I had a really great experience at my first time here ! The menu has a lot of options, it was definitely hard to choose what to eat. We went with multiple types of tacos and a lot of sides. The corn was wonderful and one of my favorite parts. The voodoo taco was my favorite by far. The sauce on it was wonderful and just enough kick to it. If you love fish tacos you'll love Jimmy Hula's! This place has a really cool vibe to it. Large outside patio, funky beach colors, great beer selection, but most importantly awesome food. Jimmy Hula's is known specifically for their fish tacos. My preference is the Malibu which I order blackened but you can also order it grilled or fried. The Wipeout is a steak and shrimp taco with French fries on it for those that are more adventurous, and there are at least a dozen other options to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. I ALWAYS get the fire roasted avocado which is awesome and drizzled with sriracha. Highly recommended. I'm excited whenever I'm in this area for lunch, because it means I can get my Jimmy Hula fix. Jimmy Hula's is a go to spot. Love it here. I will normally get the kickin chicken and Jonny Utah. They used to have the kickin chicken on the menu but recently pulled it and changed it, but its still good. They price your meal by how many tacos you get (1,2 or 3) and you get a little more for your money the more you get. Your order comes with chips regardless of how many tacos you get. I'd recommend getting queso if you don't like plain chips. The queso is a little pricy but I think it's definitely worth it. read more

Really glad we made it back to this place now that we're home. The menu has evolved since we left but in a good way! Name of the game now is variety. On offer are tacos, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more. They also have bottled beers and some wine as well. Staff was quick to greet our group. Seating is a plenty and a varied as the menu. Tonight, my fiancée and I decided to come in for dinner, and it was our first time here as we passed it tons of times and we're excited to finally try it. A place specializing in burgers and tacos? Hell yeah. We went in at a time where there was only one other couple waiting on food, who came in right before us. Everyone else in the restaurant was already served. About 5-10 minutes after, a few other groups of people came in. The place reminded me a bit like Tijuana Flats, you walk in to a colorful place, grab the menu by the front door, (but unlike Tijuana where they show you where a menu can be found if needed, the employees just watched us stand in confusion..) order at the counter and then the food is brought out to your table. The decor of the restaurant is pretty funky both inside and out; you won't find anywhere else like it. I ordered the fish sandwich (without mushrooms, onion, and tomato) and a side of zucchini fries. My fiancée ordered the Burnt Reynolds burger: basically a double breakfast cheeseburger with potato chips in it, along with a side of Cajun fries. We sat down and waited patiently for the food to come out. And this where things started to go a little bad.. It took 20 minutes for just the fries to come out. The zucchini fries were good, just needed some pepper for my taste. A little greasy, could've been much crunchier. Some batter started to fall off of them towards the end, but they were still good. I loved the Lava sauce that it came with. The Cajun fries were crispy and well, but they needed salt. My fiancée loved the sauce that it came with. We finished almost all of our fries before the sandwich/burger came to us. I would've loved to have the sides with our sandwiches but I was just too hungry after waiting 20 minutes for anything, and we didn't want to let them get cold. We watched somebody run out a burger to another table who came in 5-10 minutes after us.. Exactly 29 minutes after ordering, his burger came out. A minute after that, my fish sandwich came out, and was actually plopped down right in front of me without being said a word to. Instead, she was having a conversation with another employee across the restaurant, and she basically yelled a reply to her right into my ear. The burger was a little too greasy, had way too much lettuce, the patties were a bit small in comparison to the bun, and definitely needed some salt, as the only source of salt seem to come from the potato chips in the burger, but overall it was still good. The fish sandwich was okay as well, had some parts of just fish batter and lettuce, as well as being a little greasy. The fish in the sandwich was way too thin for the size of the bread. So overall. I'd give it 3 stars (2.5 if I could). The food was okay, but the time we waited took way too long, and the amount of grease in everything (except for the fries) was a little unforgiving. But from seeing all of these other good reviews, I think I would give Jimmy Hula's another shot. read more

