Sharing my recent lunch experience at Penn Station subs. I used to come for their Monday discounted…read moresmall sub specials, but it had been so long and I wasn't sure if this was still offered. I couldn't find anything online either so I decided to just give the Penn Station location on wendover ave a call before I headed out. The gentleman that answered the phone was very nice and helpful. He confirmed the Monday sub special is still available although it had gone up to $5.99..still not a bad deal. I went in for a pick up order and decided on the Philly cheesesteak sub with all the toppings available, including banana peppers, pizza sauce, and a little bit of mustard. I sat in the dining area until order was ready, everything was nice and clean. I waited about 7 to 8 minutes for my food. I ate my sub at home and when I unwrapped my sandwich, it was still nice and warm. The steak was seasoned really well and is pretty tender. The provolone cheese is basically melted over the steak and other toppings so it's contained nicely on top of a toasted hoagie roll that is also freshed baked. The small portion is also pretty filling for me. Thiis just a great lunch deal and one of my favorites.

I got the cheesesteak with fresh cut fries, and after only a short wait it came out. The sandwich was absolutely delicious, and filled my craving. The fries were ok, not breaded like other places offer, probably a healthier fry (if there is such a thi The interior isn't huge, but offered a bit of indoor seating. I do not think they have any outdoor seating at this location. I've been to another local PS, and wasn't as impressed. This one had better service and my overall experience was better. Will definitely be back.

Added my toppings and dressing and sat down to eat. Very pleased with my meal and the chocolate mousse was excellent. Went for round two and was dismayed to see they had not properly cleaned the tray and had left food particles on it. Not a huge deal because I was putting my food on the plates, but it's the little things. No complaints on food for round 2. Got more mousse and was able to get lettuce this time. An employee had been working on stocking the salad bar while I ate my first plate and continued during my second. While I ate my second serving someone I assume may have been a manager of sorts came out and was giving the employee stocking feedback. I then watched the manager start filling containers by ADDING THE REFILL ON TOP - no rotating, no changing containers, just adding on top. Not acceptable. Seating is and always has been cramped in here. I had to weave around tables to get to my seat. We also saw someone have their sunglasses knocked off their head by someone exiting to the patio because their table was that close to the door. The gentleman picking up trays and plates was smiling and quick. It was nice to see!

Update: ordered a #8 and their new hot Italian sub with pepper relish…read more Subs were ready for pick up when I arrived and I was even greeted by the staff behind the counter when I walked in. My #8 was excellent. Veggies were cold and crisp and the meats were piled high. Bacon was crisp and not too much mayo. Perfect. However, the star of the show was the new hot Italian sub I got for my wife. The meats are chopped which makes it easy to get a good bite. The pepper relish took this sub to a new level. Added a little bit of pickle tartness and just the right amount of heat. My wife was amazed. She said, and I quote: "This is the best Italian sub I've ever eaten". Usually when I ask her how her food is at any eatery, she usually says "ok" or "it's good". Her praise of this new sub should not be taken lightly but should be revered as a rare event in the history of our world. RUN, do not walk to your nearest Jersey Mike's and give the new hot Italian sub a try. I took a bite. It's not hype folks. It's really good.

Order was crossed with another one. Asked it to be remade. After waiting extra time and driving home, checked the reorder and again- incorrect. I brought it back a second time and asked they be remade correctly. First- I was offered a refund. I said no- make them the way they are ordered. Waited while they are being redone. I understand a mistake but a second one on top of the first is unfortunate. This is the second time in two weeks that our order was incorrect, and the first time I am complaining about it. These folks need to be paying attention to the orders they are making. Store is clean- no complaints on the store- just these kids need to be more attentive to what they are doing. Finally- the third time was the charm. Gotta give it 4 stars tonight- 3 for the experience - but 5 for the sandwiches. When they are right they are delicious!

Today I got a kids meal but this time I tried the grilled cheese instead of a burger. I also got broccoli for my side. When you eat in, they give you the kids meal bag but put your food on the tray. Don't toss that bag though because there are two coupons you'll want to save on there. One is for a free scoop of custard and the other is a coupon you collect until you get 10 of them. Once you have 10 you can redeem it for a free kids meal. My husband tried the Sourdough burger for the first time. He absolutely loved it and said he would definitely get it again.

They offer a great variety of sandwiches, both hot and cold, as well as hamburgers, hot dogs, and salads. All items come with chips, fries, pasta salad, potato salad or baked beans. I went with their steak and cheese, with fries and it hit just right! The sandwich was a good size, but the fries is where they get real generous! The steak and cheese was great, as was the mountain of fries, nice crunch on the outside, and soft inside. Their fries are definitely noteworthy, I've never had this style anywhere else before, they're an odd hybrid between a potato chip and a French fry, but I really enjoyed them. Prices were very fair, they charge a little bit more for credit card use, but not much at all. The cashier was friendly, we placed our orders at the counter, and they'll call out your name when it's ready. For lunch on a Friday, I was impressed how quickly they were turning orders out. The interior is very spacious, providing plenty of seating, though a bit dated with it's checkerboard floor, it's got a bit of a nostalgic 50's diner feel. Overall, it was a great visit, and somewhere i'll surely be going back to again soon!! One other noteworthy thing, this is one of the few places I've been to in a long time that doesn't try to pressure you into a tip for your order, which I appreciated! Today I also had the Zanwhich, which is pepperoni, pastrami, provolone and mustard on rye. They grilled it so it was like an Italian grilled cheese. I really liked it!!! The employees were kind and got the food out within a reasonable time. The interior has that classic diner feel with the colorful chairs and checkered floor. If you are in the New Garden area I recommend trying it!
