Was driving by so decided to stop in and try some dumplings. Service was excellent, dining room was clean and bright. I was surprised at the extensive menu. I was only expecting dumplings, but there was all types of dishes on the menu in addition to the demplings. I started with a can of diet coke. I ordered a 6 piece pork, shitake mushroom pan fried dumpling and a 6 piece shrimp and carrot pan fried dumpling. Unfortunately I couldn't taste much difference in the two different dumplings. I might return to try their won ton soup.

I accidentally ended up here instead of a different dumpling house but just like me, it was a happy mistake. I ended up coming really close to closing time but the service was still fast. Food was HOT & of course made to order. I did burn my tongue.... But it's okay I had a cold Thai tea to help suppress that burn. Thai tea 4/5 -- on the sweeter side for me. But still carries that robust Thai flavor to it. Spicy chicken 5/5 -- huge kick to it. Looks innocent... is deadly. I loved the spiciness. I'm all about spice so this was really nice to try. Shrimp fried rice 5/5 -- I can't believe a shrimp fried this rice... it's splendid. Uh-mah-zing. We love her. Perfect shrimp to rice ratio. Not too salty. Perfect amount of umami 12pc shrimp dumplings-- 4/5 oooo they were HOT. Flavor could be improved a bit, but otherwise texture and quality was delightful. Parking is in the plaza. It's a small place maybe 10 tables max? They have a single use restroom as well.

We wish we knew about this spot earlier. The restaurant is smaller with indoor seating and they also do takeout orders via third party apps. We liked all the dishes that we ordered, but the Fried Fish Sautéed in Garlic was the table's favorite. It's fried to perfection and is a flakey white fish. The Mapo Tofu is heavy on the ginger flavor and not too spicy. The dumplings do have a thicker wrapping, but it is so juicy that I feel like it's mandatory. The green beans do have a little spice to it, but it's a great veggie dish. The workers are all so friendly and nice, good spot for family style meals! ig: @cravingswithcat

Gotta show this cozy mom & pop shop some love. Small store, BIG flavors! This place is well known for the pan-fried dumplings. They're all great, but I will say my favorite filling is the pork and napa cabbage. Even if you get 6pcs, each dumpling is huge and generously stuffed. I've never had any issues with the service. It's certainly superb for a local business. Staff takes the time to check in on your table multiple times even after you've received your food to make sure all is well and that your drink cups are full. Other menu standouts: - Fried Fish Fillet appetizer (lots of pieces for the price) - Hot & Sour Soup + Chicken w/corn egg drop soup (I adore both of these and tend to order them when I'm sick to soothe my soul) - Mongolian Beef (perfectly spicy + meat is tender, but I wish there was a more beef than onion. Also would like to see a touch more green onions sprinkled in) Lastly, the parking lot is a bit cramped. I've always been able to find a spot, but it largely depends what time you stop by.

I've heard a couple of great reviews about this place so I decided to give it a whirl. It's good but it's not amazing. We ordered the following: Orange chicken: it's made with chicken breast and you can actually taste the chicken as opposed to some of the other places where all you can taste is the breading. You can taste the chicken"orange"!in the orange chicken. However the overall texture was not amazing. Still I'll give it a 3.5 Pork and Napa dumplings: it's a dumpling house so yes these are good. I still think dtf is better though. 3.5 stars Scallion pancake: mediocre. I wouldn't order this again. Lacked flavor and flakiness. 2.5 stars Thai Tea: I don't have a photo of this but it was decent. Not a lot of Asian places will offer free refills let alone Thai Iced Tea, yet this place does. 4 stars The customer service is polite but not very attentive. It's also a small location. Considering the area, I see why people like this place though. I'd go back but I'll probably order something different to try.

