I called and spoke with a supervisor Drew, the Columbus, OH location manager and expressed to him about my disappointment as far as my dining experience-the night prior. I shared with him that I was charged a second time for something I was not told I was going to be charged for. I ordered a in-house meal and an appetizer- as well as a to-go order. The waitress did not share with me that (even though while she was trying to shove multiple orders of appetizers down our throats....) we would be charged for the refill for the appetizer-as a result. I feel like I spent extra money on something that wasn't worth it. That I was NOT aware OR MADE AWARE that I was going to be charged for a "refill"- something that I actually could get at home. I do know every restaurant is different. But it would have been MORE professional of this young lady who evidently was having a hard time or rough day (but not an excuse) - to have said, "if you order another appetizer / "refill" you're going to be charged for it". "Just so you're aware". At least I would have known what I was getting into. So when you're going to this restaurant MAKE SURE YOU ASK, " are refills free or they have to be paid for? Because I feel like a waitress or waiter should not be continuously asking if you want more food if you did not specify you wanted to order... ACTUALLY order extra food. I'm also disappointed at the manager. I would have thought the manager would have. ATTEMPTED to rectify or resolve the issue- to where I would have been satisfied but, he just took my advice to take to go talk to the staff about making sure they disclosed there's charges on extra things when you order them even if they're shoving them down your throat and you didn't ask for it initially. I don't normally do this. But have you been to J Alexander's lately and ate/drank at the bar? It would appear that all of the regulars have departed. I hadn't been here for a couple of months and not o my has the happy hour menu changed, but so have the bar staff. And not in a good way. Honestly, once you finally get someone to wait on you and you actually get your drinks they are really good. The service is abysmal. I have never interacted with a less interest group of staff or less friendly. It's a shame because this has always been one of my go to restaurants. For lunch, dinner and happy hour. It wasn't the worst experience, but definitely not what we expected for a bill over $120. The bartender was mediocre giving off a meh kind of energy while we waited for our table. We each ordered the steak and fries with a side of the Mac and cheese. We didn't have to wait long for our food to come out nice and hot, but we were surprised to find half the steak was fat and the Mac and cheese had more of a Parmesan taste to it so not the greatest. The waitress was attentive and quick to notice our displeased facial expressions as we cut off huge pieces of fat asking if she could get us something else. We politely declined and she offered a slice of carrot cake to take home since we were there celebrating my birthday. I got the original cheeseburger with fries and it was worth the mayhem of trying to find parking. This location can be particularly hectic on the weekend (along with all of Easton) but overall it was a good experience. We ended up getting lucky and finding a seat at the bar relatively fast to avoid the wait. Once we sat down the bartenders were attentive and kind. The food came out quick, my burger was cooked perfectly medium and I have no complaints. My only suggestion is to utilize the valet on the weekends to avoid the stress of trying to find a parking spot. read more

My fiancé and I celebrated our anniversary here Saturday night. We were seated right away and I loved the modern/aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. We ordered the deviled eggs as a starter. Excellent. Like as good as The Pearl good. We shared the Alex salad and it was good with a light vinaigrette...good but I probably wouldn't order it again. They did not bring us bread with our salad but I asked if they had any and he brought us some deliciously warm sourdough with warm butter (not the frozen kind you can't smear!)-the bread was very good..:but I love a good bread (so worth the carbs!) We actually shared the burger and it was probably one, if not the best burger I've had! The bun was grilled and buttery with a slight crunch and the burger was cooked to perfection. We added pimento for $1.00 more and it just added to the delicious cheesiness of the burger...I would definitely order this again! *it comes with fries but our waiter informed us that we could choose any side...I had read a yelp tip to try the Mac and cheese, so we went with that. The overall experience was very underwhelming. We sat down right away on a Saturday night which was very nice. I asked the waitress to recommend a drink from their menu. She asked what I like and went based on that. Didn't really