I've only been there a couple times, but I must say that the Mongolian beef is so good!! Just watch out for the little spicy peppers. The sauce is to die for! As far as the dumplings, I've only tried the pork and veggie, I personally like the skin a bit thinner, but my son liked it. I wish they would offer the beef noodle soup for dinner, it's only available go at lunch time. My son gets really excited they have the noodles but always disappointed that we go for dinner. I'll have to go back to try more of their menu and I'll update the review later. read more

I was in the mood for dim sums today and I was treated great! Yelped "dim sums near me" and found this small restaurant. We had cucumber salad and Chinese scallion bread as appetizers and it was so good! Cucumbers salad sesame oil dressing was so refreshing. I tasted some acid (rice vinegar?), marvelous combination! Scallion bread is so so good, comfort food which I needed. So happy they serve small (6 pieces) portions of dim sums! You can order 12 pieces portion but 6 is perfect to share and sample. We had beef and pork dim sums. Very satisfying! It's a family restaurant and the wife is a cook and husband is a server. I love places like that! They use their family recipes and it's fascinating! My wife and I finally had a chance to try Jiayuan, a well-known Northeastern Chinese restaurant transplanted from Canada. Known for their pan-fried handmade dumplings, we dove deep into the: Pork, shiitake, and string beans Chicken and corn Pork and napa Spinach, tofu, and vermicelli Tasty across the board with the chicken and corn being our favorite for its textural contrast. The house special stir-fried noodle was just decent as its flavor profile was similar to the Americanized chicken chow mein. Overall, we're glad we tried the dumplings at least once...they were just a little greasy and overpriced for our liking. As a point of reference, we'd probably take Northern Cafe's boiled dumplings (especially the lamb) over these any day of the week. read more

So i ordered grubhub and had delivered Chicken corn dumplings Pork leek dumplings Yang zhou fried rice Mongolian beef Chicken eggplant szechuan sauce As the restaurant name implies, the dumplings are far and away their best items. I enjoyed these juicy tasty dumplings the most. Their fried rice was good with lots of shrimp and well worth the price. The Chicken eggplant in Szechuan sauce is very flavorful but should be eaten with plain white rice to fully enjoy the flavors. Now the Mongolian beef was the only disappointment. The correct name should be mongolian onions. The attached picture of the mongolian beef has not been eaten or touched and this is what it looks like. I fail to find more than 3 pcs of beef. I also cant find any crispy noodles undereath, either. For the price, definitely skip this item! All in all the food was good but the disappointment by the beef dish brings a solid 4 stars down to 3 stars. read more

Dumpling House has been a staple for my family over the last 7 months. We visit at least once a month and there is usually a decent show to get a table. Walked in just before noon and was greeted by a sweet older gentleman that was cleaning up. My order placed over the phone was ready before the 20min wait quoted! I got the Hot & Sour Soup, which was a bit to spicy for me but I don't really like spice. I also got the Chicken Corn Dumplings & Shrimp Chicken Carrot Dumplings; I would have to say, I liked the Shrimp Chicken ones better than the Chicken corn- as the Shrimp Chicken Carrot dumplings have a tasty minced filling with the shrimp, chicken & carrot while the Chicken Corn dumplings are filled with only minced chicken, corn and green onions. A mom and pop place, a long wait for take-out, and you have to show up in person to order. It's worth the wait, but plan your day accordingly. My advice is to order for pick-up in several hours and spend that wait time at the beach or chatting over ice cream at Handel's. Every Dumpling is exquisite, fillings so juicy that each bite is a sip of soup. We tried all of them except the tofu, and they're all perfect in different ways. I love the modern twist of adding sweet corn to the Chicken, and they do a good job smoothing out the gamier Beef with wisps of carrot and daikon. Pork seems so common, yet their filling is so much better than all the others. Even the Shrimp is subtle, with chicken to offset the shellfish. The Fried Chicken Stuffed Eggplant is a very traditional dish worth trying. It's a pain to make at home, and here they do an admirable job keeping it light. Get a Fried Noodle if you're craving more carbs, but don't come just for this. I wish they'd make it easier to order, but it is worth the trouble and worth the wait. read more

