We've ordered from J Sushi a few times and I finally feel ready to give this place a proper review. This is the place you go to when you're craving sushi but really don't feel like spending $50+ for dinner. The value is awesome for what you get, but don't expect an omakase level quality here. We've ordered numerous bento boxes and you get so much food for around $12. The salmon tempura roll is pretty large for only $5 (monthly special). I was craving udon this night and this def hit the spot. I used to go to the location in Corona, and when I saw that they opened one in Brea, I was so excited Because this is a good and affordable sushi place. It's all very good, I love the mango roll and the rolls with no rice. This time, we got the Fried Philly Roll, Dragon roll, Iron Monkey Roll, Gold Dragon Roll. All good! They didn't have a nigiri plate on the menu, except a party platter, which is already a bad sign for a sushi bar. They have plenty of rolls though. But for sushi, I care more about the quality of the fish rather than how pretty it looks on the plate. The rolls are not that inventive. It's pretty much the same thing with different toppings. That's ok, because it tastes ok. But just ok. The fish were not that fresh. not bad. just ok. not great. But since the price is good, this place is perfect for people who can't tell the difference between good sushi and mediocre sushi. Interior is great, service is great, ambiance is great. We just ate here for the first time today and had such a wonderful dining experience! Denise was our waitress and she was amazing! So kind and attended to all of our needs. She was so on it! My nephew said he needed more napkins and she just popped over with more napkins. So awesome. we ordered a bunch of rolls to share and they were all really good. My favorite were the Japanese roll with sea bream and the Sweet Fire roll but they were all good and somewhat different than what I normally see at other restaurants. 4.5 stars but rounding up for price, portion and daily specials. Last week I ordered the blazing night, california roll, spicy tuna roll and the gold dragon for a total of $20 before tax and tip. Online ordering was very easy and convenient, especially during the Coronavirus. Each order also came with a free soft drink. Pick-up was as easy as ordering. I appreciated that there was a one customer limit per person in the store. J Sushi is definitely not stingy on the filling or size of each roll. The only downfall was the tempura on the blazing night roll which was extremely stale and tasted really oily like it had been sitting out for a long time. I'm into it. Had a sushi craving earlier tonight and ordered from this place. Just found out it's only 5 mins away from my house so I will probably be frequenting this place in the future. I ordered the volcano roll, the gold dragon roll (currently on sale for $5), double crunchy roll, and a bento box with beef teriyaki...for two people. I may have overestimated how much my husband and I can eat bc we ended up only eating 2 of the 4 items. The prices are much more affordable compared to other places like crazy rockin' sushi. One roll is around $7-8 versus CRS is like $12. Obviously quality is a little different but I personally thought it was good for what it was. The real test is to see how the fresh sushi tastes, but I currently can't eat raw fish because but the cooked rolls filled my craving! I will be back...to try the raw fish in a couple of months overall would recommend for quality and price. read more

This place is so tasty!! I love their sushi and they always have a special! This was my birthday lunch on 8/24 and it was DELICIOUS! They offered friendly and fast takeout service! My only qualm is that FOR ME, they make their rolls with a little too much rice...but other than that I love it here! I don't have a picture but the tempura here is super tasty as well! Tried this place on a whim and was pleasantly impressed! The restaurant is really casual, as you seat yourself, order upfront and pay at the register. We tried a bunch of different rolls and their bento boxes, which were all really good! I especially enjoyed the rainbow roll, but wasn't a huge fan of the baby pacific roll, nor the double crunchy roll, as they were both a bit too heavy for my liking. I originally ordered beef teriyaki for one of the bento boxes, but apparently they ran out of beef. Although I was initially disappointed when they asked me if they could substitute out chicken instead, I ended up loving the chicken! It wasn't dry at all and had a great flame broiled taste to it, which complimented the teriyaki sauce and white rice nicely. In addition, the owner surprised us later in the evening by coming over