    Trying the new sandwich!
    Jim C.

I'm not sure what it is about Jimmy Johns that I like so much. The bread is always good, a bit of a tug and chew, it's always fresh, but it's not a big sandwich by any means. The meats are good, a little light on quantity, but you can order a bigger version of everything on the menu to make it meatier. The hot pepper spread I add to every sandwich, it's just addicting. I would probably give them a 5 star based on their Italian subs, but their service can be spotty, and the new Zesty Garden Turkey Club was a bit of a mess. The ingredients in this sandwich sounded amazing, but overall their was a sweetness to the sandwich that I didn't care for. It was definitely lacking my hot peppers... so my bad on ordering. With Zesty in the name, I didn't think it was necessary. They should call it the Sweet Garden Turkey Club.

Jimmy Johns is one of my favorite places to grab a sandwich. Today I stop by the one on Stratford Road in order to number 2 which is roast beef. I also added cucumber hot peppers and onions. If you like a little spice on your sandwich the hot peppers are definitely a must try. I really love their bread. This location was fast and friendly. I received a very good customer service and was in an out very quickly.

Food was good. The new Roast beef cheddar bourbon sub was good but slightly spicy. Facility was clean.

The burgers are all made to order and if you haven't tried the Walleye when they have it you really should. It's amazing and they always have it around Lent. Today I got a kids meal but this time I tried the grilled cheese instead of a burger. I also got broccoli for my side. When you eat in, they give you the kids meal bag but put your food on the tray. Don't toss that bag though because there are two coupons you'll want to save on there. One is for a free scoop of custard and the other is a coupon you collect until you get 10 of them. Once you have 10 you can redeem it for a free kids meal. My husband tried the Sourdough burger for the first time. He absolutely loved it and said he would definitely get it again.

The shrimp were pretty good though some additional seasonings would help. The onion rings were narrow and there was little real onion to deal with. The cod was also pretty good but was also under seasoned, salt & pepper and hot sauce helped some. The fries were simply ridged The slaw was rich and creamy, helped to fill out the holes in the two entrees. The tartar sauce needs some serious reworking. A good number of food sites and "influencers" feel the seafood here is among the best of the national chains. I did not find it so, rather it was just ordinary! At these prices, I will move on.

The chicken itself was excellent. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly fried, and had a great crispy coating. My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.

Good service with hippie vibes. There's a discount for getting half chicken with 4 sides for only $34 if you are there at the right time.

While not all of our local options are great, we have a reasonably large number of options that are good enough to make them regular stops for me. Taco Mama is not going to be on that list, I'm afraid, based on my experience thus far. The facility itself seems fine, though the ambient noise level was rather loud (likely influenced by all the metal and concrete). But the food, the feel, the service and the value just don't compete well with all those other places we have to choose from. The unhelpful attitude of the clerk taking my order didn't start things out well; she seemed genuinely annoyed about being there, and that attitude carried over into her tone when answering my questions or prompting me for info she needed. Also on the service side of things, I had to stop the waitress from throwing away my food -- a plate over half full -- after I'd walked not more than ten steps away to refill my drink. [She apologized, but only after I had to confront her twice; still don't understand why "don't throw that away!" could have been confusing.] The burrito and beans I ordered were edible, but so bland that I might as well have been eating packing materials. The accompanying chips were warm, but the cup of salsa was quite possibly the least appealing salsa I've ever been served in a restaurant. I've had Taco Bell food I've enjoyed more than this. And yet I had forked over almost $20 for such a disappointment. Maybe it was an off-day. Maybe the tacos are the way to go here instead. But I don't think they offered even a hint of a reason for me to try Taco Mama again any time soon.
