Nice place with a cozy atmosphere. They have a smaller menu, but it has a little something for everyone. The food is on the pricier side, but it matches the classy atmosphere. I tried the steak burger with the onions, which was cooked to perfection, although lacking in the onion department. My mother in law loved her prime rib, and it was cooked exactly how she liked it. The ribs were also tasty, and my husband is a huge lover of ribs. He said they were comparable to others he's had. We skipped dessert because we were so full by the end. If it wasn't for Mother's Day, I wouldn't have gone back to this restaurant. It's funny because we had the same waiter, Jason, as our previous time. My sister in law was asking about drinks and if they carried certain liquors. Jason said no to a few of them but then commented "we have a well stocked bar" clearly that's not the case if you don't have the ones requested. Our table had ordered prime rib, steak maui, and I ordered a well done steak burger since I can't have any uncooked meat. Unfortunately, my burger came out almost medium rare and the smashed potatoes were beyond salty and peppery. Couldn't even finish it. Explained it to Jason and he did apologize but nothing was really done on his part besides taking the burger back to be cooked longer. Also the burger was pretty bland. Really more like 3.5 stars, and let's talk about why. The hostesses are absolutely rude. How off-putting is it to enter an establishment and encounter two individuals with a bad attitude. We walked in at 5:10 on a Tuesday night to a mostly empty restaurant. The two hostesses looked up at me and my husband. No words, just looked into my eyes... awkward. I said "hey good evening" and one said "how many?". When I told her it was the two of us, she informed me it would be 45-55 minutes. Right adjacent to the hostess area is the bar, with plenty of open high-tops. I asked about those tables, and she said "oh, those are first come first serve". I thought it was very strange she wouldn't offer or mention that when she told us it would be such a long wait. Not a great opener thanks to this interaction. We sat immediately at one of the many empty high-tops, and were taken care of by the red-haired bartender... I believe her name was Jenna! She is wonderful, efficient, and very welcoming! She took our cocktail orders and made some great drinks! I had the Red Headed Rita which is tequila and pomegranate juice served in a martini style. My husband had an old fashioned. We enjoyed artichokes for an appetizer. I love that they still bring hot towels for afterwards! Mains included a french dip for my husband served with French fries, and I had the Cypress Salad. This is one of my favorite salads, and it's definitely one of the naughtiest! Fried chicken tenders, cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce/cabbage/carrots/cuke/tomato, and let's not forget the fried cornbread croutons! Served with Ranch (on the side as requested)- it's just decadent and yummy! Service from the whole bar staff was super friendly and attentive. Food was fresh, and the establishment was clean... Went here for the first time last week to celebrate a friend's birthday. Can't believe I've lived in this area for so long without knowing about it! We went for lunch. The server was very friendly and always nearby when you needed him. I had the cilantro shrimp dish and it was excellent! Everyone was happy with what they ordered. For dessert we got a piece of chocolate cake to share and it was huge! And came with vanilla ice cream. We had each taken a big portion of the cake but we still couldn't finish it. I have always enjoyed J Alexanders until today. They have some of the best baby back ribs and French dip. Today I was looking forward to a French dip. After ordering the sandwich and my husband ordering the ribs I was told they were out of French dip. So I thought I would try the special Cuban sandwich. It was pretty bad. The bread was dry, the cheese not melted and the ham looked like it had just come from Publix. I was hungry so ate some of it. I should have sent it back. My husband loved his baby back ribs but did not finish his side of mac and cheese. We asked to take it home. The server cleared the table of all utensils and left the Mac and cheese and brought a container for the left over. Usually the server has packed the left overs and returned them to the table. After asking for a fork or spoon I was able to put it in the dish. The service is usually great and I have always loved the food. Not today. read more

