I have only ordered take away from Jiayuan Dumpling House so I cannot speak to the dine-in experience. The delivery order is always packaged well and the food arrives as pristine as it would if delivered straight to my table inside the restaurant. My wife and I have tried all of the dumplings. Each one is delicious, but a surprising favorite is the Chicken & Corn dumplings. We've also enjoyed various hot dishes, noodle dishes, and soups. The Cucumber Salad adds a nice cool, acidic crunch to complement the other rich and spicy dishes. We have not been disappointed by anything we have tried. read more

Pan fried dumplings, not bad. However traditional Chinese dumplings are boiled, not pan-fried. So my bad for going in with the disillusion of being served boiled dumplings. We overlooked the menu, the 2 characters - boiled (煮) and pan-fried (煎) are kind of similar if you don't look at it carefully. So just a word of caution, the house does NOT serve boiled dumplings, only pan-fried, like potstickers (or gyoza). The dumpling skins are a tad on the thick side. So we went to jiayuan dumpling house. It was crazy busy. The to go order wait was 1hr 30 min at 5pm and after a bit they stopped taking to go orders. We ended up sitting indoors to get the kids food first and ours to-go. The dumplings were solid but not sure if they live up to the hype. We tried the chicken corn, pork Napa and shrimp chicken. The chicken corn was my favorite. We also got the stir fry noodle and the poached beef in chili sauce. They both were delicious. The beef in chilli sauce was damn good. Ask for a side of their spicy sauce to mix with the dumpling sauce if you like extra heat. 4.5 stars - Eggplant with Szechuan garlic sauce. Delicious! These can be a bit oily, so be aware. Occasionally these come out a bit undercooked but throw them in the microwave for a minute or two and you'll finish them off. 4 stars - Hot & sour soup. Much more flavor than the egg flower soup. Give it a try. Staff continues to be very friendly and food is prepared on time. I'm chalking my first review regarding the wait time up to growing pains since the restaurant was fairly new at that point. Although certain plates can be overpriced, I've found the dishes I love from here and will continue to order from this cute intimate shop. My friend did not like the broth at all. I was surprised that they used salted small shrimps for the broth but for me, it had a nice umami flavor. We came once before while they were opening and they only had dumplings to start. Today we had noodles and three types of dumpling. Very interesting combo of pork, shitake and string beans. They make the dumplings to order here so they come out hot and perfectly done. It's a very small restaurant, but good parking and they serve at the table if you eat in. What a great find right for South Redondo! Saves me a trip from trekking all the way east for some quality Chinese food. Dumpling House offers excellent options if craving some quick and easy Chinese comfort. Since this was our first time here, we tried several items, left stuffed, and took home plenty of leftovers. We tried two different dumplings and they were both good (it's nice that they offer servings of either 6 or 12 per flavor). They are large dumplings, stuffed to the max, steaming hot, and pan fried to get that delicious golden, crunchy bottom. We also had two main entrees and a scallion pancake. Everything seemed very fresh and came to our table piping hot. Note their menu online is not quite what they have in the restaurant, but there are several pictures on Yelp of their latest in-house menu. Food: -Pork & napa cabbage dumpling: the pork is very flavorful. I didn't really notice the napa cabbage, but I assume it provided a texture compliment. This was probably our favorite item we ordered because it was so juicy and yummy; it didn't even need the dipping vinegar. Next time I think we'll try the other pork dumpling. -Bok choy, shiitake, carrot dumpling (veg): this was good, but not as juicy and flavorful as the pork dumpling. It has a more vegetal taste, with mostly flavoring from the bok choy. It was good with the dipping vinegar and an excellent vegetarian dumpling. -Scallion pancake: this is just what you'd expect with nothing particularly special going on here. It was good and simple. One serving comes with two pancakes that are about 8 inches in diameter and cut into 8 triangles. I would probably pass on this next time because their other stuff is so tasty and interesting. -Veg mapo tofu: this was fantastic and had so much flavor, I was surprised it was a vegetarian version! It has a nice spice level to it without being overly spicy. They use very soft tofu and it just melts in your mouth. The serving is large and could be eaten as a main shared between two people along with a serving of dumplings and you'd be set. Make sure to order a side or two of steamed rice because it does not come with the entree. -Tasty spicy chicken: this dish totally surprised me because I thought it'd be fried chicken tossed in a sauce, but it is actually just battered and fried and served like that with chopped and fried chili peppers and green onions. That being said, it was delicious!! The batter is so flavorful and spiced perfectly. The chili peppers are also really tasty to eat along with the chicken because they are kind of crunchy. Service: excellent! It appears to be a family-owned restaurant and the woman who helped us was friendly and attentive. We arrived around 5pm and there was a steady stream of people in and out (lots of take out orders) and the restaurant itself maintained close to capacity seating. It's rather small, so I wonder how it goes at prime time. They have a small shared parking lot that seems adequate, but again I didn't go during prime lunch or dinner hours. Note that they are closed between 3-4pm, but otherwise open at normal times. read more

Their menu is focused, offers a good variety of Northern Chinese dishes and highlights their homemade dumplings. ALL dumplings showcase their "dedication, love, and high skill of artistry" but my favorite are by far their Shrimp, Chicken, and Carrot as well as their Pork and Napa Dumplings. So hate to write a negative review on a new restaurant, but hoping this helps them moving forward. Had such high hopes when I read about them in Eater. There's not any good Chinese restaurants near me and since I was in the neighborhood and had a hankering for Moo Goo Gai Pan, I wanted to give them a try. PROS: The staff is nice, professional and gracious and the food was seasoned well and had good flavor overall. But... CONS: 1) Prices are quite high to begin with. 2) Your entre will not include rice....that's extra! 3) They don't include descriptions of many dishes on their menu, so I had no idea my MGGP would include green bell peppers, which I hate. I've never had those in this dish ever before. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but by the time I picked all of the peppers out, my pricey dish ($16) just shrank by one third...really not happy about that! I hope they will rethink their rice policy, include item descriptions on the menu and maybe offer rotating daily specials to help with the high regular pricing for those more on a budget. read more

Located in a small strip mall in torrance. Came in on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy. Luckily they had seating. Despite how busy it was the server was very sweet. My favorite menu for the evening was the scallion pancake. My second favorite was the beef noodles. The beef was nice and tender but it was a little on the salty side. Poached fish was ok. The texture was amazing and I didn't mind the oil but it was lacking in flavor. Same with the dumplings the texture was good but the flavor wasn't enough for me. (To be fair I did have high expections because dumpling is in the name). Price was decent for what you get. All in all it was nice to try. read more