to personally apologize for running out of beef. I really appreciated this gesture, but was even more shocked when he returned a few minutes later with a toy for my kiddo to thank us for understanding! Outstanding customer service, to say the least! Best of all, the prices are extremely reasonable and they currently even offer an additional 10% off your bill if you check in on Yelp! They also have daily roll specials that are discounted on certain weekdays, so because we came here on a Thursday, we got a double crunchy roll for just $5! The portion sizes are really generous and we definitely had plenty of leftovers for the next day, which held up well! Our go-to place for rolls is by my old job, and I didn't feel like driving over there after work on Monday, so I asked my husband to find a place by his work. He chose J Sushi, called in the order and picked it up. It was very cheap! Less than $35 for three rolls and a gyoza appetizer! He couldn't remember what he bought, but by looking at the menu I know we had these: White Volcano - This was a crunchy fried roll, with shrimp inside and spicy tuna on top. The orangish sauce served with it was amazing. Very good roll! Baby Pacific - Loads of baked baby crawfish to put on top of Cali rolls with a really good dark sauce. This was our favorite! Gyoza - These were sooooo good! Plump and porky with a great scallion flavor. I didn't care for the sauce, too vinegary, but good on their own. He got one more roll, and I really don't know what it was or what was in it, but we both liked it! At first he was annoyed that we had to add our own sauce, but I think they do that for to-go orders so the rolls don't get soggy. I think it's a good thing. Just wow! Highly recommend. I came here on a recommendation and I am sure glad I did. It was a very small place but plenty of seating. We were greeted and seated right away. The sever was so helpful and kind. We went with her recommendation of Blazing Dragon roll. It was really good and tasted fresh. We also tried a California roll, couple of pieces sushi, Iron Monkey and Hurricane roll. They all were very fresh and flavorful. Ordered via Uber eats. We got the salmon lover roll (5 out of 5), gold dragon roll (4 out of 5) and dragon roll (3.5 out of 5). Overall, food was delicious and fish was fresh. They definitely do not skimp out on the fish/crab meat. However, I do wish the dragon roll had more eel on it. For takeout, I guess they do not put the eel sauce on the roll, but rather they put it on the side in a sauce container. I did not know this. Half way through my meal, I realized I was supposed to have drizzled the eel sauce on my roll. I had been eating it as a dipping sauce and it was weird. Lesson learned for next time! This place is amazing! Wanted sushi after strolling around the mall but we didn't want to go to a top expensive sushi place or a sushi place with a long wait so we settled on J sushi. At first, I couldn't believe the price. I'm not sure if the price is because they're still in a grand opening phase(?) or if it's their actual price. Either way, I would snag this deal ASAP!! I ordered the golden dragon and the heart attack. The heart attack was perfectly fried and delicious. The golden dragon is a baked roll with salmon on top of a California roll? Either way, for the price, it was absolutely delicious and 100% worth it. I will say that I wished the roll had more cucumber in it, I don't think there was only. The service was also incredibly nice. The way this restaurant works (or at least from my experience today) is that you order and pay before you get your food. So you pay before you get all the service (if you're dining in). I really think they should change that. I made the mistake of not tipping right when I ordered since I am so use to tipping after eating at a restaurant. The workers there really work hard and deserve all the tips they can get so they really should change that system so no one else makes the same mistake as I did. Overall my experience here was great. This has nothing to do with the food. The food is good, the servers are very friendly, I ran into one issues though. I'm not sure who this man is BUT I've heard him speak to the servers rudely before. He works in the kitchen. I was here today and he came out of the kitchen and I heard his rude tone so I looked up and he was speaking to a server. We made eye contact and I looked away from him to the server and I looked back and he was still looking at me. I looked away again and he said out loud in Spanish "come como ratton". Which translates to "she eats like a rat" in English. It's was unwarranted and it definitely takes away from the experience. I couldn't finish my food. Just hurtful. read more
