I had a very strange experience here on a Saturday night around 5pm with my husband. We were the only ones in the restaurant and there was a young kid riding around our table on a tricycle, ringing his bell. We were ignored for at least 10 minutes upon walking in but decided to stay because I really wanted to try it out, seeing how there are so many raving reviews. Unfortunately all we got was overpriced, boring food. I would try again because I believe it may have been a fluke... but WTF to the kid on the tricycle, I mean...come on? We ordered Tom Kha to-go. This was a little interesting because it tasted more like Tom Yum so I'm not sure if they gave me the right dish or not. The dish was just ok, I felt like it was a little Americanized rather than authentic, but I guess that's my fault for going into a Vietnamese restaurant and ordering a Thai dish. I probably won't go back since there are tons of other restaurants to try, and I don't know if there was another umph about this place for me to want to try again. read more

I am going to go 5 here. For that Salt and Pepper Tofu. Great Original dish. The Coconut Crepe was good, all their house made sauces are excellent ( just like Jasmine Deli), the drink with Ginger Vodka was great. The Spring was ok, not as good as the Spring rolls at Jasmine Deli however. Prices were good, service friendly and very quick. Vegetarians and vegans be careful! I used to like this restaurant, partly because of the vegan options offered and good reviews from non-meat eaters. I hadn't been there in a while, so I came in for lunch a couple of weeks ago. My boyfriend clearly ordered veggie potstickers so I could have some. After a couple of bites, something wasn't right. When the waiter came back, I asked and he said that they were chicken. This is extremely disturbing to someone who hasn't eaten meat in many years. To make things worse, every time the waiter would come to our table, he would make a comment about how "if you have any special dietary needs, just tell us." Um, clearly veggie potstickers were ordered and I had ordered my meal vegan. The worst part, though, came at the end of the meal. After the incident, the waiter offered to bring me something to cleanse my palette, which he said would be free of charge. Yet when the bill arrived, he tried to charge not only for the meat-filled potstickers but also for the spring rolls I hadn't even initially ordered, when he'd insisted they'd be free! I had to make a thing of it to get him to comp the appetizers, and the whole time he continued to make strange comments about how they try to be accommodating. It was a horrible experience. I don't know if this place has gone seriously downhill or what, but the way the waiter handled the situation after the fact definitely means that I will not be returning. read more

Red snapper thai ceviche served with giant rice crisps, ground spiced chicken wrapped around sugarcane, hot pots, ginger infused cocktails, soju cucumber martinis. I rolled in to this chic, modern-looking Vietnamese restaurant quite late on a Monday night only to find this place virtually empty, with a few people sitting at the bar, and the employees/family eating dinner in the back. I sat at the bar, next to what turned out to be a few local regulars, and ordered from the menu--but was told after several minutes that the appetizer I ordered was unavailable. Time to write off this place, right? Ah, but this story has a happy ending. I switched my order to the fried tofu seasoned with sea salt and pepper. I didn't know then how popular it was amongst Yelpers--but it was fantastic. One of the best appetizers I've had in some time. There was a bit of a long wait to get my entree: the Empress fried rice. It was tasty, though I had a few tough pieces of pork, and I didn't care for the sausage. Still, when the bartender (who I think was the owner and/or manager) suggested some special hot sauce, and one of the local regulars recommended the chili garlic sauce, proclaiming he "practically ate it by the spoonful", I obliged. Now I know why--It was wonderful. Obviously, I came at a very non-prime time, and the manager himself explained that to me. Nonetheless, him and his staff were very friendly, and we (including a couple of the local regulars who stayed late) chatted for a while. From what I hear, this place can be pretty hoppin', and were I from around here, I'd try it again at a more popular hour. read more

