I'll start with the fact that I was in a service oriented business and have lived in Paso Robles all my life. I believe that every business has a bad day and when you are just opening there can be bugs to work out. This owner needs to be aware that growth can be problematic in order to have consistency. This owner has at least 5 restaurants in our area and we have patronized the Jacks on Creston Road three times since it's recent opening. All three times we have encountered poor to very poor service and tonight a Monday evening at six o'clock was by far the very worst. Not a full restaurant and did not appear to be short staffed. Four people, 45 minutes to get our food (table next to us experienced same time) had to request water, not once did we have any wait person come to refill water, coffee or ask if our guest would like another couple beers. We asked for catsup and ranch, all four of us had fries and/or onion rings, we were brought two catsup and two ranch, no one ever returned to ask if we needed anything else and we NEVER saw our waitress again until she brought the check. The other two experiences we had we made the usual excuses, it's a new opening, it's a Friday night and it's busy. The first visit I was one of the customers who didn't check there bill and was not informed that they automatically add the tip for guests 6 or more, so very happy waitress who got a double tip for mediocre service. Chalked it up to my ignorance and that they just opened that week. We have always respected the job that wait staff do and tip at least 20% but now apparently we are expected to tip 25% for bad or mediocre service and inconsistent food. Unless we all send a message that we only patronize businesses that provide a quality service, business owners will continue to allow their staff to represent them with poor service and inconsistent food . The ribeye that our friend got should never have left the kitchen tonight. He was our guest and did not want to complain. There is another restaurant owner who is getting bad press recently because his theroy is that he caters to the tourist not locals. So sad, there is a high degree of failure in this business. I hope that this owner has not decided he doesn't need the local support. I think I have said enough, hoping this is taken as constructive criticism and demands more of his staff. The food was very good, the service was excellent and I love the atmosphere of this location. We have been here twice in the last month and completely enjoyed it. It isn't as busy as the Templeton location, which we love as we don't have to wait for a table and then can't hear each other talk because there is so much noise from other tables. read more

With the waitress Over our shoulders, we started to order My buddy. Order the dry tip Burger and I ordered the chili And I asked it became with a side she said. Yes, ordered onion rings well. It should I came out bil-wise about $50 since the Burger. My friend order was 24 and mine was 19. We're handed a $90 bill. we asked about it. She said that's the dinner menu prize. Where do I start, if your choice is jacks for food , make the trip and drive 13 minutes to the one in Templeton. I didn't even know they had a jacks in Paso..... Don't wanna be too rude to our server because he looked young but let me tell you he was either stoned or training, came back 10 min after we ordered to ask someone at our table what they ordered again, took at least 10 min for ranch , got a vodka soda wrong and then got my order wrong(we were there for lunch and the place had maybe 4 people in it besides us ... also full staff so don't even get me started) didn't even eat it and pushed it to the edge of the table and never saw him again.... A woman named Jessica gave us our check and was nice and attentive (sadly I couldn't get his name because she checked us out ) we paid and here I am now writing this review. I work in the service industry and these are just little things someone should just be attentive of ... weather training, stoned , young or ECT... Sadly will not go back there again and hopefully our server gets better training or something because this place is loosing out on money read more

If you instantly want to feel unwelcome, unwanted and unappreciated by 2 young servers who obviously don't want to make money, well this is the place to go! Sunday 630 pm the place was dead and no hostess to greet us so we sat ourselves in the bar area and still no acknowledgment then after being passed by three times the bartender comes over with no menus and says are we eating here? We reply "yes we are eating here in the bar and we need a menu", then she asks, "well did someone greet you or seat you?" We said that nobody was there to greet us so we just seated ourselves in the bar like we always do at the other Jacks ! So we walked right out and never to return! What a beautiful remodel on this place! So lovely. The menu is identical to the one in Templeton. My husband had the creole, shrimp pasta, dish a little spicy, but very very tasty. I had the Reuben sandwich, coleslaw is incredible. The corned beef on the Reuben could've been much much leaner. But overall, what a wonderful experience. He tried the peanut butter, old-fashioned, he liked it a lot. I had tBrochelle zin delicious. Our server, Jessica, was extraordinary! She also works at Cielo in Atascadero. What a gal! read more

