I'll start with the good: -the bar area is huge and very cool, with comfy bar stools. definitely a great place to come have a glass of wine after some shopping. -the servers were very attentive and nice, the manager that was on duty was very nice, as well. On to the not good: -we went for a lunch with a vendor and made reservations for 10. when we arrived, we were seated at one large round table for 6, and a square table for 4 next to it., rather than putting tables together so that we could eat together. Next, we were given 2 different servers, rather than one. Not only could we not interact with our entire group, we didn't even get food served at the same time. It was almost as if we weren't really together. -this is a chain, yet the menu was different than the other location in Cbus. Fine, not that huge of a deal. Unless of course, everything we ask about, you are out of. How are you completely out of Ahi Tuna Salad, Ahi Tuna Burger and Ahi Tuna Steak? Again, you are a chain, you should have this figured out by now! I've been going to J Alexanders since the early 1990"s and I've never had such a poor experience at any of their locations, until now. I can't comment on the food, but the customer service is awful. We made a reservation for 8 people around 3 weeks before our event. When we called to confirm a few days ahead, we were told that they would not accommodate our group by moving two tables together. They offered us two separate tables of four, but the manager refused to put two tables together so we could all sit together. I've been to J. Alexander's in Toledo and Cincinnati and was always pleased. However, to find out 3 days before our dinner party that 8 people can't be seated at the same table is unacceptable. We were lucky to find another very nice restaurant in the area that was able and willing to accommodate our extremely large group of eight adults. read more

Wow, this J. Alexander's location is a painful one in their chain. The atmosphere doesn't feel like J. Alexander with their generic seating. Deviled Eggs: Yikes, these were served out of the refrigerator if I had to take a guess. Is there a bacon shortage that I'm not aware of? My deviled eggs had thinly cut bacon but was short 25-35% of the normal bacon portion at their Worthington location. Plus, the bacon was cold and hard to chew. The glaze was also non-existent. Prime Rib - thank goodness they got this reasonably right. The meat was tender and easy to cut, slightly dry and au jus became my sauce to saturate my meat. Bar is in the middle of the restaurant but just off the hostess stand. However, with the loud conversations, sports overhead, it took away from the classiness. In conclusion, J Alexander is a great restaurant but this can't even measure to being a flagship location in Easton. read more

If your willing to spend this kind of money, you might want to consider stepping up your lunch or dinner game plan and venture out to a more upscale or specialty Resturant in the Columbus area. PLEASE don't consider this a knock against J Alexander's, the service was good and most dishes are great but in my opinion the food does not match the pricing. Do I really need to ask management for permission to combine 3 tables to accommodate a large party of 10 ? Do I really need to ask for a straw ? , or do I need to ask for a bag to put my left overs in to take home at these prices ? Absolutely Not. I was out disc golfing with a friend and we were in the mood for some high end food. Being the day after Xmas and around 6pm, and being in the Easton area, we decided to try the new J's. I was quite surprised how busy this place was, no wait, hold that thought... Day after Xmas, people still shopping like mad, new restaurant.... yeah, it was going to be busy no matter what so.... They actually were able to seat us immediately, extra Kudos to them, after telling them we made no reservations (they did recommend making them next time). Our waitress seemed very well trained, but also quite new to the job. She was trying her best and doing a damn good job at it. Very polite and professional, we also had a few other staff stop by occasionally to make sure everything was good and okay without being intrusive. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Filet, served rare with a mega baked potato. The Tuna was incredible. There was some type of Aioli and some Toro sauce to go with it. The combination of all of these together was an explosion of about 8 different flavors that complimented each other. So wonderful and very delicious. My buddy ordered the Pork tenderloin, it was so good, he almost ordered a second order to take home, but ended up filling himself with some Crème brûlée instead. Average at best. Food was bland and lukewarm when arriving to the table. My entree came on three different plates as if a side dish was forgotten during original plating. Waiter was less energetic and attentive. I requested hot water, he served it to me in a water class. I had to request a mug and a refill as he never inquired if I needed one after refilling my husband's water glass three times. I have heard many great reviews, however, my experience was not so great. Not inclined to return or recommend. Well, even though I love their cocktails (a little pricey), I'm still on the fence when it comes to their food. I recently got the Rattlesnake Tagliatelle (no, it doesn't have rattlesnake in it, but chicken) and for $16 I feel very, VERY cheated. Very bland and flat with little meat. Now that they offer sushi, we tried the Mike's Filet Roll, which was rather odd tasting. Basically a surimi roll with cooked beef tenderloin on top. Why. Rather, why did we think it would be good. Ever eat Steak-Ums, that frozen meat you can buy at the grocery? That's the texture and flavor it reminded me of. That was another regretful $16. The hostess greeted us with, "How many tonight?" And that was the high point. The restaurant is beautiful, but it's painfully loud. We sat on the same side of the booth, which made conversation possible. I'm not sure what we would've done if we'd been a party of four. My wife's bottle of red wine came to the table ice cold and already uncorked. The food runners put food down in front of the wrong person. Twice. The grilled artichoke hearts were basically inedible. Ok so when you come to a place such as J. Alexanders you kinda expect a certain level of quality & taste. I asked for medium rare prime rib and mine was hard and was like cutting into toast, not to mention super salty. The mash potatoes tasted like the generic box kind. I'm really saddened by this because I church this place up to my friends before going. Even though this is my 1st time here and all, the service is ok, I've had better at the Cracker Barrel. This place is so nice on the inside, I just don't understand why the quality of food doesn't meet the price / expectation ratio. For example, if a prime rib cost $28 it better taste like one. Not like a $7 one. I feel like I'm harsh on the 2 star rating. If I started with 5, the food knocked it down by two, the service and the fact my friend was here on her Birthday, I knocked it down one. Sorry J. Food was great but our waitress was very u knowledgable of many of the menu items. I feel that she didn't have proper training to advise us of sauce consistencies, wines, and even cooking preparations. The atmosphere was very nice and overall experience was pleasant. The cost of the food does seem a bit pricey for quantity we received, a French dip sandwich with fries for $18 seems overpriced to me. In general I do enjoy what this restaurant has to offer but I feel that the worthington location definitely has it much more together. The staff was unable to tell us of a single item they could make gluten free, which is hard to believe nowadays. I think they need some work on staff training, and to the menu prices and offerings. We will be returning but will give them some time to get things together since the location is relatively new. read more

