Since opening, they've Only been inconsistent, with lower and lower quality & very overpriced food. How you mess up easy staples is beyond me, but obviously speaks to how much they don't care about the quality of what they served. Wants to like them, but would rather go across town to Urban Plates, quality and consistency every time. Wanted to like them especially because of the close proximity to our home. The turkey dinner plate is first-rate. It tastes largely homemade. Nothing is oversalted, except arguably the gravy but that's a minor point. Salads are good here, as well, with lots of options and high-quality dressings. I can't comment on other dishes because although I've had the turkey dinner probably twenty times, I haven't tried much else. A couple of soups were good, even during the summer months. BTW the turkey plate is roughly $16 and includes two side dishes. Not cheap but a solid value considering the quality. Mashed potatoes and gravy are a must. Mixed veggies have zucchini-type squash in them and I don't like zucchini -- but the onions, red peppers and mushrooms make them a worthwhile side. Honey Sriracha cauliflower was good -- it's new. The roasted brussel sprouts -- also new -- were only OK one time and pretty darned good today. (Cooked through, not crunchy, not burnt but nicely roasted.) For people who grew up in the South, you might want to order an extra side because Mac and cheese is one option. That would bring the meal closer to a Southern Thanksgiving. Last November, for about a month, stuffing was offered as a side. Hoping they bring it back. Good draft beers are available and I've had several IPAs when dining in. Love the food and the freshness! The service during the pandemic was little chaotic! I order my food in advance and I arrived 5 minutes later ( I i always give 5-10 minute buffer) but I waited for an extra 15 minutes with no explanation. PeopLe who walked in and received their order before my order ( grant it it may have been a smaller order) but I asked and there was no real explanation. Come to find out the waitress had my bag completed and it was sitting on the counter the whole time. Agh, everything was cold when I got home. Since this was during a chaotic time and probably one time issue ( never had an issue before), I will be going back. Just know to ask the waitress to cHeck the bags to make sure your order isn't jUst sitting there. I had been here a few times but both times were good. I had only the Kids Mac and Cheese and a cookie. The people who work there are really friendly and very helpful. I had been there before dinner rush and both times took the food to go. The menu looks appealing but their M and Cheese is basically addicting. DH and I enjoyed a recent lunch at Jack's Urban Eats.It was a bit past the noon hour so we had our choice of a booth or a table on the patio. We chose the inside booth. At first the noise level seemed high, but we were able to have a normal conversation. DH was happy to find a reuben sandwich on the menu. He found it to be quite good, despite the rye bread which had a bit of "marshmallow" texture. (We are on a quest to find good rye bread ... not easy.) Fries are extra, not automatically with the sandwich. That is actually a good thing, and DH surprisingly passed them up. I was amazed at the size of my "Build Your Own Salad." Only $8 for a large portion of greens and six toppings. I added the tri-tip for $3.50. In the future, I will probably skip the mixed greens and go with the romaine or spinach. The mixed greens had lots of shredded carrots that were a bit woody and not particularly flavorful. Good choices on the toppings, including beets, jicama, hard-boiled eggs, and artichokes to name just a few. (Artichokes were also a bit on the "woody" side.) Decor was nothing to get excited about, IMO. Rather barn-like. In general, I prefer table service, rather than ordering at the counter. However, the line was not too long -- and I had looked at the menu ahead of time so I had a good idea to order. Prep staff and servers were friendly -- and most importantly got our order right! A little disappointing considering the prices and the praise we'd heard about the original location in Sacramento. Jack's Urban Eats is set up a bit like a high-end Boston Market: counter service for a smallish selection of salads, sandwiches and meats, with side dishes including mashed potatoes, fries and mac n cheese. We tried Jack's because my wife was craving a Reuben's but their NY Reuben was not up to her New York standards. It had a decent amount of tasty lean corned beef, but given how thick the bread was, it was not especially generous. But there was too little cheese and kraut and way too much mustard (especially since mustard is not an essential part of a Reuben). A great Reuben not only has quality ingredients but combines them in a way that enhances each of them to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. This fell short. I had the pesto chicken salad which was nice enough, especially the generous slice of smoked mozzarella, but not that great or all that big for $10. We also got the family size garlic fries, which were delicious and more than enough for our family (and let's face it, with that much garlic its best to share with the whole family at the time, because you will be sharing the smell with everyone a long time afterwards). My daughters had the kids tri tip with mac n cheese and the chicken strips. The portion of tri tip was too small for my daughter, but I should have expected that with a kids meal. We ordered takeout and it was probably 15 minutes before we ate the food, so I will allow that it could have been better right off the grill. The place looked nice enough and was not busy at 5 on a weekday. Staff were very friendly. I couldn't find any open parking in front, but there is a lot more parking adjacent. read more

