A Jersey Mike's sub is a lesson in layers of acidity. I never thought I could like a cold deli sandwich, but the complexity of flavors won me over! My pick was the Club Supreme, which came with housemade roast beef, thinly sliced turkey breast, and bacon. The meats were definitely tasty and of high quality--the earthiness of the roast beef was a nice complement to the mild turkey and the crispy, thick, salty bacon, but the thing that made the sandwich for me was the "Mike's Way" seasoning: a combination of lettuce, tomato, onion, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and oregano, which added a bright, refreshing, acidic flavor to every bite! You can even add on more toppings, including banana peppers, dill pickles, jalapenos, and their amazing cherry pepper relish, all of which upped the ante even more in flavor and crunch! I got this sandwich on their classic white roll, which wasn't particularly memorable. My wife ordered the club sub. It comes with ham, turkey and smoke wood bacon. She was looking at potato chips when they asked if you want mayo with it. She looked at the bread and saw they put mayonnaise already and she said no. She got her sandwich and there was no bacon. When I asked the server, he said she didn't want mayo or bacon. Why would they ask if you want bacon. It's included in the sandwich. Why not ask if you want ham or turkey? That's also included. We came for a charitable cause on March 29. We will never go back. What a disappointment. I ordered #17 famous Philly steak and what I received was dry meat with bacon, jalapeño peppers and no melted cheese inside and the bread used had this cheesy crusted topping. Unfortunately this review is not a good one. I've eaten at jersey mikes plenty of times and have always had excellent experiences and have referred my friends to them too! But this time just really disappointed me. I went out of the box and decided to order a wrap rather then my typical #7 and what I got was a complete joke! The tortilla was soggy with Caesar dressing dripping all over, hardly any chicken and it was cut at a sharp angle all in all it was extremely hard to hold and not appetizing at all. My family and I came here for a quick sandwich lunch and I am not disappointed at the foods. I had the Kahuna Cheese Steak and it was a decent size with enough meat and other ingredients. I liked the jalapeño which gave it a nice kick of spice. Good enough flavor and fast. They had a parking lot which is plus. There is not much of a service here. Also there is no baby changing station which I find very family UNfriendly. Big hassle for me today since my baby needed a change and no accommodation. Bummer. read more

Basic sandwiches, not much flavor. If you order online everything, including the signs in the store, will tell you to wait at the order pickup shelf. If you do that you will never, ever get your food. You could probably stand in the store all day and never be acknowledged. i come to jersey mikes almost every weekend and all i have to say is every single employee who works in this store a raise! employees are busting their *ss nonstop every time i go in making sandwiches nonstop, yes if u go at peak lunch hours on the weekend ofc there might be a wait but the workers are working as hard as they can. sandwich is great every time and ingredients are fresh, interior is clean and employees are helpful and pleasant. the employees here deserve more recognition ! read more

