Really enjoyed Jang Gogi! The flavors were great across the board, and one of the biggest standouts for me was the banchan. Everything we tried was well marinated, flavorful, and not overly salty. The meat quality was high. If you've been to Seoul Meat Co., I'd say the quality is pretty comparable, which is a good reference point. The ambiance was also a nice part of the experience, lively without feeling too chaotic, and it had a warm, inviting BBQ spot energy that made the meal feel even more enjoyable and social. What I liked most about Jang Gogi was the ability to break up all the richness from the meat. The cold noodles/ban chan were especially refreshing and worked really well as a palate cleanser between rounds of BBQ. The sushi also gives you another way to switch things up so the meal doesn't feel like nonstop meat the entire time. Service was quick, attentive, and kind throughout the meal. Overall, Jang Gogi does a really good job balancing flavorful meats with banchan, cold noodles, sushi, and other sides that keep the meal from feeling too heavy. I'd definitely come back.

Super friendly staff! Ambience is so much more open and bigger feeling than palace. Lots of variety of food. Good sides and flavors. I liked that there were sushi options to help mix up the flavor palette.

This is hands down the best AYCE Korean BBQ place in Washington! The quality of the meat speaks for itself, and all the side dishes were amazing. The soybean paste soup was seriously so good--it might even be better than my mom's! The sushi was also surprisingly high quality and tasted amazing!

Came here on a Friday evening around 630, and wasn't too busy- but we also made reservations! Meats came out quick to cook, and they were really good at changing the grill when it would start burning. You're able to order 3meats at a time. Would come again!

Came here while craving some kbbq after coming back from Korea. I saw they replaced palace bbq (which I also never tried). Came at 4pm when it was very empty, and they let me eat the kbbq alone. (Not recommended honestly, the portions are kind of large! So it meant I couldn't try as many meats.) The kimchi and pickles were pretty good. The meat was tasty, and the server helped cook it (he mentioned it was mostly if it wasn't too busy, it's not necessarily a given). I think the beef finger rib and the boneless rib were best, though I think the marinated versions tasted better than the non marinated ones in every instance. It was fun to order a random sushi roll (tasted nice), and I love getting more sauces (they had soybean paste)!

Great place to get both korean barbecue and sushi around Bellevue! The service was amazing, the quality of the meats was on point, everything was flavorful, and everything else that we ordered including the appetizers was also very tasty! Overall, I highly recommend and I would come back!

Recommend the signature set, the meat with the bone is my favorite. Ambiance is good and clean. K pop playing in the background, not super loud but loud enough to make your group feel comfortable speaking up a little. Ventilation is superb, probably the best of any Korean bbq in the area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking around and easy to get to. Quite pricey which is the norm around the area. Would come again for special occasions. Do wish they had coke zero instead of Pepsi zero though lol

    really good sides

Really clean and delicious. The server are really kind. The meat are also really fresh.

Excellent quality meat, fresh ingredients, and outstanding service. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and consistently delicious. Highly recommend for KBBQ lovers!

We checked out the soft opening of this new eastside Korean bbq and sushi spot. AYCE options offer different pricing for premium or signature, both offering sushi on the menus. The new owners and staff are so kind and thoughtful, a welcome energy to Korean dining. We can't wait to see how the business grows and we're honored to be a part of the soft opening this week!

This was only our second time visiting, and he took the time to explain the menus, something we didn't receive during our first visit. When our sushi arrived, he didn't just drop off the food and leave. Since all of the rolls were served on one platter, he walked us through each roll so we knew exactly what we were eating. That level of attention made the experience so much more enjoyable. He also checked on us frequently without being intrusive and made sure we were able to place our entire order before happy hour ended. During our last visit, our server avoided our table until about five minutes before happy hour ended, so we missed out on ordering several items we wanted to try. David made sure that didn't happen this time. We left completely full, happy, and very satisfied. His service was intentional, attentive, and truly top-tier. Customer service like his is exactly what keeps people coming back. We will definitely be requesting David the next time we visit! Also, the ambiance is lovely!

Not a lot of people there for a random weekday lunch. Lots of different rolls and sushi on the menu, along with beverages. The happy hour menu is also valid during lunch time. We tried a bunch of appetizers. My favorite was the calamari. There isn't much batter but there is a sweetness from orange zest. The edamame and takoyaki were decent. The chicken kaarage was not particularly flavorful nor did it have much of a crispy skin. Also tried the Cos-no-politan mocktail which definitely had that grapefruit flavor. For mains, I got the bento and the Super Bad Boy roll off the happy hour menu. The bento box has good portions. The contents change day to day, but I got chicken teriyaki over rice, 3 pieces of a crab roll, 2 pieces of fish nigiri, seaweed salad with some small octopi. Everything in the box was decent except the teriyaki, which was a bit rubbery. As for the Super Bad Boy roll, it's one of their fried rolls, and the frying made the roll taste a bit dry. Should have ordered a non-fried roll. Overall, service was good, portions okay. Some items were good, some were not that great.

Takai…read morehas been on my "to try" list ever since hearing that Chef Shiro co-partnered opening a restaurant on the Eastside a couple of years ago. Reservations were made ~3 weeks in advance for a reasonable dinner time slot on a weekend. We opted for the A La Carte Menu option which gave us the ability to order individual menu items while still offering omakase options. Our party of 4 ordered 2 omakase's (nigiri choice), a nigiri set, a salmon moriawase, and seasonal tempura. I personally ordered the omakase and the experience was well worth it with the sushi quality being extremely high. There were ~7 to 8 courses served throughout the omakase experience including 3 courses involving nigiri and the remaining courses involving a blend of small bites (egg, fish cake, tempura, sashimi, miso soup, dessert egg, hojicha ice cream to name a few). What especially stood out to me was the outstanding service that was displayed throughout the course of the meal. Our server was notably attentive and even went as far as switching the presentation of my nigiri courses after noticing I was left-handed so that I could eat from left to right while normally advising guests to eat from right to left. Every time one of us went to the restroom, our tablecloths were folded by our server and placed back onto the table. Tableware was immediately cleared upon finishing a course and every course in the omakase set came with a detailed description of the food you were about to eat and where in the world it was coming from. In all, the great food makes me want to be back soon, but the high level of service for the night completely made the experience that much more memorable.

The restaurant is very small, a few tables and a back room that had a traditional Japanese seating. They have their own small parking lot too right in front. The service was okay. After we got our order it was kind of hard to get someone's attention. Getting the check and paying took a long time. I thought the food was good. The seared salmon was my favorite and they don't put a lot of rice so you can eat lots of it. I kind of liked the ramen it just took a few sips to get used to it and it comes in a big bowl too!! The yaki (not pictured) I misread for soup but it was a sautéed dish and it was also good since I like udon noodles and comes in a huge plate too. So the servings are very big for the entrees and soups. I didn't get to try a lot of the sushi due to most of it having an avocado allergy but had mixed reviews at the table. We chose to upgrade the tuna roll to negitoro, which was completely worth it - it was so buttery and delicious. The set itself was super generous in portion size, and each piece of fish tasted so fresh! I loved the toro piece so much. We also got the pumpkin fried rice to share since it was highly recommended, and WOW that did not disappoint either. It was packed with pumpkin and had a good wok hei aroma. Definitely worth it.