I love crabcakes! When talking to a friend about loving crabcakes, it was reccomeded that I try them from J. Alexander. I had been many times before but I never got the crabcakes. I went for lunch while at work and was not disappointed. Big cakes with huge lump crab in it. I asked for my sauce to be on the side, as I am not big on a lot of condiments and it came on the plate anyway. It wasn't nasty, but too much for my taste, especially when I asked for it on the side. With their service, however there have been a couple of times a today where work demands require me to carry out. Today was one of those days, while it is mid day between lunch and dinner and it was slow. I sat at the bar and watched my food sitting on the bar waiting to be bagged up . Instead my server is cleaning and talking to co-workers and never picked my food up. I had to ask for my food please. Well the other server was going to bag my food. We have been regulars to the Happy hour here (Easton Location). It was always great! Good menu, good wine, service okay. Last time we went, it was less than okay. Food menu is awful. Nothing that you can share. Menu options, have been cut in half, and they shortened the happy hour to 4 to 6 (use to be till 7). They wouldn't put a high chair with a booth so we were stuck with a booster for the wiggly toddler. Not ideal. Not sure why they wouldn't pair a high chair with the booth -- there was plenty of aisle space. Food took a long time to come out. A savior stopped by and offered to bring some fries for the little one which also took a while and ended up coming out when the rest of the food did, but the gesture was much appreciated. Food was good, if not top-notch like Crosswoods but I'm sure they're just finding their groove, I expect this to improve. Service was good if not a little intrusive. I've only visited this place once and that was for lunch. I fond it to be a striking place from a architectural standpoint. It's a very modern and striking building. I was immediately impressed with the layout and the dining options that were available. I ordered a simple club sandwich that was served with shoestring fries that was aesthetically pleasing. We've eaten at this restaurant in Worthington several times and found the service excellent. The barkeep at Easton acted like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us when she finally decided to do it. I had to ask to bus our seats, I had to ask where our order was (which was 20 min. when there was hardly anyone in the place) and finally she never asked us how our order was when we were finally served. At best, we were an inconvenience to her. I felt like I was doing her job and she just presupposed I would accept the lackadaisical effort she put forth...not going back to spend $60 and get $2 service! read more