I have always been an avide customer of Ike's Place in San Mateo. Great sandwiches, great staff. I thought I would try Jersey Mike's Subs by signing up for a free birthday sandwich. I went there on a Friday at around noon. I am not naming names because people do work as a team. Guess this incident was partially my fault. I went into Jersey Mike's Sub, not knowing their process. The cashier was standing there, so I went to her to order. I told her I wanted to use my birthday coupon. I showed her my coupon and started to order. She directed me towards the other side of the room to the order line. I waited, then she came to take my order. She asked for the order number of the sandwich I wanted. I gave her the name. She looked so annoyed at me. I, then, gave her the number. She then asked if I wanted regular or giant. I said, "I can get the giant with the coupon?" She said, "yes". I said, "Then giant". When I went to pay, the cashier, now a he, said $10+, I said, "I thought it was free with the birthday coupon." He said, "The sandwich is only for regular." I mentioned I asked her. She turned around and said, "I didn't see your coupon." I have to admit that I should have read the coupon before ordering, but I think customer service could have been better. I am sure birthday coupons have been used before. To top things, he, the cashier gave me my sandwich. I said thank you when I got it, but I didn't get a word back. Save yourself from this place. 1st of all its a glorified over-priced subway with an assembly line of poor produce. If you don't believe me look at the quality of the produce when you walk in. The tomatoes were one day from rotting. 2ndly look at the restroom. You can tell how clean the kitchen is by the cleanliness of the bathroom. Lastly the customer service is not up to par. Quality sub with fresh ingredients! Being a vegetarian, go to is #14 The Veggie cold sub. It includes swiss, provolone, & green bell peppers. Ask for it Mike's Way to enjoy our freshly sliced onions, shredded lettuce, and perfectly ripened tomatoes, with spices and the juice. Plenty of parking and fair amount of seating, but don't dine in if it's raining or really cold outside, seating area isn't heated. I visited this location of Jersey Mikes along with a colleague from work as this was his favorite sandwich place. It is located in San Mateo on El Camino Real in a small plaza that also hosts a super market with a small parking lot so parking is tight but available. During the peak lunch hour there was a line 5-6 people deep. I was advised by my colleague that sandwiches here come in mini, regular, giant, as a wrap or in a bowl and that a regular is enough for a meal. Also that you could customize what you want in your sandwich or simply go Mike's way which will get you standard fillings and dressings. After perusing the menu for some time I decided to get a regular Club Supreme ($8.75) which is roast beef, turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese and mayo so I dropped the bacon. After ordering it was almost 20 minutes before we got our sandwiches. The sandwich itself was pretty good. I generally like my bread to be toasted (I'm not sure if they toast the bread here) but I still liked the sandwich. The meat was not piled high but there was sufficient amount of it. Overall I liked what I ate. After my first visit I've been back a handful of times. During subsequent visits I've tried the Turkey Breast & Provolone ($8.25), Roast Beef & Provolone ($8.50) cold sandwiches and the Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak ($8.50), Grilled Pastrami Reuben ($8.50) and Big Kahuna Cheese Steak ($8.50) from their hot sandwiches. My ultimate favorite has been their Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak ($8.50) sandwich which I guess I've gotten more than 5 times. Price wise they are definitely more expensive than your local Subway but slightly less than what you would pay at a specialized sandwich shop. Service is an area that they need to improve. I've dealt with multiple people behind the counter who have all been standoffish and don't come across as even remotely helpful. They are also very slow. Their biggest problem is lack of consistency. The same sandwich if ordered on different days tastes different depending on the person running the station (specially the grill). This to me is very frustrating and keeps me away as I don't know if I'm going to luck out on a specific day. Lastly lack of focus on small things like neatly packing the sandwiches, handing over greasy foil wrapped sandwiches to customers and the like are also off-putting. Looking at the overall package of food quality, service, and value for money, I think that 3.5 stars correctly reflects the rating of this place. I'll be generous and round that up to 4. read more

Visited a location in San Mateo, I am a regular here and I have mostly had a positive experience except this time. The wait time is almost longer than stated on the app.i asked the staff if there is a reason the orders take longer and another employee named Ashley from behind the counter in a loud voice said we have ordered don't you see? She is very unprofessional and rude. If she is not happy about people placing orders then she should find another job. I had to ask her name three-time and she looked into my eyes and did not answer. Today myself and my daughter went into the store for lunch. We ordered our sandwiches which were absolutely amazing tasting I mean you really can't go wrong with Jersey Mike's. When we went to pay for the food my bank card wasn't working due to some transactions not posting. The team of Victor and Phillip could have told us sorry but no money no food! They did the exact opposite! They assured us it was not a problem and that we could pay the next time we came in, which we do frequent this store often! I was blown away at the level of professionalism they showed and also telling us thAt these things happen and not to worry about it! I was a bit embarrassed by what had happed and I felt bad but they assured me that these things happened. Service is horrible. Ordered the food online was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Cool . Drive there and it wasn't ready. Was rudely told they would let me know when it was ready. After waiting for 10 mins. Noticed. They were working on the orders of people who came into order while pretty much ignoring the orders that came in online. They would put the orders into a paper bag and then move on. There was at least 30 paper bags. That were just sitting there. It wasn't until I talked to someone and asked them about my order that they decided to make the sandwich. I've ordered from them before with no problems. Not sure what's happened. Why they decided to ignore online ordering. If I hadn't paid in advanced I would have walked away. Food was fine but a little under seasoned. Needed a little more vinegar. Jersey Mike's have been popping up all over the Bay Area it seems like... people raving left to right, but I had yet to experience it until tonight, and I have to say... the hype is real! #17 Philly Cheese Steak - how is this so good?? Puts every cheese steak I've had to shame annnnnd further corroborates that there are way better ingredients than cheese whiz. #18 Chicken Parm - I had this VIA their clever and low-carb friendly dining option "Sub in a Tub" LOL and I would order it the same exact way again, so great on its own it doesn't need the bread! #9 Club Supreme - has roast beef, turkey AND bacon. With no shame it comes with mayo and is GOOD. I don't know what it is, but it's on point! On top of the well prepared subs, their vegetables are fresh and the meats are great and not scary or slimy (sorry Subway, but that's a real situation) and the bread seems SUPER fresh.