Oh, Jimmy... you were so close to 4 stars. I ordered a Voodoo taco and a Wipeout taco (both of which were fantastic), along with some mojo fries. My fries came out fresh and hot. My wife got a burger combo with Cajun fries. Her fries had way too much seasoning, which made them really salty. She took them back and was told that they couldn't make new fries for her (what?). They offered to re-fry the original fries, and that would knock off some of the seasoning (again, what?). I'm not a chef, but that makes no sense to me at all. After some eye-rolling from the chef, they gave her some more Cajun fries that were just as salty as the first ones. My family & I were in Winter Park, FL. for vacation in January 21' we decided to give Jimmy Hula's a try. The whole aesthetic is very eye catching from the outside to the inside. The aroma filled your mouth before taking a bite! The options were endless. You'd read a description of one & think, "Ok this is the one." Then read the next & say, "Wait no this one sounds really good!" And if you're not a sea food/fish taco lover they have burgers & fries, salads, etc. So it appeals to the masses. My favorite was the Luau Turf taco substituted with crispy shrimp. It was amazing!! The flavors combined together made me smile. As I sat there and ate. You know when you bite into something so good, you just can't help but smile? Do a little dance? That's how it was. We went there with 8 people (family vacation) & not a single person didn't like what they had ordered. And it varied from fish & shrimp tacos to hamburgers & fries to salads to shack signatures. Everyone said it was a- We must come back. If I had one down side, it would be it is not handicap friendly. I'm in a wheelchair & it was very difficult to move around in there. The benches are screwed to the floor so they do not move & even when moving the chairs, it was still very hard for my husband to turn me left or right & maneuver the wheelchair in any direction. Everything was very tightly packed in. We made it work, but it took a lot of time & patience along with the other customers. Which they were very nice & understanding. That's really the only thing I wish they could fix. Other than that when it comes to customer service, ambience, food & drinks it is a fantastic place to go. A nice little gem of a restaurant in the heart of nowhere on Aloma Ave. I would say this restaurant belongs closer to the beach but I am happy it's close to my work place. There is excellent variety there (different fish tacos and associated toppings). I would recommend the Killer if you like spicy or the Malibu. Definitely going to head back. This place was a hit with my family. It's a Hawaiian theme but it feels more like a cross between Bahama breeze and a Mexican taco place with a vintage decor theme. You seat yourself which is unique for a sit down restaurant but I'm guessing it allows them to cut down on the price of food. Our booth was two vintage van seats and was within ear shot of the live music. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and raved about the flavors. I had a poke bowl which was yummy. We went for the beer bucket which was $15 for 5 beers. Its $10 during happy hour which ends at 7pm. The beer selection was decent. Models, red stripe, domestic brands and some funky buddha options. I ended up going to Jimmy Hula's at the request of one of my coworkers. While it ended up being too sweet for me it was pretty decent and I liked certain aspects of my food. I got the Kingston and Epic tacos which I thought were a bit under seasoned. While both meats were cooked well I wish they were more flavorful (more jerk sauce etc) and not as sweet. The tacos were pretty loaded and were surprisingly filling. A 2 taco order came out to $8.50 and an extra $3.50 to upgrade to fries and drink. Ultimately I don't see myself coming here again, simply because I don't prefer my tacos prepared in this style. But if you are a fan of Hawaiian/California food like this then I recommend giving it a shot because it's probably one of the better places in the area. read more

We had fish tacos and they were delicious, but there was a lot of snafus when we arrived there was two people ahead of us and three people behind us. Two registers only one was open. One lady was filling plastic cups with mayonnaise or tartar sauce, so it took a long time just to place the order then they got the order wrong. We ordered fish tacos and my friend ordered the same thing. Well they brought us a basket with two tacos in it for us to share. My granddaughter spilled her Coke. She brought us a towel so we could clean it up. She did not offer to clean it up nor did she bring her another Coke because she spilled hers. our tacos were delivered but not the kids orders. We finished our tacos and they still didn't have their meal so again the tacos were delicious it's just other problems. read more

This location also receives one star because my mother and I just drove all the way from the downtown location that closed before their time listed on Mother's Day to this one that ALSO closed before the time listed. This is a challenging review because Jimmy Hula's runs hot and cold, let me explain. The food is always good, we've never had a poorly prepared meal. They provide counter service where you order, receive a number tent, and the food is delivered to your table. We're a family of five (5) and I don't believe it's an unreasonable expectation to be served simultaneously. There have been numerous times when a few people would receive their meals, we'd encouraged them to eat while it was hot, and they had finished long before the remaining meals arrived. There have been an equal number of times where we simply didn't receive the complete order and needed to return to the counter to inquire. If they polish up their kitchen timing this review would get more stars. read more

OH MUH GAWD.... This place is delicious! What can I say except for taco nirvana? The inside of this place looks like the literal representation of a Beach Boys song. Beach themed and fun for sure. If you're looking for a killer selection of fish, chicken, or steak tacos, look no further. You've found your spot. My personal fave is the "Steak Jimichurri," because whatever they put in the chimichurri sauce is so...... good! However, you have to try a fish taco, and I recommend is the "Malibu." It's simple, but packs tons of taste since it has their house guac inside. Speaking of guac, lets talk about that. Holy crap the guacamole is fantastic here! Great, fresh flavor. Couple this with the other side items (gotta try the cracked corn as well), and you will leave with a full belly and a happy hear. Ordered this on DoorDash and got the food ready at the dinner table with my wife and daughter, I can't explain to you in words how flavorful and amazing this food was. Now, I'm a big chipotle connoisseur and Jimmy Hula's knocks chipotle out of the water! Every taste bud in my mouth was jumping for joy! My wife and daughter loved their meals as well!