The food was amazing - I was actually laughing with pure unadulterated joy during much of meal, just because I was so happy with the tastes I was experiencing. And there were about 10 other things that I wanted to try on the menu (I can often only find one or two things that I would order at any given restaurant), so I will definitely be going back. I remember this place when it first opened years ago. At that time the food was pretty good and the restaurant had a nice loungy atmosphere. This time around, the atmosphere was quite lacking. There was no music playing through the speakers in the restaurant area, only on the bar side, which could be heard very faintly. I don't expect to hear music in every restaurant, but the problem here is that the acoustics were terrible without any music playing in the background, and all you could hear was the drone and rumblings of the other patrons at various tables. For a place that markets itself as upscale Asian dining, I would have expected the owners to put more thought into atmosphere and ambiance. As far as food is concerned, I was extremely disappointed. I love seafood, so I ordered the Seafood Hotpot, among the highest priced on the menu ($18). When the dish came, it tasted very bland and could have actually used more salt. The only thing that saved the flavor for me was the spice tray on the side, from I which I applied generously to eliminate the blandness. The hotpot had a lot of steamed vegetables, which is good, but only included 2 small shrimp, 2 tiny mussels, and some squid and very small scallops. There was also only a minute, almost symbolic smattering of clear noodles at the very bottom of the bowl. If I'm paying $18 for a seafood dish I expect a lot more seafood than that, and some noodles. I told our waitress about this and she was very nice, offering to fix it. A couple minutes later she brought a small plate with some more seafood to add to my soup, but I honestly felt short changed and taken advantage of by the restaurant. They crammed a bunch of steamed vegetables into the Seafood Hotpot while the seafood was almost completely absent, thinking I wouldn't notice. This is a pretty shady practice - if they want to save money and skimp on seafood, they should charge $7 or $8 for the bland soup, not $18! The quality of Jasmine 26 has gone down, in many respects. Even the Hue Tea I ordered from the bar, which is supposed to be a version of Long Island Iced Tea, was weak and tasted like it had almost no alcohol. For some real authentic pho and other soups I would suggest any of the other Vietnamese places on Nicollet, where you will find more meat or seafood in your bowl and richer flavors at half the price of Jasmine 26. P.S. I've never seen any other Vietnamese restaurant charging for sprouts, including them in the description of the dish on the menu as a selling point. Jasmine 26 does it. read more

Came here for a late night bite on a Saturday. The place was pretty empty which was great for us, maybe not so for them. Was nice to grab some food and drinks and be able to hear each other. I would have never thought the space was as nice as it was judging from the outside. Great music on as well with some RJD2, telepopmusik, portishead, etc. Our server was new but did a great job. Food was good. The happy hour specials made it a great value though I may have a different opinion had I paid full price. I liked the sri racha fried rice. Would go back and try more. read more

went to jasmine for dinner with ronnie (see review below) and a few others. just like his review, he ordered the salt and pepper tofu, and his wife ordered the spicy beef salad. it was a really nice place, ambience was amazing, but in terms of food, i think it was a little too fusion or generic for my preference of vietnamese food. it took me a while to decide what i wanted because if it wasn't a fusion dish, it didn't look too impressive. i ordered the "shaken beef" (which i enjoyed and do recommend: cubed beef was very tender and nicely seasoned), but it was like black pepper beef or mongolian beef that i could get in a much larger portion at an asian restaurant. so i guess food was good, maybe not worth the price, but would only come back if i were craving fusion. read more

This was the best VietNamese I have had. Even better yet, I am a VEGAN and had nearly the entire menue to choose from. The wait staff said that just about any item could be made VEGAN. There were about 50 of us that stormed the place at about 10pm on a Saturday night and the Service was superb. They said it may be slow due to short kitchen staff, but I would never have known, It was fast. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu. I had the Vegetable PHO with mock duck and tofu. Also shared mock duck spring rolss with yummy peanut sauce. The salt and pper tofu was light and delicious. The value was excellent. This restaurant is always a great experience. The owners are always working and are doing whatever they can to make your evening a success. Our favorite appetizer is the salt and pepper tofu. If you aren't into tofu, we also have enjoyed many of the meat/seafood options. The drinks are great. Every single one we've tried has been exceptional. The margaritas - yum! The ginger fizz is the best ginger drink I've had in a long time. As far as entrees go, everything is reasonably priced, and we've tried about a dozen different things between the two of us. I would say for meat-eaters, any shrimp dish, or the ribs are great choices. For vegetarians, if you don't see what you want on the menu, just ask. Many of the entrees are easily converted to veg. Went here with Mumsy, yums! We tried the coconut cream puffs/rangoon, whatever, with pineapple sauce, quite good! I got some kind of peanut/spicy thing. They get a star taken away for giving me half fried tofu when I asked for steamed and for not too many veggies in the meal. My mom and cousin like their food as well. Fantastic lunch spot. I've been eating at Jasmine Deli for 6 or 7 years, and never thought of trying the sister restaurant out. Currently working on a weekly rendezvous with this gem, and hope to continue the affair indefinitely. Their lunch special offers $3 beers (Surly, Summit, Saporro, and Bells included), as well as lunch sized portions of menu faves. Great staff and attentive owners. Highly recommended. I recently had lunch at Jasmine 26 and was very disappointed in the spicy beef noodle soup dish I had. It wasn't flavorful or spicy and the beef seemed undercooked. In the past I've only gotten Pho takeout from there, and although it's good it's not as cheap as some of the neighboring Vietnamese joints on eat street. I would pass on Jasmine 26 except for the excellent happy hour specials at lunch and after 9pm. read more

