Seems like DoorDash is their priority over walk-in customers. Seven people working on a Sunday afternoon, no walk-in customers except me in the place and I waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge I was standing there. They kept making sandwiches for the DoorDash slips coming out of the machine after I arrived. Not to mention, the bathroom was a mess - wet toilet paper sitting on the handrail with none in the dispenser, no soap and no paper towels. If I wasn't starving, I would have walked out. My first experience with Jersey Mike's Subs. The one in Hillsdale San Mateo is clean with friendly staffs, I got the Original Italian sub # 13 on white bread and it was delicious. Plenty of meat and cheese in it, veggies, mayo, oh and EVOO red wine vinegar. I've driven past Jersey mikes many times and truly thought it would be another subway and boy was I wrong. The sandwhich quality is definitely superb and so fresh. I always order online and the order is ready within the window they provide. I've had their cold sandwiches the Italian and provolone and Turkey both were a hit. the bread is crisp and tasty. There is also a good assortment of toppings including peppers, jalapeños etc. By default they add vinegar and olive oil which is a great touch BUT can make the sandwich soggy. If ordering to go, definitely try to eat it fairly soon after taking it home to avoid it being mushy. read more

Hands down best bang for your buck. I have eaten here two days in a row. First sandwich was the tuna and it was amazing. I still have taste bud memories of it. When Jersey Joe's in San Carlos was sold, and the new owners took Italian subs off the menu, I looked for a new place to get an old favorite. Jersey Mike's across from the mall to the rescue! As a former Jersey girl used to getting White House subs in my dad's home town of Atlantic City, I know how these are supposed to taste. Jersey Mike's is pretty darn good for California! On top of that, the customer service is always top notch. I am always acknowledged when I enter. The hustle behind the counter is impressive! Everyone there works hard to get all those sandwiches out the way they were ordered. I always leave a tip because this isn't always true elsewhere, and I appreciate the work ethic! Love the sandwiches but they need to figure out how to prioritize small in person orders over large delivery orders. This is the second time I have tried to go and had to leave because of a long wait time. I walked in last night and waited five minutes. I asked how much longer it might be as no one was in line ahead of me and was told likely another 10 minutes. They were making a very larger order. There were five delivery drivers waiting in the lobby. Love that they are getting that amount of business but I wanted one mini cold sandwich and should not have to wait 15-20 minutes for that. I don't care what people say, Jersey Joe's in San Carlos is terrible. Jersey Mike's Philly is 10x better. We order a giant and end up splitting it between 2 or 3 of us depending on how hungry we are. The price point is great, you get a sandwich for 2 people for $21.50 (doordash). The bread is always fresh, and most importantly, the meat is well seasoned and always plentiful. We do the same with the original Italian. I've never had a bad sandwich from this place, so they get a full 5 stars! read more

The people are friendly, but they all stand around making this quite possibly the slowest Jersey Mike's I've ever been to. I've been here twice now the first time I went in and ordered my sandwich. A bunch of people are standing around and it took like 15 minutes to get my sandwich made. The second time I ordered three sandwiches on the app and when I arrived 15 minutes later, my sandwiches were not ready so I sat in my car for another 15. Why is the service so slow here? I'm always up for a new sandwich place, and was excited to try this place, though I live nearby, somehow had never made it here. Gorgeous day, perfect for the their covered patio--It's an order at the counter and they make it on the spot, according to your specs. I got their tuna on herb parmesan roll (a mini) and my husband got their veggie with provolone on the same mini roll. I wanted so badly to love this place, and the people, all of them every single person was super friendly and warm, and accommodating, super service oriented and customer centric. But neither for me nor my husband, the sandwiches were not up to snuff--the tuna was gloppy and not varied or interesting enough, e.g. red onion, shallot, celery ... none of it was truly there, just full of mayo or smoother kind of look-alike dressing, bland and inedible. My husband's sandwich was just as uninspired, with tomato a bell pepper, provolone, with a bit of added lettuce, onion, etc. The sum was not more than its parts, and those parts were, to begin with, nothing to write home about. There's so many other sandwich place that come to mind that beats this place with one hand tied behind its back. It's really too bad because when I think of Mr. Pickles or Little Lucca or Mike's Love and Sandwiches or Togo's .... Fill in the blank with other local sandwich shops, they have crappy interiors, not appetizing. The only place I can think of with worse sandwiches is that Subway crap. But this place has a beautiful interior and exterior set up, a patio outside and in, also little table everywhere, just stunning. But the food, I'm not sure if they were having a bad off day, and maybe their sandwiches are better on another day? Not sure. A fast food sandwich place isn't the first thing that comes to mind when I think of a quick, cheap, and healthy lunch. I came here over the weekend and got the turkey & provolone in a BOWL. Basically, it was a base of shredded iceberg lettuce, turkey and provolone rolled up and sliced on top, with tomatoes, onions, oil/vinegar/herbs (Mike's way). It was really good! I would for sure get it again if I find myself back at Jersey Mikes. There bread is really good too, but if you're looking for something healthier and different, try a bowl! So we ordered eventually and the customers, like 7-8, got their orders before ours. And when I got mine, it turns out they forgot my partner's sandwich.
