter with shallots. Delicious and more than enough to share. Hubby had prime rib sandwich and said it was good enough that he didn't mind that he received it rare instead of medium. Our son liked his chicken parm. Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, fantastic service. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. This location exudes more of an upscale vibe, but I've arrived in jeans and a t-shirt without any worry. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Went for dinner on November 14 based on all the positive reviews. First, we had excellent service from an attentive waitress. After that, it was all downhill. I ordered the Steak Rolls, described on the menu as "with Chimichurri sauce and spicy Ranch dressing." The rolls were huge and filled with what appeared to be some sort of unappealing creamed meat filling. The Chimichurri sauce consisted of a small green smear on the plate and the Ranch dressing was not spicy. I didn't eat it and the waitress took it off my bill without my asking. I ordered the shrimp tacos which claimed to feature a Thai sauce. It wasn't particularly spicy nor did I detect much in the way of traditional Thai flavors. Very disappointed. read more

Very disappointing. Salmon dip was mostly boiled eggs, mayo and pickle. "Aged" strip steak was tough and chewy. The coating on the fried shrimp was heavy and still raw next to the overcooked shrimp that still had its entrails intact. Now that should be punishible because the shrimp had endless possibilties, but there it sat; over coated, over cooked, and with its guts. This was my first time to Redlands. Our server Brad was super nice, genuine, and efficient. The service was amazing and our steaks were so delicious. We got the deviled eggs appetizer, which were the best I've had! I got the prime rib and my friend had the NY Strip. I most likely will get the NY Strip next time, the seasoning was amazing. The service was good. The orzo rice had an excessive amount of salt and the food was not upto the standard that I have had at the other J Alexander locations elsewhere. We were a total party of eight and all of us felt the same way for the salt excessiveness issue. We relayed this information to our server Kristy who seemed nonchalant about the concern and asked us if we needed another order or side. I would have expected the manager to come and talk to us about the concern or take down the cost of the $30 entree pp since we really couldn't eat it. So. Redlands Grill aka J Alexanders. A small sized upscale chain and a staple in Worthington area. It's consistently very good to excellent, and has been for the nearly 20 years we've been patrons. I've never had a bad meal here. Portions are generous. Service is always good. And recently they have added a list of featured wines for just a couple of dollars above retail. Came back on a Saturday night and the hostess at the front desk had wicked attitude and acted like she was doing us a favor by taking our names for an hour and a half wait... Returned this weekend for business and went there again twice..3/2019 Our hotel is right near there so it was out of convenience.. Food again was good but there was always something missing or wrong with our food.. We ordered a drink and it came with what we were told was a side car.. it's actually another drink that you pay for but you think you're getting a bargain.. Not the case! $30 for a dirty martini w the side car! Ouch!! I'll know better next time! On the upside the drink was great! Again I would say a good restaurant that needs a little tweaking.. The 4 times we ate there costs us around $500. That's not with a lot of drinks.. maybe 1-2 each visit. The 3 stars is for the whole experience.. I would say 4 for the food. read more