When you enter an eatery and the owner yells out your name to greet you, then you're a regular. Yup, that's me. Needless to say, the staff are quick with a joke and a menu suggestion. I cannot put down the Rice Crepe, Tamarind Soup or Lemongrass Mock Duck to save my life. They're that good! Try the papaya salad veganized, I'd order that again to change my night up. Half off on bottle of sake for happy hour means you better bring along a couple friends. That's another beautiful aspect of this place, their happy hour menu has different items from their regular one! Having organized more group events there than I can count, you won't be disappointed. read more

Can u say "best mango sticky rice ever"? Came for late night happy hour so we could sit outside for one more time before the winter sets in. Tried the wings they were just ok . Wontons were good but don't think they had coconut in them. (note you need to ask for them because they are not on the late night happy hour menu but they do let you special order them but we figured this out later) Lemongrass salad is huge enough for two large plates and the sauce actually was spicy. The tempura yams were just so so. All of this(prior to the sticky rice) would have garnered 3 or 4 stars but when u add the rock star waiter(David)and the best ever sticky rice it bumped it up to 5 stars. Jasmine 26 has a delicious lemongrass salad and mock duck spring rolls. The waiter was prompt and polite. The space was much nicer than it looked from the outside and I'd love to go back during happy hour. The only issue was the limited parking, but that's an overall Eat Street problem. This place is an overlooked gem. I've eaten here many times before but never yelped about it (not sure why-it's definitely worthy!). I just had to write and say how delightful my lunch was that I had last week. I ordered an appetizer of fresh mock duck spring rolls and they were so delicate and so amazingly fresh tasting - easily the best in the Cities. I also had a bowl of the curry soup. At just $4.50, this has to be one of the best deals around. The curry flavor was spot on and the vegetables and chicken were perfectly tender. Oh, and it came with a baguette for dipping. I'm seeing myself stopping in A LOT once the weather gets cooler as this is the absolute perfect cold weather meal :) read more

Absolutely terrific food and ambiance. Start with spring rolls, egg rolls, salt and pepper tofu, chicken satay. All are excellent, a cut above what you'll get elsewhere. The lotus root salad and apple salad are also ridiculously tasty, bursting with complex fresh flavors and textures. For main courses, I can tell you the pho, basil noodles, pad thai, salt & pepper shrimp are all excellent. The grilled shrimp coconut milk noodles were mild and sweet. The space is sleek and airy, with plenty of space between tables. Great for a special date and friendly for families. Go to Jasmine 26. Yoi won't regret it. It's nice that they open late. But for the price point the food is at it not the best Vietnamese restaurant. The pho lacks flavor, and spring rolls is missing something. My new favorite place! My husband and I ate there last night and I am still thinking about their vegan pho. We eat dinner quite late and were pleasantly surprised to see they had a late night happy hour starting at 9pm. Our total bill including 2 appetizers and 2 large entrees was only $30! The service was great and the restaurant itself was nicely decorated and clean. BUT THE FOOD! The vegan eggrolls were amazing the bao was delicious. TOP 3 FAVORITE RESTAURANTS IN MINNEAPOLIS. Go here at least once every two weeks. The fam that owns it is the nicest group of people ever. I always get the veggie pho and salt n' pepper tofu. Their happy hour is super legit, and the food is amazing. The spices are on point, and the portions are HUGE. You really get a bang for your buck. I'd recommend this to anybody, real good for any dietary preference. The Lychee Sake is something I dream about. Definitely will continue going here all the time. read more