Jiayuan Dumpling House in Torrance is a small spot with good food and great customer service. I'm not sure if our waiter was the owner, but he was very kind, attentive, and made great recommendations. We tried the chicken and corn dumplings and they were good. We chose those over the beef dumplings because the waiter mentioned the beef filling has changed to beef and celery instead of carrot and onion. I'm not a fan of celery so we'll try it next time! We also ordered the Kung Pao chicken since it's my favorite dish at most Asian restaurants, but I'd skip this one here as it was too salty and the water chestnuts tasted off, reason I won't give it a perfect score. The standout dish was the chow fun, which we ordered based on the waiter's recommendation. It was the best dish we had and one of the best I've had in a while. Prices are reasonable, the place is small (larger parties would be a tight fit), and I'd definitely come back again!!

Good dumplings, good price, good delivery food option In cali for a vacation, and looked for some lunch. Yelp has this place as a local hidden gem, so me and the missus ordered some dumplings to try. Delivery took about an hour. No cutlery provided, but the food was hot even after a lengthy transport. Took a pic from the pool then dug in. The dumplings had a nice thin wrapper and the juices from the cooked meats made them similar to soup dumplings. The pork and nappa were tasty but greasy. Pork was seasoned with aromatic spices which complimented the earthy nappa cabbage. The chicken and corn was heavily corny, which was slightly sweet but not the freshest. The chicken got lost, but there was still flavor. The beef and scallion was the weakest bite, very tender, just lacking flavor. Really needed the sauce to make it shine. Price was very reasonable for the portions, quality was there, and they make a pretty good dumpling. This place is a good choice for those traveling and want something delivered.

ive had this place saved for awhile now. decided to order jiayuan dumpling house for CNY. i went in to place an order for pick up at a later time. the place was decorated with CNY red decor! its a smaller restaurant with about 8-10 tables. i ordered: Beef Onion Carrot Dumplings Chicken Corn Dumplings Bok Choy, Shiitake, and Carrot Dumplings Beef with Eggplant in Szechuan Garlic Sauce Sweet and Sour Chicken Vegetarian Mapo Tofu - Mild Vegetable Stir Fry they are known for their pan fried dumplings. so i was excited to try out a couple different ones. i came back around 530pm and my order was ready, they were pretty busy as ppl were out celebrating the start of lunar year. everything was so good. my fam really enjoyed it all. my mom loved the eggplant dish and the mapo tofu. my favorite was the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken and corn dumplings. parking: smaller parking lot. but no issues.

THE BEST VEGAN CHINESE FOOD IN THE SOUTH BAY! Full stop! This restaurant goes above and beyond with service, food quality+ speed, and vibe. This family run establishment adds a personal touch to every meal, greeting you always with a warm smile and a "good to see you again!" I've tried all the vegan options here, which are plentiful! Highlights include the veggie dumplings (the sauce is to die for), the green beans (a MUST!), the vegetarian mapo tofu (it's vegan and spicy! The peppercorn gives that unique cold spice that I can't help but crave!) Luckily beyond that they offer noodles, soups, and scallion pancakes as well! They are incredibly adaptable and serve the food within 10 minutes of ordering! The menu has a whole "vegetarian" section as well! THIS is the perfect spot to try food within your meat-eating friends since the meat options; from what I heard, are incredible as well. That makes it so that neither party has to sacrifice taste, enjoyment, or preference. Give this place a try if you know what's good for you! #vegan

Located in the strip mall, next door to Fed Express with a shared parking lot. Very nice and accommodating couple running the counter. Nice indoor dining area with a few chairs for to go orders. I ordered the pumpkin patties, shrimp, chicken & carrots dumplings, pork & Napa dumplings and the scallion pancake. I was told the #1 dumpling is pork & Napa and #2 is shrimp, chicken & carrot. I ordered my food to go to share with the family. The dumplings were a good size and stuffed well. The shrimp in the combo dumpling were the tiny shrimp and I assumed it would be minced shrimp incorporated into the meat mixture. I could see not taste any carrots. Pork & Napa dumplings were ok. Pumpkin patties has a mochi texture, similar to the fried sesame balls but no filling and no sesame seeds. They were fried and I think would have been better with a stuffing like Ham Siu Gok (Chinese. IYKYK). Scallion pancake was thick and didn't have a lot of scallions. I heated them up when I got home to get them more crispy. The order came with a vinegar/soy sauce and a sweet chili dipping sauce. Small portion of sauces with the size of the order. Thanks for the hospitality. Perhaps next time I will try any of the other items. Ok, bye.

