The only thing bothersome is the male host. He is rude and really not very respectful of his coworkers. I wouldn't be so bothered if his behavior was with everyone but I've observed him be very polite and pleasant with other customers (regulars) I guess but rude to other customers. I would say maybe a bad day, still not an excuse to be rude but everyone has one but this is the 2nd time that we've been exposed to his behavior and it's the same. That said EVERYONE else is wonderful and the rest is 100% why we keep coming back. read more

The food I ordered tasted fresh, not cooked out of the freezer. I've tried the Greg's Greek Skillet before. Not only was delicious but very filling. I'd say this is breakfast for at least two people. All in all, this place has been around for a very long time. Today, I ordered the Ham & Cheese Omelette with home fries (see picture). Again, this is big enough for two people (but if you're really hungry, this will do the job!). It's worth to mention that although not all tables were occupied, I heard others complementing the food and the waitresses' attention towards the clientele. Also, it seems that many people continue to come to Jack's. I noticed that waitresses called clientele by their names when they first walked inside the coffee shop. My experience has been during breakfast. But nonetheless, this place is worth checking it out! I hope whoever reads this review also has a good to great experience at Jack's, too. read more

This is hands down the best place in town if you want a good meal in a friendly atmosphere. The service is excellent. I only wish I could give them more stars. If I could only eat one last meal I would come here to have it. This is still the best place to enjoy a family experience and get great food at the same time. Stopped by this place for dinner today. Parking is good, atmosphere was friendly and the menu has plenty of options. Over all it was a good place to eat, but nothing really stood out. I tried the chicken and waffle, which I herd was a pig plus for the place, but it just didnt have the flavor i expected. The chicken was nice golden brown and crispy, but the breast was a bit dry. I expected something with more punch or memorable. The waffle was also nothing special. For the price, the portion was fair. The spectacular French toast had a heavy egg smell and taste. My wife's omelet was delicious and I would say they have the best hashbrowns j have tried in a while. Service is great and we will come back again, I just will be trying something else. Just bought a house out in whittier and noticed the lines outside the restaurant. I ordered the meat lovers skillet and was extremely disappointed with it. I should have just went to Dennys or Ihop. Literally everything my family ordered had no flavor. I'm not by any means hard to impress or am I one to destroy ones business, but damn the 3.5 stars they have should be knocked down to 1.5 and the 1.5 is for the hostess who sat us. Never had a bad experience until right now got here with my son and our waiter a tall thin guy was pushy keep coming and saying are you ready to order now , were like not yet looking still then he finally took our order I asked for onion rings (I never got them) the grilled salmon was unflavored and the worst part was the baked potato was cold as fk.. filled all in the middle and overflowing with sour cream and as I used my fork to take the cream off it was burnt and looked like yesterday's .. my son's parmesan chicken panini was burnt ..all bad and the bread was soggy and he didn't even eat it not to mention I paid $49 for a shitty meals!! First time with my mom here yesterday and they got almost nothing right. Food was ok, not what I ordered, because the waitress wrote it down wrong, but it was fine since I was hungry and didn't want to wait even more. Never got my soup with my meal, had to take it to go when I finally got a waitress to give me to go boxes. Never got coffee refills unless I asked, the waitress that said she would be helping never came back and someone else helped. Placed a to go order which was incorrect as well but that was my fault - I should have checked that it was the right order because they had messed up everything else. They never asked me what type of soup i wanted in the to go order and just gave me one and I couldn't tell them to change it because they never came back to offer me options. The fries in my to go order was raw and they gave me the wrong sandwich (not what I ordered) and! This was a new waitress - not the one that messed up my food. I would understand this if it was really full and busy but it wasn't. We spent $60 and nothing was right or worth the price especially with the bad really bad service. read more

The food is not great, the server is helpful but the policies for adding two dollars to a kids meal for an adult really got our negative attention, especially since the menu doesn't state 12 and under no exceptions or the two dollar up charge. We were a large group out on the patio where the normal chairs are tiny and uncomfortable. They pulled out a few large chairs for some of us. I had the tortilla soup and it was THE BEST tortilla soup I have ever had. That is saying a lot because I have had it many many places. In fact the soup was so full of good things that I was too full to eat my sandwich. I ate some of my fries and took the sandwich home. I ate it later and it was also very good. Our waitress was very attentive even making a fresh pot of coffee for me when I ordered coffee. I had just finished a hike, so I figured this was the best way to replenish all of those calories I had just burned off. The dish was good, but the fried potatoes were the star of the show for me. The outside was crispy and the insides were toasty warm with just the right amount of crunch. The hollandaise sauce was a little gritty, but I did love that the used thick pieces of ham under the eggs making it a pretty hearty choice. Biscuits and gravy were pretty standard and came in an order of two. The biscuits were fluffy and the the gravy had a nice peppery flavor to it. The coffee was standard, but of course you have unlimited refills, so that always makes it better! If you're in the area, it's a good option to fill your belly. I use to come a lot back way when (probably before when hubby came along) and it was just the place to meet up w/girlfriends for breakfast after a hanging out w/them dancing & all; Also where I'd take my girls when they were younger. Food is great, prices to me seem reasonable, I don't know why some people complain it's a little pricey, for example the salads are priced the same as other places, but here your truly get a generous portion - As Elaine Benes (Seinfeld, people) would call it "A Big Salad" & that excellent homemade taste/quality. They have something for everyone. You have issues w/your diet? (I do!) you can have it your way here, healthy substitutions like fruit, etc. They definitely have a variety of dishes, more so than I've ever seen at other diners in this area. And their fried chicken is to die for! The service is fast & friendly, everyone there is just wonderful!! Although I rarely went to either location, I was bummed to find out last time I was in Whittier that Jack's Salad Bowl had closed. Both restaurants were similar, although the Salad Bowl was superior in my mind. Jack's Restaurant is your basic American restaurant. Don't expect too much in the way of flavor, but the service can be good. I wanted to like Jack's, really cute design and retro decor. Too bad the food did not live up to the traditional diner standard. The Eggs Benedict were marked as a house special, so I was on board. Unfortunately, they were anything but special. As seen in the photo the eggs were completely overcooked. A thick slice of weird tasting Canadian bacon sat atop the toasted English muffin, the only thing on my plate I actually liked. Even the hollandaise was off, although my husband said he liked it. My husband also ordered a house special, the Country Breakfast. He ordered his eggs over easy, they arrived over medium. His home fries were fair, but he did like the smoky ham. We has to try the biscuits and gravy wherever we go...these were fair because the biscuits were good, the gravy was not. It was bland and too thick. The worst part was everything, I mean everything, arrived cold. Sending back food sucks and when it did come back it was only warm. I should have been tipped off by the outrageously rude host when we walked in. The only time he spoke to us is when he asked how many in our party.