J Alexander's on PGA is one of my got to spots around here. I've lived here for 15 years and they are always consistent with food and service. Last night I had the salmon (again) and it sounds so plain but it's sooooo delicious! The wood planks add an amazing flavor and char. Cesar salads there are amazing served on cold plates. J. Alexander's is a comfortable spot with a local feel. Their menu is the same, no matter where you dine. We tried a couple of new dishes (over the years, the New York Strip Steak and the Cheeseburger have been my "go to dishes). The ribs were "fall off the bone" tender, the barbecue sauce flavorful, but not too sharp. The fried chicken platter was really a plate of chicken tenders. The breading was tasty and crisp. Both dishes were served with an excellent southern slaw and shoestring potatoes. We started with drinks (an excellent old fashioned and a traditional - gin - martini) which we enjoyed with their spinach queso dip. A nice place for dinner and drinks. A step or two up from the usual fare. The food is always good and the portions are large enough to satisfy your eyes and stomach. Save room though. The dessert menu is wonderful. My favorite dessert to share is the carrot cake with warm frosting. It is delicious and a real treat as it is served warm with a molten-like frosting. I did not give full stars due to my last visit. One of our family has severe reactions to citrus. A vodka drink was ordered and the drink was made with a citrus-based vodka. Within moments the reaction began. When questioned there was denials of the wrong vodka until the manager investigated and indicated that the bartender likely grabbed the wrong bottle. I get that it gets busy but you do have to be careful with allergies and severe reactions to things. I've been here several times and I always sit at the bar. I find it a great spot for a meal, not to mention a drink. My favorite appetizer is the delicious artichoke with an aioli dipping sauce. It's full of flavor and can easily be shared. I likethe Caesar salad. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's decent and I'm thrilled that they loaded on the anchovies when I requested them. A number of restaurants will say they don't have anchovies, despite serving Caesar. The mac and cheese is really good, but I prefer the one in Boca Raton to the one at this location. They are similar, but I wasn't as blown away by the one here. I do love that you can get it as a side dish (or eat it with a salad for your meal) for $8. On my last visit, my healthy friend ordered the salmon and said it was delicious. I'm always a fan of the French Dip, especially with the horseradish sauce. If I'm watching my carbs, I'll just dip the roast beef in the sauce and eat it that way. In my review of the Boca location, I raved about the carrot cake. I've yet to have it at the Garden's J.Alexanders, but the chain is known for the carrot cake. It's amazing. Served warm. read more

Let's talk burger first, cooked perfect, bun good,but burger was maybe over seasoned or too much salt? Other than that I would order again, why not? Nashville chicken had a nice crunchy kick to it. Texture good, moisture good, flavor good, and would order again. The bun was not so good on this sandwich. Did not eat. Fries?! Man, do yourself a favor and get the fries from this place because they are downright good! What a frie! The Mac and cheese is the BEST Mac and cheese I have ever had at a restaurant! I give that a 10/10! The chicken tenders were good but it's chicken tenders so there's not much to say about it lol. This was my first time at this location and I can't remember the last time I ate at one of the restaurants. The staff was extremely friendly and we were seated quickly even though the restaurant was busy for a Tuesday evening. Our table ordered the deviled eggs. I must admit, I really had no intention of trying these but I'm so glad that I did. They were incredible. Just the right amount of kick and the candied bacon on top was a nice crunch and surprise. Everyone at our table ordered the special burger and I was so excited for this to come. I ordered mine with no bun and added a stuffed potato as my side. I was disappointed in my burger. It was cooked medium rare but it wasn't hot and my potato was so cool the butter didn't melt. I didn't want to complain as I was on a work trip so I just ate a little of both the potato and the burger and enjoyed the atmosphere and the company. If I return for a future business trip, I will stay away from the burger and maybe just have deviled eggs and salad. read more

The ambience here is very nice as the bar is up front and separated from the dining room. We relaxed with a bottle of Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon. My boyfriend ordered the 1/2 roast chicken which he usually loves but this one was dry and not as flavorful. My prime rib was perfectly seasoned, rare and delicious as usual as were the string beans. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! We go here all the time since the food is always constantly good, staff is always friendly and efficient! They have a good selection of food. I love their Thai Kai salad, it's delicious but portion is huge! Alex salad is a good app salad to start with. For main my go to is the ribs! It's just delicious, always have the fries and the orzo salad on the sides! Sometimes I would get the burger, chicken is good too. For dessert I would recommend the carrot cake!