Sadly disappointing. While I would like to support a local restaurant, this one is quite difficult to endorse. Needed a place to grab dinner and remembered the news of Jack's Bar and Grill opening in Paso Robles. We arrived as the Monday night football game was ending and were quickly acknowledged and seated by the hostess you provided us menus. The restaurant itself while clean, displayed no warmth neither by the ambiance or the staff. The feeling was cold. Cold lights were bright, and the music competed with the televisions. Our server arrived quickly & introduced herself asking if we wanted to order a cocktail. We did. Understanding it was just after 8p we asked if we could order our food as well and she took our order. The timing and the delivery of food was quick; but not before being delivered to the table across from us that had already received their dinner. We were told our cocktails were coming so we started eating and waited for our drinks to arrive. We ordered the half smoked chicken and a Ruben sandwich. The food was tasty but nothing special. Drinks showed well and had some presentation, however the Paloma tasted like someone had used grapefruit juice out of a can and was quite bitter and the cosmopolitan was just tart. There was no balance to either drink. The drinks just fried the palate. I would have turned to my water glass as an alternative but, I had never been offered water. Service left a whole lot to be desired. Once our dinner and drinks were delivered, our server never returned except to bring our bill. We paid the bill and found we needed some change to leave a tip. It was obvious, the little bit of service provided for the evening had come to an end. We couldn't flag down our server. Couldn't get her attention. The other two servers were chatting at the side with their backs to the table and the bartender was busy eating French fries. So we got up and asked for change. No one seamed to notice or care. Service? What is that? I am sadly disappointed by the experience. The facility has such potential, but the staff or people wearing Jack's Bar and Grill t-shirts don't seem to understand what they are there to accomplish. You might consider training the team and hiring a manager to hold the team to a standard, deliver on service and keep the team on task. read more

Tried Jacks for lunch last Wednesday, had a party of 5. Our server Jessica was wonderful. She recommended I try the Prime Rib sandwich and my goodness the sandwich was great! OK, so Jack's is new in Paso so we wanted to try it out. I can say the food was pretty good but the service sucks. The gal who was attending us could care less whether we were happy or not. She dragged her feet when she walked and just really didn't seem happy, I always say that people can have bad days but it's unfortunate when you go to a restaurant or you expect good service and you get half assed service/bad service. I think people that don't like people should not be in the people industry. I also asked her about my drink, which seemed to have no alcohol in it and when I advised her of that, she said yeah, it has alcohol didn't bother to say well maybe I can refresh it for you or can I get you something else. I was there during midday after 1 PM, so there weren't a lot of people there so not like she was really busy or had much to do. I'm not sure whether I'll go back there or not but it definitely won't be on the dayshift. Otherwise the food was decent but the drinks must've been served with an eyedropper full of vodka or none. So this is my Second time Eating at Jack Paso First Time we ordered for work to go they messed up all three Orders it was their first week and they refunded our money! So gave it another shot yesterday wanted to get something to eat and watch Monday night football at the bar sadly the TV at the bar was having issues Manager apologized and moved me to a table near the TV that was working she was very nice! So I ordered some wings and beer which the manager brought to me again very nice wings were so so 18$ a little drank beer waitress walked by my empty glass 3 times nothing Manager again came ask me if needed anything i said yes a beer witch she did even bartender came over to see if needed another beer but waitresses literally walked by 3 times nothing so tv come back on at bar so i move back order a ribeye burger from Bartender she asked me if medium rare is fine i said yes .It comes out looks good but it completely well done like a hockey puck and way to salty i only had half it was just to salty and dry this all sucks as i had high hopes for this place bottom line is food is not good and its too expensive ! we went to this restarant on Creston Rd @ paso Robles on saturday evening around 5-30 pm. the place was not full. i found the restaurant very cold and asked the receptionist to turn on the heat. we even moved to a nearby booth, to get warm. our waiter appeared very distracted and appeared to be in a hurry. we placed our orders. I ordered the Philly Steak sandwitch , my daughetr ordered a chicken wrap and my wife ordered a corned beef sandwitch. my daughter said her food was salty and had a weird sauce on it, that tasted bad. she didn't enjoy her dinner and left half of it on her plate. my Philly Steak sandwitch didn't turn out well either. it jsut fell apart on the plate, as the bread was too small. it looked like the chef just threw the meat, bell peppers and a few bits onion on the small piece of bread. it was terrible, with no flavor or taste; my wife did like her corned beef sandwitch. the server did come back once and asked about the food. when I told him, my sandwitch had fallen apart, his reaction was bizzare. he said that's the way 'they' make it here..!! my daughetr and I were totally disappointed with the food, the service, and we're not planning to go there again. i agree with the review by Debbie B this place needs an upgrade in food preparation, customer service, and overall comfort, to gain popularity needless to say, i felt , we didn't get our money's worth at this place..!!
