It may cost you a little more than the coupon-wielding chain restaurants, but it is absolutely worth it. The crust alone is worth the price of admission! And the honey for crust dipping; genius! I love the wings! The secret sauce is just the right amount of sweet and spicy. Finger-licking good for sure! I'm from the Bay Area and a trip to Reno always includes a visit to JJ's. Apparently a Reno institution. Been around forever. Located in a non-descript concrete building on 5th Street... right next to Don's Pharmacy. First time I went, I wasn't that impressed with the pizza. But didn't hate it, so went back again with someone else and the pizza was very good. Like many gourmet restaurants, it all depends on who's in the kitchen. A bit on the pub"ish" style, long dark bar with TVs in the front room, picnic tables in the back room. Decorated with old posters, colorful tins, etc. So, yes, OK to bring the kids to the back room (although there are a few tables in the bar area as well). This is right behind my house, so I would just walk there or take those lime bikes around. I have heard so many good things about this joint from friends and family, so I decided to try it out. It is pretty small. The environment is nice with a few arcade machines. I wish there would be more to the games and menu provided. The staff was accommodating and food was good. The bar area is pretty comfortable with a variety of drinks. The pizza here is delicious, none of that cheap cardboard box pizzas. A local recommended JJs for a drink and it did not disappoint. Food: we ordered a medium sausage and mushroom pizza. It was served with ranch and honey sauces without being asked. Ranch for the cheesy part of the pizza and honey for the crust in order to have something sweet. Pizza is cheesy and the crust is soft on top but crunchy on the bottom. My fave. This is the best pizza I've had in Reno thus far. I had an IPA on tap and my cousin had a bottled beer. Both were served in chilled glasses so they were nice and cold. People had chicken wings, fries and subs. Will definitely come back to try other foods. Price: reasonable prices given quality of food. $15.99 for a medium pizza with 2 toppings. It's a good size for 2 adults. Customer service: you really help yourself here. You place an order at the bar and they call you when your food is ready. No table service but the staff is friendly. We were there during a retirement party and a server offered everyone cake which was really nice. Made the vibe warm and friendly. Location: this is a family restaurant so bring the kids. Don't let the bar at the entrance fool you. it has a parking lot which can get full but there's ample parking. It's located on the edge of downtown so you're within walking distance from the casinos and relatively close to the freeway. Overall I highly recommend. Excellent food at great prices! read more

Okay, my first review. I know y'all will consider it a grain of salt. That's fine. So, you need the back story. I am not a pizza lover (the red sauce kills me!) but gosh I would love to find a place that would understand I am NOT traditional (go above and beyond and make your customers happy)!! I don't need GrubHub or UberEats. I can cook or pick up my food. But it meant something today. I went out on a limb and did my best to get my friend some pizza. PIZZA!!! Pizza lovers will understand!! I signed up for UberEats. Ordered from JJ's Pie Company because I heard their pizza was exceptional and they were close to the hospital. Ordered the "special" thinking sweet, he'll love it!! Again, I went above and beyond to do something special for someone I care about. He gets the pizza and says, "It's great but there's no cheese." WTF? Who makes pizza without cheese? Anyway, he appreciated it but I think he got screwed... just my opinion. So I called. Manager said he made it himself and there was cheese. Why would my friend lie? Why would I lie? I wasn't there... just wanted to help my friend feel better. Coupon for a discount? Nope. I've only ever had J J's once before as takeout and I don't remember it being very memorable. But we came in recently for a work pizza party and I was pleasantly surprised. The prices are extremely reasonable and the #5 pizza was SO GOOD. Although, the crust could have been cooked a tiny bit more on the bottom. The outside was super puffy and delicious. We also ordered wings (medium) that we're a little sweet for my taste, but fried super crispy and juicy still on the inside. Overall, they were fully staffed on a busy night, friendly and helpful, and we got our food in a timely manner. I would definitely come back just for the #5 pizza alone. I've only had the wings and beer. I may only ever get the wings and beer. These are the best wings I have ever had, and I eat a dangerously absurd amount of wings. I've heard good things about their pizza, but how can I eat pizza when the WINGS ARE THIS GOOD! I get it, I'm overselling this and you're going to get the wings and be like "Charlie, these wings are okay, slow your roll," but you'll be wrong, and I'm right. I'm glad we settled that. I get my wings with the volcano hot sauce, and dipped in their ranch (which they make in house) is one of my favorite flavor combinations on earth. The wings stay crispy even with the sauce, and... I just... love them so much. Just writing this review is driving me to make weekend plans to go here and fuel up on my craving. The rest of the place is... kinda whatever. There are some bar/arcade games here you can play, the tables are picnic style, and you order at the counter. They shout your name for pick-up, and that's it. It's really nothing spectacular, but it has become one of my favorite places in Reno. Can't wait to come back! The kids (employees) are all easy going, professional and do the cooking as you can see from the dining area. I recommend ANY pizza on the menu. I've had the all meat, Mediterranean to other. The place is a dive, so much of the seating is picnic table. We got one of the few tables with chairs. Service was friendly but wait for the pizza seemed long. When the pizza finally did arrive it did not disappoint. It was hot and the toppings were generous. The crust is very good and they provide ranch and honey as dipping sauces. Some of the best pizza around. Not always the fastest, but always worth the wait. They have some excellent wings, great fries, and onion rings. They have been a family favorite since I moved here as a child in 1985. And I have them to thank for my love of dipping crust into honey. The parking lot can be a bit of a hassle, so park on the street if you can. But any issues with parking is forgiven when you have a belly full of their food. Staff has always been very enthusiastic every visit and seem happy to be at work, and happy to help the customers.