like the drink but that's on me. Ordered a shrimp app and it was just a plate of small fried shrimp with a couple dips. The flavor wasn't bad but the presentation was bad. It looked like something you would get at a cheap chain restaurant. Then my wife ordered the pork loin and I the prime rib rare. The prime rib was cooked properly but didn't have a lot of flavor. They also got the side dish wrong and then didn't bring the right one until the last two bites of my entire. Then my wife pulled out two objects(possibly bones but I've never seen a tiny bone in pork loin). We notified the waitress and she couldn't identify what it was. Then the manager came over and he couldn't identify what it was either. He offered to have another dish made but at that point it had kind of ruined her appetite. I would have thought they would have removed it from the bill as no one could identify the foreign objects on the plate. By no means were we looking for free food. We have no problem spending good money for good food and good service. The waitress wasn't bad but the overall experience was. I seriously doubt we will ever go back. read more

I used to dine at this J Alexander's location regularly with my parents. It seems that the last few times we've visited the service has declined, with this weekend being the worst we've experienced thus far. Our server was kind but that may be the extent of the positive experience we had for dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night yet the service was extremely slow. 15 minutes after ordering our appetizers we were informed that they were out of stock. The salads were soggy and the lettuce had seen better days. The overall most disappointing part was that management didn't seem to care that our table was unhappy. Used to be a great restaurant but with the recent increase in prices and decline in service that no longer holds true. Luckily there are many other great options in the area! read more

Thought we'd take out of town guests to J Alexander Easton in a couple weeks so wanted to check it out. internet said they had happy hour, but alas, no happy hour so $8/beer and $12/wine. decided to stick it out at the bar w our drinks and order an appetizer but no one would look at us....8 people at the bar and empty restaurant at 5 pm on Friday. Couple dozen folks standing around by kitchen chatting and not visibly doing much. After third time trying to flag down bartender who would not look at us to say one moment please, we said enough. $$ better spent elsewhere. Canceling reservation and taking guests somewhere else. Won't return. If you can't get 5:00 happy hour right it affected our decision for future reservatio. read more

I opted for J Alexander's when one of my friends wanted to take me out to celebrate my birthday (it wasn't my actual bday, but that's what we were celebrating). I had been to the other J Alexander's in Columbus and remember enjoying my experience but since over 5 years had passed, I wanted to give their new Easton location a try! We got there at 545p on a Friday night and the parking situation was no joke! We both had to park at Whole Foods and even to just find a spot over there is a struggle! They do offer valet parking, so that would have been our last resort (our hostess told us it was complementary, but since I didn't have cash to tip, I would have preferred not to use that). Either way, we made it in and although it was very busy, we got seated right away in a nice spacious booth. Our server came by quickly and she was so personable. We loved her! We chatted with her for a minute before both ordering a glass of Cab. The ambiance here is perfect. It's a darker lit environment, and makes you feel like you're the only table in there. It doesn't get noisy like other restaurants. It also feels elevated, but honestly I feel like the price point here is no different from Cheesecake Factory. We talked for a long time just enjoying the environment and the company and then finally started looking at the menu. When our server came back we asked her what their top menu items were and she referenced the Prime Rib and the Filet. We both opted for the Prime Rib. I ordered fries with mine instead of the mashed potatoes they normally come with. We also both got a side garden salad. The salad came out first and was very good. I honestly was so in depth in conversation that I was just chowing down and chatting! Before I knew it, our food came out. We both loved the prime rib with warm au jus. They give you a ton of au jus here which is nice! I also enjoyed my flavorful shoestring fries. I love the truffle/garlic seasoning they put on those! I would say the fries were probably my favorite part of the meal! Soon after, the GM (or at least I feel like he was the GM) came out to get our plates. He was very friendly and was asking my friend about her children, etc. We then asked for a dessert menu since we both have a sweet tooth! Although they