Omg their urban fries are to die for. I sub the blue cheese for ranch - my preference. The manager there has always been very kind to me and very friendly. There is a blonde that works here and she has an attitude problem. She told me very rudely to wait at the salad bar if I wanted to order. I let her know I've never done that before and she copped an even bigger attitude instead of explaining their process. I literally came two days in a row for their Western BBQ Steak salad...omg it's soooooo good! The first one I had yesterday was on point, also had their garlic fries which were amazing! Came back and got the same thing minus tomatoes and it was even better!!! This place is perfect for lunch, there may be a wait when they make your food but no more than 10 minutes. Portions are are great, both times I had something left over for dinner which is pretty convenient. Also, be advised, at the lunch hour, parking is terrible so try to beat the crowd around and arrive around 11:30 am to get a parking spot. Looking forward to trying other dishes here. read more

Cooked perfectly, amazing creamy sauce and a little crunch with every bite because of the fried onions. My only suggestion would be that I would love to try it on a Dutch crunch bread. One of Walnut Creeks newest spots, is located in the newly built, nice Orchards Plaza. There's ton's of parking for now (since most store fronts haven't been rented out yet). Looking to try something new, the wife and I stopped in on a Tuesday night. The place was fairly busy, but has good amount of tables located inside, and a few more outside for warmer nights. Ordering is a bit of a cafeteria style set up, where you go up and order at the window, they write down your order and you pay at a cashier, where they'll give you a number or you wait for your order to be done if you're getting it to go. The service was fast and friendly, and the food came out fairly quickly. I tried the Pesto Chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was tasty and the bread was soft and the fries were decent. The wife got a Chinese Chicken salad, which was overdressed, and only okay. This place gets 3 stars since the food is decent, but not the greatest you can find in the Dub C, and is a little pricey (as is all things Walnut Creek). read more

My family and I just stopped in for lunch on our way home from Monterey. This place is absolutely amazing. They have the best food and all of the employees were super friendly. I love the fact that you can see everything they are preparing. They also have a kids section on the menu. Which is a plus for us. I had the Tri-Tip sandwich and salad. My husband had the Steak Salad and we shared the Urban Fries. My kids had the Chicken tenders and fries and the Tri-Tip and fries. The portions are perfect and the Urban fries are addicting. I am from Sacramento so I was so excited to see a Jack's in the Bay Area! The service when I went there was so great! It was quick and so polite. The food was absolutely delicious. I got the Jack's Classic Chicken sandwich with fries, which is my favorite sandwich on the menu. They give lots of meat and the fires came out hot, crispy and perfectly salted. My sister got the chicken tenders and Mac n cheese. The chicken tenders were so crispy and the meat inside was juicy. Plus their BBQ sauce went perfectly. The Mac n cheese could've been a little creamier, but that could be a personal preference. I don't know why, but I thought this place was going to be like Urban Plates, which is pretty healthy. I had the same expectations, but I don't think the food here is as healthy, or maybe healthy at all. I had a chinese chicken salad. The portion was pretty big, but it was overdressed. The portions were good, they didn't skimp on the chicken. It was a little pricey for what I got, though. The blue cheese dressing was thin like milk. I ordered medium rare tri tip for my entree but was given dried well done meat. If i wasn't so tired from working long hours I'd bring them all back. This is really a hit or miss. I was really excited that this opened up in Walnut Creek as I used to eat at Jack's Urban Eats quite frequently while attending law school in Sacramento. The buffalo chicken salad is my go to, and their french fries. However, the one time I ordered for take out they totally messed up my order. Granted, I make substitutions: no blue cheese, and ranch instead of the blue cheese dressing. I also asked for the dressing on the side. Instead, it was loaded with actual blue cheese. The chicken did not have the buffalo sauce over it, instead that sauce was on the side and no salad dress. Ughhh...that was disappointing. Otherwise eating at the restaurant is okay. Expect it to be busy and hard to find seats during lunch hours. The price is average, not cheap but not expensive. read more

Passed by Jack's a few times while shopping or eating in this center. It grabbed my attention so I looked it up on yelp and saw it was well rated. One day a few weeks later, and looking for a place for dinner, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is clean and modern. They also have a decent amount of outdoor seating if it's a nice evening. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. My first go around I had the turkey plate with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was delicious. I had a glass of wine along side it. I have to say that it was very reasonably priced for both my dinner and wine. I liked it so much that I came back later that week and tried the tri tip alongside some Mac n cheese. Tri tip wasn't as good as the turkey but it was still good and the Mac was great. Well having such a good meal the first two times, I had to come back a third time to get the turkey again. I also tasted my friend's meal which was the chicken breast. It was all tasty. What a special place. Let's start with the food. Everything is cooked fresh daily, using extremely fresh, high quality ingredients. All made to order on the spot, and made well. They have a unique style of taking orders and preparing them in front of you, as you move down the line towards the register to pay. It's a cool experience. Next I'll mention the staff. They're polite and considerate. They genuinely care about their customers and the food. Imagine that! Finally, I'll mention that this place is clean beyond clean. One of the owners, Austin, proudly explained that this restaurant is steam cleaned from ceiling to floor, every single night. You read that right, every single night. This is evident in the fact that I eat here regularly, and I have never had a single issue. No trace of a tweak to the stomach or an off flavor of any kind. As a person who relies on restaurants in order to eat, I can tell you that this is an extremely rare and beautiful thing. I appreciate these people and their food very much. Even more so during this time of quarantines and self isolation. They have made the commitment to be here for their customers and to do so as long as possible.