I had had this place bookmarked for a while now and finally decided to try it out. We ordered delivery so I can't speak to the vibe or service of the restaurant. We did, however, order a variety of things from the menu. Mapo tofu with minced pork: extremely oily but tasty Pork and napa cabbage dumplings: disappointed in lack of flavor, tasted completely unsalted. Veggie dumplings: lacked flavor Orange chicken: heavily breaded and chicken inside was a bit stringy. House stir-fry noodles: a bit oily, most of the noodles were broken and it felt like it was 50% cabbage and 50% noodles. Scallion pancakes: literally zero flavor. Zero. Overall, pretty disappointing. Especially because a lot of the oil dripped into the delivery bag and made a mess. We didn't finish anything and it kinda felt like a waste of calories. I'm glad we tried it but won't be ordering again.

Classic sit down Szechuan style Chinese where the crispy dumplings are plentiful and proteins are nicely doused in Red40. Love this Beijing Beef style sweet and sour with the perfect crunch of the cream cheese wontons. Was surprised that the noodles were so flavorful! Usually they're hit or miss and mostly used to absorb other flavors.

Tried this place a couple of times. The first time was delivery and the 2nd time I dined in. There's plenty of parking in the shopping plaza and the restaurant is decent sized. The only minor issue I have is that they close at 9pm (8:30pm Sunday) which is quit early especially on weekends. But it's family owned so no complaints. I've tried the dumplings and veggie fried noodles and both are pretty good. The food is greasy and oily and quit tasty so you can't go wrong with it. What shocked me was when I dined in and saw that they have thai ice tea for $2.69 and it's free refill 0~0 wow that's an amazing deal!!! Everything else felt a bit marked up but it's probably the area I'm in. Service is great and it's close by so I'll be back again :)