don't have a dessert menu per se, they have varying options there that your server tells you about. We had three options: Key Lime Pie, Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cake. We opted to share two: the Key Lime and Carrot Cake. We were both blown away by how good these desserts were!!! Now let me tell you I went to Key West last year and made it a point to try as much Key Lime Pie as possible and J Alexander's is pretty dang close in comparison to my fave Key Lime Pie I tested in Key West. Very light and refreshing! I loved the whipped cream on top and the graham cracker crumble crust! But what really impressed me was the carrot cake! I don't even like carrot cake! But this came with a DELICIOUS warm drizzle coating of cream cheese! It tasted more like a cinnamon bun than carrot cake. I HIGHLY recommend this dessert and will be sure to get it next time I am back! Overall, excellent, personable service, delectable food and an enjoyable atmosphere make this one of my new favorite go-tos at Easton. So glad we went here and can't wait to be back! read more

Dinner was a pecan-encrusted trout, extremely thin and with skin on, not much left there for $34. The cole slaw was excellent as was the side starch. It continues to baffle me why ribs are not available at this location, but are in Worthington! That is my favorite plate at this chain. The service by Gilbert was superb. He must have returned to the table a dozen times as my dinner partner was delayed because of a highway accident. He was very attentive and engaging and made the wait time very pleasant. The ambiance is always good at the Easton option. The patio was a preference, but was full by 5 PM and less inviting with the smoke in the air. read more

I was in the service industry a long time, I understand having off days and busy nights. I understand being overwhelmed or frustrated at work but you never let it show to a customer and if you are management, you especially make sure everything is right. This was very, very disappointing. Unfortunately I chose to spend my 30th birthday dinner here and was highly let down. We arrived right at 5pm, sat in the bar area at a booth for happy hour, and seemed as though we came at a great time because it was not busy. The hostess who sat us was friendly, the waitress seemed very timid and did not introduce herself, ask us how we were doing, before saying "what can I get you to drink" without even looking at us, she seemed very annoyed to be there as if we were putting her out by her serving us. We ordered to cocktails off of the happy hour menu, and 2 sushi rolls at 5:05 pm. It took 25 minutes to get our drinks and we watched the bartenders on their phones and talking to one another moving very slowly as the wait staff continued to come back and forth to the bar asking for their tables drinks. After getting our drinks which were brought to us by a different server, we asked about our sushi and they said it would be right out. Another 25 minutes pass and we get our sushi rolls... 50 minutes for 2 sushi rolls. Meanwhile we had to flag our waitress down to ask for water and to order entrees. I got the special which was the steak medallions, medium rare. They came out rather quickly which I was happy about considering how long we'd sat and waited for everything else, only to find the steak was very overdone and once again, our waitress did not ask how we were or how the food was. Finally I stopped another server in the bar area and asked if they had a manager I could speak with, he said yes hold on. And I saw him walk over to a taller blonde woman and speak to her. I waited about 10 minutes thinking whoever he spoke to would be over at some point and never once did anyone come to our table to talk to us. Our server took the plates, trying to reach out one more time to management- I said the steak was overdone so I did not want anymore of it and she took my plate with my meal on it. Setting down our check at the same time. 78$ spent on poor food, bad service and even worse management techniques. There are a lot of places to eat in Columbus and I chose this one to spend my birthday evening at because I had been a fan for a long time. Order via their site (69994194) which you can't add comments to help customize your order (i.e. hold the bun or extra salad dressing) so that's a little disappointing. The worse part of the meal was the bone dry rotisserie chicken and the asparagus which was both squishy and char-burnt nor chargrilled as it was supposed to be served. Even the baked potato was over cooked, starting to burn, and was dry. We saved the salad and sushi for later this even. The only saving grace was the broccoli was awesome. Overall disappointing. Upon calling they did offer to replace it, but this was our "treat meal" since we're been working all weekend we had no desire to go back out to get replacement meals. Great date night spot for my wife and I! I find this to be