Really nice, welcoming lady working the front of house. Not much seating and it was full when we arrived. As we waited outside, she gave us regular updates on when a table would open up and she smartly gave us menus to pre order. This way the food would be ready faster when we actually sat down. More places should do this. The food was very good. We tried the shrimp, chicken and carrots dumplings and the pork and napa cabbage dumplings. While both were tasty I definitely preferred the pork. It was juicier and more flavorful. It wasnt bad but I missed the shrimp flavor in the other dumpling and it had a little too much ginger in my opinion. Also, the dumpling wrappers are more of the rice flour type? slightly chewy and thicker than regular flour wrappers. They have a nice texture. We also got a scallion pancake, which the kids loved, and some fried rice that felt like comfort food. Jiayuan just opened in June in South Redondo and it is worth a food field trip no matter where you live. They turn tables fast. We went at 2pm and only had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table. The food came out super quick and piping hot. It's a mom and daughter business and they are working so hard! Emily and Linda must be exhausted at the end of the day because they never stop! They used to own one of Canada's top rated Chinese restaurants. How lucky are we to have them in the South Bay?! They came to us as legends before they even opened. For dumplings we tried the beef and daikon, shrimp and chicken and pork and cabbage. All of them were delicious but the pork and cabbage was my favorite. Juicy and a little sweet with a pan fried crunchy bottom. Ryan loved the "clean taste" of the shrimp and chicken. The beef and daikon was tasty but we had clear winners. We also ordered the Northern style pork which was incredible! It was so crispy under the sauce! That almost never happens! The house special noodles were so good. I was impressed with how nuanced each dish was. You could taste subtleties like the ginger in each dumpling or the freshness of the green onion or crispy celery in the noodles. So many places cut corners and the nuanced flavors get drowned out by loud sauces. The scallion pancake was a little thicker than usual but crispy and not greasy like we are used to. That was a welcomed change from the flavor bomb scallion pancakes that we've had at places in the past. We tried the Mongolian Beef which was delicious fresh! The difference between the beef and onion and the MB is that the Mongolian has a little spice. It wasn't detectable for me but it was delicious! We sampled everything and took 70% of it home. The dumplings reheated great in the pan! Surprisingly, the pork reheated great and was just as crispy. The noodles did just fine but the beef was a little drier on round 2. This place is well worth your time and money. The service was wonderful, the food was so delicious. It felt like I was eating in someone's home! They close between 3pm and 4pm each day and boy, do they need that break! Put your name on the waitlist, pack your patience and wait outside or be sure to grab some take out and enjoy! I really wanted to love this place. It has everything going for it, small family owned and operated, authentic. But I think they need some time to settle In. I'm giving them 3 stars and will revisit in a few months to see if they develop. 1- small I'm not kidding. They have two 4 top tables and five two tops. It's small. 2- organization Patience is the key phrase here. It's a mom and pop store, they seem a bit overwhelmed. So, just relax and realize it won't be fast food. Or fast. Because of the chaos, the food doesn't come out at one time...it sort of comes out in a random order and sometimes gentle reminders are necessary. That's the reason I knocked a star off and it's something that should improve over time. 3- style This is NOT a luxury dining experience. To say it's a Spartan interior is an understatement. But that's part of the charm. 4- food The menu lists all sort of great sounding dishes ...they don't offer. And even some that are not crossed off aren't available. That was disappointing, but again, start up issues? The dumpling house is the name so we ordered...dumplings. I guessing their hand made. Very nice, not greasy. Lightly toasted on one side. The fried noddles are also quite good. We ordered the house specialty. I had wanted to get hot and sour soup (such a cliche , but I do love it) however it only comes in a huge family style vat and I didn't want a liter of soup. 5- value This is all handmade stuff (from what I can gather ), which is awesome, but you'll pay more. The pricing is comparable to Din Tai Feng, which itself is a bit on the premium side. 6- misc It's in a strip mall. Parking is hit or miss. The family running the place is Chinese. It sounds like my wife's Cantonese (I went there with a friend and didn't have the benefit of her translations ) Put this on your list to try out in a few months. 3 week old Jiayuan Dumpling House should give DTF (Ding Tai Fung) a run for their money for those South Bay residents too lazy to trek to Del Amo Fashion Mall and pay for $13.50 dumpling can get it here for $9-10. While the restaurant is technically going through a soft opening with many more yummy dishes coming later on the menu. It still has several signature dishes like North Eastern Sweet and Sour Pork and traditional Scallion pancake and several fried rice and chow mein dishes. I was really glad I found this place! I was craving some dumplings and I found this place when I was searching for new restaurants that recently opened in South Bay. I think they opened a few months ago. I ordered their pan fried dumplings - chicken corn dumpling, shrimp chicken dumpling, beef daikon carrot dumpling, and their scallion pancakes. Each of their dumplings comes with six pieces. I really liked the texture of the dumpling and they were delicious! I liked their chicken corn dumpling the best out of the ones I tried. The filling was more juicy and flavorful then the others. The scallion pancake was my favorite out of everything! I noticed half of the reviews on this page said they did not like the scallion pancake and I literally have no idea why because I thought it was really good! lol The scallion pancake was not too greasy and had the prefect amount of crisp and flavor. I love that the pieces were thicker than most places I have been to. when I come back here again I plan to order more of the chicken corn dumpling and the scallion pancake. The cucumber salad , not like other places this one isn't saucey at all. Just right amount of sauce and hand crushed style to make more cucumber juice flavor. Very exquisite touch. The shrimp wanton soup.... They put dried sea weed and the dried shrimp to more umami, but these two factors are game changers. The broth is so clean and perfect and the wanton has perfect taste... The dumplings... I've ordered three kinds... All the dumplings made by orders and home meal styled shell and juicy inside and the flavor is so authentic!!! All the dishes are pretty exuberant flavors... the only thing I wanna recommend is plating... You are using ceramic plates all that's super considerate for person like me as a master chef and my super massive picky love... you did appreciate that but if you change the platings more beautiful you have way more customers!!!