DineLA Food & Drink Order ($15): Breakfast Plate: Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes with 2 Bacon Strips & 2 Eggs (sunny-side up) $15.95 Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte $6.95 Server/Bartender: Andrew I have been a long time fan of Kirari West Bake Shop when it opened with much fanfare as a 100% gluten-free Japanese bakery with treats that defy the common undesirable traits of gluten-free goods: dense, dry, &/or gritty. When Kirari West Bake Shop (refer to Review #290) opened sister bakery, Confections by Kirari West, a couple of years ago, I bookmarked them for a visit but didn't get around to it until I saw them on 2026 DineLA. The confections bakery also sits in King Harbor Plaza, but south of its sister between Glaze Craze & King Harbor Spa, serving all-day breakfast, burger, sandwiches, & pizzas with teas, coffees, & smoothies. According to Andrew, KWBS bakes bread for CBKW & CBKW bakes treats & doughnuts for KWBS. Still not quite understanding the difference because KWBS also serves breakfast but in sandwiches & french toasts, & paninis, sandwiches, & salads. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Initially focused solely on baked goods: artisan breads, scones, & Bake-At-Home gluten-free flour mixes, CBKW has evolved their menu to include sandwiches, pizza, quinoa bowls, & smoothies. The DineLA menu offered 3 options, & I deliberated between pancakes & chicken burger. I chose the Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes because they looked fluffy & divine in the owner pic; it includes 2 Bacon Strips & 2 Eggs (cooked sunny-side up). And picked an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte with less ice for my drink. It was quiet for an early lunch, & a couple of ladies walked in after I finished ordering. The bakery cafe has its cozy charm with a lovely black & white mural on the right long wall that's great for selfies or social posts. There's 4 2-tops & counter seating facing the plaza/parking lot, no restroom (assuming sister KWBS will let you use theirs), & plenty of parking though it'll be challenging during lunch & dinner rush with so many eateries in the plaza. Andrew makes an awesomely refreshing Strawberry Matcha Latte that rivals those from boba shops! Balanced sweetness with earthy, grassy matcha & generous dollops of real, sweet strawberry purée... soooooo good! Though smaller & a bit pricier than boba shops, it's a top-notch drink. My pancakes came shortly after; smells great but looks nothing like the pic, not fluffy, not golden. I love eating pancakes no matter the time of day, & these Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes had comforting notes of cinnamony warmth with random sweet bursts of blueberries. The texture is notably moist & airy, & not reminiscent of typical gluten-free foods which are dry & dense. Typical bacon & eggs, nothing unusual... I prefer thick cut bacon & on the crisper side, but the eggs were perfectly cooked, the whites were set with a runny yolk & crisp, brown edges. It was just enough to satisfy my hunger & quench my thirst. I'm lucky that I don't have any food allergies or restrictions. People with celiac disease require a gluten-free diet, & cooking/baking challenges stem from the lack of gluten for moisture, elasticity, & structure. Customers should know that Confections by Kirari West is a dedicated gluten-free bakery, so there's no worries of cross-contamination. I don't know how Chef Hiro Saito creates this tasty, gluten-free deliciousness here & KWBS... he uses high quality rice flour instead of wheat to create his delectable pastries. On 07/2025, CBKW along with sister KWBS were both designated as a Blue Zones Project Approved Restaurant. This means they're certified to offer healthier, longevity-focused menu options based on plant-slant & whole-food principles like those in Okinawa, Japan or Sardinia, Italy. Quality ingredients... craftsmanship... & sincerity... check, check, & check!! Yeah, I got you in my corner Confections by Kirari West! Today I arrived about ten minutes before 8:00 a.m. We were the only customers present besides one waitress and a male employee. He wore a black hat, had a short blonde beard, wire-rimmed glasses, and small-gauge black earring plugs. This employee demonstrated no knowledge of ADA or California service animal laws. Given the number of seniors and service-animal users in Old Torrance, staff handling the front should be familiar with these requirements. He asked me to sit on the patio. I requested an indoor booth instead. He then asked for papers or identification for the service dog. I explained that no such documentation is required under the law and that fraudulent service animals often carry papers. I informed him that businesses may ask only two questions: (1) whether the animal is a service dog required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task the dog has been trained to perform. He continued to raise health-code concerns and responded dismissively. He eventually seated us in a booth. Service after seating was poor. The waitress ignored our table for approximately seventeen minutes. She did not inform us that menus were already on the table. She later set down waters without comment and left. A young male employee refilled our drinks first. The waitress returned to the table only a couple of times and appeared only at the end when she noticed money on the table for the check. We were seated away from other guests and largely ignored throughout the meal, which made the experience awkward. We waited an extended period for the check. When an elderly woman and her daughter arrived at the front door, we stood to leave. We waited another two to three minutes with payment in hand before placing the money on the table and departing. The restroom was filthy. There were no paper towels for drying hands. Toilet paper was on the floor, soap was on the ground, and toilet-seat covers were scattered and torn from the wall dispenser. As we appeared to be the first customers to use the restroom that morning, the condition suggests it had not been cleaned from the previous evening. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III, restaurants are places of public accommodation and must allow service dogs to accompany individuals with disabilities in all areas open to the public, including indoor seating. Staff may ask only two questions when it is not obvious that a dog is a service animal: (1) whether the dog is a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task the dog has been trained to perform. Businesses may not require documentation, identification cards, certification, vests, or any form of paperwork. They also may not inquire about the nature of the person's disability or demand that the animal demonstrate its tasks. California law, including the Disabled Persons Act (Civil Code §§ 54-54.2), reinforces these federal protections. Local health codes do not override the ADA right of access for a properly controlled service dog in dining areas. The manner in which we were greeted immediately set a negative tone for the entire meal. Although my companion and I enjoyed each other's company, that was the only positive aspect of the visit. The initial confrontation over my service dog, followed by prolonged neglect from the waitress, made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Throughout the meal I also felt meticulously watched, as if the staff were waiting for us to finish quickly and leave. As a result, I was unable to fully enjoy or finish my meal.