the happy medium between Ocean Club and Outback (and yes, I mean that as a true compliment!). The atmosphere and aesthetics are very warm with dimmer lighting. It's like walking into a fancy bar only with football playing on the handful of TVs. There are a wide array of drink choices ranging from $8 to name your price. My wife loves the Foley Johnson blend and I was quite pleased with Angel's Envy Old Fashioned they featured. Both drinks turned out quite good. The food is right in the happy medium for choices as well. Courses range from fresh Sushi rolls and sandwiches to fresh fish and Filet Mignon. We ordered the Rainbow Roll, Fish Tacos w/fresh pico, and NYO Mac N Cheese. Everything was top of the line...but the NYO Mac....that NYO Mac was heavenly. Heavy, creamy and not your ordinary mac n cheese :) Highly recommended. We decided to extend our meal because we were having such great conversation and ordered a nice brew of french press coffee ($6). Such a good move. All this was happening while we were having exceptional service from our waitress, Courtanny (sp?). She was truly a delight and so sweet with every engagement. When we first sat down to order drinks, my wife wanted me to try the FJ wine. Courtanny came back and forth to make sure we ordered what we wanted and we were completely satisfied. To one point, she opened a new bottle of wine to make sure we liked the taste before we bought an entire bottle. All in all, I could see my wife and I returning. They looked very professional & greeted me very nicely as soon as I walked in. That's very huge for me. I was meeting an old friend who randomly called me the same day so I wasn't really hungry when I got there. I did order the steak rolls which were delicious. The spicy ranch dressing was a nice touch for sure. The service I had from my waiter wasn't the best on this particular night but I can tell that they a lot on their mind. They kept disappearing for long periods of time & drinks would take forever to be made as well. However, I've been here enough times to know that this is not a norm for this restaurant. Where do I start, well for starters, it started off pretty badly. We received a sever by the name of Ashley, who indeed was not highly qualified for this position. She spilled water on my wife, which was pure intentionality. She then proceeded to walk away without apologizing, which is why I'm convinced that it was no accident. On top of that, we sat and waited for 20 minutes for our food, and when she eventually came back to our table, she informed us that she forgot to put our order in. At this point, I've had enough I requested a new server. This makes me think that the company doesn't care about one the workers second the patrons. Yes we could have left but at 7 months pregnant I was starving. Garbage steak. I took my parents and niece out here to celebrate my new job. The prime rib my mom had was good. The burger my dad had was good. My niece's grilled cheese was good. My steak was trash. It started with the hostess not including a beer and liquor menu when we were seated...honestly I didn't even know they had a full bar all we got was an overpriced wine menu. Thankfully Eric told us about the options but then bar screwed up our order for two lemon drop martinis and we didn't get them for thirty minutes. The kitchen needs to keep the smoked salmon dip much colder than room temperature. My crab cakes were pretty good and I can honestly say I'd order them again. When we got there, the place was almost empty. It was the running joke how thankful we were they could squeeze us in all night when the place was literally dead. The waitress wasn't very friendly, the drinks were awful (I had the lemon martini and I couldn't even drink it. It tasted like dirty water.) I had the pleasure of dining here for a work dinner. The food and service were on point. We had the spicy tuna sushi, smoked salmon spread, and the steak rolls as our appetizers. All were delicious and the presentation was very nice. Several in our party had the prime rib. It looked amazing. I had the steak and fries. My dinner was fantastic and cooked to perfection. We had a horrible experience at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse at Easton Town Center. We proceeded to literally walk across the parking lot to J. Alexander's Restaurant and explained to them what just occurred and asked if they could accommodate us. There is simply no comparison in the service we received from them. I loosely use the word "service" with BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, because there was none. However, the GM and staff at J. Alexander's were so kind, respectful and immediately opened up an area that was closed off, to serve my family. The food was also delicious! J. Alexander's exuded the professionalism expected when an individual chooses to dine out and spend their money, especially in these current times of inflation. The staff at J.
