The Huevos Rancheros were delicious!! I would go back to JJ's again strictly for the the Huevos Rancheros. Two fried corn tortillas, sandwiched in the middle you have refried beans, cheese, eggs (any style, your choice, I would go with over easy or over medium), homemade spicy red salsa, and slices of avocado. Though the salsa is spicy, it will not burn your mouth, but it has a great flavor to it. You can choose potatoes (mixed with green peppers and onions) or pinto beans to go with the dish. A great deal at $8.49. If you order the buffet, for $11.49 you get food and unlimited mimosas. The buffet had several breakfast and lunch options, including fruit and desserts. I am not a fan of buffet meals, and the macaroni and cheese that was served on the buffet apparently had vinegar in it. I did not taste it myself, but there four members of our party that ordered the buffet and all said the same thing. The service was great!! We don't drink so we stuck with ordering off the menu, asked the server what she recommended and I was very happy with the decision! I got huevos rancheros! Hubby had the strawberry Belgian waffle, no whipped cream and added scrambled eggs, 2 bacon strips with a side of hash browns. The pancakes and waffle come without any sides however for $2.99 you can get the scrambled eggs and bacon. The banana nut pancakes have tons of pecans and flavorful bananas mixed inside the batter. They were huge, fluffy and so good! It has some caramel drizzled on top which I didn't mind so much. I'll definitely order these again! Scrambled eggs were good and not runny. Bacon was really good and crispy. The home potatoes were so good and seasoned deliciously. The Belgian waffle my hubby had was pretty good. Soft, but I prefer mine a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It still tasted delicious. The hash browns however didn't have any seasoning. No salt or pepper, they were bland. Attended with large Sunday mid-morning group, way before the lunch crowd. The place was 1/3 full, so they should have welcomed customers. The lady in charge made everyone crowd in the tiny entryway until the entire group arrived, followed by a begrudging table prep took even after they were told of the large group. The lady in charge said no one else could join our group if they arrived late??? Huh? The group discussed going elsewhere, but too many people to bother. The service was good, but totally without a smile. The server may have been having a bad day. The table hunted for salt, butter, and jelly. We were told everyone in the group must order. The staff was unpleasant; the food was adequate; the coffee bleh; located in the back of a lackluster shopping center; and the fluorescent atmosphere was tired and worn, but not in a charming way. This was their largest billing of the morning, so what gives? Maybe daylight savings time and a sleepy staff who did not want to be there. Definitely not a "cool" WRL spot. I rarely write a negative review of a place of business because I understand owners' difficulties, but poor treatment of customers is unacceptable, and , I hope the owner sees this and addresses the poor treatment of customers. Searching for brunch today with my daughter we came across this spot and I'm so glad we did! Sunday brunch is usually so crowded and we typically wait 20 to 40 mins depending on where we go. While this place was plenty busy we were seated within 5mins and the service was super friendly. They have a brunch buffet but we opted to order off the menu, everything was good, the only complaint would be that the potatoes weren't hot, but we were hungry and didn't want to send anything back. My sentiments of JJ's cafe have not changed. The place is absolutely wonderful. I've now tried their Huevos Rancheros multiple times, and I love them! They are more Baja California style than your typical Tex-Mex Huevos rancheros. They consist of two fried corn tortillas, refried beans, cheese, eggs (over easy a MUST, just trust me), spicy (but not too spicy) red salsa, and slices of avocado. The O'Brien breakfast potatoes was nothing more than boiled potatoes cut up. They had absolutely no flavor or seasoning at all. The scrambled potatoes i had to use several packets of salt and pepper and that still didn't help give any flavor. I don't think I have ever tasted an egg that bland. Jelly for the English muffin...don't even ask. For the $20 for the two entrees I could have bought eggs, frozen hash browns/breakfast potatoes, and an entire package of bacon and had two or three days of breakfast at home for high of us that tasted far better. The service was ok. Nothing to wow me or anything that stood out. JJ's is my neighborhood place where "everybody knows your name" or at least wants to learn it. My grandchildren love the breakfast buffet on the weekends. They can sample everything from tacos to pancakes to eggs and sausage. The food is always fresh and it is a clean and comfortable place to dine on any day. Great little spot kinda hidden off northwest hwy. we kinda just drove in for breakfast not expecting much, so happy we did. I ordered the chicken n waffles it literally was that. The service was fantastic, our waiter was very friendly & attentive when we needed more water or adjustments to our food.