Everything we had was perfect. I'm not usually impressed with chain steakhouses, and maybe we just happened to come on the perfect night and make the perfect choices, but we were blown away. We started with the steak rolls (A+) the Alex salad which was great, then moved onto the NY strip with the "not your average Mac & cheese" (life changing), and the filet mignon with the summer corn and zucchini succotash. My lady and I went about a week ago and I have to say I was impressed with the location. Very clean, the lighting was just right and vibe of the crowd was good with good music! I had the New York Strip with NYO mac and cheese and damn it was good. The steak was easy to cut into and the taste was one not to forget. The mac and cheese was out of this world. We also had their salads which we ordered the Caesar and the Alex's salad. They portion of the salads were good and not overbearing. Desert, we had Crème Brulee was flat out was great. Drinks, we had two glasses of wine each and just as a suggestion (we didn't think about this when we ordered), depending on how many glasses each you might get, look at the prices because it would almost be a little bit cheaper to order the bottle of that wine. I've visited this restaurant a couple of times at this new location and have had similar experiences. More recently I went on a Friday night. It was not busy (i.e., there were empty tables), but the wait staff seemed to have difficulty with our orders. Our primary server failed to put lemon in the water as requested and did not take down an entree order correctly. The other servers kept bringing us dishes that we had not ordered. The food was mediocre, especially for the price. The waitress claimed that the filet mignon was dry aged, but it didn't have the depth of flavor of dry aged beef. Arrived at approximately 7:30 on a Tuesday night. Our party of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) were seated promptly. There were many open seats so we were at least glad they were able to seat us quickly. That was the highlight of the trip though. Food and drink orders were inexplicably slow to come out (over 30 minutes despite being uncrowded). Our server basically whispered which made it impossible to hear! Our orders were messed up twice including soup that never came despite having been charged (they did take off the bill). The Ahi filet was flavorless. The steak eggrolls were mushy and oddly gummy. Steak kabobs tasted like something you'd reheat from the freezer aisle. We were all starving by the time our food finally came so we did eat it but everything was so salty! Ate at another J.Alexader's a few years ago and remember a positive experience but now feel bad for recommending it to my party. Price does not justify experience. We are not picky at all, eat out several times a month both with and without our children and have not been this disappointed in YEARS. AVOID!!! First time visiting the Redlands and it was fantastic. Very classy, plenty of smiling and friendly people working and actually working together. Extremely clean and the food was delicious. I'd highly recommend the filet with a bit of Cajun seasoning. Perfectly cooked and prepared. Katrina was our waitress and she did a great job making sure we never ran low on anything. This used to be my favorite restaurant chain. It used to have consistently delicious food and fan favorites like the honey drizzled croissants and special lemonade (when in season). Now they have revamped the menu to not only eliminate those two awesome items but also removed yummy options like the gulf shrimp (replaced with fried shrimp? Really???). This restaurant has a nice atmosphere with regard to seating and ambiance. The temperature was quite cold. A couple of my dining companions complained during our meal. I love that we were almost immediately seated with a reservation. Big plus. I understand that they were busy, but restaurants should expect to be busy at dinner time on Sunday. Sometimes the service took too long and we had to ask twice for a couple of items. Overall though, everyone seemed really dedicated to pleasing customers and offering a good dining experience. I found the menu lacking a little for my tastes. I don't eat much meat, so that is a personal thing and in no way affects my review. I enjoyed the crab cakes. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly and the presentation was very nice. I wish that the side wasn't fries, but they still tasted good. I also enjoyed the Alexander's Salad with it which was delicious and fresh. They have an amazing Carrot Cake that I couldn't help forking into from across the table. First off, let me start by saying the food was good. The Cappiccunio was perfect and a great end to a.. Painful dinner. However, if you have food sensitivities like me, I wouldn't advise going here. They cook the vegetables and veggie burgers on the same grill as the meat and the fish toco's aggravated my IBS - I didn't even think that they would be fried up to high heavens. My friend I went with wants me to specify that the prices are "outrageous"! The Prime Rib was $38.00, and my 3 fish toco's small, no side dishes included was $16.00. If you are looking for a nice date night, don't have food sensitivities that they cant accommodate for and don't care about spending over $50.00 this is the place for you. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city as it is a classy/casual dining experience with a variety of dishes in the mid-teens to low 20 dollar ranges (Definitely dishes $25 and up). The food and drinks are always consistent which is important so I'm never disappointed when I have a craving for something off the menu. Their Mojito's are one of the best around and they serve them year round! If deviled eggs are your thing - get them! They're great and topped with candied bacon! The Prime Rib is a favorite and the Rattlesnake pasta is a classic favorite when they offer it. I NEVER leave without a slice of their gigantic carrot cake in hand. read more

So many celebrations were spent there: birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, date nights etc. I have ordered the same meal for 20 years, yes I'm one of those people. I have not been to the restaurant in prob 9 months or more due to COVID. I was extremely excited to get out and have my favorite meal...only to find out it was taken off the menu along with some other family favorites (country club, rattlesnake pasta, honey croissants). The club sandwich is a staple at almost every restaurant so it's surprising it is no longer offered. The burger I ordered was just ok and cost $16.
